About the AU: During the professor’s departure to America, a new mystery begins to arise in London that’s keeping everyone on edge. Flora L. Reinhold, Professor Layton’s protégé and daughter, feels confident enough to take this case on, on her own. Along with old and new friends, the purpose of the mystery will go deeper than they imagine.

So I’m hyperfixating on Layton now. So I’m gonna create art on some of the really cool AU’s I’ve found starting with @felis-rach’s Dark Layton AU.

In this AU they give our favorite puzzle loving gentleman a bit more of an edgey twist. I really loved the designs and the potential for storytelling, albeit with little content this AU has its still amazing nonetheless.

So enjoy this mysterious dark gentleman and the sweet little boy who looks up to him.

(I wonder how it’s gonna be like when they meet Flora)

Randall did not fall thank goodness, but Hershel was definitely still shaken by the experience. (Ignore my misspelling of his name it’s only a letter off)

More Lupin-Layton crossover

Lupin could handle the puzzles, Jigen would be losing his sanity over a 30 picarat one, Goemon would be good at specific types of puzzles (not sure which type), Luke would still end up solving more than half of the puzzles

The Lupin gang takes their eyes off of Luke for 5 seconds, and he's climbing a lamppost for a hint coin. They also find hint coins the fiat and are very, very confused

In general, Luke gets to be a little more of a gremlin since Layton isn't there, he's 13, and he does not want to be here

Lupin gang wound up with Luke because when Lupin got the thing (maybe some sort of secret map, honestly), Luke jumped on him. They were going to drop him off somewhere then the actual bad guys showed up and he had a better chance of not getting caught in chase scene crossfire if he stayed in the car

3 grown men get brutally judged by a 13 year old

Goemon loses dinner poker and Luke gets to have soba for the first time

The Lupin gang joining in on the Laytonmobile bullying

Goemon and Layton teaming up in a swordfight (Goemon has his sword and Layton gets a pipe)

Layton coming up with puzzles and other saving them for when him and Luke reunite or Zenigata gets hit with a 25 picarat puzzle that's actually just math

Zenigata: *going on a rant about Lupin* Layton: This reminds me of a puzzle.

Zenigata is competent but goofy in this BTW, that's my favorite kind

All I know about Fujiko's role is at some point Zenigata catches her and she attempts to flirt with Layton (and it fails but she still escapes), but obviously she's working with the bad guys while double crossing Lupin, that's her thing

Whatever the stolen secret map thing is would secretly be a puzzle.

When Layton and Luke reunite, they swap puzzles they came up with over the adventure. They wouldn't stop until someone interrupts.

I think I'll have to actually flesh out the plot to really push this idea outside of silly goofy character moments. I did have a NWOS related idea for this because of the trailer drop but that'd be more of a sequel thing to this.

Anyway, I am preparing some doodles for this au.

Going in the development wips of Randall 👇🏽

👆🏽one of the first ideas for Her, I like the idea of Her scruff poking out of the mask a bit,,,I think it’s a nice touch

👆🏽this was coming up with an idea for Her hair tuff. I want each person in the Ranlay family to have some sort of hair tuff that correlates to their symbol (symbols don’t mean anything currently since i’m not done designing everyone!! (ㆀ˘･з･˘)

Here’s a list for everyone’s planned symbol;

Hershel; Exclamation Point “!”

Randall; Question Mark “?”

Flora; Quotation Mark “”

Alfendi; Less than & Greater than “> , <“

Katrielle; ampersand “&”

👆🏽As you can see I scrapped the idea of the mask since I wanted to make my own version (not…yet done…sadly…) This is closer to what we have as the finished product hehe. The only thing that bothered me about this was the tie and the chest placement,, it irked me a lil bit but that’s alright we can fix it!! 👇🏽

👆🏽with a couple of doodles on the side hehe, we got the finished sketch of Randall done!! Looking at this you’re probably wondering “What do you mean ‘give cicada wings in reference’?” well-

What I plan for Randall is to be cicada themed, instead of angelic like masked gentleman. Cicadas have been known to represent resurrection and rebirth so I think it fits with Randall’s story a lot!
