when in doubt, the best thing to find yourself doing on a free day with little to no schedule, it is to sleep. sleep in as much as you can. now granted, it’s not like hayes in general is always busy but that doesn’t mean one shouldn’t actually indulge in a long nap right? then again he does have a good excuse for such nap and that’s due to him staying up for a long time last night working on a music project, a collab with other fellow soundcloud musicians and he was running a deadline. he normally wouldn’t be struggling so much but he wanted it to be perfect so he spent long hours at night, getting not much sleep...until now that is. the lad eventually would find himself waking up but it was moreso due to the fact that his phone was going off -he was forvever cursing to himself that he picked the loudest preset ringtone that was within his phone-. someone was calling him that caused him to get out of his slumber.

with a groan followed by a curse or two, hayes reached out for the his phone that was on his nightstand. blindly trying to locate the phone with touch alone before pressing the answer button “hello?” not really paying attention on who exactly was calling him

personal relationships aren’t something noel can afford to keep . daily life holds too many things that need to be maintained and thus he needs to keep himself on the back burner at all times . however , he’s allowed himself leniency with her . being with her was the one thing that noel could do without feeling guilty . being with her made him feel void of all aches he felt - both physical and emotionally . instead he’d allow himself to live in the moment , to live happily and without care . isn’t sure when the line between platonic and more had become blurred . isn’t sure how long he’d noticed it but chose to keep quiet , fearful that he might drive away someone he cherished so dearly . until now . isn’t sure when or whether he’d be able to move past these feelings and so he’d faced himself with a new struggle . when he’d express them . question eats him up inside , daily moments seeming much more difficult compared to earlier times . take now for example . they’re side by side and all he wants to do is take hold of their hand . ‘ what should we do next ? ’ question asked in desperate attempt at distraction . not that it seems to be working . @wistfulreality

r i d i c u l o u s. minhyun shouldn’t be wasting his time like this. every petty function, every boring meeting, every stupid, gross handshake -- for what? for the sake of his dad’s business endeavors, which don’t interest him, have never interested him, and will never interest him. period, underscore, boldface.

there were only two good things about parties like the one tonight: free food and a chance to engage in the cat and mouse game he’s been playing for -- how long has it been? a year? two?

their dads were rivals, so their companies were rivals, so, by the supreme logic of things, he and hyerim were rivals, too. the only reason they bumped into each other so much was that their parents liked to go after the same business deals; maybe they were just like-minded, or maybe (probably) their dads got off on the competition. whatever the reason, minhyun did not like having to run into her snooty face every so often.

until recently, when he started realizing she could look not so much snooty as... well, for lack of a better word, pretty (?!?!?!). he hates admitting that to himself, but he’s a smart guy, and smart guys are confident in the face of what they know and humble in acknowledging what they don’t know. and he doesn’t fucking know why she gets under his skin as much as she does.

he needs at least a .02 blood alcohol level to engage, though, so he lets a steady stream of wine flow while he waits for her to stop being annoyingly surrounded by other people. he’s downed his fourth glass when he sees his opening, and he sidles up to her, fingers knotted behind his back in a show of innocence (the operative word being show).

“nice dress,” he hums, feigning conversational nonchalance. “very indicative of how far down south your dad’s business is going.”

kenneth has never been one for the cliche boy meets girl tropes. he’s tried his best to stay away from any instance in which he would be considered part of something one would see on tv. high school was EASY enough to get through. though his popularity was quite high, he never had trouble straying from the crowds of ANGSTY teens desperate to be “friends” with the golden new boy from america. quiet corridors were his hideaway, closets with no brooms, music rooms with no music, lost spaces that the faculty and students had long forgotten about, absent of any life but that’s what drew him so CLOSE all those years. if only for the grace of her his life seemed anything near to normal, his grandmother’s illness continued to get worse and his parents fought constantly, home seemed nothing more than a TRAP that he was too often sucked into. it was her that he found his sanctuary, a diamond in the rough that he called his life. she was so different from everyone, and perhaps it was her knowledge of the english language that lead him to her but he would never admit that ( his pride would never let him ). euijin was his ROCK all those years, his best friend still. his first true love perhaps, melancholy as it is. the love he would never forget, even after his feelings began to fade and he realized that she could never be anything more than what she is ; a friend. and so he found himself living in a trope once again after coming to korea from the states ; boy meets girl. the ending always seems to be the same, he’d seen enough television to know that he would lose to the nobody that she was so preoccupied with. he’d always be the dorky sidekick. lingering feelings strung his heart on a rope, drawn tight and numb. after the heartache came the DESIRE, the sex, the drinking, the partying. kenneth played with fire and one too many times got himself B U R N E D. but he didn’t care much, as toxic as it was. he chose it over the PAIN in his chest he felt every time he had to see her with him. until finally he woke up ... and it was G O N E.

fast forward and kenneth finds himself stroking euijin’s back, tender fingers tracing the patterns of her shirt in an attempt to keep her weariness to a minimum. the other hand is holding her cheek in an effort to catch any loose tears. every salty droplet is a PROMISE that he’ll kick his ass, and he whispers to her that it won’t be pretty ( an effort to see her smile ). another trope he’s fallen to ; the dorky sidekick to save the day. he lets a hand fall to the couch cushion below him, positioning himself directly in front of her form now. it is then that he looks into her eyes, practically drowning on the spot in them. he shoves his emotions down his throat with a swallow, self - pity can wait for later. ❝ you won’t have to worry about him any longer. i know people ... who know people. if there’s a will, there’s a way. and it’s for goddamn sure that i have the will. ❞ // @wistfulreality

fingers are currently buried in dark hair , lips muttering swears beyond necessary . alcohol in system can be blamed for many things but not for the words she’d texted only moments ago . though expression of feelings can go easily wrong , elena holds onto hope that maybe they won’t . maybe they’d been waiting for her to ask them too . however , she does regret the address drop sent before answer can be received . in the moment she’d believed that in person rejection could be easier to swallow but now she’s stumbling onto realization that it may not be . leaving is a thought that crosses mind though she’s quick to push it away . doesn’t even want to begin thinking how awful things could turn out if she’d gone by the time they arrived . if they arrived . deep breath will eventually leave lips , fingers moving to pour herself a drink . if not for luck then for numbness . @wistfulreality
