St louis really can be a beautiful city...when it wants to be. The old architecture is beautiful. The history of how things came to be is amazing, nothing short of a small town hero growing big and joining the ranks of other big cities at certain times in America. Now, other then a few select city blocks (which coincidentally are in the big school areas of SLU, Washington U, UMSL- and housing some of the bigger finance buildings) you would be hard pressed to see that at one point or another we were projected to compete with cities like Chicago and San Diego, as now when you drive around "Historic St Louis" you can't help but notice all of the dilapidated buildings, poor property ownership, a standard of living that has slipped and fell so hard, many are very complacent with the decay that has become STL. ○ There are still many many redeeming graces the town has to offer still, such as Forest Park and the upkeep there- alot of time and work put into making some beautiful school campuses- many still hold onto the OG music town mentality as they keep live music of all sorts and variety alive and thriving. ○ My belief is that if the majority of those that live here go back to that mentality of "it was the arts and music and standard of work that made St Louis different, what made the city attractive" - I could see us not continuing to slip into the dark ages of cookie cutter houses, financial insecurity due to failed and failing markets, and this incessant need for the ego of the small man wanting to think he is bigger then reality. ○ That is my 2 cents on this big, little town I live in. ○ ○ ○ #stl #stlouis #stlmo #rft #Post-Dispatch #Missouri #history #historic #historicdowntown #decay #urbandecay #urbex #urbexphotography #urbexworld #artoftheday #musiclife #musiclover (at St. Louis, Missouri) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiK5G4rOo4C/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

You know if I had a nickel for every time he's protected us from the mob so far, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
