In honour of #thankfulthursday, there’s so much that we’re really thankful about, our customers who understand what we’re about and appreciate our work, the amazing people we collaborate with and the special organisations we’ve worked with and continue to work with. ⁣ Once such organisation we’ve been so thankful to have crossed paths with nearly 2 years now is charity Aham Bhumika (ahambhumika.org). ⁣ #Ahambhumika is an NGO based in Bhopal, India. It works in two villages on the outskirts of Bhopal, with the aim to enable rural women earn a livelihood and be self sufficient. ⁣ The Elephant head features several beautiful cushion covers from them and they are all part of Aham Bhumika’s embroidery initiative. They have been made by a group of more than 30+ skilled rural artisans. We are thrilled to be a small part of this noble initiative and are absolutely besotted by their work. The theme for #iwd2022 is ‘break the bias’ for a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Because even in today’s day and age we still have gender pay gaps, female leaders are still lacking, violence against women and girls persists, and women still fall behind men in terms of education and healthcare. As a female-led business— supporting and empowering women and artisans has been at the heart of what we do— we wanted to take this opportunity to shine spotlight on some incredible social enterprises we work with that are helping #breakthebias —-@auroville_papers @ahambhumika, @varnamcraftcollective ,@Blue Jaipur, who work at the #grassroots level to help revive art and craft forms and empower artisans, but also specifically make it a mission to train, upskill and employ women artisans ⭐️.
