Jigarthanda DoubleX: A Genre-Bending Masterpiece

If you're looking for a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll, then Jigarthanda DoubleX is a must-watch. The cinematography is phenomenal. The way director Karthik Subbaraj blends the gritty realism of the first half with the stunning visuals of the Western-inspired second half is truly impressive.

Here are some of the film's strengths based on my opinion:

Genre-Bending Brilliance: Subbaraj takes a bold risk by shifting gears halfway through, and it pays off. The film cleverly combines elements of gangster film, social commentary, and Western homage.

Top-Notch Performances: Both SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence deliver career-defining performances. Suryah's portrayal of the determined filmmaker is nuanced, while Lawrence brings a surprising depth to the complex character of the gangster.

Powerful Music: Santhosh Narayanan's score perfectly complements the film's mood and energy, from the tense first half to the epic second half.

Of course, no film is perfect, and some viewers found the pacing of the first half a bit slow. However, the strong performances, the genre-bending narrative, and the stunning visuals make Jigarthanda DoubleX a truly unforgettable cinematic experience.

I highly recommend recommending this film to others who appreciate ambitious filmmaking and strong performances.

In the making for nearly two years, Ram Charan's Game Changer is likely to be delayed further due to continuous breaks in the shooting schedules. The Shankar Shanmugam directional was initially supposed to hit the screens in 2023, but it was postponed to 2024. While everyone expected the film to release for Sankranti, it has been pushed further because of the inordinate delay. Now, the Summer release also looks doubtful because of Ram Charan's unavailability. It is a known fact that Charan and his wife welcomed a baby girl last week. The RRR actor will be away from his profession for one more month to look after the baby. Sources revealed that Charan will take a paternity leave and the same has already been informed to the team of Game Changer. So, Shankar is currently busy completing his upcoming film Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan. He will resume Game Changer in August. The Mysore schedule which was supposed to happen earlier this month has been deferred indefinitely. So, the resumption will happen only in mid-August. There is still a considerable portion of the talkie part left. And, Shankar needs ample time for the post production activities. Hence, Game Changer is likely to release in late Summer. As of now, there is no clarity on the release date. Game Changer stars Kiara Advani, Anjali, SJ Suryah, and Srikanth in significant roles. Dil Raju is producing the film and SS Thaman is composing the tunes.

*GOA, India —28th November, 2022* — Prime Video, India’s most-loved entertainment destination, presented an exclusive screening for its upcoming Tamil crime thriller, Vadhandhi – The Fable of Velonie, at the ongoing 53rd edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Asia’s oldest and India’s most iconic international film festival. The first-look showcase opened to a packed house and the series was appreciated for its visual treatment, gripping plot and powerful performances. Much like its title Vadhandhi, which means rumours, the show takes you into the world of young and beautiful Velonie, played by debutante, Sanjana, whose story is riddled with rumours. A troubled but determined cop, played by S.J. Suryah, finds himself caught in the web of lies but is hell bent on finding the truth.

The screening was preceded by an interaction with Aparna Purohit, Head of Originals, Prime Video, India and the cast and creators of the series – Creative Producers Pushkar and Gayatri; writer, director and creator Andrew Louis; lead actor SJ Suryah and debutante actor Sanjana, who plays the titular role in the series. They shared with the audience, interesting anecdotes about the making of the series, and the reach of local content worldwide.
