Aight so now that I have finished Brothersong I have THOUGHTS on further logistical breakdowns of how Green Creek could be adapted to a GLAAD Award-Winning HBO TV show. Spoilers so here is a cut for anyone who wants to be fresh to the series.
PRE-PRODUCTION
OKAY SO! The filming block for Season 1/Wolfsong would MOST LIKELY be the biggest, especially for scenes involving younger versions of the actors. As these are spread out across, like, all four books, some are just “scene we’ve seen but from a different perspective or with ‘Dream Seauence VFX’ so we just need more blocking/extra takes to make it all seem believeable using B-roll” to “yeah this requires Young Thomas and various child actors so we’re filming this beforehand so that everyone looks the same when these scenes come up later” to “ah hell we gotta shave their heads anyways might as well film the revenge road trip.” Thus, basically everyone but, like, Dominique would have to be cast by Season 1, and probably all of Season 1 and half of season 2 would need to be written and finalized and drafts/outlines of Season 3 and 4 would need to be made before casting would begin. Writer’s room would include TJ and a racially-diverse LGBT staff.
Caswell wouldn’t need to be fully built but enough of a location would be needed to film individual scenes with the younger actors and scenes set in the big house at Caswell (ie arguments between Mark and Thomas, Joe being taken, Thomas in the woods with the kids, Thomas writing the letters)
Title sequence would be based on the lovely new covers for the hardcover editions from Tor. They’d get longer with each season and by the end we see the whole pack in the papercraft style of the covers.
CASTING
Yeah we’d need a big ass cast. With multiple actors to play different characters at different ages.
Babies:
Carter, Kelly, Joe, maybe also Gavin depending on things
Children:
Gordo, Gavin, Mark, Rico, Chris, Tanner, Carter, Kelly, Joe, Robbie
Young Adult (ie Teen to Mid 20s) and Adult (ie by the Rough Present of when Ox first discoveres the secret of the Bennetts)
Basically everyone else
The tricky part will be that, yeah, there will probably need to be different actors for 20s Thomas, Elizabeth, Mark, and Gordo because while a 20-something can play 16 or so, its harder for 30-40 year olds to play 20-something. The upside being that an older actor CAN play Gordo for the scenes after Ox’s dad leaves (also Ox’s dad will need a name lol). You would need to switch to older actors for the Bennett kids and Ox basically once Ox graduates high school. But then you can keep all the same actors for the rest of the “present” set scenes. Osmond, and Robert Livingstone would also need younger actors. Richard Collins would only need one actor he’s barely in the flashbacks as it is.
STRUCTURE/PLOT RAMBLINGS
There are a few things that would need to be done in order to improve the pacing for TV, imo. Mainly, that the handing off of Alpha of All to the Fairbanks pack needs to feel more earned and less semi-random. Like, show them taking in Omegas at the end of Season 2, have them be allies at Caswell in Season 3 and the final battle in Season 4. Flesh them out a bit more. Also some continuity smoothing would be needed (ie clarifying that Gordo refused Mark’s MATE bite not Thomas’s BECOME WOLF bite).
Some more forshadowing of Robert’s failsafe in Season 2 would help. Obviously SHOW Gavin’s timber wolf in the attack on Jessie (and ideally have the actor be the body actor wearing the CGI ball suit moving all wolf-like in the scene) in Season 1.
I’d personally add in more of a wrap-up in Caswell at the end of Season 4. And also an extended aftermath scene or episode after Ox’s resurrection. Joe’s wolf is still bigger than almost everyone else, but not as big as it was when he was Alpha. One thing that I’d ask to be added is, maybe with the death of Robert and the ressurrection of Ox there’s a big ass magic pulse and we get a follow-up with the new Alpha of All from Alaska training Betas who have become Alphas thanks to Mystical Moon Magic as they rebuild packs across the continent. Idk the story needs more of a denumont. Alpha of All making more of an effort to try and bring Omegas back from the brink before just automatically deciding to kill them.
Dominique could have human bite marks on her to show thar Jessie tried to “Mate Bite” too even as a human. Bambi and Rico too.
He/They Gavin? Maybe? Gavin feels very he/they. Also Elizabeth showing affection to Maggie (hey if we’re gonna imply that Thomas and Richard had a kind of romantic love for each other in Brothersong before he went Omega Lizzie can make side-eye at Maggie).
Show more of the three year gap between Ravensong and Heartsong (not a lot but more than just one bit when Robbie is kidnapped). And the new story in the deluxe hardcover books too. The myth or whatever. That can be animated in a sketchy style (think Princess Kaguya or Wolfwalkers) with VO from Elizabeth.
Anyway rambling over I love these books so much. TJ I woudn’t say no to a LIGHT DRAMA/mostly fluff 5th book or short story. Maybe from Chris or Tanner’s perspective? Or Jessie’s?

The Right Partner - Steggy Netflix Series
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steggy Week 2022 Day 1: Inspired By (@steggyfanevents)
Tried my hand at a more complex edit! Template made by @seungnm
This series is inspired by:
1. The story structure of the 45-50 minute 22-episode season arc (particularly a la season 1-3 of Agents of SHIELD where the events that lead to the mid-season finale cause a cataclysmic-type event that launches the plot of the second half of the season.)
2. The style of a Mike Schur Comedy (The Good Place, Parks and Recreation)
3. The fact that we deserve a full, well-written series based on Steve and Peggy’s life post-Endgame goddammit
Full Episode List and Summaries for the “Continue Watching” Shows under the cut! (Be warned, it is a lot)

From lauded writer and teacher Matt Bell, Refuse to Be Done is encouraging and intensely practical, focusing always on specific rewriting tasks, techniques, and activities for every stage of the process. You won’t find bromides here about the “the writing Muse.” Instead, Bell breaks down the writing process in three sections. In the first, Bell shares a bounty of tactics, all meant to push you through the initial conception and get words on the page. The second focuses on reworking the narrative through outlining, modeling, and rewriting. The third and final section offers a layered approach to polishing through a checklist of operations, breaking the daunting project of final revisions into many small, achievable tasks.
Whether you are a first time novelist or a veteran writer, you will find an abundance of strategies here to help motivate you and shake up your revision process, allowing you to approach your work, day after day and month after month, with fresh eyes and sharp new tools.
The Book Bible by Susan Shapiro
Hundreds of thousands of books come out every year worldwide. So why not yours? In The Book Bible, New York Times bestseller and wildly popular Manhattan writing professor Susan Shapiro reveals the best and fastest ways to break into a mainstream publishing house. Unlike most writing manuals that stick to only one genre, Shapiro maps out the rules of all the sought-after, sellable novels, memoirs, biography, how-to, essay collections, anthologies, humor, mystery, crime, poetry, picture books, young adult and middle grade, fiction and nonfiction. Shapiro once worried that selling 16 books in varied sub-sections made her a literary dabbler. Yet after helping her students publish many award-winning bestsellers on all shelves of the bookstore, she realized that her versatility had a huge upside. She could explain, from personal experience, the differences in making each kind of book, as well as ways to find the right genre for every project and how to craft a winning proposal or great cover letter to get a top agent and book editor to say yes.
This valuable guide will teach both new and experienced scribes how to attain their dream of becoming a successful author.
The Storytellers edited by Mark Rubinstein
Have you ever read a suspense novel so good you had to stop and think to yourself, "How did the author come up with this idea? Their characters? Is some of this story real?" For over five years, Mark Rubinstein, physician, psychiatrist, and mystery and thriller writer, had the chance to ask the most well-known authors in the field just these kinds of questions in interviews for the Huffington Post.
Collected here are interviews with forty-seven accomplished authors, including Michael Connelly, Ken Follett, Meg Gardiner, Dennis Lehane, Laura Lippman, and Don Winslow. These are their personal stories in their own words, much of the material never before published. How do these writers' life experiences color their art? Find out their thoughts, their inspirations, their candid opinions. Learn more about your favorite authors, how they work and who they truly are.

Should the Justice Society leave the DCEU and join the DCU?
Tumblr media
While I may have reservations about the shake-up at Warner Bros, I am very excited about the DCU, and Peter Safran and James Gunn will likely bring the audience back in favor of Warner Bros. Discovery. However, and yes, I'm about to sound like a broken record again, I am worried for the Justice Society of America, aka JSA, which first entered the DCEU and appeared in the 2020 Black Adam film, which was something of a spin-off from the 2019 Shazam film. Say what you will, but the team of the Justice Society of America was one of the film's best parts. I know they were a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs I hear on the web) in the movie, but it was entertaining to see the fight scenes the characters had with Black Adam, who, if you didn't know, was portrayed by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Get ready for minor spoilers.
The Justice Society was first introduced in the comics in the Winter of 1940 to 1941. All-Star Comics #3, published by All-American Publications then, was written by Gardner Fox and edited by Sheldon Mayer during what was considered the Golden Age of comic books. The Justice Society was the first team of superheroes in comic books. The group initially included: Doctor Fate, Hour-Man, aka Rex Tyler, and the Spectre, aka Jim Corrigan. The Sandman, aka Wesley Bernard "Wes" Dodds, the Atom. Flash, aka Jay Garrick, Green Lantern, aka Alan Scott, and Hawkman.
He is the hero Hawkman, a winged guardian entrusted by Nth Metal armor. In the comics, Hawkman is an archaeologist and an alien Thanagarian who has been reincarnated thousands of times through a curse. Every time he is born again, he must walk the earth till he encounters again with his everlasting soul mate. But shortly as he and his soulmate, Shiera Sanders Hall, aka Hawkgirl, develop a deep bind, they are fated to be slain again, and it persists.
As for Doctor Fate, well, in the comics decades ago, before World War II, a twelve-year-old Kent Nelson tracked his father, Sven Nelson, into the Valley of Ur. His father had been hit with a prophetic dream sometime earlier, a vision of an ancient tomb belonging to an extra-terrestrial wizard. When Kent encounters the wizard known as Nabu, he pushes Kent to press down on a nearby lever, casting a toxic gas extinguishing his father.
Nabu soon overflowed Kent's mind with mystifying knowledge and reconstructed him to his physical and mental peaks, changing him into a being of pure order. Nabu then showed Kent the helmet of fate, and the two became great heroes and forces for order within the universe.
Cyclone, on the other hand, is a 19-year-old student at Harvard University and an avid lover of the works of L. Frank Baum, particularly The Wizard of Oz. She is also the granddaughter of Abigail "Ma" Hunkel, an honorary member of the Justice Society who served as the original Red Tornado and is presently a caregiver of the Justice Society of America's headquarters. When Maxine was young, she idolized her grandmother's allies in the JSA.
Then there is Atom-Smasher, the godson of Al Pratt, the Golden Age Atom, Albert Rothstein, received his metahuman abilities of super strength and control over his molecular structure, letting him modify his height and density body, from his grandfather, a dubious supervillain known as Cyclotron. When he was younger, he went by the name Nuklon and was a charter member of Infinity, Inc., and later functioned in the Justice League. He has been deemed a reliable but somewhat unconfident and uncertain superhero in Infinity, Inc. He had a mohawk haircut during this time. While in the JLA, he developed a strong friendship with fellow former Infinity Inc.
In the film, the team was currently condensed in the roster and consisted of Hawkman, aka Carter Hall, whom Aldis Hodge portrayed. Albert "Al" Rothstein, aka Atom Smasher, was portrayed by Noah Centineo, Cyclone, Maxine Hunkel, Quintessa Swindell, and Doctor Fate; Kent Nelson was performed by Pierce Brosnan, whose performance I thought was the highlight of the film.
After hearing about Black Adam, US government official, and Argus director Amanda Waller called Hawkman, the team's de facto leader, and tasked him to assemble a crew and bring Black Adam into custody. Hawkman then forms the team, which seems to be the group's reappearance, which once featured known members himself, The Savage Hawkman, the Golden Age Doctor Fate, and the Mighty Mite The Atom, who was also the uncle of Atom Smasher.
As you can imagine, the team's first encounter against Black Adam was met with hostile intentions between the JSA and Black Adam. The group manages to stop Adam for a while before he escapes to the ruins of Anh-Kot's palace. During the fight, fate learns that Adrianna is an archeologist who freed Black Adam. The JSA asks Adrianna to give them the crown, but she refuses until they reveal to her the truth that Adam was the one who lost control of his ability five thousand years ago and annihilated the Khandaq palace in his revenge for the king, who killed his family, seeking power at the time.
However, now I'm getting off-topic. In short, aside from the fight with Black Adam, one of the other spotlights of the film was from Hawkman's mansion to the secret underground base where they held Hawkman's jet, the Hawk Cruiser. Even the bantering and camaraderie between the team and Atom Smasher getting in trouble with Hawkman more than once.
My only complaint was that we didn't get more of the team dynamic and that they weren't the story's focus, which I know would be odd as the film was about Black Adam. And unfortunately, not the JSA.
Now that the DC film franchise is getting an overhaul and reboot of a slate of new films and TV shows whose to same this version of the JSA will appear, which would be a shame as the heroes seemed just to be getting their feet wet.
I haven't always been the most loyal fan of the Justice Society, but after watching the Black Adam film, I have been warming myself up with the team, even with their comic book counterparts. I'd like to see more of the Justice Society, but I want to know if the team will still be around after the characters' reshuffle at DC Studios. Viola Davis plans to portray Amanda Waller so that she may require the services of the Justice Society of America. But who knows? What were your thoughts on the team in the Black Adam film? Did you have a favorite part of the movie? Which JSA would you like to see in a standalone film? Well, that's it for now. Until then, Venture Onward.

#KimickaPhotoADay May Day 2: Book(s) 📚 “It’s basically Batman meets Little Orphan Annie” - @theallycarter The newest addition to my Ally Carter collection! Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor! Ally's first middle grade book! A couple weeks ago I noticed it was less than $4 on Amazon (still is!) & it's been on my list for a LONG time, so I had to pick it up! Lol. Now all that's missing from my Ally Carter collection is Winterborne Home for Mayhem and Mystery (Winterborne book 2) and Dear Ally: How Do You Write A Book? (well, from the physically available books, not pictured are Double Crossed & Grift Of The Magi, & the Embassy Row shorts, that are only available as eBooks. And the Gallagher Girls prequel only available as an audiobook, which I thought was only on audible, but I've seen CD versions on Amazon). (Also not pictured is my hard cover first edition of I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You (Gallagher book 1), b/c it's not on my shelf, so I assume I put it in storage since I have the new editions) I also wanted to post this Thriftbooks bingo card they shared on their stories a few days ago. B/c I got an almost full card! Lol. #book #books #reading #bookstagram #winterbornehomeforvengeanceandvalor #winterborne #allycarter #amazon #thriftbooks #gallaghergirls #heistsociety #embassyrow #notifisaveyoufirst #shelfie #bookstack #photo #photoaday #photoadaychallenge https://www.instagram.com/p/CdEdt3GJnP5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
