Seska in ‘state of flux’ literally acting for her life you gotta love her
#also why does Chakotay call him 'chief inspector Tuvok' wth that's so cool!!!#anyway yeah Seska's sheer commitment to the bit of CHAKOTAY....ME!?!?!? You think I did this!?!??!? is stunning <3#Seska a cardassian agent: Hey - even I was a cardassian agent your secrets wouldn't be worth it okay??? love you <3#<- venting her frustations#also the way Chakotay acts in this episode...I love you so much Chakotay but no wonder you didn't know there were TWO spies aboard your ship#Seska: -being the most suspicious woman in the world- Chakotay....I made you mushroom soup and this is how you repay me??#Chakotay: damn...you're so right. She's right.#Tuvok: She isn't right.#Chakotay: She's SO right v_v#he's NOT an idiot I'm not saying he's dumb he just wants to trust his crew~!!! Genuinely love that about him - gives second chances to#people who might not seem exactly on the up-and-up in the eyes of those with a stricter moral code like Janeway and I wish we'd seen more#of that coming in handy...like Chakotay urging her to trust people she (and Tuvok) would regularly disregard#Now CHAKOTAY would make a good spy...he just has a demeanor that makes you wanna trust him#'You're a fool captain...and you're a fool to follow her' - Seska#'We'll have to find another day to settle up with Seska' - Janeway#<- I like these quotes#I wish Seska had become a more persistent villain v_v like I wish she'd been more on-her-own gathering more and more allies#Seska and her ever-growing army of steadily more major baddies who she accumulates by doing shady deals#but every so often...she seems like she throws Voyager a LITTLE bone and you're left to wonder#<- she still dies in the end (after much longer) and everyone's sadder about it then they thought they'd be

Up until the 13th Inspector era, the ‘future’ was presented as a nigh-fixed thing.
Viewers should know that knowing a possible future gives them the opportunity to change policies and practices in the present to avoid potentially bad consequences.

Tiny Pops work montage from Part 3′s Weird Episode. Takes a lot for a Lupin III episode to stand out in the franchise as weird, but boy howdy does that one deliver.

*slams open the door and dives on top of your sheets* Hey. Hey. I know people hate season 4 of Community and I might be losing it but do you ever think about the Inspecticon episode and go just a little bit feral? Like, the ENTIRE EPISODE A PLOT revolves around Troy and Abed's relationship with multiple references to them being boyfriends. Troy's girlfriend casually refers to Abed as his boyfriend. Troy is jealous about Abed ending up with someone else who he is afraid might be better suited to Abed but no one could be, because two Inspectors wouldn't work out because you need a logical Inspector and an emotional constable and Toby can't handle that fact because he doesn't have someone to balance him out so he's too emotional and he locks Abed in that phone box like his bullies once did but "for once in my long history of getting locked inside of things, I knew someone would come get me" and Troy and Abed doing their high-five and getting their gluon photo is the most romantic thing this show ever did (well, tied with like five other Trobed moments) and it's basically canon poly and I know I'm unhinged about it but who wouldn't be-
Oh, you have work in the morning? Whoops. Anyway I also think it's hilarious that Matt Lucas plays the evil parody Doctor Who fan who is too obsessed with the Inspector when like three years later he'd become Nardole, an official companion (aka the Constable Reggie stand-in)-

I found this interview from when Shaun Evans was promoting S3 of Endeavour in 2016 and thought it was one of the more interesting ones as he gets asked some different questions. I particularly liked seeing him talk a bit about his peers and how he views his career.
Tumblr media
Shaun Evans talks Endeavour series three, Hollywood and whether he'd star in Doctor Who
As Morse returns, the star of the hit ITV drama reveals what's next for his career By David Brown - Radio Times
Falsely accused Endeavour Morse was last seen languishing in a prison cell after being framed for murder. But fans of the hit ITV drama needn't despair - Shaun Evans is back on the case for a third series beginning this evening. Here, the actor talks about life as the Oxford detective, why Morse has endured for four decades and what the future holds...
So what has brought you back to Endeavour for a third series? I didn't feel like we should have left it where we did last time. It would have been odd. As a viewer, I would have been dissatisfied to have left it there because you'd have only been telling half the story. Luckily enough, we had the opportunity to come back to do some more and I think the stories are really good - particularly the final one. It goes along at a lick. It's a bank heist but it's also a love story. And it's heartbreaking. I think it's great and it ends in a really satisfying way.
The character of Morse has now been around for 40 years - why has he endured? A good story well told will stand the test of time. And if you throw in an unusual character - someone who is in a world but not of that world - then that's intriguing.
The original series of Inspector Morse did episodes in Australia and Italy - would you like to do an overseas Endeavour? Well, they keep telling me that the character is going to Spain. But I can take myself to Malaga. I'm joking, but I'm being honest too. There is a Spanish idea, but I'd want it to be right. I don't want this job to be a jolly or something that we take for granted and phone in. There are so many variables to that kind of thing: would the locations be as good? Or the actors? Granted, it would be a laugh to go away with Roger Allam, but would it serve the show?
Does Endeavour Morse become more like you as the series goes on? I think that’s a danger, definitely. The more comfortable and confident you get with something, the easier it could be to be less diligent about creating a character. But then you’d be taking shortcuts that you might not have done three years ago. So I try not to be complacent about it. I want to be even more diligent than I was when I started. But I admit that it's a tricky one.
Having a two-hour slot for a drama seems like a privilege these days - do you worry that viewers' attention spans could be too short to cope? I don’t worry about it at all. I feel like the work we’ve done so far has been very good. Some have been better than others - as would be the case. But I feel pleased with it. Now if audiences change and they feel that the episodes are too long, boring or complicated, then we’ll just stop. That’s OK. But I've seen some crime dramas that try to tell the story in an hour and, for me, it just doesn't work. You’re tyring to set up a killer, set up a world, solve it in an interesting or dynamic way and put in some character stuff as well. It’s nigh on impossible to do in an hour. I don’t think you can do it in a satisfying way. That’s my impression as an audience member.
Fans would be up in arms if you decided to stop Endeavour! No. I don't think that'd happen. It's just work. And they'd just fill it with something else. There'll be another brilliant show.
I think you'd make an ideal Doctor Who - would you like to play that role one day? I’ve never seen it! I think Matt Smith is a brilliant actor. And David Tennant also. But it just wasn’t my thing growing up and I feel like I’ve missed it now. I was in Moscow a few months ago and someone asked me about Doctor Who. And she thought I'd make a good Master. So if you’re offering me a part, then I’ll play the Master.
What about playing James Bond? Well, everyone wants to play James Bond, right? He always gets the girl at the end. And in the middle. And at the beginning, come to think of it. But I think that Daniel Craig would be a tough act to follow. He brings something really interesting to it.
Do you ever look at contemporaries like Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne and think, 'I'd like top billing in a Hollywood movie'? I know both those lads and I like them. But I never really think of my career like that. Of course, you want people to see your work, but I'm not interested in being the next so-and-so. It doesn't attract me. Mainly because it's short lived. It's better to keep working and do interesting stuff.
So being a big Hollywood star isn't all it's cracked up to be? I don't know. I suppose if you had enough clout to guarantee finance for a story you wanted to tell, then that would be a good thing. From a business point of view. But I don't spend my time being envious. There are so many variables in all that bollocks! When you desire fame or fortune - which are ephemeral things - you're building your house on sand, aren't you?
Do you have a dream project that you'd like to do? I'd love to do something about poets or photographers who have done interesting things and left an impression on their portion of the world. Someone like the American photographer Walker Evans. Or the French poet Arthur Rimbaud.
So what's next for you? I'm purposefully having some time off. I've been busy and I'd like a bit of time to read some books and just study. I want to educate myself on writers, photography, filmmaking and poetry. I'm very lucky that I've now got enough money to have a bit of time to myself and study. I'm very lucky to be in that position.

oh hey i’m here to remind y’all that 87 actually wrote its female characters pretty well compared to the other shows uwu
april might be known as the damsel in distress, but she has a life outside of the turtles. she is constantly busy with her own goals, deals with two sexist coworkers, supports her girl best friend despite not always agreeing with her choices, and willingly puts herself in danger to get a story when no one else will. even in the red sky seasons when she gets fired, she works her butt off to find evidence to clear the turtles’ name and to get a new job. she’s a powerhouse.
irma is one of the only characters with a noticeable character development, going from an insecure boy-crazy young lady who worries about diets and struggles with clumsiness, and slowly becomes a more independent young woman, following april’s example in taking risks to get results. and even before then, she always snarked back at vernon, her sexist coworker, with no hesitation. her last episode she literally handles a blaster so,,,, queen.
april’s aunt, agatha, is canonically one of the most op characters in the show. she doesn’t usually fight but she has several skills to get the job done without it. but she can still fight; she’s a skilled fencer. she’s a master inspector and always solves the mysteries she comes across. the turtles look up to her and she always steals the show in every episode she’s in.
shredder’s mom is more competent than him and kicks someone’s butt in her first scene. she’s a senior.
tempestra and shreeka are both really fun villainesses who stay memorable despite being in limited episodes.
kala is equal with her two guy friends, zak and dask, and despite being anti war, is brave enough to stand up to krang.
buffy, despite being a brat, was able to escape being kidnapped by the shredder almost entirely by herself and managed to outsmart him several times. she also takes care of her grandfather’s company herself.
mona lisa only has one episode, but it’s entirely her story. she is the one who kicks off the plot, the one who solves the problem, and the one with a backstory and goal. raphael’s just along for the ride.
lotus blossom remains undefeated in combat, able to defeat shredder, bebop, and rocksteady. all at once. she’s treated as leonardo’s equal in combat and earns his respect immediately, despite her cheating to win. in her second episode, we learn her insecurities and some of her background. she has depth and emotions and we see her learn about herself and move forward in her life, all while having good chemistry with leonardo.
obviously there are still flaws in the treatment of women in 87, but considering how women are treated in a majority of tmnt content, 87 did pretty well in general.

Doctor Who Disability Rep
Wanted to do a quick shoutout to Shirley, the UNIT woman from the first episode of the 60th anniversary special. Excellent disability representation for multiple reasons:
Introduced like any other UNIT character, investigating a crashed spaceship; no one acknowledges the wheelchair until her third or fourth appearance in the episode.
Doing field work rather than being stuck at base (like a lot of characters in wheelchairs)
In a top position at UNIT, sharing the same role the Doctor once held in the organization
She crosses her legs in the chair without physically lifting them, showing that she doesn’t have complete lower leg paralysis (might have seen this wrong, but I believe her arms stayed still). Most characters in wheelchairs are fully paralyzed in the legs, but in reality, many folks in wheelchairs can move their legs about or even walk for some time. A minor detail that adds more to her representation.
Because she is in a wheelchair, she can’t join the other UNIT soldiers up the stairs to see the spaceship (which her companion is awkward about). HOWEVER, her disability actually saves her life as everyone who goes up the stairs is brainwashed. In this case, having a disability was an advantage, not a hindrance
She likely avoided further brainwashing from the other soldiers because the Meep didn’t see her as useful like the others due to her disability, allowing her to stay in the shadows and plan. Once again, the disability is an advantage.
Saves the Doctor and Noble/Temple family single-handedly by shooting a dart out of her wheelchair. She is essentially Inspector Gadget
She can also shoot rockets out of her wheelchair. I think everyone who uses a wheelchair wants one that shoots rockets.
In conclusion, we love Shirley. Wheel on, queen.

I am rotating the ending of The Reigate Squires in my mind and the more I dwell on it, the more Inspector Forrester’s “what why would I arrest these people strangling you?” didn’t come out of nowhere.
It starts here, right at the beginning of the case:
“Between ourselves, I think Mr Holmes had not quite got over his illness yet. He's been behaving very queerly, and he is very much excited."
"I don't think you need alarm yourself," said I. "I have usually found that there was method in his madness."
"Some folks might say there was madness in his method," muttered the Inspector.
Word of Holmes’ illness has gotten around, and possibly even of his depressive episode. People with mental health issues were (and are to an extent) seen as ‘weak-minded’—even having ‘nerves’ is a womanly humiliating thing. They wouldn’t see Holmes’ struggle with depression alongside his brilliance, but as undermining it, and Forrester gives voice to that conflict. Right from the start, knowing that Holmes has been struggling with mental illness causes him to look askance on his reliability here.
Then we have Silly Time with the table and oranges. Once again Forrester questions Holmes’ sanity, and that’s without him seeing Holmes knock over the table:
"Wait here an instant," said young Alec Cunningham. "The fellow is off his head, in my opinion. Come with me, father, and see where he has got to!"
"'Pon my word, I am inclined to agree with Master Alec," said the official. "It may be the effect of this illness, but it seems to me that--"
They’re interrupted by Holmes’ screams for help, and the Inspector SEES both men strangling him, but what he’s perceiving is a mentally unstable man being subdued with the common amount of violence. The Cunninghams were reckless, but it’s possible they figured if Holmes passed out, they could make up an excuse about how erratic he was acting, maybe say he had first attacked them.
The class privilege of the Cunninghams is a huge part of it, of course, but we usually don’t see ‘shrug off witnessing murder attempt on Sherlock Holmes’ level of boneheadedness in other cases. Inspector Forrester is introduced as refreshingly competent at the beginning, but all these little comments along the way show how much he allows that socially ingrained ableism to color his judgment.

in trobed angst it's always Troy that dies, why not Abed? there are so many unopened doors.
Abed dies, and Troy isn't funny anymore. Abed dies and Troy gets deja vu when he whispers "I love you" to his casket. Abed dies and Troy can't watch TV anymore because Abed's voice is in his head giving little comments that have been ingrained in his brain from hearing them so many times. Troy can't talk to Annie because she's a reminder of who he was before Abed, and now that Abed's gone he might fall back into that, and he doesn't want to risk it. something cool happens and Troy reaches out his hand to empty air next to him, he stares at it and the bitter reality sets in. he can't fathom spending Pierce's money because it reminds him that he chose to leave Abed, he chose to spend less time with him when their time was already cut short by fate. yeah, it's selfish, but what he wouldn't give to watch an episode of Inspector Spacetime without feeling like there's a layer of oil under his skin. the guilt. the pain. the fear. all too much for someone like Troy to handle.
i'm just saying y'all let's get fuckin crazy up in here

The Sign Ep 10 Stray Thoughts
Last week, Phaya was unconscious for most of the episode after drowning. Tharn and everyone else was a mess about it, and decided that the only way to get answers was via the misapplication of policing in someone's club. Chalothorn tried to choke Phaya out with his mind again, but failed. Phaya woke up, and escaped the hospital to immediately get some dick.
I hate when they do flashbacks to things we didn't see to explain something happening in a current scene.
Phaya remembering that he has a family was so funny. Love the reactions from everyone in the door.
Phaya making promises we know he will specifically break. At least our number one shipper Yai is thriving.
Yai is in the background of this beautiful acceptance scene trying not to shout "WITNESSED!"
Oh right. The Inspector's brother may be tied up with that minister. Let's do some cop stuff.
Tharn, how are you just gonna walk up on the Inspector? Why would he tell you anything?
Curious what Tharn will do with getting confirmation of what he already suspected.
Watch out for those ants!!
If y'all don't want Tharn to know about Chalothorn, why are y'all discussing him near Tharn?
I love watching the grandmas bond over their unruly grandsons.
Damn, this is really fucked up.
Bestie and I stopped for a five minute breakdown over this hideous scarf. (Edit: This comment was culturally insensitive. A commenter provided context in a reblog)
Man, this is actually kind of a weird episode. We got a lot of pieces moving, but it's so late in the show that I'm still struggling to place most of it. Tharn and Phaya being in Nongkai because they thought it might be safe and now suddenly it isn't is kinda interesting, but I'm just so disinterested in the dirty cop politics and the whole thing with Kao and the artwork.

My Podcast Masterlist
I have a long commute, giving me two hours a day to listen to podcasts. Here is my documentation of all the audio dramas I’ve consumed plus a little blurb. I just wanted to organize them in a list and also (selfishly) get recommendations if anyone would be so kind. Or maybe you’ll see something that’ll interest you. Enjoy!
Podcasts I’m Caught Up With
The Penumbra Podcast: I’ve made an animatic for this one. I’m down bad. This is the one that sucked me into this podcast world.
Malevolent: Arthur dating sim when??? Everyone wants him. Also it took me way too long to find out it was an actual play podcast.
Red Valley: Gordon fan all the way. Normally I do like the Sad Boy but Gordon is that type of dorky that makes me want to protect him.
Caravan: Interesting world and love a main character that makes questionable decisions. Everything is going to be fine :)
WOE.BEGONE: I’m obsessed. It happened slowly but now I think about it every day… And the music is so good! Mike Walters is cringefail, bbygurl, easy to manipulate, and saws his left arm off at the shoulder.
The Cellar Letters: Legit gets me spooked at times. Steve and Nate are good vibes. I’m sure glad nothing ever happens to them.
Harbor: Love that Sam being a malewife ruined his life.
Rifted: Aurora, another Sad Boy to add to my collection. Daniel should give him a kiss to make him feel better.
Heroics: Pls come back some day… I need more Josh. He’s in his slay era.
Second Fiddles: Max is owning being a bbygurl. Also there are a lot of poop jokes which is weird but I’ll look past it.
Hand in Glove: idk anything about baseball but these baseball players are smoochinggg.
Find Us Alive: Lancaster in booty jorts. It's canon. Don't look it up. I'm right. ALSO HE NEEDS TO TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM PLS.
The Kingmaker Histories: The kiss is still the subject of much historical debate. Eisen <3
The Viridian Wild: It hasn’t been updated since 2021 but I still have hope.
Dos: After You: Ghosting GONE WRONG
Brimstone Valley Mall: SEASON TWO IS COMING. 90’s mall setting is really fun and I’m here for the thing Asmoraius and Trent have going on.
Levian: It starts off with a bang! Well not quite since his sister walks in oops. Excited to see where this pirate tale takes us.
Midnight Burger: Each episode is a delight and as someone who is bad at science, I appreciate Gloria and Caspar. Caspar pls stay forever and also Brodie <3
Return Home: I’m really listening to it for Buddy and DW.
Raythe Reign: Sometimes you need a yaoi.
The White Vault: At this point, I know what I’m getting into and yet still decide to get attached to these characters
The Amelia Project: Please don’t hurt the Interviewer! He’s too goofy for all this drama. I’m scared!
Fawx & Stallion: James Stallion being canonically hot in any situation is such a win
Victoriocity: Inspector Fleet has had a long week and needs some days off
Yokai Detective Agency: I’m always a sucker for detective stories and I’m looking forward to where this one is going
Desert Skies: Charming characters and love that the plot has a nice pace, not dragging things out
The Grotto: the music is so good but also please help. The emotional turmoil is torrential.
Camlann: Yo…. Dai, for real???
Podcasts I’ve Completed
Dash: This might not be completed? This is actually the first audio drama I finished. Classic noir but supernatural and boys are smooching!
The Two Princes: This was wholesome and had good vibes. I prefer the first season but it was still a fun time.
The Magnus Archives: Arrived late to the party on this one, but I love all the fanart. Awakened my interest in pathetic men.
EOS 10: I also am not 100% sure this is done but I enjoyed the shenanigans!
Wolf 359: Eiffel, my beloved. I liked the silly and dramatic parts of this story. It hurt my soul but it was worth it :)
Time:Bombs: noahdeaart's fanart made me think this was going in a different direction... Still a fun one!
Valence: Love this one WAAAAHHH! Pls listen. I love Nico. Sad Boy but hides it under their chaos energy.
The Bright Sessions: I would 1005% listen to a spin-off just about Mark. This Sad Boy keeps collecting trauma and I need to see him and Oliver maybe go on adventures or something. ANYTHING.
Roommates: I, too, had a pandemic college experience. It's kinda bizarre that there's already a story about that and I love it!
Look Up: Wholesome. Briggon Snow kept me fed.
Moonface: Appreciate having an audio drama from an Asian American perspective. Didn’t realize how much I needed that.
Murray Mysteries: Must protect Jonathan.
Kaleidotrope: More wholesome content. I got more into it by the second half. The hosts have a fun dynamic!
Re: Dracula: Still thinking about Inside You.
Wooden Overcoats: Rudyard is my fav. Chapman deserves the hate.
The Vanishing Act: this Rudyard wasn’t my fav. I was happy to listen to him suffer but also happy when he fell in love. A win for Griffson!
Greater Boston: Michael Tate <3
Ars Paradoxica: Nikhil Sharma <3
Podcasts I’m Catching Up On
Life with Althaar: I knew that plant lady was sus
The Night Post: Ashley……
Love and Luck: I’m on ep 87 now some magical things are going down
Going Lowbrow: I wasn’t expecting a musical but I’m not complaining.
SAYER: There are no bees on Typhon :)
WTNV: I got behind during high school and now I’m too scared to get caught up… one day. It's been so long at this point I think I'd need to start over.
BRASS: I fell behind on episodes :(
Not Quite Dead: If there are vampires, I'm automatically interested. Only a few eps in.
Hi Nay: I’m listening to Murphy respectfully.
Podcasts I’ve Dropped
Moonbase Theta Out
Dreamboy
Archive 81
The Sheridan Tapes
Jar of Rebuke
I’ll keep this updated every so often. Most of these I’ve found either from scouring rec lists or seeing nice fanart.
Please let me know of any recommendations you may have! Thanks for reading if you got this far. Mad respect.
