By Vidya Krishnan
GOA, India — My niece was just 4 years old when she turned to my sister-in-law in a packed movie theater in Mumbai and asked about gang rape for the first time.
We were watching the latest Bollywood blockbuster about vigilante justice, nationalistic fervor and, of course, gang rape. Four male characters seized the hero’s sister and dragged her away. “Where are they taking Didi?” my niece asked, using the Hindi word for “elder sister.” It was dark, but I could still make out her tiny forehead, furrowed with concern.
Didi’s gang rape took place offscreen, but it didn’t need to be shown. As instinctively as a newborn fawn senses the mortal danger posed by a fox, little girls in India sense what men are capable of.
You may wonder, “Why take a 4-year-old to such a movie?” But there is no escaping India’s rape culture; sexual terrorism is treated as the norm. Society and government institutions often excuse and protect men from the consequences of their sexual violence. Women are blamed for being assaulted and are expected to sacrifice freedom and opportunity in exchange for personal safety. This culture contaminates public life — in movies and television; in bedrooms, where female sexual consent is unknown; in the locker room talk from which young boys learn the language of rape. India’s favorite profanities are about having sex with women without their consent.
It is the specific horror of gang rape that weighs most heavily on Indian women that I know. You may have heard of the many gruesome cases of women being gang-raped, disemboweled and left for dead. When an incident rises to national attention, the kettle of outrage boils over, and women sometimes stage protests, but it passes quickly. All Indian women are victims, each one traumatized, angry, betrayed, exhausted. Many of us think about gang rape more than we care to admit.
In 2011 a woman was raped every 20 minutes in India, according to government data. The pace quickened to about every 16 minutes by 2021, when more than 31,000 rapes were reported, a 20 percent increase from the previous year. In 2021, 2,200 gang rapes were reported to authorities.
But those grotesque numbers tell only part of the story: 77 percent of Indian women who have experienced physical or sexual violence never tell anyone, according to one study. Prosecutions are rare.
Indian men may face persecution because they are Muslims, Dalits (untouchables) or ethnic minorities or for daring to challenge the corrupt powers that be. Indian women suffer because they are women. Soldiers need to believe that war won’t kill them, that only bad luck will; Indian women need to believe the same about rape, to trust that we will come back to the barracks safe each night, to be able to function at all.
Reports of violence against women in India have risen steadily over the decades, with some researchers citing a growing willingness by victims to come forward. Each rape desensitizes and prepares society to accept the next one, the evil becoming banal.
Gang rape is used as a weapon, particularly against lower castes and Muslims. The first instance that women my age remember was in 1980, when Phoolan Devi, a lower-caste teenager who had fallen in with a criminal gang, said she was abducted and repeatedly raped by a group of upper-caste attackers. She later came back with members of her gang and they killed 22 mostly upper-caste men. It was a rare instance of a brutalized woman extracting revenge. Her rape might never have made headlines without that bloody retribution.
Ms. Devi threw a spotlight on caste apartheid. The suffering of Bilkis Bano — the defining gang rape survivor of my generation — highlighted the boiling hatred that Indian institutions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Hindu nationalist, have for Muslim women.
In 2002 brutal violence between Hindus and Muslims swept through Gujarat State. Ms. Bano, then 19 and pregnant, was gang raped by an angry Hindu mob, which also killed 14 of her relatives, including her 3-year-old daughter. Critics accuse Mr. Modi — Gujarat’s top official at the time — of turning a blind eye to the riots. He has not lost an election since.
Ms. Bano’s life took a different trajectory. She repeatedly moved houses after the assault, for her family’s safety. Last August, 11 men who were sentenced to life in prison for raping her were released — on the recommendation of a review committee stacked with members of Mr. Modi’s ruling party. After they were freed, they were greeted with flower garlands by Hindu right-wingers.
The timing was suspicious: Gujarat was to hold important elections a few months later, and Mr. Modi’s party needed votes. A member of his party explained that the accused, as upper-caste Brahmins, had “good” values and did not belong in prison. Men know these rules. They wrote the rule book. What’s most terrifying is that releasing rapists could very well be a vote-getter.
After Ms. Bano, there was the young physiotherapy student who in 2012 was beaten and raped on a moving bus and penetrated with a metal rod that perforated her colon before her naked body was dumped on a busy road in New Delhi. She died of her injuries. Women protested for days, and even men took part, facing water cannons and tear gas. New anti-rape laws were framed. This time was different, we naïvely believed.
It wasn’t. In 2018 an 8-year-old Muslim girl was drugged and gang raped in a Hindu temple for days and then murdered. In 2020 a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped and later died of her injuries, her spinal cord broken.
The fear, particularly of gang rape, never fully leaves us. We go out in groups, cover ourselves, carry pepper spray and GPS tracking devices, avoid public spaces after sunset and remind ourselves to yell “fire,” not “help” if attacked. But we know that no amount of precaution will guarantee our safety.
I don’t understand gang rape. Is it some medieval desire to dominate and humiliate? Do these men, with little power over others, feeling inadequate and ordinary, need a rush of power for a few minutes?
What I do know is that other men share the blame, the countless brothers, fathers, sons, friends, neighbors and colleagues who have collectively created and sustain a system that exploits women. If women are afraid, it is because of these men. It is a protection racket of epic proportions.
I’m not asking merely for equality. I want retribution. Recompense. I want young girls to be taught about Ms. Bano and Ms. Devi. I want monuments built for them. But men just want us to forget. The release of Ms. Bano’s rapists was about male refusal to commemorate our trauma.
So we build monuments with words and our memories. We talk to one another about gang rape, keeping it at the center of our lives. We try to explain to our youngest, to start protecting them.
This is how the history of the defeated is recorded. That’s what it all boils down to: a fight between forgetting and remembering.

More people should watch indian cheesy movies from 80s and 90s and 00s and 10s coz that's literally fanfic material every single movie. 'oh I wish there was a movie where they're lost loves reincarnated and falling in love-' JATISWAR. BOOM! 'Oh she loves him but he chooses someone else but his daughter reunites them later-' KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. BOOM! 'They're strangers who meet on train and hate each other but get stranded then on good terms and fall in love but she's arranged to get married to someone else so he tries to win her family-' DDLJ. BOOM! 'Theyre academic rivals and enemies in the 60s medical school and fall in love but she finds out the truth about her birth and spirals and have a sad heartbreaking ending with religious overtones' SAPTAPADI. BOOM!
And don't get me started on wattpad and romance novel peeps like she's the eldest from a poor family but a lot of people to feed so someone tries to take advantage of her and tries to buy sex from her with money but she gets hit by the car of a millionaire and gets amnesia but he nurses her back to health and marries her but hides what happened to her to spare her but she remembers her family and pushes him away and runs away but comes back and forgives him because they truly love each other now- ALO AMAR ALO. BOOM! And this wasn't even 90s this was in fucking 1979. Y'all need to give Indian cinema the credit it deserves.
Om Shanti Om - reincarnation, true love, murder mystery, the greatest song ever summing up the entire story in 7 mins
Happy new year - found family, heist, revenge, 'dance ek aat hai ek aat. Tab Maine kab bola nau hai.'
Race 2 - zero plot. Car flies from airplane with baby parachutes. Best entertainment of my life.
Entertainment - Golden retriever gets a human brother and 200 million dollar.
Basanto Bilap - a girls' hostel and boys' hostel have been enemies. Or their leaders have been while the rest of them are dating on the down low.
Hasee toh phasee - Autistic girl and her sister's fiance fall in love. She's also a thief.
Sholay - THE bromance movie. 'Arre o samba, kitne aadmi the?' Kaz Brekker studied under Jai and Bhiru. 'Aadha aadmi udhar jao, aadha aadmi idhar jao. Baaki mere pi6e aao.'

hi!!!!!! i have questions!!!!!!
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
9. How do you find new fic to read?
30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?
49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!
Hello thank you for the ask Rowan!!!!!
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
I’m pretty proud of the different AUs in rivers; I enjoy thinking through all the chain reactions that would have had to occur for a certain set of circumstances to be in place. I’m also really happy with how the world of my Hawke/Sebastian fic is coming together, although I still need to do a lot of work before it gets someplace I’d be happy publishing (and I am impatient). The Free Marches are such a good playground!! I like the idea that Ashna’s sister is Inquisitor in this world, even though it barely comes up lol. She recruits the templars as one major change, and I like the potential mirroring of a dynamic between the Hawkes and the Trevelyans. (The more I look at what I consume and write, I really like strange family dynamics lol!)
While I'm off-topic, wedding ceremonies. Real or fictional, I'll never get tired of learning about them, lol.
9. How do you find new fic to read?
I am a very picky reader at times, haha. I usually have an idea not so much of what specifically I want to read but what kind of mood I want to be in. Sometimes I know I want like a modern AU or a specific trope, or I might have Thoughts about one part of canon and want an AU specifically about that… (ME2 Horizon...) So usually I just go on AO3 to the fandom and filter characters/pairings and explore, sometimes with specific searches. For DA in particular I love the Black Emporium Exchange collections, the rarepairs are so good!
A lot of the fandoms I want to read for are smaller, so I'll just gradually work through everything that looks interesting haha. Really often, I’ll go to authors I enjoy and check out their bookmarks; because of this, I read fandom-blind a lot and have often gotten into fandoms after reading fic, which is always a fun time (This is how I got into Dragon Age, actually! And why I’ve read so much Mad Men fic for someone who has never seen Mad Men LOL)
30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?
I think I tried to stretch myself with a heart because I'd never written a continuous multi-chapter story before. Really, I took a risk with risky business; I’d never written for Zevran or Josephine before, and I was so nervous because I wanted to do it right and on a deadline. I don't know even now if I matched up to what I wanted, but with the deadline, I had to get it out there no matter what, and I couldn’t back out; that really helped. I think now when I write and I'm going over something over and over or delaying posting, I can ask myself: is it going to get any better with the skills I have, or is posting this and moving on to something else the way to grow?
Also, every time I write sex is pushing my comfort zone lol, I always post and think "oh ok, that's out there." Slowly trying to expand said zone.
49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!
I’ve recently been sidetracked from all things Dragon Age, and have been bouncing between that Miranda/Shepard fic and this fic for a Hindi movie I watched a while back. (At this point, I'm getting distracted from distractions 😭) A few lines from the latter:
He thinks that as much as he wants to protect Akira, she is the one protecting him. From getting old and bitter and somehow from dying. Suddenly, he feels a hollowness inside him, the conspicuous lack of something. The lack of her body and her warmth pressed tight up against him. The lack of her voice and her incessant chatter. His life is very quiet without her. Figuratively speaking, which is another thing he doesn’t really do without her. This life is not conducive to metaphor.  Her pants were too big, that’s what he remembers. They lent her the extras they had, and if they were big on Krishnan, of course they’d be big on her. She had to cinch them up, and he hates the way he feels when he thinks about it.
Thank you again for the ask!!

Releases May 16th
Summary: Lila, the illegitimate daughter of an English earl and his Indian mistress, is the popular hostess of a gambling salon she runs. She is wrongfully accused by Ivor Tristram of being her father's mistress, but rather than deny it, uses it to leverage Ivor into helping her find the true culprit behind the attack on Ivor's cousin and exonerate an innocent man.
My review:
First I applaud Amita Murray on the diversity portrayed in this book. England at the time was a lot more diverse than a lot of historical romance readers like to believe, in part because historical romances tend to keep to the upper classes. Here, Amita writes not only about Lila and her sisters who skirt the edge of respectability as educated but biracial women, but also an Indian lascar (sailor) and a Black woman of Caribbean ancestry who was previously forced to prostitute herself. All from places England has colonized.
Lila lives on the fringes of a hypocritical society. People flock to her salon for entertainment after hours and indulged in Indian culture to a degree, but that also doesn't stop them from hurling out the microaggressions. Because of this, Lila does not talk about her Indian mother, and she does not speak Hindi either. Men are attracted to Lila even as they disparage her morality and her country of birth. It's difficult to stomach at times, particularly since Lila's own half-brother is one of those men.
The main conflict in this story is fast-paced and grew a lot heavier than I expected, which made me more invested. It begins with Maisie, a childhood companion reaching out to Lila about her beau Sunil, the aforementioned lascar. He has wrongfully been accused of assaulting a white woman who happens to be the hero Ivor's cousin. As the mystery unfolds, it also exposes the overlying power dynamics of nineteenth century England: Sunil, an Indian man, is being wrongfully accused of assault by an upper-class white woman, Tiffany. A white aristocrat is targeting a poorer people of color by using law enforcement and the courts against them. Tiffany is upset after the attempted assault because she feels like the men around her are condescending her. They are all situations that resonated with me, I imagine will resonate with many other historical romance readers.
There's surprisingly little animosity between Lila and Ivor initially, despite Lila ostensibly being Ivor's father's mistress when they first meet. They're immediately attracted to one another and there's little mention of "oh I'm attracted to them despite my best judgement because I totally hate him/her". This is a progression that worked for them: Lila is not looking to marry, and Ivor doesn't offer initially despite them sleeping together. However, as their feelings continue to grow, Ivor's jealousy over what Lila's hostess duties entail come to a head. It's always interesting to see a historical romance hero skirt the line between outright slut-shaming and expressing hurt feelings but Ivor did an admirable job lol.
The sex:
Lila and Ivor's first sexual encounter actually made me laugh a little: The second Lila admits she's not anyone's mistress, Ivor IMMEDIATELY fingers her. The Fingering of Triumph, if you will. Otherwise, the sex in this book was fairly standard for HR. Neither Ivor nor Lila are virgins. They both knew what they were doing. I did appreciate that Lila was always an active participant and wasn't afraid to ah, adjust Ivor, if necessary.
Overall:
I enjoyed this book, and the main conflict kept me on the edge of my seat. I only wish we'd gotten a little more of Ivor and Lila throughout the story rather than most of their romantic development occurring during the first half of the book. I would recommend it to anyone looking for diverse historical romances that don't skirt around societal issues that are still very relevant today.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Can “1920: Horrors Of The Heart” Make You Feel The Fear?
Tumblr media
Let me narrate to you the tale of the vengeful heart with 1920: Horrors Of The Heart. As Meghna’s father commits suicide, she seeks to avenge his death from her deceitful mother. As Meghna goes to her mother’s mansion to seek vengeance, unexpected things happen which make her aware of a hidden truth. Written by Mahesh Bhatt, produced by Vikram Bhatt, and directed by Krishna Bhatt, 1920: Horrors Of The Heart was released across theaters on June 23, 2023. https://youtu.be/97mQJHV6yTg To check out my full narration of the story, click here. In the meantime, check out my honest opinion! 1920: Horrors Of The Heart Official Trailer: https://youtu.be/cLthAiz_PnQ The Good: The story of 1920: Horrors Of The Heart is captivating. A girl trying to seek revenge for the wrong done by her deceitful mother to her late father, and later her finding out that it was her father who was the actual villain is for sure engrossing. However, even if the story is entertaining, the way the filmmakers have presented this thrilling and chilling drama on-screen is not up to the mark. If I would have made this film, I would have loaded it with twists and turns that would have instilled suspense in the minds of the audience with every passing moment. Still, the dialogues in 1920: Horrors Of The Heart are vengeful and impactful at the same time. The movie indeed has powerful dialogues by Avika Gor who, as Meghna, is bent upon avenging the death of her father. https://youtu.be/SIF0ZqShqLs The best parts of 1920: Horrors Of The Heart are its cinematography and songs. The dark and mystical visuals coupled with the old-fashioned interiors of the 1920s era created a marvelous viewing experience. And the songs! They are extraordinarily beautiful and melodious. They sound like honey to the ears and I believe, 1920: Horrors Of The Heart has the best songs that Bollywood has ever produced. The magical melodious voices of singers Raj Barman, Palak Muchhal, and Papon will instill a heavenly experience that will make you take a deep dive into an ocean of emotions. https://youtu.be/T5oSuk_v3cQ The Bad: After all, it is Bollywood! Bollywood has a very different approach to making horror films compared to Hollywood. Mainly, it is the Bhatt family who is involved in making horror movies in Bollywood. And the main substance in Bhatt’s horror movies is sex! The Bhatt family’s obsession with sex in films dates back decades. I know this because I have been watching their horror movies since my childhood, and all of them have steamy sex scenes. Just like any other Bhatt horror movie, 1920: Horrors Of The Heart directed by Vikram Bhatt’s daughter Krishna Bhatt contains steamy scenes between Avika Gor who plays Meghna, and Deepak Pandor who plays her boyfriend Arjun. I mean, why? You tag a movie as a “family” horror-drama, and then how could you think you can watch such explicit scenes along with your family which may comprise your mom, dad, brother, and sister? https://youtu.be/Xgrj_xnfVtc I have seen Avika Gor in Hindi television serials since she was a child actor. She is well known for playing the role of the child bride “Anandi” in the Indian television series “Balika Vadhu”. And now she is all grown up and it was shocking for me to see her in her debut Bollywood movie giving all steamy scenes with her co-actor. More than the sex scenes, the worst part of 1920: Horrors Of The Heart is its screenplay. Even if the story was thrilling, the filmmakers just couldn’t present it properly because of which the essence of horror, suspense, and thrill was lost as the screenplay proceeded. There were funny instances too which should never be there if you are making a genuine horror movie. Firstly, Meghna’s father's spirit (Randheer Rai) looked just like an ordinary man. When you are portraying him as a ghost, the audience expects you to give him a freaky look which can scare the shit out of anybody. In one scene, it can be seen that Meghna calls her father’s spirit and he seemed very dejected. Then she catches hold of his cheeks with her hand and stares at him and said, “Father, you need to seek revenge for what Mom has done to you!” This was hilarious. Does anybody talk to a ghost in this manner? Deepak Pandor is an unknown struggler in Bollywood. I have never heard of him before and his performance is equally bad. I mean, he is presented as a powerful sorcerer in this movie and his personality does not seem to fit the role. Barkha Bisht as Meghna’s mother Radhika, and Rahul Dev as Radhika’s boyfriend Shantanu looked convincing in their roles. The ghostly makeup of child actor Ketaki Kulkarni who plays Aditi was not up to the mark. If you look closely, you can very well make out that her face has been applied with makeup to look evil and ghostly. That really spoils the horror essence. Even if this film has a short run duration of 2 hours, I just cannot praise its editing as the screenplay and direction were poor. https://youtu.be/k9qmWZglh4o The Verdict: If you ask me, I would say that the element of horror is very much missing from 1920: Horrors Of The Heart. The film fails to scare the audience which is expected from any genuine horror movie. If only Krishna Bhatt had given more effort in formulating the screenplay in a better manner. Vikram Bhatt has been making horror movies for ages and it seems that his approach to making horror movies has remained stagnant with time. Now he has passed on his directorial crown to his daughter Krishna Bhatt and it seems that she too is continuing her dad’s legacy of making outdated and boring horror movies that fail to instill fear. The lead character Meghna played by Avika Gor looked confused and irritated throughout the movie which made the viewing experience even more unpleasant. The astonishing part about this movie is that both Danish Pandor and Randheer Rai are of the same age in real life, but Danish plays Meghna’s boyfriend whereas Randheer plays her dead father. 1920 is a film franchise that has been running for decades. The first movie, Vikram Bhatt’s “1920” was released in 2008, then came “1920: Evil Returns” in 2012, following that “1920: London” in 2016, then suddenly the name changed to “1921” in 2018, and finally, “1920: Horrors Of The Heart” was released in 2023. Bhatt’s obsession with the 1920 franchise will continue but the sad part is that if you compare these horror movies with the amazing horror movies that they make in Hollywood, you will agree to the fact that they simply fail in the name of instilling fear. https://youtu.be/z34FR7U5RdI If you have seen some of the earlier released horror movies of Vikram Bhatt like Haunted, you would have fallen from your chair. Haunted showed the hero going one-on-one with an evil spirit in hand-to-hand combat! That was hilarious! You have to see it to believe it! So, these Bollywood-style horror movies made by Vikram Bhatt have action too. Of course, Bollywood, at times, can never part ways with action, even if it is a horror film. Anything for the sake of entertainment! https://youtu.be/HYhVgRX2w9I   Read the full article

Dearest Future Husband,
I haven't wrote to you since 2022 and I hope you forgive me for not keeping in touch. Today is the Epiphany of the Lord and last day of Christmas, as far as I heard. I don't know if you know things like that but you don't have to. In connection to that, I just want to share with you an epiphany I had today.
When I was younger and surface-leveled I always thought and believed that having a friendship with a boy/man immediately means it will develop into something more. That the friendship will turn into something romantic. As I grow older, I've become completely protective of my close guy friendships. Protective in a way that I know I wouldn't want anything more to happen between us because I appreciate our rare friendship more than what I can gain if I entertain the thought of being more than friends. I have strong boundaries now and I'm so proud of the woman I'm becoming because of that. I'm still not the best nor am I perfect but I think I'm becoming a better human in totality.
Anyway, I think it's because I haven't had sex in such a long time that I failed that aspect a couple of days ago. So I met this guy online and he added me on Facebook because he thought I was his sister's friend. He's a couple of years younger than me and we'll call him B1 because we both have the same name initials (Sorry, honey. You're my OG! I promise. 😂) I can say I became instantly close to him yet I haven't even met him in person! Our friendship and connection wasn't forced. Things just sort of happened and I like it when things happen like that organically and I think you should know that by now. We even had a call conversation one time around 3 or 4am and we talked until 5 or 6 in the morning! So anyway, we were so comfortable with each other that we got to share our past dark secrets and struggles that I think he got so comfortable, our conversation led to something I didn't want to happen. I didn't even tried to flirt with B1 once because I just really see him as a bro. I said no at first but curiosity and debauchery got the best of me so I lit a fire to a fast-burning match. I had a moment of weakness where I fed his desire and we almost both wanted it but decided maybe we should rethink about it. I told him I can't be the reason his pastoral journey will all be put to waste just because he wants to fuck me and feed his bodily lusts. I want to have sex, of course. At this point I think I may just do it with anyone who I have a real connection with just as long as I trust them and they trust me.
So after that momentary lapse, we decided to reset. We decided we need to help each other so we deleted our first thread where our first conversation was made. We had a talk that we must meet sometime when he gets back from the ship because he is serving the seamen crew. So why am I telling you this story? It's because I hope when we meet our connection is just as organic as this. I hope when we meet you won't get intimidated by me or the riches you will see because truthfully, I'd rather have a simple life with you. Heck, we can live on nipa hut in a province or a cottagecore home away from the city and I'll be happy and content! I hope when you meet me, you will see me for me and the beauty of my heart not only my physical body nor my skin or how sweet-sounding my voice is. I hope when you meet me you are sure and committed to pursue me courageously. I pray that when you meet me, I am closer to being the woman of your dreams. I love you and I miss you. I hope you're having a good start of the year so far and I hope you didn't spend the new year alone. Because the first eight days of my 2023? My god, I have to say I am the luckiest girl in the world!
I have a feeling you will come to me soon. I keep saying this and I said this last year pero hindi ka dumating! Hahaha. Pero I had a prophetic dream about you on the day of mom's birthday. My church elder said: "Wait for it. It will come soon." And I know my church elder was talking about you because I know he was talking about love. Then praise and dancing was also in the dream and a word of God came to me in my dream again that said: "Your joy comes from the Lord."
And wait for you, my love, I shall.
This I promise you,
J

First off:
Hi guys, I unhid my previous sex story posts due to some request. I hid them  few months ago kasi I felt bad about it (nagka existential crises ako haha) pero now I'm seeing them under a different lense. Hope you guys enjoy as much as I did. They are true stories, even if medyo mahirap paniwalaan for some. Heck, I can't blame them kahit ako nahihiwagaan parin hanggang ngayon.
A bit of history: Even when I was a kid, I never stood out. I was a shy boy, I always kept to myself, I always wanted to be alone, and if I needed to be with anyone I wanted to be with my younger brother kasi sakanya lang ako sanay makipag usap and socialize. Come highschool my parents sent me to a minor seminary at the young age of 11 years old. A minor seminary is an all boy private school with the initial goal of training young boys and inculcating them into priesthood someday. During my four years there, I was with boys who were so good looking, sociable, and smart, that guys like me never really stood out, props lang kami sakanila. We're all like brothers there pero when we have events with other schools, talagang yung mga pogi lang ang napapansin. My classmates are mostly half-americans, europeans, or belong to families with long histories that can be traced back to the spanish era dito sa province namin. Imagine having a prominent last name, good genes, and enourmous clout, good at sports and music. Talagang guys like me who are chubby, not good at sports, tama lang sa music, no good genes to compliment my looks, do not belong to a prominent family, no clout, eh talagang as you progress through high school mababa ang self-esteem. At third year highschool, my classmates where already kissing girls, already held boobs and pussy, and I personally saw two of my classmates go into a room with girls, naturally naisip ko nag sex sila. Well, that basically where I stand. Since we were in a seminary, we had foreign laguages in our curriculum like: Spanish and Ecclesiastical Latin. We had them for four years and we were rigurously trained, this came in handy someday. Doon na ako nag focus.
Come college, I went to Metro Manila to pursue my "vocation" in a major seminary. Hindi ko na papangalanan hahaha. A major seminary is a place where young adults usually go to be a priest. They generally take up Classical Philosophy and go to other universities for other subjects like for example for Metaphysics and Anthrophology we went to ADMU for that, for Classical Music, Botany and Zoology we went to UP for that. For Advanced Latin in house na lang iyon. For Mandarin we went to UST for that. So kahit nasan seminary kami nakaklabas kami and may classmates na akong mga babae at nakakalabas na. You might think, so ano naman? pretty normal shit right? No sir not for us, lalo na sakin na ang highschool sa seminary. I was socially awkward, I couldn't even talk to girl properly, I can't even sit beside them, I couldn't even be normal around them. Until when we did NSTP in Tayuman, sa Sisters of Charity where we were with other people as well. I was assigned to do laundry with these girls from DLSU and UST. We did that for a semester. As they asked about me, nalaman nila itong origin story ko, and that being the source of my inability to properly socialize with girls. Ito wholesome to. They slowly helped me. They ate lunch with me, took me out to the mall with them, and took me out places. Simula noon, I was little by little able to adjust. Simula noon, hindi na ako nahihiya and awkward. Siguro dahil sakanila, I "grew up" softer compared to the other men, I grew up more sensitive, and that brought with it that sense of harmlessness. I tell you brodies, kung hindi siguro sakanila, I would've tunred out different. Siguro kung na expose ako sa mga brusko na mga fuckboy na group hindi siguro ako nakapag develop ng passive skill na ito which women dig. Until I went out of the seminary and transferred to the province. Where I was able to maximize this "power".
Sorry for the long history bros, I just really needed you to see where I came from for context.
Anyway, most of the stories na ikekwento ko dito are already posted in my profile. Just chek them out if you haven't already. Here are my tips, If I may:
ON SOCIALIZING (Friends): Always be attentive, always appear to listen even if its not interesting or they're merely ranting, always react organically. Know when they need someone to listen, or if they are looking for advice. Kasi if they just need someone to listen and ikaw naman itong advice ng advice, you might just find yourself seen on a different light. It might set you back a few months or weeks. Do not touch them, unless they touch you first. Alway be cheery but not too much as to apear forced. Always be lean forawrd when listening while looking at their eyes, that way they know they have your full attention. When speaking, always speak in neutrality and with benefit of the doubt, unless the situation calls for you to have an immediate decision. When going places, always offer to accompany them or look for girl-friends to accompany them. On clothing, always look out for open buttons, exposed bra straps, possible up-skirts, and what have you. Inform them of waht you have noticed in a calm and nice manner and when they are unable to fix it, offer and ask for consent to fix it in a private place. Amoung other things, this is the general theme of your docorum.
ON SOCIALIZING (New People): On meeting new people, this usually happens at parties, mga inuman, mga birthdays, anywhere. For example you find yourslef on a big table with rotating booze, friends having conversations with other friends, if you happen to meet eyes with a girl you don't know raise your eyebrows with a smile as an open invitation for friendship. You can also include raising your glass to them and then break off eye contact, to avoid being creepy. On moments where in after a few hours of socializing people walk around and talk to people, when introduced to new girls just offer a handshake and looka at them in the eyes and say your first name. Then break off eye contact. In moments you find yourself in company with a girl you like to befriend, always find way to solicit new information that you can use to open up new topics of conversation. When familiarity permits, move in close to them and continue the conversation, when you think you have established your friendship, ask for their socials by saying something like "You know can I add you on facebook or IG? Its always good to know more friends at parties like this." Play it off casually and when you have acheived your goal, invite them back to the group of take her to a group where both of you can know more people, and who knows you might get a chance to add more girls. Although this is not as simple as it sounds, this is something that I have done that has, not on purpose, gotten me laid. Do not be a creep. Always feel the atmosphere, if she feels like leaving let her leave gracefully. After the party, when you have already befreinded them on FB or IG, routinely give them a heart or a haha, whichever the situation demands. it hard to land new people but its always worth a shot.
Moments and openings of lust and sex will arrive and when they do you seize it. It doesn'y matter the looks of the woman, as long as you have genuine feelings about it take it. The more you experience this the more confident you become. Eventually you'll land on your dreams and you'll enjoy it.
It is hard to organically apply this to everyday life not to mention we all have different personalities. But this is me trying my best to share my ways in hopes of other guys like me to step into the gates of valhalla.
I rate myself 5-6 out of 10, and I waited years to get laid, literally years. I hope you guys pick something up from this. Nakakahiya mag post nito parang naman ang ganda kong lalaki but this is a response to those people who have been flooding my DMs asking for tips haha.
Keep safe bros and sis. May you all have a flourishign sex life.
Basta do not throw those pick-up lines, do not act like a fuck boy, alam nyo na yung mga toxic na iyon. In short be the best gentleman you can be and find yourself eventually balls deep inside a pussy kasi, charming at mabait ka.

since like one (1) of u asked.
the thing is that typically - historically - romance is written by women. i mean it, even when you go all the way back to the nineteenth century, the modern form of the romance novel was very much being codified by women. 20th century america is considered the peak of the romance novel, and it was practically all women. the historical romance genre is dominated by women. even the early 2000s trend of really weird erotica was mostly women.
this doesn't happen in india. famous romance novelists in india have been men for some reason - you have your chetan bhagat, ravinder singh, durjoy datta - the whole lot, yk? like you might have the occasional preeti shinoy or whatever, but on the whole the really cheap paperbacks are always going to be male writers. and if you ever sit around and wonder "ok but why is romance writing in india mostly men???? that's really weird it doesn't usually happen like that" the answer is the same for practically all of the issues you run into with writing in india. caste.
in this case, the answer is also really fucking bizarre. the reason why romance writing in india is dominated by upper caste men is because typically, women who have access and leisure to english writing publishing are upper caste, and they cannot be allowed to write romance. romance has too many connotations of titillation, cheapness and being available for the lowest common denominator, and you cannot allow the purity of upper caste women to be associated with that sort of thing.
that's really the bottom line of it. at least, that's what my diagnosis of the problem is. there's this really great essay by rachel dwyer on the indian on screen kiss - i think it's in a book edited by francesca orsini - and she comes to a similar sort of conclusion about why kisses cannot be permitted on screen in india. that upper caste actresses wouldn't want lower caste male audiences to see them like that. similarly, no one wants upper caste indian women to write romance that can be read by practically anyone - thats why when you have women in the indian publishing world writing romance, the marketing is really different! compare an anuja chauhan book to a chetan bhagat - she's an upper caste woman, the cover art for her book has those markets. it's typically priced higher, too - an anuja chauhan is going to cost you rs 350 to chetan bhagat's rs 150. there's more female writers in the market now, but i'm usually sus.
its really hard to make lists of good romance writing in india because of all these factors. i have no problems with durjoy datta and all (i think my sister loves his books) but i genuinely find it hard to get into romance written by men. HOWEVER, all of that being said, here's some of the books i've really liked:
1. Keep the Change by Nirupama Subramaniam: ok so like i read this when i was fourteen, so take this recommendation with a pinch of salt. it is painfully upper caste and tam-brahm, but i also remember it being a genuinely really funny book. also, this is a sort of one of the first examples of what is going to become a popular romance form in india - the corporate romance: cosmopolitan, sexy, urban. it's funny and all that, but it's also like a telling example of what's about to come. it's strangely like sex and city, and it is an interesting book in its own right just because of that.
2. Stupid Cupid by Mamang Dai: this is less like a tradition romance book but i,,,, love mamang dai. she's a writer from arunachal pradesh, and some of her other books are just..... *chefs kiss*. this one is lovely because it has two of the things i love: delhi and romance. a woman runs a boarding house where people come and fall in love, and it's just about delhi and it's emotions.
3. Those Pricey Thakur Girls/The House that BJ Built by Anuja Chauhan: i know i spent some time critiquing the politics behind chauhan's writing, but these two books are genuinely so funny, so well written and so cute!! especially the second one, i love that book in particular. chauhan also seems more clued in to the caste politics that back her up, but she's still on thin ice because she loves her rajput heritage. the first book is set during the emergency and has a pride and prejudice vibe, of four unmarried daughters. the second one is modern day and its more unbelievably but way romancey-er for me.
4. Gulab by Annie Zaidi: i was wondering whether i should put this book in or not, because it is less of a romance and more of a ghost story. it is a mental mind fuck, for what its worth, and really lovingly written about a man's first love. genuinely a bit creepy in parts tho, as ghost stories often are.
5. Umera Ahmed's writing: she's pretty central to the Pakistani tv drama, and a lot of her books were adapted for pakistani television. the most famous example of this is probably Zindagi Gulzar Hai, but my favourite would probably be Daam. ahmed's writing was read in translation by me, as my written urdu is really bad. these cannot exactly be classified as romance, but she does deal with love and what it means for women. one thing to be careful of when reading her writing: she is anti ahmaddiya. i won't pretend to know much about pakistani social politics, but i know that that community is very severely discriminated against.
6. Prem Kabootar by Manav Kaul: this book is in hindi, and it's a short story collection. there's an english translation callesd A Night in the Hills, but i cannot vouch for the veracity of the translation. i did love the hindi tho, the titular story is really cute! it is a lot about love and romance in different forms and times while growing up. i even had a chance to watch the play version of that story back in the before times.
Books That Aren't Good, Per Say, But Interesting To Read Category:
7. Once Upon a Curfew by Srishti Chaudhry: ok so like this book is another one set in the emergency but its really bad. its slow paced and the character growth doesnt happen naturally. the romantic hero is quite nice but the lead just doesn't make herself likeable. it's also got some veiled allusions to upper caste delhi university college cultures, and like in a celebratory way?? but on the whole its interesting to read because the emergency only just became an acceptable thing to write about, and it is interesting to see how writers are dealing with it, if you know what i mean??
8. Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal: ok so this wasn't good, like i feel like it fundamentally misread a lot of what pride and prejudice was about BUT it was interesting because there seems to be a rise of pakistani authors who look at austen. even Austenistaan by Laleen Sukhera is an example of that. i didn't have fun reading this but it's definitely interesting to read. it's nowhere close to my favourite south asian adaptation of austen, but that's a story for another time.
and that's really all i have because thats just how romance genre is in india. i will say this, though: you will find more interesting romantic story telling in hindi writing - even if it is by men. i have a copy of October Junction by Divya Prakash Dubey i was going to get at during the midterm break, and i will report on that in detail whenever i do finish it. in the meanwhile, this is genuinely all i have. on the whole, i really think you can also find far, FAR more interesting ideas of romance in cinema from india. and i don't mean bollywood (although some movies are pretty good!), i mean regional indian cinema!! some marathi movies have such lovely romances, and there's a few malyali ones that are really nice too!! once again though, thats a conversation for another time.

to dance is to unshackle
um, okay—how else do i express this buoyant happiness that Gaya sa Pelikula has awoken inside me? i’m in complete and utter awe. i did not expect a drop of what the sixth episode has brought us. more than satisfying, it’s utterly fascinating. this is quite a lengthy post, but if you have the time, please bear with me. and since we’re already here, let’s fucking dissect the shit out of this:
right off the bat, it’s sweet how consistently written Vlad was the entire time of the show. at the start of the episode, for one, he was concerned with Karl’s disposition, saying, “anong iniisip mo (what are you thinking)?” and, later on, as we know, he pops that question again in this episode. what are you thinking? always in limbo. true, it’s considerate, yet more than that, it’s always a sign of waiting for permission. Vlad has been like this since the beginning: observant and willing to reach out, confident on the surface, yes, but always afraid of going overboard.
Tumblr media
that is not to say that Karl isn’t. in fact, the whole dynamics of their relationship rest on the fact that they can lean on each other and just be honest. many moments show this: Karl’s desire to shift; Vlad not getting  into the film lab and Karl knowing something was up; the entirety of Vlad’s birthday; Karl and Vlad’s reticence to open up to Anna, in contrast with how comfortable they feel with each other. in a nutshell, they’re each other’s homes. more on this later.
the part i was most frightened at with this episode was when Karl finally told his parents his desire to shift. to be honest, personally, i wouldn’t know exactly how that pressure on Karl feels, as i was able to study the degree i wanted. yet, back then, i had already known that my parents, who wholly supported me just the same, would have wanted a degree that leaned on science or engineering. that still sucked to know. Karl’s situation is much more complicated. his desire to shift to another course is to make up for lost time, a sense of hurrying before it really becomes all too late. this was a heavy lot to take in. the disappointment and anger in his father’s face when he dropped the bomb was too much to handle. Karl had expected it, yet its impact still hurled shrapnel that he was not able to dodge, sustaining him with several wounds. it would be curious to see how his parents come to terms with his confession. i am certain that a number of people have connected with Karl here.
Tumblr media
which brings me to another point. Gaya sa Pelikula creates these characters with their own agency. it’s touted as a BL series, yes, but our two main characters’ point is actually not to fall in love — but to live, part of which is to fall in love. they have their hopes and dreams and own burdens to carry, and while falling in love takes centerstage here, we see how they can stand alone, on their own two feet. falling in love is central to their growth, but it is evident that love is not the whole point of their existence.
speaking of which: ate judit. ah, yes, where do i even begin to explain the exquisiteness with which ate judit was written? how, after all of five episodes, it was only now did it make sense why judit was overly, unnaturally caring and protective, a mama bear that would not let anything happen to his little Vlad. now we know why: guilt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
imagine that. being told you were the reason why your whole family went into shambles. there is much vindication in Vlad’s line of questioning, “why would you say that to a child?” (god, i’m tearing up even as i write this.) this was a pivotal scene, with a focal point on judit, the likes of whom we cannot entirely fault for not knowing any better. the fact remains that we are still in an era that fails to understand the spectrum of gender identities and the far utopia that we seek, where gender and sex would not be a damning classification anymore. and for true allies, it is in admitting that they “didn’t know then what [they] know now” that their support gains more strength. it is in confessing where they got wrong, how harmful their actions were, and in the commitment to do more, that their promise is made good.
Tumblr media
parenthetically, can we talk about Vlad’s mom as well? have you all noticed how her voice broke when she said, “siguraduhin mong hindi ka na itatanggi niyan, ha (just make sure he won’t deny you, okay)?” was that pain, or guilt even? i wonder if we’re ever going to see her. it would be a regret not to. for so long Vlad had thought that he was the reason his father left, and that his mother was mad at his queerness. i wouldn’t want this simple call to be the resolution that the show had for him. at any rate, we have two more episodes to await, so i am not going to strike my gavel on this judgment just yet.
but whereas Vlad found his longtime coming reconciliation with his sister, Karl had no one to turn to. his call to Vlad was a cry for help. it was heartbreaking to see him like this. Karl had always put up a fake smile against any adversity that had come his way. to him, these were trivial matters that would pass, and they did so — until now. after all he was, as we would later come to know, living a script that had been prewritten before he even came to being. that explains his nonchalant demeanor toward life, the seeming discontent behind those dead eyes, and a repeated hinting that he was always yearning for so much more. at the end of the call, Karl instinctively goes to the closet - and his proverbial closet - and sees the skeletons he had hidden inside, drop in a mess.
Tumblr media
that it was Karl’s brother who was in the photo shook me. that past was so well thought out. things made so much sense in this episode: why Karl tried to fit in, why everything seemed so fake. why he was so discomforting to watch, even! that made sense now.
and what do you do when everything has become a mess? the once seamless film that had been rolling without any glitches now sprawled on the floor, entangled in a hodgepodge well beyond fixing. when that happens, what do you do? well, you dance.
i have so many things to say about faux masculinity. it is a fact undisputed that in this society, gender roles are still very much pillars that we have yet to dismantle. our genders have been geared toward performativity, and our consolation is the external validation we receive through the acts of fitting in. in the process, we lose sight of what we really want. we blur the lines between what is and what should be, in favor of what society has demanded upon us. Karl took that role and lived by it religiously. yet, those things has gone haywire in this episode. more than his parents, it was to himself that Karl has finally admitted that the act can be dropped now: the fixed posture, those rehearsed lines, that painfully faux masculinity, on guard all the fucking time. all of those things were dropped.
that is not to say that Karl was faking all of it. there is no denying that Karl has been a masculine person most of the time. but the show portrayed before us a discarded femininity that Karl had been trying to bury deep inside him — one that all people who have been and who are still in the closet know by heart. the thing is, all of us have masculine and feminine sides, the expression of which vary at different levels in different situations. sadly, we have been preconditioned to believe that male persons must be masculine, and female persons must be feminine. Gaya sa Pelikula acknowledges this hegemony, and then throws it away all the same. true, Karl may very well be comfortable in his masculine expression, but his femininity must also be allowed to grow. one cannot be complete without embracing the entirety of who they are. many have died — been killed — for simply living who they are. society has long been a vicious environment. but people have also long fought for their fundamental right to perform these things, and through them, we know that things can change. that things are changing.
it is against this context that imprints more meaning, more gravity to when we finally, finally see Karl dance. in every sense, his dance was the show’s climax for me. it is, quite emphatically, freedom incarnate.
Tumblr media
when i say i fucking bawled at this scene, you best believe it.
quite important to note: when Karl sees Vlad, he stopped abruptly, only for Vlad to signal to him, in an OK sign, that what he was doing was perfectly fine. that Karl could be effeminate all he wants, and who the hell in this earth should care? this allowance has given Karl all the needed validation he will ever need, at least, for that one night where they could bare it all. it was only the two of them, but the house has never been more crowded, because their feelings have seemingly exploded and have been overflowing in a glorious climax for all of us to witness. in this scene, Karl has unshackled the chains with which he had been bound all that time, and it was Vlad who helped him finally break the last of those chains. in this moment, there was only pure bliss.
Tumblr media
(that the song playing here was Ride Home by ben&ben is the perfect giveaway. for non-Filipino readers who have only listened to ben&ben now, check this band out. it’s one of the best bands to have ever come out of the Philippine music industry.)
and, of course, in this waterfall of emotions, it is only perfect to time the moment of their first kiss. they have accepted each other, haven’t they? in a meaningful act (the gravity of which we will only realize in full later when Vlad tells the story of his dad), Karl rumpled Vlad’s hair, but only after Vlad had already consented to it. then, afterward, it was Vlad’s turn to ask, what are you thinking? to which Karl had this—and i know we all expected it, nevertheless—to say: i don’t want to think anymore. then they kissed.
Tumblr media
i swear to god. i only watched this for the 92432475781 time.
the denouement was so well put, too: now everything is put back into its own place. Karl’s brother. his death. his parents’ expectations. the substitution. Vlad’s father. his parents’ expectations. the horror of realizing one’s difference. the abandonment. in these stories, it becomes more and more permissible to believe that Karl and Vlad have easily found comfort in each other. to say that they are soulmates (as the creator, juan miguel severo, told on his twitter) is not an exaggeration.
and, make no mistake: Karl and Vlad did not find each other’s embraces out of pity. no. it would be unduly harsh to view them that way. rather, they found solace in each other’s embrace and warmth, but it is still they who will muster the courage to face their own demons. the only difference is, they now have each other to find some sort of release. they are not destructively dependent on each other; instead, they help each other grow into the versions of themselves that they can be proud of.
Tumblr media
finally, a couple of small things: look at the way Karl was inviting Vlad to lie in bed with him. that simple gesture harks us back to the early days of their dynamics: Vlad had expressed that it was okay to share a bed, but Karl was adamant that they do not. Karl had once dreamed of Vlad joining him there, and that scared him shitless. in contrast to that, now we have this: Karl himself inviting Vlad, and Vlad accepting for Karl’s wholehearted invitation. the moment this happened, there was a consummation of the expression of their love. if they had their doubts prior to this, those could not have been more obliterated now.
Tumblr media
needless to say, i fucking, fucking loved this. as one who has only ever written three fanfics (2gether and History 2!), all of which seemingly related to sleeping (what the fuck, do i have a sleep fetish or something), this ending to episode 6 is just the cherry on top.
their lines by the end particularly strike me. here we have Karl who wishes to create his own stories. on the other hand is Vlad who wishes that he be in charge of the endings, too. how do they do that? who knows? but the certainty that defines their pact is that they shall do it together, unbound and free to dance to the song they have chosen of their own accord. and that simple promise, made in each other’s tight embrace under artificially warm lights amid that early january weather, with no certainty at all of what tomorrow has to bring, has made all the difference.
in 34 minutes, Gaya sa Pelikula has, yet again, done more than we could have ever expected.
i just checked and this reached 2k words. i’m not even gonna attempt to proofread this anymore. anyway, this is all i have to say for now. i just simply cannot let go of the best episode i’ve seen in this show without expressing my own reaction to it.
(also: i’m thinking of writing a fanfic; that is, the morning after. just a one-shot, hopefully a cute one. as usual, an introspection of these characters, and what lies ahead. hope i actually get to write it!)
thank you so much, Gaya sa Pelikula. you are proof that things do change.

This film titled Moral was made in 1982 a Filipino film directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. The whole story is focusing on four women who were bff’s portray by 4 great actresses in the Philippines. First is Ana Marin as Maritess, next is Gina Alajar as Kathy the third one is Sandy Andlong as Sylivia and last is Lorna Tolentino as Joey.
The whole story possesses the reality of what woman dealing in their lives in this society as a woman. From the start of the story the scene tells that the four-woman was close to each other like a sisterhood and as a friend. They are both student in same University. Sylvia is the most matured in the group her characters was brave and trustworthy despite of being single mother her attributes as a woman can’t be deny the next is Maritess in the first part of the story the setting of the scene was focus on her wedding day and even she’s pregnant Maritess still continuing her college life with her friends the characteristics that I saw to this woman is a Daydreamer her poems were amazing and interpret her truly desire. The third one is Sandy the most talented and passionate women in the group her talent was singing she’s on fire on her desire to be on top and have solo album. The last one is Joey her attitude and character embodied the mean of black sheep in the group even thou her contribution is essential to fulfil the missing part of the group.
Like what I said this film revolves to all women reflecting their point of view in this kind of society. We all know the unheard struggle they are experiencing and embracing every day from stereo type system and because of this I become enlighten from some small glimpses that I overlook from them, and this is all kinds of women I encounter while watching this film:
The traditional women: This title I given was referring to the head of the home where Maritess where living and this is the mother of her husband. This kind of mother-in-law is typical mother-in-law that I know here at the Philippines were even their sprout have own family they still have grudge of possession between a mother to their son. This line gave me the reason to emphasize this insight.  “Kagaya nang sabi ng nanay, ano ang silbi ng babae kung hindi to manganganak, ang babae pinanganak para manganak. Ang sabi pa ng nanay ko ang babaeng baog daw parang balong walang tubig, salok ng salok ang lalaki wala paring mangyayari” The whole mean of this qoute is the reason why women exist in this world is just to produce other lives and if she can’t do this her existent is useless. Yes, this is harsh word that you may receive from older human and this kind of mindset still exist and pass from different generation. From the first word this mother-in-law telling the story that her mother told to her before, so it means. This kind of mindset was occurred before when some women accept the stereo fact that they are just child bearer. If we reflect this in 2021 I can say that this kind of mindset is off to our new society and the minimal person who follow this close minded.
Daydreamer yet oppress: This woman I telling is Maritess, Maritess was a fond of poetry and this kind of talent reflects her characteristics as an innocent and optimistic woman. She wrote poems base on what she feels and interpret it proudly. However, despite of being candidate from lot of opportunities she was lock up as a wife to her husband. Maritess was graduate on bachelor degree but not like others student who pursue a career her life revolves on mother duties. “Bakit hindi ba yung lalaki yung nanganganak? Bakit tayo yung nahihirapan nang ganito? Every day I feel used I feel abused. Buong araw ako nag ttrabaho sa bahay, buong araw din ako ginagamit ng baby ko, pag dating ng gabi ang asawa ko naman yung aasikasuhin ko. Siya naman yung gagamit sakin...... Parang wala na kong Personalidad ngayon parang nalang akong Makina” Maritess say this quote after she realize that she doesn’t want to stay as a mother, wife and son-in-law forever. There’s a lot Maritess right now a woman who stop being herself because of responsibilities that turns into burden they think that bearing a sibling can flip your life into constant duties and everything revolving for your family. Good thing at the end of the story Maritess didn’t stay as a prisoner but she lifts her identity as women far from what society Identify her.
Passionate heart yet opportunist: If you ask me who’s the most focus and consistent in the group that was Kathy because of her talent she become passionate and straight forward through life maybe she’s not the bravest but her attitude to find ways makes her eyes blind from fears and distraction. Her turning point in this story is when she realizes after everything, she did is meaningless because the process she pursue are not meant into her desire success
“Sagutin moko, satingin moba magiging magaling akong singer?.......... Siguro medyo late na,pero narealize ko. I don't want to sing anymore if I can't be very good” she asks this to her friend sylvia and after that she decide to left her build name at singing career and after that she decide to herself to train hard as a singer. Kathy is a kind of women who passionate and self-driven she doesn’t let others makes her life into material but she’s the one who did that to other.
Matured women yet masochist: Sylvia is the most brave and matured women in the group there’s no such things in this world that makes she back off. sylvia is the most brave and matured women in the group there’s no such things in this world that makes she back off. She teaching at catholic school for all women student despite of having old tradition implemented to that school her character and identity remain. She also a single mother and base on how she raising her son she is a modern mother, parenting while studying is one of kind she did however there’s one only conflict in her life and that’s the issue between her ex-husband,
“Mahal mo ako, mahal ko yung asawa ko yung asawa ko mahal si celso, si celso pinamimigay yung sarili sa ibang lalaki.  Pede na tayong mag tayo ng TEAM!
At first when sylvia knows that the other partner of her husband was also a man she cried a lot and ask herself what she done and why she’s not enough but after the first meeting between her and Celso her husband partner they become friends and pursue polyamorous relationship, a kind of relationship who ware open for more than two people while other man in love to Sylvia, Sylvia was in love to her husband and her husband was in love to his partner but celso also entertain others.  A s you see this is not a typical kind of relationship but Sylvia overcome this for the sake of love. Do you think she’s wrong is this immoral? For me it’s not, because she did things what other people only think, she sacrifices far greater behind others who thinks they are in love.
Sa dami ng nakita ko pede nako mag patayo ng DEPARTMENT STORE”This last character was the most awful story for me. Joey was a drug and sex addict in her group of friends she’s the living black sheep despite of being little sister. Even though she identity man like just a material that destine to use Joey once become in love into men and he was activist in their school his character was a brave man and not afraid in responsibility however this man has relationship with other women that’s the reason even Joey tempts him he resists and reject her. Because of being broken hearted she become more worst to the point she confines into hospital and doctor said that she can bear a life into her womb. Despite of being dark everything has a reason Joey didn’t do that just because she wants it.  Her life was become miserable since she was a child when her parent split apart that’s the reason why Joey really hates men. Based on what Psychiatrist said to her that she was stop growing since when her parents move away to each other and that’s the reason why she did those things. Joey is a kind of women who experience unfortunate events that makes her life accept and embrace everything just to live.
The whole story tells a lot on what we overlook in society that each woman in this world was also a main character in their own stories. They work and receive unexpected experience more than on what we think of they are just not a piece of material or a bridge to produce lives they are living god, and that’s the think that we must accept in this kind of generation.

Unusual Halloween Movies
Tired of Jason, Freddy, and Michael? Want something new this year? Boy, do I have some treats lined up for you! I’ve used JustWatch to list the streaming options (though these are US streaming options; I maaaaay be up for some streaming fun on Halloween...). I’ll tell you right now, this list can almost perfectly be broken into three categories: Horror-Comedy, Sci-Fi Horror, or International Horror.
American Mary -  A medical student drowning under tuition debt finds a lucrative practice when she enters the world of body modification. ngl, I remember liking this movie but it’s been a bit since I saw it, so for the CONTENT WARNINGS I’m going to straight up rip the MPAA here: Rated R for strong aberrant violent content including disturbing images, torture, a rape, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and brief drug use
Ava’s Possessions - Ever wonder what life is like once all your demons have been exorcised - literally? Now that Ava is free of the demon that once possessed her, she’s out of a job, down a few friends, and facing charges for the acts of violence her demon did. The only way to get out of trouble is to go to the demon-equivalent of AA. CONTENT WARNINGS: mostly blood and bad language; some mild sexual content
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon - A journalism grad student interviews a young man in training to be the next slasher killer, ala Jason/Freddy/Michael. An absolute treat of a movie for anyone who loves slasher films; it’s about 3/4 mockumentary, 1/4 actual horror film when she realizes that, no, really, he’s going to go kill all those co-eds. CONTENT WARNINGS: Blood, gore, naked boobs (”Ugh. Is that REALLY necessary?” “Now, Taylor, who’s telling this story?”), sex, occasional panty shots (because, again, slasher films).
Bubba Ho-Tep - OH MAN another one I had to go back and add in ‘cause REALLY NOW. Elvis is in a nursing home (at least, he says he’s the real Elvis) and he and JFK (who is played by Ossie Davis - who you will note is NOT white) have to fight off a resurrected mummy who sucks the souls of the living out of their assholes. Bruce Campbell stars. HOW IS THAT NOT AWESOME ENOUGH FOR YOU?! CONTENT WARNING: Um... look, I think you kinda already know what sort of content to expect given what I just told you about the story.
Bulbbul (Netflix Original) -  (Hindi Language) During the 19th century Bengali Presidency, something - or someone? - is haunting the woods around a lord’s estate, killing men in gruesome ways. The lord has left his estate in charge of his young wife, while his younger brother, who’d been away studying in London, returns to hunt down whatever is causing these mysterious deaths. CONTENT WARNINGS: child bride, blood, and what Netflix calls “sexual violence”, meaning a rape scene so graphic (despite not showing any nudity or genitalia) that it is GUARANTEED to make you uncomfortable. The movie was written and directed by a woman, so there is nothing intended to be “sexy” about this at all. If you can make it through that scene, though, there is a definite payoff for it. (Or should I say “payback”?)
Eli (Netflix Original) - A young, incredibly sick boy with a fragile immune system is brought by his parents to a clinic for an experimental treatment that may be their last hope. But all is not as it seems within the walls of this place... perhaps literally. CONTENT WARNINGS: mostly just language, a few mild jump scares. People get set on fire at one point. No biggie.
Errementari: the Blacksmith and the Devil (Netflix Original) - (Basque Language) Based on a Basque folk tale. Eight years after the First Carlist War, a government official comes to a small, impoverished Basque town asking after the blacksmith. Everyone tries to warn him away; the blacksmith is an evil, evil man. But he is on the trail of some Carlist gold that might be in the smithy, and the prospect of the gold wins him some helpers. And while everyone is distracted by that, a young orphan girl manages to get onto the blacksmith’s property. And what she finds there, no one could have expected... CONTENT WARNINGS: I took a screenshot of Netflix’s list of warnings just because it amuses me:
Tumblr media
[sings “One of these things is not like the others...”]
Europa Report - Look, I really can’t recommend this enough for fans of found-footage features and people who can stand slower-paced, constantly-building terror. An international mission is sent to investigate Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter. (Those of you who are fans of real-world space exploration know that Europa is considered a prime target for extraterrestrial life within our solar system.) Contact was lost with the mission for a long time, until the data streams came flooding into Earth all at once. And what they showed... CONTENT WARNINGS: Like I said: slower pace than most horror/thriller movies. It builds slow and steady. There’s really not much in the way of blood and gore, though; an excellent example of terror without resorting to buckets of red corn syrup.
Event Horizon - Hellraiser in Space? Hellraiser in Space. Except the Lamentation Configuration is a fucking SPACE SHIP. Also, props for genre-savvy cast. CONTENT WARNINGS: EYE SCREAM. Blood, gore, and, no really, THE EYE THING. Did I mention the gore and the blood? Oh, and language. And blink-and-you-miss it nudity & sex.
Tumblr media
Grabbers - Strange creatures are attacking a small Irish coastal town and the only way to protect yourself is... to be drunk? CONTENT WARNINGS: I mean, it’s Irish and everyone’s drunk, so bad language (by American standards) is a given. That’s... really about it, unless you have a tentacle phobia.
Green Room -  An up-and-coming punk band show up to play a gig and realize too late that they’re playing at a Neo-Nazi club. And when they happen to see something they... really shouldn’t have, it becomes an all-out fight for survival. Same director as Murder Party, though this movie was made later with a much better budget. CONTENT WARNINGS: Violence, blood, gore, and yes, some dogs die because they were trained to be vicious attack dogs by Neo-Nazis. :( Also, the most important content warning of all? PATRICK STEWART PLAYS A NEO-NAZI. (You think I’m joking, but for someone who grew up with him as Jean-Luc Picard, it is downright unsettling to see, okay?)
Life - Think Alien meets Europa Report (above). The six-member crew of the International Space Station are given a sample from Mars that might contain actual extraterrestrial life.  CONTENT WARNINGS: Blood. No, let me say that again: BLOOD. Sounds of bones breaking. Alien creature entering someone’s mouth and killing them from the inside (probably through a combination of choking them/asphyxiating them on their own blood/devouring their blood? It’s not clear, it’s just UNSETTLING).
Murder Party - This is what happens when snobby art school brats try to kill someone. (Read: it doesn’t go well.) Fuckin’ bop of a Halloween song over the end credits, too. Also, at least two characters are canonically bisexual. Same director as Green Room, though this movie was made first (with a much lower budget). CONTENT WARNINGS: bad language, blood, gore, nudity, mild sexual content (the nudity is supposed to be “artistic”). The dog probably DOES die, given the circumstances, but it doesn’t happen on screen, at least? And the dog gets some pretty decent comeuppance first... Also, 1000000% accurate cat representation.
The Perfection (Netflix Original) - A former cello virtuoso (virtuosa?) gets in touch with her former teacher and meets his new star pupil. An instant connection is formed between the two women... or is it? (Yes, there are lesbians!) CONTENT WARNINGS: oh chaos, where do I start? Bugs under the skin, hacking off body parts, blood, gore, mild sexual content, sexual abuse, and the movie itself is complete and utter MINDFUCKERY. Did you like “Tales from the Crypt” as a kid? You’ll probably dig this.
Ravenous - With apologies to all Native Americans, but at least they did get actual Native American actors for those parts (George is played by a Pueblo actor; his sister Martha is played by an actress of Menominee and Stockbridge-Munsee descent). A soldier who won a questionable victory during the Mexican-American war is given a hero’s status and then an exile to a remote fort in the Sierra Nevadas. Not long after he arrives, a would-be settler arrives with a harrowing tale, calling for help for what few survivors there are of his wagon train. The two friendly Native Americans at the fort issue warnings that go unheeded, of course. CONTENT WARNINGS: Blood, gore, cannibalism, PTSD.
Slither - James Gunn’s 2006 Feature Movie Directorial Debut! He wrote it, too. An homage to B-movie gore flicks like you’d see at the drive-in. I am just copying and pasting the IMDB summary ‘cause I love this movie too much to be concise about it: A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters. (Oh, but don’t forget the nasty, slithery blood worm things!) CONTENT WARNINGS: Nasty, slithery blood worm things. GORE, BLOOD, GORE, GORE. A very uncomfortable sex scene. Michael Rooker.
They’re Watching - An American TV crew filming what is essentially “House Hunters: Eastern Europe” stumble into superstitions, folklore, and... TERROR!! MWAHAHAHAHA. No, seriously, I LOVE how it’s basically “What if some HGTV crew wound up waaaaaaaay in over their heads, in a horrible and bloody way?” CONTENT WARNINGS: Blood, gore, and NO WI-FI.
