Too Brave For Your Own Good

Kainora Week, Day 2

This story takes place in my Battlestar Galactica AU.

For some reason, everyone insisted he was in shock.

Okay, so maybe he had almost thrown up in his suit after he lost control of the Viper, and maybe he had thrown up once the crew of the SAR Raptor had gotten him safely out the cockpit and into the recovery bird. He’d felt fine immediately afterwards. Nonetheless, they’d thrown a blanket around him as soon as they’d pulled his flight suit off, and he was still wearing it now as Commander Beifong and Captain Anthros personally debriefed them on the hangar deck.

“This is where you found him?” Beifong asked the SAR pilot.

“Yes, sir,” said the Lieutenant. “He’d drifted quite a way in the fight.”

“Was she maneuvering when you lost visual?”

“I think so,” said Kai. He wracked his memory for exactly when he’d last seen it. There had been other things on his mind at the time. “Yes, yes sir.”

“So she survived the initial hits. She could still be alive,” said the SAR pilot.

“She is alive, Lieutenant, and we’re gonna find her.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Get this man to sick bay,” said Beifong.

Captain Anthros lingered for a moment as the Commander walked away. He pulled the Viper Pilot’s Wing from his uniform and pinned them on Kai’s tanks. “I think you earned those today.”

“Typical pilot; more guts than brains,” the doctor groused as he finished poking and prodding at Kai’s head and torso. “You’ll probably be fine, but I’m keeping you overnight for observation. Take some of these and park your ass over there.”

The hospital bed was somehow even less comfortable than his rack, and sickbay was an even less peaceful environment than the duty locker. It felt like an hour passed while he replayed losing the Viper in his mind, only to look at the at the clock and realize it had been closer to five minutes.

Before long, either boredom or whatever was in the pills was making him groggy, and he decided to settle in for some shut-eye.

“What the hells did you think you were doing out there!”

Kai blinked back to full consciousness. “Hey, Jinor—”

“You have one, one frakking day of ACM and you try to get yourself killed taking on a dozen Raiders? It’s a godsdamn miracle you didn’t die and take your Viper with you!”

“I—”

Jinora wasn’t done. “When your CO says run, you run, because this isn’t a frakking daycare! Our job is to kill Cylons and having some nugget in the way doesn’t help! Korra’s a godsdamn moron for trying, but you? Sticking your ass in the line of fire instead of waiting for the alert fighters? You’ll be on double deck duty till we get to Earth as soon as you’re up from that…bed.”

Jinora took a deep breath, then asked, “Are you going to be alright?”

“Doc says it’s just a little shock. I’ll be fine, back on the line tomorrow,” said Kai, sincerely hoping that was the right answer. “How’s Avatar? Did they find her yet?”

“Not yet. We think she went down on the gassy moon; I’m leaving to search with Catowl and Plinker in—” Jinora glanced at the clock “—frak, five minutes. Listen, you rest up, and we’ll talk tomorrow when you’re back on the flight line.”

Kai nodded. “Okay. And—sorry for losing the Viper.”

“Oh, it’s not lost—Mako did a worse number on that bird back at Xie Bao. Chief’ll have you patching it up first thing. They’re made for pilots too brave for their own good. Just…promise to finish training, before running in to save a comrade like that again?”

Before Kai could promise, almost too fast to notice, Jinora kissed him.

Face ablaze, Jinora bolted from sick bay, throwing an “I’ll see you tomorrow!” over her shoulder on the way out.

Kai lay for a moment, processing just what had happened. Maybe being in sick bay wasn’t so bad, after all.

Happy New Year!

Part of me wanted to do a Year In Review post, like I’ve seen a few other creators do, but instead of talking about myself (which I do for the entire rest of the year anyway lmao), I’m gonna do a reclist instead, of the best fics I’ve read this year. A lot of it is BNHA, because that’s been my main fandom for 2020, but I did spend a decent amount of time in other spaces. If you see a **, that means there’s boning at some point – if the fic is in bold, then there’s a lot of boning. I @ed their Tumblr if I knew it off the top of my head, but I may have missed some.

Don't Yuck Her Yum by rumblefish ( @rumbllefish) (League of Villains Gen)

Complete – A quick disclaimer, pia is a mutual and a friend. That being said, this is such a cute little snapshot into the LOV with everyone’s favorite Found Family trope. Now, I’ll admit to being additionally biased because pia gave me that sweet sweet Dadpress food, but her Spinner is also on point. Short and sweet.

the Issue of the Jeanist Corpse (the Jorpse) by Princeliest (Hawks & Jeanist Gen)

Complete – Witty and hilarious, a deleted scene when Hawks went to visit Best Jeanist before War Arc. I love how antsy Hawks is, and how fussy Jeanist. Also, I’m a sucker for putting a j at the beginning of everything for Jeaninst.

Queer Eye: We're In Japan! And There Are Pro Heroes Everywhere!! by night_of_the_living_trashcan (Background Erasermic Family)

Complete – I love a good Queer Eye fic, and this one is so spot on. The Fab Five couldn’t get a better candidate than Aizawa (well, almost; see below). And I’m a sucker for Erasermic family.

**Yesterday's Gods by Karzai (All Might/Reader)

WIP - Reader character is an ex-military doctor who comes to work at UA. If you’re a fan of very well-developed backstories, and reader characters that are their own people, then this is the fic for you. This fic gives me huge Newsroom vibes - we’ve got a past romance, and the tension after years apart. We get present day when they are older and more jaded, and we get the backstory of the reader character and All Might when they were young and spry.

**surrender (whenever you're ready) by OfMermaids ( @ofmermaidstories) (Bakugou/Reader)

WIP - Bakugou accidentally destroys a florist’s shop. Bar none the best Bakugou fic out there - his characterization is so on point. He is grouchy but so vulnerable, he’s coarse and soft and insecure and such a perfectionist. The relationship with the reader character develops very naturally, and the chapters are long. Bonus, we get some bangin’ Kiri as well.

**if i could keep cool by andypantsx3 ( @andypantsx3) (Todoroki/Reader)

Complete – I’m in love with the premise of the fic: a hired cleaner gets kidnapped due to a misunderstanding of the romantic variety. Andie’s Todo is well written, and the pacing of the story is nice and tight. An easy read.

**Subject: RAPTOR by Tainted_Wine ( @tainted-wine)(Hawks/Reader)

Complete – The villains have turned Hawks into a Nomu, and reader works collecting semen for the facility for breeding purposes. Bigtime monster-fucking, but it’s very poignant and well-done. Very long, but well worth the time.

**My Hero by HeroAssociation(Aizawa/Reader)

WIP – Reader character is a milf whose son enters a contest to meet his favorite hero and wins. The author’s Aizawa is really good, and the scenes with the reader’s son are very realistic for maternal love. And, I cannot emphasize this enough, reader character is a milf. It’s incomplete, and hasn’t updated in a while, but the premise is so cute I can’t not include it.

Complete – Baby’s first hanahaki. Honestly a very cute little hanahaki – no angst or sads, just two idiots in love. A nice quick read.

But they're soft... by coffee_dessert (Aizawa/Reader)

Complete – Aizawa gets turned into a cat by a villain’s quirk, and the reader character takes care of him until it wears off. I’ve heard this premise is popular? But I haven’t seen too too many, and this one is very well executed. Aizawa’s characterization is solid, and the pacing is very good. A very sweet read.

**no grave to hold my body down by Hawnks (supermintfluff) ( @hawnks)(Shinsou/Reader)

Complete – Pro Hero Shinsou saves the reader character, and they keep running into each other. This one is a good character study on adult Shinsou, and Hawnks’ writing is always very clean and lovely. I recommend going through their entire selection.

Love Like You by Queen_Kai (Shinsou/Reader)

Complete – Color Soulmate AU with a villain reader. Very cute, and I adore Shinsou’s characterization in this one. I honestly wish there was more, but it stands on its own very well.

Naruto

**Maid with Benefits by awolangel (Akatsuki/Reader)

WIP – Reader is hired to be a live-in maid to the Akatsuki, and also have lots of sex. This fic is hilarious, and so well characterized. The pacing is actually really good, as well as the development of all of the relationships. There are some characters that get more attention than others, but we do get a nice spread. Very fun escapism fic.

Moonshine by Victopteryx ( @ancharan) (HashiMada)

Complete – Prohibition Era Bootlegging AU. Author’s handle on both Madara and Hashirama is incredible (and they draw their own fanart, and it’s also incredible). A whole-ass meal.

Tobirama Kicks Some Sense Into Konoha by allseer15 (Tobirama&Naruto Gen)

Complete – Tobirama gets sent back in time due to an accidental jutsu, and is horrified at the way Konoha is run, and promptly Rampages over it. Wonderful catharsis for anyone who wondered why it was okay for a rich-ass old man to just leave an infant a welfare check and a shitty apartment and dip out on his development even though he has the equivalent of a nuclear warhead in his upper intestine.

Misc

**Clouds by moriamithril (Star Wars Rogue One, Cassian Andor/Reader)

Complete – Reader character is a handler/assistant type figure to Cassian over a series of missions. We get a lot of emotions in this one – we get the tenderness of caring for someone who is ill, we get devotion, we get yearning, we get delicious jealousy. Well written and lovely.

Fresh Coat by scrapmetal (The Mandalorian, Boba & Din Gen)

Complete – Fantastic Boba and Din, the Mando culture representation we deserve. I’m love.

**A Far Greater Sin (Reader version) by Yavannie (The Mandalorian, Din Djarin/Reader)

Complete – Reader is a healer, and builds a relationship with Mando over the course of a couple decades. Great pacing, great RC development, and the author’s Mando is quite good. The premise/setting gives me wicked fantasy vibes, even though it’s obviously In Space, but that’s definitely a draw.

who's gonna save us now (when the ashes hit the ground) by chancellor_valdez (Ready or Not, Grace/Daniel)

Complete – My favorite of the “Grace and Daniel Survive Together” subgenere, this one is very raw with its emotions. There’s a lot of hurt, and there’s a lot of self-harming coping mechanisms. Recovery is ugly, and the author did a very good job showing us that. And their ending was lovely.

Complete – Sango takes care of Rin sometimes, and gets confused when Sesshoumaru brings her gifts. The author’s Sessh is so good, and it’s a great exploration of a relationship we don’t see much of.

Mine Enemy by Ayrith (Inuyasha, InuSan)

Complete – I love this fic, okay. Fantastic character study in Sango and a lot of the rougher parts of her that canon shied away from, and the author’s Inuyasha characterization is fucking great. Just go read this, yes.

Frozen Plus One by Meowzy (Frozen, HansAnna)

WIP – Troll AU, ie the trolls cursed Hans and that’s why he is That Way. Look, this author has done such a good job with all of the characters. Their voices are very distinct, and it’s not a reach at all to see how it could have gone differently. And we get some sweet HansAnnaKris action, and it is just as we deserve. Honestly, this fic is so well written, it deserves the world.

Knives In by anomalation (Knives Out, Marta/Ransom)

Complete – My favorite of the Pen Pals subgenre, this one is a fantastic slow burn. Ransom is really forced to face himself, and Marta is such a babe. Meg makes a few appearances, and her confusion over her place in the world is really well done. A great enemies-to-lovers.

It's Not Anxiety, It's a Parasite by squadrickchestopher (Venom, Queer Eye)

Complete – Look, I’ve mentioned before, but I love a good Queer Eye fic. Eddie gets what he deserves, and the symbiote couldn’t be more happy. So funny and clever.

You Find Yourself in a Maze by FloaromaMeadow ( @zombiekaiba) (S0 Atem Gen)

Complete – Very short and very poignant, the style is modeled after text-based command games. It fits super well with the Season 0 aesthetic, and there’s so much punch in each command.

Im trying to work out the roles for that JW au- Because like...in it, Tatiana ends up adopting Zuke and West through some series of events, and she’s been and continues to spend her time working on getting the park to be an actual thing, now confronted with the challenges of being a mom to these two orphan boys. So Zuke and West are their canon-game-ages by the time the park is up and running and open and stuff, so they’ve grown up with full knowledge of this place. Mostly anyways. I actually don’t have much at all on West rn.

Eve is one of the scientists! Maybe the head of the science team? Or one of rather? that will come up in a sec. Don’t have much beyond that. I’m not too sure about Neon, but I know 1010 are sorta like security, they “grew up” alongside the brothers, when they were in the same place while their parents were doing work stuff, so most of the time they just roam around with Zuke as HIS protection, unless told to do otherwise. Zuke and Rin have been a thing for a bit of time at this point, and Zuke finally got the raptors to trust his boyfriend. Rin stopped trying to talk Zuke out of sneaking into pens long ago, he figured out that as long as he and his brothers were there to look out for Zuke that he’d be fine. Apparently, Zuke is good at taming dinos too. DJSS is also part of the science peeps! This is where that other thing about Eve comes up, he and Eve both seem fitting to be head of the science team, maybe they sorta share that. When you’re managing genetics for dinosaurs and such, it’d be good to have two important experts leading this mission. (Yes, he and Neon-J are together, married in this one actually.) Yinu’s mother, Rosa? Maybe a botanist? They have ancient plants there too right? Certainly there’s somebody behind that, why not a team with her at the lead? Yinu tags along with her most of the time, but sometimes her mother has to find someone to watch her. The Sayu team (and a humanized version of the mermaid child herself) are, once again, Neon and DJSS’ adopted kiddos. Fully theirs. They’re sorta like Yinu with the role they play, and really admire what their dads do. They wanna work here too someday! Tatiana is the head of everything like always, being the mother to the brothers and managing the park. She indeed had a wreckless past, whether she still had the band in this AU or not is still undecided. I am indeed putting her with Barbara again. Speaking of Barbs, she’s a journalist still, just not for music, still working on that. Mayday, for the first time in one of the many AUs i’ve constructed in a short amount of time, actually doesn’t have much for her. I know she starts working there, doing what, im not sure. She and Zuke hang out a lot even when working, so maybe she’s going to be some kind of dinosaur handler like he is. Sadly, the events of her backstory in Roads to Recovery apply here, so she doesn’t know her relation to Tatiana right off. anywho thats it for now.

RAPTOR ARC/AU HEADCANONS

To go with this arc here! May be on the darker side so proceed with caution.

Barney is eventually saved by Richard blasting the Raptor amulet with the Nova Force. Unfortunately, this took Barney’s right hand with it. The process rendered the connection between Scythe and Barney destroyed, though it left Barney’s soul tattered and torn for weeks afterward.

After the amulet was destroyed, Barney was in a coma on Xandar for a month. During this time, his hand was regrown and his soul started to, slowly, mend. Barney lived on Xandar for another month or so afterward where he sees physical therapists and therapists in order to get cleared for travel. He returns to Earth once he’s cleared in order to recover with a now shoreleaved Richard.

Barney’s right hand has been regrown via advanced Xandarian medical technology. If you look closely, you’d be able to tell there is something off about his right hand as there are no scars, no callouses, and the skin is far smoother than his left. The right hand is weaker than his left. He currently goes to physical therapy to correct this.

After waking up from his coma, Barney has issues keeping solid foods down. It takes several months for him to be able to eat real food again and has to transition from liquids to soft foods then finally to solids. Combined with his weak right hand and a brief sensitivity to bright lights, Barney is understandably frustrated after he wakes with how long recovery takes.

Because of the damage done to his soul, Barney is more vulnerable to magick based attacks. Due to the nature of his captivity, however, Barney is slightly more resilient to psychic attacks than the average individual.

The most common nightmares Barney has about the whole incident:

seeing Scythe rip into Richard

waking up as Scythe

left awake in the Null Space screaming, watching himself wither away

trapped in Null Space with the Datasong laughing...

Barney is sensitive to red and orange light. While he can power through it if need be, if he has a choice he will 100% of the time choose to not be in rooms where the lights are tinted this color. (Haunted houses are most definitely out.)

When stressed or anxious, Barney sometimes still hears the Datasong. It’s mutli-voiced, deep, shrill laughing is something he will likely never forget in his life. The sound is enough to increase Barney’s panic, though he is actively working on reducing this reaction via therapy.

The first time Barney ‘hears’ Datasong he ends up locked in the bathroom, curled up in the tub for four hours with Richard. This is when he decides to start actively going to therapy on Earth.

Rebuild: Behind The Scenes

I thought just for some fun, I might post the plan I made for writing Rebuild. It has some silly alternate titles, some doodles I sketched out, and I thought some people might like to see how much the end product was different from the plan.

I do also have a section of the plan just for ideas, but I haven’t included it here because it contains spoilers for the sequel(s).

Hope you enjoy my ramblings below! (Obviously it contains major spoilers for all of Rebuild, so make sure you’re read all that before reading this!)

Rex Brickowski AU Outline

C1: Rexile (AKA Anikin Voice: "I hate Sand". AKA What to do when you're suddenly not dead)

Rex ends up back in his own original timeline in the outskirts of Syspocalypstar. He’s alone, no Rexcelsior, no velociraptors. That makes him sad.

He looks to the city and thinks about everything.

Cat lady comes, he gets bricks and builds and awesome bike and drives to the city.

C2: Shattered (AKA Rex really likes bikes for some reason and also fucks shit up)

There, Lucy and the others are chillin in a park while Rex tears through the city exploring, turning heads.

He goes up a ramp that sends him up over a building above the park. Whilst in the air he grabs his bike and does a flip. The others watch him. He lands on the road next to the park and spots Lucy, his eyes go wide. He does a skidding turn to pull up beside them.

They say how awesome that was. They don’t recognise him and he plays along with that. He needs to get used to them and himself before he drops a bombshell on them.

They show him around the city. He gets a black coffee from the shop. Freezes when he sees a laundromat (PTSD), he hallucinates the deafening roar of the Dryar of Undar until Unikitty distracts him and pulls him away and they continue the tour.

At one point Everything is awesome plays, he acts aloof but taps his foot quietly and lucy notices.

Eventually they get to the town square. There is a statue of Emmet. Rex is immediately taken aback and asks what it is (to gauge his friends reactions and also because he's genuinely surprised to see he's been acknowledged).

Lucy says it honours the special, Emmet. That he was there friend. That they looked for him for a while, but eventually had to admit that he was gone, so they stopped looking.

BIG ANGST TIME.

Rex snaps. He’s still bitter. He starts off vauge like “You gave up? Would he have given up on you?” but gets increasingly louder and madder. Revealing that he was trapped in Undar, how he feels abandoned and slowly revealing to the others that he’s Emmet. Lucy is like “Emmet…?” And he’s like “Emmet is gone! He’s dead!”

He breaks the statue in one punch in anger. His friends are horrified. He looks between them and the statue, shocked and saddened by himself. “What have done?” (Internally). He drives off, leaving the others sad and confused.

C3: Traces Of You (AKA Talking to your ex who you feel betrayed you, even though she thought you were dead… that's rough buddy)

Alternate titles, How can you stand there, a whisper from me? Gone But Not Forgotten

After a short while, giving everyone some time to breathe/ think, Lucy finds Rex in the outskirts. They talk. He explains how he toughened up, how he did some terrible things, how he wants to be better but doesn’t know how. How he’s ruined any chance he had with his friends because of the statue incident. Tears form in his eyes. Lucy goes to comfort him with a hand on his shoulder and says “Emmet...” Queue the “I’m not Emmet anymore and I dont know how to be” line.

Lucy convinces him to not be just one, be a combination. That his friends can help him through this and him to be happier again. He says he’s still can’t fully/ needs time to trust them again, but he’s willing to try. Oh and to call him Rex, cause he wants to be different from movie Emmet.

C4: Building Blocks (AKA DON'T TOUCH ME WHEN I'M WRITING ABOUT SPACESHIPING!!!!)

Lucy and the others ask Rex to build something with them. He decides on a spaceship, they let him lead. Friend interactions.

C5: Time Heals All Wounds (AKA So it turns out you based your entire new personality on your friends and also you finally acknowledge your PTSD)

Over a longer time period (make this clear), montage of helping with each individual. Them understanding Rex and who he is more, maybe after he tries to act exactly like Emmet would but it’s unnatural for him? Finding out about raptor training. Helping him cope with his PTSD (Dryar, paralyzation, loneliness) and abandonment issues.

(after writing half the chapter, i realised) His hand injury and recovery mirror emotional healing! )

Order:

Fist, alone with Benny, flying spaceship they all built. (Who Rex developed his spaceship love from.) Emotional thing dealt with: ?

Unikitty. He learnt to harness/ weaponize rage from. Unikitty encouraging him to release some anger and destroy some rubble. Helps him get his anger feels out.

Metalbeard. About being a captain of pirates/ raptors. Talk about how he misses them.

Batman. Learnt how to be tough fighter and suppress deep emotional issues. See below for events. Then they talk about talking through things with others, stuff B learnt in Lego batman movie.

Maybe he’s left alone for ten mins whilst a friend goes to grab a brick or something and is terrified they wont come back. He’s relieved but visibly shaken when they do return.

Maybe a change over between friends. One has to go and leaves Rex to meet the batman outside of a shop. As he waits his mind wanders thinking Batman has forgotten about him, doesn't want to meet with him, or even like him etc. As this happens he hallucinates hearing the dryer roar. He stands frozen in place, covering his ears as his vision gets darker. Maybe this causes him to glitch to the real world and back every few seconds. The roar gets louder and louder and louder. Batman comes, sees Rex, is concerned and tries to get his attention by touching his shoulder. Rex freaks out, snapping out of his hallucination shouting/ screaming and madly thrashing punches. He smashes a bin or lamppost or car to pieces before Batman can calm him and he realises he's fine. Rex apologies.

Lucy. Made a super cool alias like Wyldstyle, and hides his insecurities under confident exterior like her. Maybe they talk on their way to her surprise. She asks why he changed his name and himself? He explains his thoughts on Undar, how at the time he thought his friends were right and so he toughened up. Made a cool name like she did. He realises a lot of his Rex traits are semi based on his friends. Maybe talk about how it's good to be confident but also not bad to be vulnerable/ talk about problems with others. He realises he's already been doing this with others? Or just have mostly fun not angst for them here!? Meh, idk yet.

Ends with Lucy giving him that cute little house he made for her, that he’d almost forgotten about. Says it’s just a basis and he can change it if he wants. Talk. Suggests they could be platonic (for now) roommates. She leaves him for the night, he’s now ok (ish) with being left alone.

C6: True Colours (AKA Title made it sound like Rex would turn out evil but surprise! He actually just wanted to look pretty. AKA Rex stares in a mirror for an awkwardly long time)

When Lucy returns, Rex looks different. He briefly went to the Man Upstairs realm and used markers etc, to change his appearance. He wanted some brighter colours to look happier, and more like a combo of Emmet and Rex. He explains this, and decides he wants to be called Rex Brickowski to symbolise this combo of all his aspects.

Basically this first bit is the man I used to be from count of Monte cristo musical.

Maybe some Rex and friends hanging out, it’s better than before. Group karaoke? Tries to warm up to Sweet Mayhem?

C7: Epilogue (AKA The end happens. Everything is awesome is still a bop)

Rex and CO are hopeful for the future. Rex knows who he is now and thinks he can be happy again and trust his friends. He’s a mix of mature and innocent/ sweet. He can now enjoy ‘childish’ things and tough things. He’s happy and thinks everything might be ok now.

Maybe he goes to the coffee shop, orders Lucy something and a black coffee with 25 sugars for himself and returns home, listening to rock music on his headphones.

(End on poignant thing.)

Side Notes/ Reminders For Myself

“According to a draft from the first film's script, Emmet is 22 years of age in that film, thus making him 27 in the sequel if accepted.” My AU Rex spent 2 years on Undar, plus 5 getting tough before the movie happens. Making him 34 at the start of the AU.

Rex was in his past changing things. But when Emmet was saved, it was no longer his past/ his timeline. So he faded and was sent back to his original timeline. All the stuff he did in the movie timeline still happened, we see three raptors are still there with Ms Scratchen-Post at the end. So the raptors stay where they are in the movie timeline, because they aren’t like Rex who is being written out of the movie timeline’s future. Which is why Rex is alone at the start of this AU.

Very important! Rex's trust of his friends. My take: friends are the most important thing to Emmet. With friends, he was happy even during the apocalypse. Without them, he becomes jaded, tough. Lucy is who he was closest to/ loved. None of his friends, but especially her not coming for him and moving on hurt him the most. As Rex, he was most mad at her (see him scowling at her during the movie). But then they all try to come back for movie Emmet. Lucy makes it through and saves him. She saved him. This changes post back to the futuring Rex's view. The fact the movie Lucy saved him plus the fact he loved her and cared for her the most before, means AU Rex is inclined to trust her most.

Titles for 3 stories: Rebuild. Rekindle. Re-----. (I'm an idiot for planning 3 of these!!!!!)

Rebuild: Rex's relationships and himself up again.

Rekindle: his and Lucy's love for each other.

Re-----: ((REDACTED BECAUSE IT’S A SPOILER! You’re gonna have to wait to find out what it is!))

And that’s it! This is the rambling mess that brought you Rebuild. Hope it was interesting to see.

As another note of my writing process, I did a lot of jumping around. If I had an idea for some lines of dialogue pop into my head, I wrote it down before I forgot and then slightly altered it and filled in the gaps later. In fact that whole bit between Lucy and Rex in chapter 3 was almost all dialogue (with a few notes like “He turned. She smiles” Etc in between) and then later after writing some of chapter 4, I went back and filled in all the gaps.

I would really recommend writing down whatever pops into your head like this if you want to write things. You might think “Oh, i’ll remember to put this in when I get to writing here!”, that is a lie. You won’t. Or it’ll be different to that brilliant thing you came up with whilst day dreaming out a window. It’s definitely better to jot it down and have it, then decide to edit it later if you don’t like it, than lose it entirely. Just make sure when reading over your chapter/ story that everything flows together nicely. :)

This method also meant I wrote chapters 5, 6 and 7 simultaneously. I had about half of chapter 6 and 7 done whilst I was still making my way through 5. (Probably because 5 was so big!) But then when I was done with 5, I finished off 6, then 7. It also really helped when I came up with the idea to put the first line of the story as the last line too. It gave me a direction to go in for the last chapter (after Rex get’s back from the coffee shop) and also was a nice way to end it off.

Arranged Lives

Based off of @superfluous-vanitas Tribes AU mixed with ARK: survival evolved and some of The Isle ideas/creatures and concepts. And it helps that I love anything TerraVan so their art on their AU gave me the idea to write this! Its nothing long, but I do hope you enjoy!

“Are you sure you’re okay with all of this?” Lea asked as he sat in front of his Allosaurus as he ran a wet brush over its rough skin. He turned his head to look at the raven haired male next to him who was leaning back on a rather large, white and gray colored Tyrannosaurus, though unlike many of the others of his same kind, not only is it much larger with more pronounced brow ridges, he also had armor like skin starting from the base of its neck all the way down to the tip of his tail. paired with a narrower muzzle, it was clear this T-Rex was genetically different and probably one of the very rare occurrences that happened in these parts of the grassy plains of their tribe’s territory. How had Vanitas gotten this creature and tame it was beyond Lea, but it worked in favor of their tribe when it came to the many times their tribe has gotten into territory fights with other neighboring tribes. In fact, the topic of their current conversation was on one of those said Neighboring tribes. “I mean, did Xehanort even ask? Or did he just throw this on ya?”

Vanitas sighed and that was all the red head needed to know that this agreement was suddenly thrown onto him verses being part of the conversations that lead to this agreement. “It’s not all that bad,” Vanitas stated as he ran his hand down his creature’s jaw as it let out what could be considered a low and deep grumbling purr of content, which was an odd sound to hear from a predator like that one. but their tribe were masters at taming predator type creatures. Small or big, it was just a matter of time and patience for each type of creature they managed to capture. Either way, back to the topic at hand, Lea was sure he felt more annoyed then Vanitas did but then again hes known the Tribe Leader’s adopted kid for as long as he can remember now. and he knew that Xehanort was putting forth the marriage of his kid to Tribe Leader Eraqus’ kid; Terra in order to put an end to the constant fights between their tribes and in order to expand territory as well. both tribes were fairly large, and combined together they would make one of only two large tribes that had once been two separate tribes as well. However, that didn’t mean that Lea agreed with it. while Vanitas had this…infatuation with Terra, Terra had no interest in Vanitas, however. While this arranged marriage was something Vanitas was more on bored with, Lea had heard that Terra had been very much against it, still was even.

Despite having finally agreed to the marriage, everyone knew that Terra was anything but pleased with this. But it was necessary to end the constant conflicts and to bring the dawn of a better age for both of their tribes. Terra saw it was mere business and necessity, Vanitas saw it like that and maybe an opportunity to maybe win the bigger male over. though, Lea had his serious doubts that this was all going to work out, considering the bad history between the two tribes. It was never personal for Vanitas, territory fights broke out more often then not and Van and his T-Rex only ever went out during those fights when Xehanort deemed it necessary. Which wasn’t often, but during the last battle, Vanitas had been called to the fight and when he brought along his T-Rex, a lot of the other tribe's men had gotten hurt or killed. It had been one of their more….aggressive battles. Terra had been present for that battle and he and Vanitas had a run in, while Terra and his own T-Rex had been ready to take the other two on, Vanitas had no intentions of fighting him, so instead of making the bloodshed worse, Vanitas took his leave. Xehanort had been furious beyond belief. Lea had been worried that his friend was going to be punished for his actions, but with a mutated T-Rex who was very over protective of him, he didn’t have to worry too much. “Its for the good of both Tribes. We are stronger and more efficient together then we are apart.” at the words of his friend, the read head rolled his eyes as he turned his gaze back to his own Dino, gently cleaning out bite wounds and lacerations on his neck from the pack of Raptors they had encountered earlier. “Is she gonna be okay?” Vanitas asked from his spot against his partner, the red head chuckled.

“Are you?” Lea asked, giving the raven a small smile. he watched as Vanitas looked down at the charm that had been gifted to him by his soon to be husband. It was out of tradition, the man had explained to Vanitas. Not because he actually liked him. to anyone, Vanitas just rushed the comment off and happily accepted the charm. But to Lea, Isa and anyone else who knew the raven as well as they did, knew that the comment stung. “Seriously, you gonna be okay? we could always still go with Isa’s and my plan.”

Vanitas laughed, shaking his head at that. Isa and Lea had come up with some overly complicated plan that involved them steal supplies and mounts from the Tribe stables and running away. Isa and Lea had their lives figured out, they technically didn’t need to stay with this tribe to survive. With Isa’s smarts and Lea’s uncanny way with the Allo species, they could easily have a pack of them in a week or two’s time before getting other Tribe members and eventually starting their own little familial group. Vanitas didn’t necessarily have that. he wasn’t…all that great with connecting with people, never had been for as long as he could remember. And that wasn’t much, a lot of his childhood was hazy, he had been told that he was taken in by this Tribe when they found him with this small, odd looking juvenile T-Rex. He was close to starving, covered in wounds that at the time and in the moment couldn’t be explained. When eh came to, he was in a more or less daze, so a lot of his time as a child before being taken in by Xehanort was unknown to him. but Lea and Isa had taken to the raven quickly as Xehanort often left Vanitas with them during his recovery period. Since his arrival, many of the other Tribe members found him strange ,a bad omen as it was when Vanitas was taken was when their Tribe leader became far less inclined to show mercury to their rival tribes. Many blamed Vanitas’ coming as a bad sign, the end of their Tribe. And it truly did seem like that up until this deal with Eraqus’ Tribe was met. “I’ll be fine. just gotta stay on his good side is all.” Lea rolled his eyes at the response, Vanitas couldn’t really blame his red-headed friend for it either. Lea had always tried to look out for him as best he and Isa could. Both more then willing to stand up for him against the many accusations of other Tribe members that Vanitas was a curse along with his Rex.

Lea had opened his mouth to respond to that half-assed reasoning but paused when his Allo lifted her head up suddenly along with Vanitas’ Rex. The two got to their feet quickly but calmed down at the sight of Isa, Tribe leader Xehanort, Tribe Leader Eraqus and Terra walking their way. Lea was quick to bow to the two Tribe leaders as was Vanitas. “Afternoon Tribe Leaders,” Lea greeted with a forced but polite smile, the red-head was never good with authority and Vanitas swore he was going to get himself killed one of these days. Both males then stood straight again as Lea snapped his fingers at his Allo who stood on her feet, shaking her body as if to loosen her muscles. “I’m going to safely assume you all wish to speak to Vanitas and Terra privately, so Isa, Ally and myself will take our leave. We’ll catch you at the Dinner hunt, Vani.” The red head said waving to his friend who nodded slowly. He waved a silent goodbye to his two long time and only friends as they started to walk away with Ally following her rider. With his friend gone, Vanitas felt a hundred times more nervous then he had the moment his golden colored eyes had landed the group. He cleared his throat and turned his attention to the other three.

“Afternoon Tribe Leaders, Terra,” he greeted, with a slight inline of his head. “To what do I owe this unexpected visit?” Xehanort huffed, walking up to the boy as he placed a hand on his shoulder. For a moment, Vanitas had to stare at this Rex who opened a red colored eye after he had laid his head back down and closed them. but the moment the man who took him in had placed a hand on him, this earned a low, deep, but threatening growl from the Rex. Vanitas gave the group a sheepish smile as he turned to face the mutated predator. “Shhh, easy boy. What’s got you riled?” he asked softly, as he ran his hands down the creature’s jaws and over his muzzle. “Apologies-“

“There is no need to fret, young Vanitas. We are simply here to suggest that perhaps you and Terra here go out for a while on your own. Talk to each other. With your mounts of course. Xehanort and I believed it would be good for you to spend some more time together before the ceremonial day. As once that day comes you both will be far to busy getting ready to even have time to say good morning to one another.” Eraqus cut in with his usual calm and soothing tone. Honestly, talking to him was less stressful then talking to Xehanort who had been the man to save his life so many years ago. To tell the truth, he enjoyed talking to Eraqus more then he did talking to Xehanort. Though he would never admit that to Xehanort’s face. “That, and it will give you both time to talk about certain topics, and what you two will be doing once your both married. You can both live here, or back where our tribe is located. You cant take all the time you need until your hunting group goes out.” He explained looking to Vanitas who nodded wordlessly. He gave him and Terra a reassuring smile.

Vanitas watched as Eraqus leaned in close to Terra and whispered something in his ear which got the blue eyed man to blush darkly and look away, the tribe leader only laughed. Vanitas jumped when eh felt his own tribe leader lean down and whisper in his own ear. “Do try to be civil and not ruin this for the tribe.” Was the only warning he got before he started to follow his old time friend. Once gone, Vanitas sighed, relaxing now that the two tribe leaders were gone. An awkward silence fell over him and Terra. It wasn’t like they had much in common and it wasn’t like his own Rex was anything like Terra’s. for a moment, Vanitas refused to look at the bigger man, he focused on petting his mount who was letting out low rumbling purrs of content.

“So…what is up with your Rex anyway?” Terra asked, being the one to finally break the silence. Vanitas looked at him a bit confused by the question, but he looked up at Terra’s Rex, a female with black and red coloring on her body. she was larger then the average T-Rex, but she was nowhere near the size of his own. But then again it wasn’t like his Rex was exactly normal, no one quite knew why his mount was so large, temperamental or looked so weird, but most assumed it was due to a genetic mutation. How had the mutation happened and could have caused it, no one had a clue. But his had been with him all his life, or for as long as he could remember. Vanitas shook his head quickly as he focused back on the man’s question.

“With the growling? He isn't a fan of Tribe Leader Xehanort. Not that blame him but-“

“I meant why is he so…” Terra made a vague motion with his hands, gesturing to the entire creature who was at this point merely watching the two as they spoke. “Why dose he look so strange. What’s his story?” at that, Vanitas laughed and shrugged.

“I only remember waking up with him at my side. I don’t remember how I got him or how I even got here. but he’s no older then I believe it or not.” Vanitas looked up at the male and was met with the sight of Terra looking more then a little confused by his words. that’s when he remembered that only his Tribe knew that he wasn’t originally from this Tribe. He had forgotten that Terra and Eraqus didn’t know, and now that he said that, he wondered if he had just screwed this entire ceremony over. Terra must have noticed his worry of him taking a seat next to him and placing a hand on his lower back in a comforting manner was anything to go by. “I- uh…” he trailed off, finding himself overwhelmed with nerves. He cleared his throat and kept his eyes locked onto his Mount’s face. “I was found by Tribe Leader Xehanort years ago. I was starving and hurt pretty bad. that first year or two with him during my recovery period are hazy at best. So I don’t remember much. But Hypo here has always been there with me. Hes not even fully grown yet, or so we think anyway.” The raven shrugged as he smiled at his mount who let out a long yawn, lifting his head and shaking it for a moment. “We aren’t sure why he looks the way he does either. but we assume it’s because of a genetic mutation. But its all assumptions.”

Terra nodded falling silent again. despite everything, and Vanitas wasn’t someone who clearly was a bad person, but many of his tribe members had been killed or wounded due to that Rex that Vanitas had. Of course, it wasn’t all of his own fault either. Vanitas’ tribe were excerpts when it came to combat and fighting with predator Creatures. So any tribe that went head on against his were often cashed away covered in blood and carrying the bodies of their fallen warriors. The last battle his and Vanitas’ Tribe had it ended in far more death then many of their other battles had ever ended in. and when Terra and his Rex; Ash had confronted Vanitas and Hypo he was shocked when the raven had gone several shades paler then usual, turned tail and ran instead of standing his ground. Neither Tribe won that day after Vanitas ran. Both Tribes were shocked by this and ended the fight almost as soon as it started, each going back home to lick their wounds and treat their wounded, as well as put their dead to rest. That’s when Terra had started to think about Vanitas a lot more, there had always been something strange but interesting about him. part of him had even wanted to take a chance to just sneak off to speak to him. however, that was dashed and pushed aside when Xehanort came to their village, offering an agreement that could lead to both of their tribe benefiting. At first he had been excited to hear what the man had to say, but that excitement turned to shock when he said he was willing to offer up his son; Vanitas for marriage to him so that their Tribes would unit and the fighting would not only end but it would mean both territories would be shared and thus making life for each tribe so much easier. Terra was not happy that he was basically being offered Vanitas as a bargaining chip. What was even worse was that his own father had agreed to it.

He wouldn’t have been so angry if he had a say in it. its not like he would have said no, after all, it would make life easier for their people. And then his friends; Aqua and Ventus wouldn’t have to risk their lives so much when they went out to hunt or help gather food. He would have been willing to accept it if he had just been included in these talks. He was all for doing what was necessary to help his tribe, especially if it made their lives easier and meant they wouldn’t be getting slaughtered anymore. But that hadn’t been the case here, he had just been thrown into this agreement and without so much as a word said to him until only a few weeks ago. since then, he and Vantias had met more often then ever before, these meetings weren’t pleasant during that time, he was mad, angry. and it showed in the way he came off as professional as possible and just cold when he spoke to Vanitas. Hell, even when he craved the wooden charm that would traditionally be given to the women in his Tribe, but it could easily be worn by men as well, but either way when he carved the charm and gave it to Vantias he had said it was only due to tradition, nothing more and nothing less. Outwardly, Vanitas accepted it with grace. But when he looked at the raven in the eyes, he saw hurt, sadness. It shot a pang of guilt into his chest. So, on that day he had told himself that he would try to be a little nicer to him. it didn’t work over night, but he was warming up to the raven slowly. Today had been one of the few times he and Vanitas were left alone to talk and like always it was always weird, but Terra knew it was due to him coming off so cold and harsh with the other male who also had no say in this entire thing. When he looked at the golden eyed male he saw him looking down at the charm, holding it between his fingers as they sat in silence.

“I know you must be disappointed in the match up,” Vanitas started saying, looking at him as he started speaking, his fingers tightening on the wooden charm. “But if it’s any consolation….i’m not disappointed.”

Terra blushed darkly, and it didn’t help that the raven had his own blush on his face as well. Terra couldn’t help but smile and chuckle slightly. maybe this marriage wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Jurassic Portal Cast Notes

Here’s a condensed version of my ideas about the characters' roles in the Jurassic Portal AU! I took out a few details/spoilers in case I do write this whole thing out, but otherwise this is everything! I think casting the characters was fun and fairly easy - it’s just making the details of the story work that’s a little harder. But I like a challenge. If any of you folks have ideas for how to improve this, feel free to let me know~

[Chell]

Chell is a paleontological consultant brought in to assess the park. Like (book) Sarah Harding, she’s an action hero type trying to observe the dinosaurs but also keep everyone alive. She’s great with guns, especially rifles and rockets, similar to her handling of the Portal device in the game. Her having a partner, like how Grant and Ellie worked together, would be fun. But I’d also like to keep Mel as an Olympian, not a paleontologist. Rick could be a paleontologist, but I can’t see him and Chell working together. If anything, they could be arch academic foes, like a modern Bone Wars, or maybe they believe very different theories about certain dinosaur behavior.

[Cave Johnson]

Obviously, Cave is comparable to Hammond. In fact, Cave and (book) Hammond have similar personalities, both being short-tempered, impatient, and focused on business. (Book) Hammond didn’t listen to Wu’s warnings about how fast the dinosaurs were, etc. and Cave doesn’t listen to his staff because “safe science” isn’t worth his time. Cave creates the park to make money and push the limits of his cloning technology. He ends up making Glados and other modified dinosaurs just to see what can be done. He might even release all the dinosaurs to intermingle on the island because why not?

[Glados]

Glados is a modified dinosaur made from a mix of different species. She was created to push the limits of the technology. The idea was also that if anything went wrong with the animals, Cave would have a bigger fish - but the implants in her brain designed to control her failed/ she destroyed them. She’s been loose, queen of the park, ever since.

[Caroline]

So far in my casting, the role of head geneticist/Wu was missing. I feel like this is a good role for Caroline. She creates the dinosaurs but Cave has her do some things against her better judgement. The Gladosaur is created to be the perfect dinosaur, and it’s named after her - I’m thinking her name is Caroline Gladly or something like that, and Gladosaurus rex is the king of her creations. Caroline was also originally given control of Glados.

[Doug]

Doug is the game warden/ Robert Muldoon character in this AU. He worked for the company but he’s been cleverly outsmarting the dinosaurs, especially Glados, for months. Possibly he leaves notes and scrawlings around for the others and at first they don’t know if he’s alive or dead, but eventually they discover him surviving in some building somewhere on the island. Before this he hangs out in the control room with Virgil.

[Wheatley]

Wheatley is a park guide who’s worked several odd jobs for the park. He guides Chell and others through the destroyed park, since he knows the maps and jeep trails so well. When they first encounter Glados and are attacked, Wheatley tries to run for it but Glados grabs him in her mouth and throws him into the jungle. Thus he’s injured, like in the game and similar to Malcolm in the book. He is found and makes a recovery, but he then takes control of the park and betrays the other character, leaving them for dead with the dinosaurs. So he’s also comparable to Nedry in that he gets into the system and messes things up for everyone else.

[Fact Core]

Fact has a role similar to Malcolm’s in the books. He was brought in to assess the park. He spouts a lot of scientific facts and is arrogant about it, but he’s right. His facts about chaos and paleontology are correct and helpful at times, even if they’re annoying.

[Space Core]

Space is a kid visiting the park. In JP, Tim and Lex are Hammond’s grandkids, but I can’t imagine Cave Johnson having grandkids, so I’ll have to find another way to tie them into the story. I figure the main idea is that kids are a big part of the target audience for the park. In this AU, Space is likely obsessed with dinosaurs instead of space. I’d like for him to have a sibling, since there were two Murphy kids in JP. I’m thinking Curiosity could be his younger sister. Or maybe they’re twins and they’re both pretty young.

[Rick]

Rick is a tricky one to place. The obvious thing for him would be a role comparable to Robert Muldoon. However I’d like there to be more than one paleontologist at the park, so having Rick as an outdoorsy paleontologist could be fun too. I guess the issue is that Rick is thought of as being kinda lacking on brains and he’d have to be smarter to be a paleontologist.

[Atlas and P-Body]

Two intelligent dinosaurs. Possibly they’re large raptors, but they might be two different species. They always travel together and are friendly enough with humans. Maybe Doug trained them the way Owen trained the raptors in JW. I imagine they wear cameras or something like that, something that makes them useful to the humans in figuring out where Glados is and trying to survive.

[Mel]

I would like Mel to still be an Olympian in this AU. Her amazing running might make for a fun scene where she outruns a dinosaur, similar to Ellie escaping the raptors in the book. Not sure how to tie her into the whole paleontology thing. Maybe she’s friends with Virgil, who works at the park, and was coming to visit him when things got crazy. She and Chell are friends/ become friends, but Mel isn’t as good with weaponry as Chell.

[Virgil]

His role is comparable to Arnold’s. He spends most his time in the control room, overseeing the park system and deciding what to do about problems, like downed fences. Later, he’s the one directing the others (mostly Mel) in how to restart the proper power. Virgil and Mel are also old friends - whether from some kind of private schooling or something else in their past I’m not sure.

Missing roles from Jurassic Park:

[Harding, the veterinarian]

Someone has to patch Wheatley up. Harding was also important in the book because he transported character around the island. Otherwise his role is pretty small.

[Ed Regis / Donald Gennaro]

These characters were combined in the film. In the book, Regis is a PR guy for the park, and Gennaro is a lawyer checking out the park due to legal concerns. I figure since Wheatley is a park guide, he could kind cover the Regis role. In fact, Regis isn’t needed that much in the story. (book) Gennaro also doesn’t do much until he kinda becomes a hero at the end of the story, helping to stop the raptors. Both of these characters/roles could honestly probably be cut.

Warlords stellen gegen die Fürstenfeld Raptors auf 3 – 0 in Spielen

Durch Verletzungen dezimiert reisten die Wiener am 30.04. in die Steiermark um dort ihr drittes Saisonspiel auszutragen. 1st Quarter: Im ersten Viertel beherrschten vorerst die Defenses der beiden Kontrahenten das Geschehen. Ein Fumble der Gastgeber, welcher durch Linebacker Philipp Varga recovered werden konnte, führte zu einem Turnover. Die Offense der Warlords kam zwar in sehr guter Feldposition ins Spiel, jedoch stand die Raptors-Defense stark in der Endzone und konnte vorerst den ersten Score der Gäste durch eine Interception verhindern. Die Warlords-Defense zwang die Steirer jedoch nach 3 Versuchen erneut zu einem Punt, wodurch der Angriff der Wiener ins Rollen kam. Mit einem 50-Yards-Pass bediente QB Daniel Dallinger, den an diesem Tag als Receiver aufgestellten, Backup-QB Marcel Mayerhofer welcher den Ball auf die 1-Yard-Linie trug. Ein Run durch RB Matthias Moser führte dann zum ersten Touchdown der Begegnung und durch den guten PAT stellte Michael Tokarz auf 0:7 aus Sicht der Gastgeber.

Dallinger-Parade im 2nd Quarter: Im zweiten Quarter ging es weiter, wie es im Ersten aufgehört hatte. Die Raptors Offense konnte von der, zu diesem Zeitpunkt, starken Warlords Defense schnell gestoppt werden. Durch eine gute Kombination von Lauf- und Passspielzügen gelang es Daniel Dallinger seine Offense schnell übers Feld zu führen und den Drive mit einem TD-Wurf auf seinen Bruder Manuel Dallinger zu beenden. Der Extrapunkt landete wieder zwischen den Posts und so stand es 0:14. Dieser Spielstand blieb jedoch nicht lange bestehen. Ein Big-Play der Fürstenfelder, in Form eines 80-Yards-Laufes, führte zum ersten Touchdown für die Raptors, welche den PAT zum 7:14 verwerteten. Nach einigen Defensive Stops auf beiden Seiten, waren es wieder die Gäste welche über das Feld marschierten. Den Schlusspunkt des Drives setzten erneut Daniel Dallinger und sein WR-Bruder Manuel Dallinger mit einem 10-Yards Passingtouchdown. Der erfolgreiche PAT komplettierte eine 7:21 Führung der Wiener. Mit etwa 1:30 Minuten auf der Gameclock, kamen die Raptors wieder in Ballbesitz und hatten die Chance vor der Halbzeitpause auf ein Onescore-Game zu stellen. Allerdings holte sich Linebacker Michael Dallinger, in diesem Spiel aus Personalknappheit auf Safety aufgestellt, kurz vor Ende des 2. Viertels eine Interception und beendete somit die erste Halbzeit. 3rd Quarter: Nach der Halbzeitpause kamen die Warlords konzentriert aus der Kabine und konnten gleich im ersten Drive erneut Punkte aufs Scoreboard bringen. Nach einigen langen Passspielzügen, gelang es Daniel Dallinger mittels Sneak auf 7:28 zu stellen. (PAT GOOD) Nach einem erneuten Stopp durch die Wiener Defense, zeigten die Steirer Kampfgeist. Eine Interception durch die Raptors Defense führte ihre Offense in guter Feldposition zurück ins Spiel. Ein 10-Yards-Run brachte dann die hart umkämpften Punkte aufs Scoreboard. Mit dem erfolgreichen PAT stellte der Kicker auf 14:28. Einer weiteren Interception durch die starke Fürstenfelder Defense folgte eine Fumble-Recovery durch Defensive End Isa Umaew. Dieses Mal ließ sich der Wiener Angriff nicht noch einmal bitten und so war es WR Kay Robin Bacher mit einem 30-Yards-Touchdowncatch, welcher auf 14:35 stellte. (PAT GOOD) 4th Quarter: Der erste Drive der Gäste startete auf der eigenen 1-Yard-Line. Nach einem erreichten First-Down war man jedoch zum punten gezwungen. Ein schlechter Snap führte zu einem Safety und somit zu zwei Punkten für die Gastgeber – neuer Stand 16:35. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an, wurden immer mehr Rookies in die Linien der Warlords hinein rotiert, um auch den Neuzugängen eine Möglichkeit auf Spielpraxis zu geben. Gleich im nächsten Drive konnten die Raptors mit einem schönen 20-Yards-Pass und geglücktem PAT auf 23:35 stellen und den Rückstand verkürzen. Im darauffolgenden Drive der Warlords war es erneut RB Matthias Moser, der einige Tackles brach, zu einem 20-Yards-Rushingtouchdown lief und auf 23:42 stellte. (PAT GOOD) Mit etwa einer Minute auf der Uhr bekamen die Hausherren den Ball noch einmal in die Hände und konnten ihren Drive in den letzten Sekunden mit einem Laufspielzug in Punkte verwandeln! Somit endete ein von Strafen geplagtes und hart umkämpftes Spiel in der Steiermark mit 30:42 für die Warlords aus Wien, welche mit ihrem dritten Sieg im dritten Spiel an der Tabellenspitze bleiben.
