How do I get into THE IDOLM@STER?

...is a very frequent question we idolmaster fans get!

I recently got a message from someone asking me if I could make a post answering this question, and I said I would try. I'm very bad at explaining things, but idolmaster is my biggest special interest, and I am always really happy to try to get people into it.

Before we start, I want to remind you that Idolmaster has no localization. All translations are fanmade. Please remember to support translators. I'll leave as many resources as possible. If you have any translators or sites you'd like me to mention, please let me know.

If you're willing to try and get into it, please open the readmore. I wont only be including Cinderella Girls, I'll try to include every branch.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Cinderella Girls?

Alright, I know I said I wouldn't only be including CG, but this is still a deresute gif blog. I know what most of you are here for.

Cinderella Girls is a huge branch. There's 190 idols. I see some people backing out when they realize this, but I don't think that should discourage you! With that many idols, you're guaranteed to find someone for you. And please, just because you think the voiced girls are more worth your time, please check out the unvoiced ones as well.

Alright, but how do you get into it?

There's a lot of Youtube channels that translate different commus from it. From card lines, to memorial commus, to entire events. Simply search "deresute translation" if you'd like. HNKM_days on Twitter also translates most of the events as they come out.

CG's music is great! there's tons of uploads on soundcloud. My soundcloud playlist has about 200-ish songs. You can find a bunch by just searching "idolmaster".

To find more information on a song, search it up on project-imas.

Project-imas is *the* best idolmaster resource I can think of. It's entirely in English, it has every single song, CD, card — anything you can think of. I use it everyday of my life, which might sound sad but I assure you it isn't. Probably.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Million Live?

Sankyuu ML subs on YouTube does a great job at translating mirishita related content! Another personal note I wanna add is that million live has an amazing discography, and full versions of pretty much every song are on Spotify. Even tho the cast is way smaller than Cinderella Girls, there's still a lot to love about the branch. I dont play Mirishita as much as I do some of the other games, but I still consume lots of content from it and it's a lovely branch I definitely recommend you get into. As of writing this post, Mirishita is celebrating it's 6th anniversary! It's a good time to download the game. Remember, you will need a Japanese VPN or Japanese Apple ID to play it. This goes for every imas mobile game.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER SideM?

Well, this is where we're gonna have to start getting into the thorny dark side of being an idolmaster fan. SideM is a great branch which I absolutely adore, and all of it's producers are so passionate about it, however.. Bandai Namco has never been kind to it.

This year, it was announced that it's only current running game, THE IDOLM@STER SideM Growing Stars, will be ending it's service. This was extremely sudden, and hard for everyone to handle. This means that there will basically be no way to properly produce the idols. SideM won't fully die, with there being lives and such, but producing the idols is such a big part of this franchise. I don't want to make this post gloomy out of nowhere, I swear. It's just a bit touchy for now.

There's a huuuge translation masterdoc for SideM, if any of the units or characters catch your eye from the project-imas wiki page on SideM, I suggest you search for whatever idols intrigue you most in the doc. As well as the doc, you can search up "#sidemTL" on Twitter for more translations not on the doc. There's so much to love about every unit and idol, I swear it's worth your time! Even tho it's current state might steer you away, I think it's important to still appreciate the branch for what it is. Oh hey, SideM's discography is also on streaming services! Please stream Piece Montee and Secret Ornament.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Shiny Colors?

Here's ones that's been gaining traction! Luckily, it's actually a pretty accessible branch to get into, if you're willing to download the English patch. The gameplay might seem complicated and scary at first, but even that has tons of guides. I think a lot of this post is motivated by my emotions on the franchise, and I'm sorry about that, but I really mean it when I say the writing is incredible.

You can play Shinymas on your web browser here. If you search up "Shiny colors English patch" on google, you can download it using the instructions. If you're still hesitant on playing for whatever reason, you can read episodes recorded in the English patch on YouTube. I'm not exaggerating when I say the writing is amazing.

p.s if you dont care about that then I should let you know there's unlimited free ten pulls when you start the game

How do I get into the original idolmaster games? (765AS + Dearly Stars)

If you specifically want to get into the console games, there's English roms and translations of routes on Youtube, as well. Dearly Stars is currently in a very weird state, tho. You see, the 765AS girls are all in Million Live, and there's a lot of consolemas games they appear in. But for Dearly Stars, there's only one game. Which is, well, Dearly Stars. And 2/3 of the Dearly Stars just.. havent gotten content since?

I think that it's still a game you should check out, tho! There's not a single bad song in it, and even tho 3 idols might seem like an underwhelming number, they're all brilliant and very lovable. As with a good chunk of consolemas games, there's Dearly Stars translations up on YouTube! A really dedicated RyoP posted them all and I am eternally grateful to them for it.

Alright, phew. I wrote half of this at 11 am and procrastinated for a few hours then wrote more at midnight. Remember that project-imas is an insanely good resource and I encourage you to tell me if I should add more things onto this post. 100% of this post was made off the top of my head and based off of my own experience with the games. I want to mention that there's also a channel called "アイマスSUBS" that covers all the branches in terms of translations, and they've got a bunch of those. Have fun, producers!

💕 If there's no need for that, Helvi expresses her feelings with her smile - obviously - and with her hands. And I mean both touch and crafting. She will happily make her beloved something shiny and lovely and possibly enchanted, and will make sure its quality is top-notch. If she's sure her feelings are reciprocated, there's going to be a lot of physical contact whenever possible - touching, kissing, snuggling, you name it. It’s not that she’s clingy - she does respect one’s personal space and never demands from her partner to be right next to her all the time - but when they are together, she sure wants to make up for all the time apart.

💕 Arianna is not a romantic type and her main love language is giving you something to do. Partially because to her idleness is suffering and she doesn’t want you to suffer unless it’s by her own hand; partially because she believes in you and supports you and knows you well enough to entrust you with something only you can do. I’m not the type can do editing in every moments and times (like another creators), and this is one of the reasons why i don’t really gain more followers since I made this blog on 2015. Even I can make gfx or gif.

I think about do editing when Seventeen have their special events like their birthday, their comeback, etc. Sometimes I do edit when I miss Seventeen pra-debut era but yeah no ones really notice about Seventeen in their pra-debut era so I don’t gain more notes when do that kind of edits.

i found out that access were playing in Osaka the same day I arrived there, so of course I went! it was amazing!!! i also found out that they gave you a ticket to the Access Touch event where you could high-five them after the concert if you bought their new 25th anniversary compliation at the venue. I actually nearly bought it when it came out last week, but I'm glad I held off because I was able to buy it before the concert and meet them briefly afterwards!! highlights included: -the mermaid trilogy (everyone WENT OFF, hiro was literally on daisuke for most of Scandalous Blue then grabbed him right at the end and the lights went out) -daisuke throwing one of his synths up in the air just to give us a heart attack -hiro looked like a literal prince idek -after doubt and trust daichan was like AHH THAT SONG IS SO DIFFICULT TO PLAY, SO MANY FLATS and hiro was like "okay but didn't you write it?" -a video of them playing charades with their support band, daichan had to act out "daichan buying the latest iphone". none of them could guess "abeno harukas" -in the encore they did Against the Rules, GET ON THE FLOOR IF YOU GOT THAT BOOTY -one of daichan's classical music synth instrumentals happened to be the song that was my school song back when i was in high school, so that was pretty hilarious. thanks for turning it into a banger! -daichan was wearing a ridiculous cape at the start. hiro told us all to sit down and then was like "haha how are YOU gonna sit down daichan?" and daichan does this sassy cape flip and sits down at the keyboard -at the high touch event hiro started to thank me in japanese, noticed i was a foreigner and suddenly looked shocked/amazed and exclaimed "OH!! sankyuu!!! MATA NE!" i dont think I'll ever get over the look on his face!

The fact Haysin (half-shaven man is Haysin, now that I’ve gotten the villains’ names straight) is plotting above London reminds me of the 90s, where villains would do that a lot for no other reason but to look cool.

I love how Vlad’s cape appears last, so that it can drift behind him dramatically like that.

This show’s a bit monologue-driven, but nothing that isn’t highly entertaining.

Ohmigosh, was that Vlad? As a singer??? What??? That’s fantastic! Amazing! And also surprisingly sexy…not that I needed to divulge that last bit since he’s a bishie vampire as it stands, but…y’know.

I wonder why this was delayed…

Was it just me, or was Shouma’s bike/body CGI when he was riding up the hill? I like how they chose to put the bike scene over the phone call though, it would’ve been too boring otherwise.

I always like noticing when someone says “Sankyuu” rather than “Arigatou” because it’s always funny to laugh at…well, that’s a bit of an injoke between me and some classmates from Japanese class, but…yeah.

Yakusoku no Nanayamatsuri = The Promised 7th Night Festival, or something along those lines.

The hologram speaks very formally…but that’s because she’s an admin person. She’s dealing with people she’s not familiar with and might keep at arms’ length.

Have you noticed the women all dress in pink/red and the boys all dress in blue? Eesh, gender segregation, much?

This water is so obviously CGI…it’s not the most terrible-looking stuff I’ve seen in CGI, but it’s still obviously CGI.

He’s dead! Just as I was thinking all along! As soon as they started dropping hints about Shiori’s sister, I knew Atsushi was gonna be dead!

You can quite clearly see the fabric has been animated by CGI in this dance sequence. That’s probably why the movie was delayed…

There weren’t that many friend-friend pairs…only lovers and familial ones…hmm…

Muhyo and Roji’s BSI 1

Finally! Time for the start of the season to be watched!...At least, I hope so. Between the shows I’ve got, the lineup’s pretty much set.

If Kenji and Nana appear next week, they’re probably just trying to take their time with this show. Then again, they could still rush the ending…or cut out some of the middle stuff…

I find it interesting that they showed Yoichi chasing after Enchu first. By doing that, it’s almost as if Muhyo and Roji don’t matter in this show.

This adaption’s actually pretty by the book, to use a very bad pun. I think the glasses cost Roji about 300 (or was that 390?) yen, but that’s the only missing detail I’ve found so far.

What does “nice course” mean anyway? In volleyball, that is…

Welp, as much as I want to support this show, this first problem could clearly just be solved by having more communication between Rie and Taeko…

…I kind of knew this would happen, but…the lineup I have is so solid and yet I don’t think this show could compete with any of them. So, as much as I want to follow the show weekly, it’s going on hold.

I think Mast Cell was using “baka” (volume off) but the subbers went with “bonehead”, which works just as well while including an extra body pun in there! Fabulous, huh?

The giant explosion? Didn’t think they were going to talk about that, LOL. Nobody talks about things like those in ordinary shows…but then again, this isn’t an ordinary show, is it?

I mentioned in a WordPress post Planet With can be interpreted as a coming-of-age and I think that’s best encapsulated in Nezuya’s change. However, Takezo (old man) is proving that even the young at heart can “have the fire in their hearts put out”, meaning even he need to grow up…metaphorically speaking.

The dog’s Japanese name is Kakka = “His Excellency”. So why “Generalissimo”????

Whoa! Normally it’s a small TBC on the corner (bottom-right quarter of the screen), but this time it fills the entire screen…! The show’s just getting better and better!

I never realised how good the sound design was in this show. Now that I’m listening to it properly, it’s pretty amazing.

Why was the scout so small in that shot? If they wanted Hitari to show off, they should’ve gone for something more visible, y’know?

Amushi looks like Keith from Voltron…! Why do I even know what Keith looks like? Because you Netflix watchers make such a fuss over him and his sexuality!
