Another
She did not know what she did to me. She was my light. She was my friend. She was with another.
He traveled with us, and love wasn't something that belonged in war and such. But he chose to come with us to help. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I shouldn’t have accepted him so easily. We were fine before him. We had synergy that kept us protected. She wasn’t mine, but I could feel that she felt something too.
Months on the road and doing what we could in the crisis kept us alone and away from society. She tried to keep the feelings mutual. But I could tell what he was doing. I could see that he looked at her. I could see how he would touch her, patting her shoulder and even giving her hugs to calm her during the storms. Anything he could to get close to her.
I tried my best to keep her focused. I promised myself I would wait until it was safe to confess my love for her. She didn’t need distractions. She was the Dragonborn with the world on her shoulders. I wasn’t about to add to her worries. But he overstepped his welcome with me.
He took her aside and kissed her. He held her in his arms, and she didn’t fight it. She let him do it. I so badly wanted to rush for her. To stand between her and this heathen that decided he could do what he wanted. Her laugh is what stopped me. Her smile and the adoration in her eyes kept me from rushing to her.
They did try to keep it a secret, but eventually they got sloppy. Even if I didn’t know from the start, it wasn’t difficult to figure out. I was caught in a wave of despair, confusion and heartbreak. I was caught between being her supportive friend and a furious interest. But I knew that I couldn’t live without her in my life.
Somehow I would have to make it through their moments of love. Holding hands along the roads. Kissing each other before a mission. Sleeping in each other’s arms. My chest burned each time I saw them. I had no solace. Only if I chose to abandon my nightly watch to leave them helpless, and I couldn’t do that. Not to her.
It burned to see her with another. It sparked a pattern wanting to leave and deciding to stay with the grind. She needed me. Even if she had another.

So I dropped some Dragon Priest masks to display them in the display case, and suddenly I heard my husband (Stenvar) and my steward (Valdimar) say something like “This armor is mine now!” and “You’ll have to fight me for it!”, so they drew weapons, but then Stenvar put his weapon away and didn’t react at all while Valdimar whaled on him all the way across the house. When it was over I walked up to my husband and he said “Here, i found this earlier, thought you might have dropped it” and gave me back one of the masks. This game is so stupid in little ways.

Tryin to make a list of Octopath 2 NPCs for a potential tournament poll… why are there so many I stg
Here is a list of every named non-traveler character (plus a few characters from Throné’s path who don’t use their real names). Characters without unique sprites are listed in orange; characters who don’t make an appearance at all are listed in red. My thinking is to include every character from the main paths with a unique sprite, plus Al and the four Crossed Paths NPCs 🤔
Ochette’s Path: Juvah, Akalā, Mahina, Cohazeh, Cateracta, Tera, Glacis, Alpione, Pom, Heig, Petrichor
Castti’s Path: Malaya, Senah, Sesque, Mao, Edmund, Griff, Rosa, Melia, Lily, Greg, Plukk, Mikk, Makk, Trousseau, Elma, Andy, Randy, Yorna, Sally, Temm
Throné’s Path: Pirro, Scaracci, Donnie, Father, Mother, Diamante, Bergomi, the Slaver, the Masked Boy, the Elderly Guard, Mira, Morozov, Marietta, the Guide, Claude
Osvald’s Path: Rita, Elena, Harvey, Davis, Emerald, Bale, Clarissa, Ethan, Stenvar
Partitio’s Path: Papp, Roque, Ned, Joe, Harry, Nikki, Giff, Will, Ori, Floyd, Thurston, Alrond, Misha, Masoud, Terry, Audley
Agnea’s Path: Pala, Garud, Cuani, Gus, Gil, La’mani, Dolcinea, Veronica, Giselle, Tanzy, Rico, Coda, Laila, Platt
Temenos’s Path: Mindt, Jörg, Crick, Vados, Cubaryi, Lucian, Kaldena, Ort, Hermes, Reiza, Roi, Shirlutto
Hikari’s Path: Jigo, Mugen, Benkei, Kazan, Ritsu, Rai Mei, Tsuki, Ageha, Borneau, Zeto, Bandelam, Azuma, Rou, Mikka, Kunzo, Jin Mei, Kura
Other: Al, Regulus, Yomi, Wooly-Ooly, Alpates, Arkar, Porta, the Arcanist Descendant, Gken, Ichchadhari, Tyran, Hinoekagura, Margello, Tiffany, Astell, Meylan, Eugis, Nero, Ruby, Georges, Yurinas, Karma, D’arqest, Aelfric, Dohter, Alephan, Sealticge, Draefendi, Aeber, Brand, Bifelgan, Vide, Galdera

Stenvar has been one of my favorite Skyrim followers since forever and yet I could not remember him being marriable. But he is! Found out last week. Literally feel like I’m having some sort of mandela effect here, but it’s fine, i’ll take it.
Anyway, I started a new playthrough. Pure mage, an altmer boy, wasn’t so sure about pairing him up with Stenvar until i used healing hands on him and he said “hey, that felt good!” the wedding is tomorrow

Everything We Know About the Governance of Solistia
While it's not something that's particularly relevant to the story of Octopath 2, we don't really get to learn much about how the different nations/territories of Solistia are actually governed. There's precious little to actually go off of in-game, but I figured I'd try to compile everything we knew, regardless. So, with that being said...
Hinoeuma
The most obvious place to start is Hinoeuma, or more specifically, Ku. Ku is considered a kingdom, ruled by a king, though I honestly feel like its overall structure is more akin to an empire (which would make more sense given that it's heavily based on Japanese culture.) We know that there are supposedly other clans and territories in the desert, but most of them were subsumed by Clan Ku during the reign of Jigo and Mugen. According to the Mercantile Manuscript, most of these territories aren't even considered part of Solistia in the first place.
The town of Sai appears to be somewhat independent, but the exact details aren't wholly clear.
Leaflands
We learn from Castti's story that Timberrain is ruled by an unnamed monarch, and I presume that this king's territory extends to the entire Leaflands. This would mean that Wellgrove and Cropdale also fall under his domain. We know that Wellgrove is ruled over by Alrond, of course, but Alrond is a noble, which likely means he serves the king of Timberrain.
Wildlands
The Wildlands are modeled after the Wild West, and seem to mostly consist of independent towns. The fact that Pap had to purchase the land where Orserush was built, however (as well as the fact Roque legally owned it in the first place), would imply that the Wildlands do fall under SOMEONE's jurisdiction. I guess they might be part of the Leaflands' kingdom, since they're the closest.
Coastlands
There are only two main towns in the Coastlands: Canalbrine and Conning Creek. I guess it's probably safe to assume that these two towns operate mostly independently, though the fact that an organized force of guards exist in Conning Creek would imply that they fall under SOMEONE'S authority. Sadly the highest-ranking person we see there is Stenvar.
I suppose it is possible that they also fall under the jurisdiction of Timberrain's royal family, since Osvald was supposedly tried at that city's courthouse. If that's true, though, that would imply the king of Timberrain controls most of the wester continent.
Toto'Haha
This one is pretty easy to figure out. It's mostly just neutral settlements run by humans or Beastlings.
Brightlands
So these lands were apparently settled by people from a dead kingdom called Delstach, though it seems like any system of monarchy has long-since been abandoned, as evidenced by the sidestory Descended from Royalty. The Nyx family evidently ruled the area at one time, but lost all power and authority for unknown reasons. Given their industrialized nature, I presume that New Delsta and Clockbank are run by mayors.
Montwise is really up in the air, as plenty of nobles seem to reside here, though we don't know of any governing body.
Crestlands
The most notable location here is probably Flameschurch, which of course is run by the Church of the Sacred Flame. To that end, I suppose that means the pontiff would technically be head of the area? Unless the town also has some sort of elder or mayor that's never mentioned, I suppose.
Merry Hills is home to a grand theater and attracts many performers, but we never get much insight as to who runs the whole affair. The biggest authority figures we see are the judges, who I doubt are in charge of running the entire town.
Winterlands
The town of Winterbloom is lead by the Glenville family, currently headed by Melia, but there are a LOT of missing pieces. Given that the role of leadership is passed down through bloodline, it sounds as though the Glenvilles are some form of nobility, if not royalty. It is possible that the town is run by a sort of chief, but it's not confirmed.
Stormhail is extremely peculiar, as control of the city seems divided between Clan Mei and the Sacred Guard. Frankly I'm still confused how Clan Mei managed to establish such a powerful position in a city on the opposite end of the world as the king they serve, but I guess it's hard to argue with the lady wielding the lightning spear.
Cape Cold appears to just be headed by a village elder.
So yeah, that's about all we know at the moment, unfortunately. Again, the details for Solistia's governance aren't REALLY important, but it would have been nice to learn more.
