When designing hospitals, it's essential to consider how natural lighting can benefit patients' health and wellbeing. According to research by Terrapin Bright Green, exposure to varying intensities of light and shadow that mimic natural conditions can have a positive impact on patients' mood, body, and mind. Natural light from windows, skylights, and light features can help promote natural circadian rhythms, which regulate sleep-wake cycles in all humans. White Architecture's design of Östra Psychiatric Hospital is an excellent example of how to incorporate natural lighting into healthcare spaces effectively. Private, semi-private, and semi-public spaces that offer access to outdoor natural spaces and biophilic interior design features help promote feelings of safety and reduce stress. Additionally, incorporating dynamic and diffuse lighting can help patients stay in rhythm and promote better sleep. In short, natural lighting is an essential element in hospital design, as it can help improve patient outcomes and create a more comfortable and healing environment. Adidas – AdiClub Member’s Lounge As @gravityistanbul , we created a social club which sits on 200m2 area for AdiClub Members on the 7th floor of Adidas Store Beyoğlu. With this design, we aimed for a transformable and flexible lounge for multiple functions. What was required is to separate the whole floor for entertainment purposes, gatherings and meetings. All furniture is designed in modular systems. When needed, all modular furniture can be brought together for larger groups of people and social activities. Different zoning functions can be achieved by curtains and glass separations if more privacy is needed. Adidas – Water Station “Refill Your Bottle” As Gravity, we were asked for a %100 sustainable production design which will be located on the base floor of the Adidas Store Beyoğlu, where all customers will pass by without exception through the store circulation. The main idea was to create clean water fountains for customers to refill their bottles, in regard of causing less plastic waste. Sustainable materials, such as moss plants and natural wood were used to cover the surroundings of the custom-made fountains. A glass wall is placed in front of the moss wall to recreate the waterfall sensation. A sneak peek into Kora Retreat, a wellness retreat located at Sikre, towards the northern end of the Shivapuri National Park. This collaborative process involves stakeholders from Nepal, Tibet, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

The research on the contoured context and the design approach of 3 different zones have been the key to making the vision/ master plan. Each zone has an identity of its own but all of them are clustered around a square. On the top, we have Summit Sq., in the middle Salt Sq. and below is the Entry point.

The scale model helped the stakeholders to imagine the Nature-embracing philosophy of SMA. A carefully crafted network of Nature Trails connects the Squares. This is totally against the “JCB approach” that we, unfortunately, see too much in the Himalayas.
