Núria Sales i Rovira]

“Teu Deus é judeu,
a tua música é negra,
o teu carro é japonês,
a tua pizza é italiana,
o teu gás é argelino,
o teu café é brasileiro,
a tua democracia é grega,
os teus números são árabes, as tuas letras são latinas.
Eu sou teu vizinho. E ainda me chamas estrangeiro?"

BEHOLD! Chapter 16 of this Pinocchio anthology book! (Illustrated by Quentin Gréban)
“One after another they arrived: a Crow, and Owl, and a Talking Cricket. Assembling them around the bed where Pinocchio lay, the Fairy said, ‘I would like for you to tell me, signors, if this unfortunate puppet is dead or alive.’
“The Crow advanced first. ‘I’m my opinion, the puppet is already quite dead; but if he should not be dead, then it would be a sign that he is still alive.’
“‘I regret,’ responded The Owl, ‘that I must contradict my illustrious friend and colleague the Crow; but, in my opinion, the puppet [Pinocchio] is alive. Evidently, if by some mishap he was not alive, then that would be the indisputable sign that he is dead.’
“‘And you?’ the Fairy asked the Talking Cricket. ‘You say nothing?’
“As for myself,’ said the Cricket, ‘I believe that for a doctor who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, the best thing to do is to remain silent. Moreover, this puppet is not unknown to me. I have known him for a long time! This puppet is a no-good rascal, a naughty scamp, a lazy good-for-nothing, and a vagabond. On top of that, he is a disobedient child who will cause his father to die of chagrin.’
“At that moment there arose the sound of sobbing. Imagine everyone’s surprise when the sheet was raised and all could see that it was Pinocchio who was weeping.
“‘When a dead person cries, it signifies that he will get well,’ declared the Crow with solemnity.
“‘I deplore that I must again contradict my illustrious friend and colleague,’ the Owl interrupted,’ but, in my opinion, when a dead person cries, it means he is unhappy to be dead.’”
