My most recent blog post…
Bit of Background…
I have had the privilege to grow up in an environment where I have met and seen theater artists/writers with stable careers. My unique experience allows me to see the many different paths people in theater can take — beyond high school teaching or broadway.
If you want to act and do theater, then this article will probably be for you. Also, if you already have a theater degree and are wondering where to go from here… this might be at least give you a few search terms or thoughts to get you started.
(BTW: If you want to be famous… you might want to revaluate your reasons for doing theater. People do theater because it’s a passion and a handful get lucky. YouTubers have a similar skill set and would be much more likely to help you in that regard.)

Florence was a guest on Zach Braff’s podcast to discuss her career and their new film A Good Person, which is out today!
I especially loved this bit at the end about her thoughts on possibly Directing films one day:
“I’d love to be a Director. I think I need to learn a bit more. I need to soak it up. It’s such a tricky position to have, and to lead, and to be a leader on a film set. You really have to be-You have to know your shit. And if you don’t a lot of people can get, you know, twisted up by that. And I think, for me, I don’t want to go in and not know and then affect an actor badly…It’s something that you really should go in knowing that you can do it. So I think I’m just going to do a bit more learning.”

Sophie Turner at the Playbox Theater (Warwick) on July 2nd for a special event "An evening with Sophie Turner".
She talked about her career, in a special one-afternoon event, in aid of Playbox’s ‘Raise The Roof Campaign’, to support the restoration of The Dream Factory’s roof.
Sophie was in conversation with Elle magazine’s Lena de Casparis and this formed the centrepiece of a dynamic evening of discussion.

idk if this is strange to say but i wish there were more opportunities for like casual Acting bc that's like. a form of Play to me (pun not intended wee hee). Idk what happened to me that my shame and embarrassment gland got too huge but i Was in school plays as a kid and i enjoyed it. Nothing sounds more fun than having a contained space where u can be dramatic and say things in specific voices without it being Weird.
Dont say "get into ttrpgs" because its not the same i suck at improv and I'd be too embarrassed to really act bc i only have like 1 person in the whole world i wldnt be embarrassed to Act like that around. Too close. Need to fully move around a space.
i want to just be able to memorize lines/a script and deliver them in an appropriate setting without not making it bc i wasnt good enough for the role and cant sing well enough ykwim (as could be the case for trying to get into local theater). Does this make sense in any way❓❓ I was born to be a cartoon character everyone loves my weird funny exaggerated faces i need to be on a stage but i also need the escapism of pretending to be someone else and quite literally performing Feelings. Do u see my vision. I never outgrew imagining myself in music videos and its hindering my life. Does anyone wanna play dolls with me but we're the dolls.

i do get sort of scared for my future sometimes not bc i don’t know what i want to do but bc i literally cannot imagine feeling fulfilled or okay doing anything except for theater and yet it is so nebulous and hard to make a living off of so it’s really more of like. what if i fail and no matter what else i do it’s not enough
