They all want their turn but they have to be diligent. Good boys. (Old gift for @positivelyvexed!)

oh I drew these a little bit ago but never posted them... had a rather lengthy convo in the DE discord about which mercs would get along w who and there was some Interesting Discussion but I only did these. u can tell here I never draw tf2 guys lol
i think I'll have to get back to it once assessment time is over.
kim kitsuragi going to a shooting range with miss pauling and having pleasant conversation as queer glasses-wearing sharpshooters until he finds out her "administrator's assistant" job involves burying bodies. titus hardie and heavy big-guy-to-big-guy telepathic communication. harry du bois and soldier in-depth bear-wrestling convo turned violent brawl over communism. zhanna and kim mildly heated argument afterwards with both sides arguing THEIR man would win in a bear-wrestling contest. lilienne giving harry the eyelander after the Date. the possibilities are endless...

I’m so obsessed with visual calculus as a skill I need to rant about it!!!!
The game description of the skill is “Reconstruct crime scenes. Make laws of physics work for the Law.” And it’s “Cool for: Forensics Scientists, Tactical Fighters, Math-Minded People”
But it’s not just math!! It’s not even a lot of math at all!! Its about seeing the near past and the near future through the physical the rational and the tangible!!! I like shivers and inland empire as much as the next de fan but, there’s just something SO COOL about seeing successful viscalc checks highlight the environment around you in a way that is unique to any other skill. I really wish there were more of those moments in the game
Viscalc can tell you about the crime you committed before you woke up and the crime you are there to investigate and the crime that would be committed in a moment during the tribunal. It is the MOST FOUNDATIONAL layer of abstraction that Harry’s brain puts on reality. It is the only skill that speaks FROM THE TANGIBLE WORLD, but ABOUT HYPOTHETICALS. It is the skill that connects the baseless intuition of inland empire/shivers and the contextless empiricism of encyclopedia/perception. I just. AUGH!
Also the art is so good
Visual Calculus my beloved. I want to be you and what you represent

This skill had metaphorical hands. And it kicked my ass.

So I was messing around in collage mode (yes I know it’s a blatant attempt on Studio ZA/UM’s part to pander to an audience that obviously hate their guts for what they did to the creative team, don’t come for me) and was casually zooming in on the details of various assets until I came across the visual calculus diagram showcasing the directions the bullets might’ve been shot from and look what I came across.
This is just me speculating but I think that may be a heavily edited photo of Robert Kurvitz in the role of Lely during his final moments. Now that I see it when its far less faded, it has such a striking resemblance to the lead writer. If that really is Robert Kurvitz like I think it is, he not only put a photo of himself in his own game but he used said photo to both censor and represent Lely fucking Klaasje moments before the bullet made contact with the back of his throat. That’s so wild to me cause I never noticed it until now!
