I think the reason there is no real story in Total Warhammer is cause its a tie-in to a larger product. Like, oh you like Tyrion and Teclis the high elven twins? They have a whole trilogy of novels dedicated just to them and appear in many, many other stories. You like Valkia the Bloody? Star of her own novel. Gotrek and Felix? Like 16 novels! The sad part to me is the more minor characters like my girls Naestra and Ahrahan the wood elf twins who only appear very briefly in one rule book then never again until this game. Like this as much of a Spotlight as they are ever going to get now that Warhammer Fantasy is dead. But yeah, ultimately Total Warhammer isn't a standalone thing, its a sandbox for preexisting Warhammer fans like me to smash digital versions of our favourite characters and armies togethet with. Its a love letter to a near decade dead setting.
Wait okay Valkia works fine as a wargame faction leader but how do you wring enough personality out of her to fill a novel. (I mean, I know, there's like eight dozen tomes dedicated to space marine daddy issues so this shouldn't be surprising but)
Anyway this is totally justifiable for the massive Immortal Empires sandbox stuff but the realms of chaos campaigns are at least trying to have an overarching narrative so it feels fine to judge them for being so bad at it.
Besides if all of these characters already have personalities then that's most of the work done!

That Valkia doodle I was talking about earlier~
Debated long and hard whether to give her hair or not, but I ultimately decided against it. Related to this HC. Above is Valkia's true daemon prince form, while the one seen in games and official material is the "half" daemon prince mentioned in the Book of Blood.
Like most Princes, she's got the wings, tail, and ofc the monstrous mug.

So apparently (after digging on Reddit), Valkia genuinely isn't meant to be a Daemon Prince. She's still technically mortal in the same way Sigvald is; obviously touched by her respective God, but not fully ascendant.
The writer of her novels apparently got confused (understandably so) and over time the information there got copied into her wikis and stuff, but that's why in the games she's never been classified as a Daemon.

Gotta ask you mod, what made you choose Chaos?
Well I chose chaos because they got a huge rework. Before the faction rework they were really awful lol. I wanted to play lizardmen since they're my favorite faction from a lore perspective but they need some updates to the geomantic web
Also c'mon. Valkia is awesome! Khorne has always been much cooler than the other three. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) And I can't wait for Skulltaker to be added to the game.

OOC: For some reason, I imagine Khorne watching Valkia fight in the mortal plain and he's the kind of sports fan watching the game, loudly emoting whenever something happens---him springing up from the skull throne when his wife kills a big monster or cleaves through an entire regiment
I also imagine him making the stupid Pogchamp face when human Valkia slew Locephax @stories-from-the-warp

// Also just speaking of Valkia some more real quick, I know she probably has a voice actor in the Total War Warhammer 3 game, and I will not doubt it kicks ass, but am I the only one who can imagine Danielle Bisutti being a perfect fit for her too? Her way of portraying a rage-lady was spot on in GoW Ragnarok as Freya, at least-

Total War: Warhammer 3's latest free hero is Warhammer's original posterboy
Tumblr media
Another free legendary hero is available in Total War: Warhammer 3 as part of version 3.1.0. Ulrika Magdova, a Kislevite vampire, was the antagonist the last time; this time, it's Harald Hammerstorm, better known as Harry the Hammer, a Chaos Warrior who specialises in eliminating anything that emerges from the dead. If you didn't already go through this step to unlock Ulrika, to get Harry in your game you'll first need to register a CA account and connect it to your platform of choice. Otherwise, you can skip that process. With that done, the hammer-wielding Kurgan will join a Warriors of Chaos army in any campaign after you complete his quest "The Hammerstorm Cometh", which appears when you get your legendary lord up to level 15. It demands you kill 3,000 enemies in battle, after which he'll spawn beside your legendary lord on the campaign map. Note that he won't join any of the Daemons of Chaos factions, just Warriors of Chaos like those led by Valkia the Bloody, Festus the Leechlord, Azazel and so on. Harald Hammerstorm is a character with a heck of a lineage, going all the way back to the first edition of tabletop game Warhammer Fantasy Battle in 1983. While the Warhammer world didn't exist at that point, the rules presuming a generic fantasy setting, John Blanche's cover art depicting a heavily armored warrior twatting a skeleton with a hammer would be referenced in later editions. Nicknamed "Harry the Hammer" by Games Workshop's staff, he was Warhammer's first mascot. Though later editions would retroactively make Sigmar's magic hammer the Warhammer of its title, as designer Graeme Davis has said, "Sigmar was consciously based on ." Eventually Harry was inducted into the canon, written up as Harald Hammerstorm. A Norse warrior of the Kurgan tribe, Harald was the slayer of the daemon Mathrag Brainmangler and "bane of the undead" capable of making units normally immune to psychology like zombies and vampires flee in fear while himself immune to their own psychological effects. He, quite literally, ain't afraid of no Ghorst. Harald's Total War stats reflect this, with unique skills that improve the leadership of the army he's embedded in when fighting against the undead, make them immune to vampiric attrition, and double their experience gain from defeating undead. Recruiting Harry does mean taking a 20-point penalty to your diplomatic relations with Vampire Counts factions, not that a Warriors of Chaos army is likely to play nice with the leeches anyway. He also disables the effects of the Undead attribute on anyone he faces, making them likely to flee just like he did on the tabletop, as well as disabling effects like vampiric healing. Looks like smashing skeletons is still his thing. The 3.1.0 update also brings a new Immortal Empires endgame crisis related to Chaos Dwarfs called The Will of Hashut, some rebalance tweaks for Bretonnian factions, and more mercenary Regiments of Renown to recruit, like the Boglars of the Mad Marshes, Bandits of the Silver Road, and the Frolickers Bubonic. According to the Total War: Warhammer 3 roadmap, update 4.0 will arrive in summer with another legendary hero, achievements for Immortal Empires campaigns, and the Shadows of Change DLC to bolster the ranks of Tzeentch, Cathay, and Kislev. Four New Warriors of Chaos Legendary Lords:
The Champions of Chaos have risen through the ranks in Update 2.0. All due to their infamous deeds to become the favoured of the four Dark Gods. Wage War With Up To 86 Legendary Lords:
Legendary Lords are (in)famous and powerful characters from the Warhammer world. Since they lead your armies on their immortal conquest. Each has a unique playstyle and gameplay mechanics. Conquer the Vast Warhammer World:
Immortal Empires holds the most detailed reimagining of the iconic Warhammer Fantasy Battles World. Including the length and breadth of its breathtaking fantasy landscape. So that players will conquer a swathe of biomes from the lush. But deadly jungles of Lustria and the barren deserts of the Southlands. Immortal Empires offers the classic sandbox Total War experience. Update 2.0 has several new features and quality of life improvements. Including; Be’Lakor as a playable Legendary Lord. Also, an all-new ‘Sea Lanes’ mechanic to help circumnavigate the map with updated mechanics. Those playstyles for factions introduced in WARHAMMER I & II.
