#super dark times #zach taylor #allison bannister #sam edits #if you listen closely you can hear the sound of both mine and Allison's hearts breaking! <3 #ok but fr: i know this is gifs. so no sound. but the WAY he DELIVERS the 'you've got a bump on your head' line makes me NUTS #it's so soft. it's so fond. it's... it's a punch in the fucking gut. he likes her *so much* but he *can't let himself have this nice #thing with her* because he's *being eaten alive by guilt he can't accept & won't let himself be happy because of it* and SHE DOESN'T KNOW! #like the thing. the thing is. when you watch SDT you're along the ride with Zach and his POV of everything. despite the obvious paranoia #& guilt warping his perspective/influencing his behavior—we can see where that's all coming from. we understand the motivations #behind the actions he takes. but ALLISON? Allison has no fucking clue what's going on! from Allison's perspective... Zach is this guy she's #known for a while (like they make a point of *telling us* in one of the earliest scenes that Zach feels weird talking about her in the #detached way they may talk abt other people in their grade they barely know—because it's *different* since he and Josh *actually know her* #plus in the script [and it STILL COUNTS TO ME because she *starts* saying the line but just gets cut off by Dennis] Allison brings #up Zach & Josh having had a silly handshake since 7th grade ['oh god that used to make me pee!' <- girl why would u say that to him] #so it's like... these are kids who've known each other for years!) and he's got this obvious fucking crush on her (the hallway scene where #he is. blatantly staring and she catches him for a second) and the moment she decides to actually start pursuing him because SHE'S #got a crush on HIM too... he starts pulling away and acting erratic and sending her the most mixed signals in the fucking world. #and sheee THINKSSS ITS HERRR FAULT!!!!!!!! like. listen. this scene i giffed above? this is what she's fucking talking about later #when she jokes about not wanting to 'scare him off again'. like sure she says it like a joke but... uhm. i simply think there's #a certain amount of truth to it too—because he DID leave the party visibly freaked out! and i think it'd be perfectly believable for her #to think that it was at least partially HER pushing too hard that was causing him to withdraw/pull away from her. plus she blatantly says #she thinks she's the reason Josh & Zach are fighting. like. this poor girl is on the outskirts of a tragedy she'll probably NEVER know the #details of but she's seeing firsthand the impact it's having on Zach and... blaming herself... that's so fucking heartbreaking

#song of the day #two hours in a car + four hours in a different car + eight hours on the train + two hours in yet a different car(truck) and now home! #it was a good trip and I'm glad to have done it (actually there's a couple people I didn't get to see so I could've gone for longer) #but today was big stinky balls and I'm so glad to be home at last #the cats are very happy to see us and my poor plants. my poor plants. maybe actually I could not have been gone any longer. #I left such detailed notes on watering but it didn't occur to me to also specify that they should be allowed /light/ my poor plants #anyway our train stopped dead for half an hour outside DC while they changed motors and it was so dark and cold and boring #and I thought 'what's a song I might know all the words to that I've never tried to remember without backing. a nice test song' #and for some reason I came up with Spamalot! a very fun musical #I do indeed know all of the Diva's Lament though I couldn't get You Won't Succeed on Broadway all in the right order #Duncan did ask me what I was thinking about and I got to deliver a couple Diva's Lament lines deadpan #'they've been out searching for a shrub / out shopping for a bush! well they can kiss my tush! / seems to me they've really lost the plot' #no better nonsense than Spamalot

You know what? Fuck it. Four Rooms is fun as hell, yes, even the first two parts that aren't written and directed by two great directors people are afraid to criticise. I don't care what the critics say, I had a lot of fun watching it.

#HUGE fan of putting those guys in situations and this ep has truly delivered on that front #everyones so beautifully out of their depth. picard cant do anything cause hes stuck in a turbolift with 3 random kids #worf delivers keiko's baby (featuring the lifechanging line 'u may now give birth'). data is decapitated. #beverly and geordi start a plasma fire in the cargo bay and almost get vacuumed out of the ship while putting it out. #the only people with access to the bridge are deanna chief obrien ensign ro (who had just joined the enterprise crew like 2 eps before) #and another ensign who gets like 1.5 lines in total for some reason. deanna is technically in charge #but somehow has no idea how the ship works despite being a senior officer. idk that felt so weird tbh she must have had required training #plus shes surrounded by this stuff all the time and shes really quite smart like i cant believe she wouldnt have at least some idea #of whats going on. like ro literally knows way more than her so at least it doesnt stand out so much as an 'haha woman dumb' thing #however i do admit that the part where they had to spell out to her that the ship is gonna explode if they dont do anything did deliver #in terms of comedic effect #these tags r way too long and im sure no ones reading em anymore anyways but yeah. tng s5e5 what an episode ! loved it so much <33 #thots
