Any ideas for AVOS yet? I don't remember much of it, I just remembered feeling like both Violetshine and Twigbranch were wasted potential

AVoS is definitely one of the lesser 'solidified' arcs for the rewrite in my head. Way more fragments than commitments.

I'm actually cleaning up my masterpost rn so I have these links on hand-- I'll summarize them though so you don't HAVE to read All This, but if you want to go on a meander through my thoughts, here they are

On Twigbranch and Violetshine

How will I handle the breakup of ShadowClan? (^^^ If you're going to read any, read this one because it's the most sensitive part of AVoS, and THE big thing I want to fix. I go into why I think it's so important here so it's really really worth the context)

My givens; shifting the POV

Why Alderheart is getting a reduced role

The inconsistent morality of the apprentices, radicalization, how I want to fix it; on Berryheart and Sleekwhisker

Breezepelt’s plan to drown Darktail; subverting the redemption-by-death trope

In Summary;

-The POV is getting changed. Alderheart is not a main POV-- AVoS is mostly told through Needletail, Violetshine, and Breezepelt. (considered heathertail but leaning against it now)

-This is an arc about WindClan and ShadowClan; Alderheart and Sparkpelt are big enough to hold side content on their own, such as a novella or SE

-Breezepelt is getting a WHOLE redemption arc in AVoS.

-Added Harespring and Breezepelt as a one-sided rivalry

-Breezepelt's kittens are either not being born yet, or shuffled. Heathertail may possibly invoke the Queen's Rights and have them with an unknown father.

-The Kin is the central conflict of the entire arc; I specifically made BloodClan neutral and reworked other major cultures in the entire series knowing that I would have to keep The Kin utterly malicious. One of the few completely irredeemable foreign groups in the whole series.

-So, obviously, I'm being very careful about them. This is an area where I need to make it clear that Darktail's destruction IS bad actors, not a systemic issue. This is extremely important to later arcs, because there IS canonical xenophobic backlash to The Kin and it is unavoidable.

-So... you can see how I'm walking a fine line there. So I'm being extremely careful, conscious, and open-minded on how I approach it.

-The Kin exploits the good intentions of the ShadowClan apprentices, and lures in dejected codebreakers and ex-Dark Forest trainees into its ranks.

-SkyClan is returning to the Lake to help in the final confrontation.

-The Law of the Lake, the one cited to always preserve the other Clans, is being added at the end of this arc in respect to SkyClan, and possibly in memorial of ShadowClan, depending on when Tigerheart's Shadow's events fall in.

-Owlclaw is now the brother of Harespring and Kestrelflight! This is an added subplot I decided on with a couple of the other Regular Contributers (i want a name for you all, hmu with suggestions. The Skeleton Crew?) and I'm really fond of it, so Owlclaw is going to have something to bond with Violetshine over.

-Considering making Owlclaw either Violetshine's surrogate father or mentor. Pinenose is a fine surrogate and Violetshine will probably stay close with Puddleshine and Slatefur as childhood friends-- but there's potential with Owlclaw now.

And now for the last of Pinenose's kits (at least until I eventually give Puddleshine an updated sheet), and the father of Cinnamontail's new kits, we've got Slatefur!

You can find the reverse side of his design here.

For his physical description, Slatefur is described as sleek. I tried to balance making him a nice, sleek cat (or at least he was before he got all scarred up) and also making him a stockier boy like his dad (though not as much as his dad). He lived through a lot with the kin, then as a rogue, so I decided to make him a bit of a scarred-up mess.

For his pattern, Slatefur is described as a gray tom. I based his pelt color on slate stone. I was originally going to make him a pointed cat like his dad, but I already have so many pointed cats in ShadowClan, and I didn't like how it looked on him, so I went with a different pattern instead. He has no canon eye color, so I went iwth a nice pale green.

Overall, I'm rather pleased with how he turned out. ^^

dappledcloud has four kits, juniperkit (blue tortoiseshell and white she-cat with pale copper eyes), pinekit (dappled blue tom with white paws and green eyes), silverkit (silver she-cat), and yellowkit (fawn she-cat).
