Posts about LOST making me revisit my thoughts / headcanons about what happens with Ben and Hurley on the now-peaceful island.
I love the idea of the dynamic between Ben knowing everything about how the island works, but not much about popular culture or actually having a life outside of following orders and doing things for the sake of the island. And Hurley wanting Ben to loosen up and also deal with some of that trauma that he’s got going on, but also being very ‘???’ about how the island works.
And Hurley has an uphill battle because the remaining people on the island:
Don’t know who he is just emerging from the forest and proclaiming him to be the new protector
Ben is here and has a history of being the Cause Of Problems and now he’s claiming to be good now and this new guy is vouching for him but how can we trust him when he’s a known liar
So trying to get Ben used to living a more settled and less traumatic life is challenging because the guy has been essentially running on fumes for years and now his conscience and trauma is catching up with him and isolating himself doing paperwork isn’t going to help that.
Headcanons for Ben & Hurley’s Adventures On The Island™️
Ben is sometimes very exasperated at Hurley continuously questioning stuff that he understood (or learned not to question) when he was barely a teenager. But also Hurley keeps trying to get Ben to sit down and eat some goddamn popcorn because what do you mean you haven’t watched [movie]?!
Ben has to to unlearn lying automatically as a form of putting up walls. Hurley becomes very adept at telling when Ben is lying (he doesn’t know if that’s part of being the Protector or if his friendship with Ben has granted him that).
Hurley introduces Ben to ‘his culture’ (ie movies and video games. He uses his powers as Protector to ransack an out-of-business Blockbusters at least once) - while also reading books Ben recommends even though he’s not much of a book guy but he wants to meet him halfway.
Both of them help each other process their grief, trauma, and PTSD from [gestures to the entirety of LOST]. Including flashbacks, nightmares and panic attacks. Both of them are good listeners, it’s getting the other to talk about their problems that’s the struggle (Hurley rambles about other things to change the subject while Ben will just keep working until he drops)
Following from that, Hurley keeps getting imposter syndrome and thinking he’s not good enough to be the Protector. And he doesn’t understand why Ben trusts him (Ben also has this exact fear too but hides it far better)
Ben is still unused to hugs, which is an issue as Hurley is a big hugger. He has picked ben up in a bear hug and spun him around at least once.
Basically Hurley has adopted the human equivalent of a rescued attack dog as his emotional support animal.

The above is a screenshot of one of tropes from Shadoo's section in the SPM TV Tropes page that caught my interest.
“Never mentioned to be killed...” Hm. If I go by my headcanon of how Dimentio fits into the story of the Pixl Uprising (i.e he's both the Magician's son and the surviving apprentice who defeated the Pixl Queen), then that would give another parallel of how Dimentio was once a hero who had a Pixl that could see the truth who stopped an antagonist who had the Dark Prognosticus who several thousand years later switched sides. And by another parallel, I mean it works perfectly alongside this.
The reason Shadoo exists (if they are the Pixl Queen) is because he couldn't go through with killing his sister; he cared for her too much and now here she is stuck at the bottom of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials and wanting to exact revenge on the Ancients for sealing her away. Based on how Shadoo has a robotic text box and says that they were created by the Ancients, it can be presumed she forgot she was ever human. She forgot who she was.
Fast forward to the events of SPM and Dimentio's intended kill-shot for Count Bleck gets intercepted by Nastasia and knocks her unconscious in addition to injuring her. Either he had the power of that shot just enough to kill Bleck and no further and that's why Nastasia survived, because why waste precious energy? All he has to do is finish Count Bleck off who is already at death’s door thanks to the heroes.
Or Nastasia was just very fortunate to survive a full-powered blast. My money's on something like the former because Dimentio has well more than enough power to absolutely guarantee no one would survive an attack like that. (the average person who isn't a hero or built for combat— which Nastasia very much isn't— anyway.)
Then there's him saving O'Chunks and Mimi from what would have been certain death by teleporting them to Dimension D. We know they didn't end up in the same place as Peach and Bowser because neither they nor O'Chunks and Mimi make any mention of such. Pair that with the fact that the Void can't be seen from Dimension D and thus heavily implying that anyone inside it would survive the Void that would destroy everything else, and you're left with the only explanation of Dimentio having saved them. I do believe that Dimentio screwed up by not only "catching feelings" and he genuinely did care for the other minions deep down as much as he tries to deny that; and I have mentioned in a prior post about him putting all of the people who could have possibly done something about the Super Dimentio fusion in the same place.
If he hadn't cared as much as he did for them and just left them to their fates, he would have won. I feel that the reason why the floor came out under Bowser and O'Chunks is because of Dimentio— because why make a trap like that that is intended to kill any who don't make it out in time and then have it to where after a certain amount of time, it would give any of the heroes still inside who may somehow still be alive an escape and make a comeback? It makes no sense. And it's because of that, that Peach was able to survive by landing on top of Bowser.
Had he only teleported Bowser out and left O'Chunks, and teleported Peach while leaving Mimi, the minions wouldn't have been able to band together with Count Bleck and Tippi to recharge the Pure Hearts and destroy his invincibility. It was his inability to go through with killing them or just letting them die because he actually cared about them— cared too much— that caused his own undoing.
History literally repeats itself if one subscribes to believing Dimentio is both the Magician's son and the last surviving apprentice.
First Shadoo who may or may not be the Pixl Queen, was spared by her brother who couldn't bear to go through with killing her therefore causing future consequences for if she ever gets free. Then the minions— including Nastasia and Count Bleck who for the latter, Dimentio in his ever present wisdom decided to spare killing for later— with their love for each other that was allowed to continue existing all because he spared them for the time being, recharged the Pure Hearts and caused immediate consequences for himself and was the catalyst for his defeat.
In the first instance, he was on the “heroic” side. For the last he was on the “villainous” side.

holy shit you got carjacked? that must've been terrifying
oh yeah in the moment it was pretty wild. had a hard time sleeping that night obviously. but honestly between my roommate and my family & friends and everybody being very cool about it and letting me talk through it like, IMMEDIATELY, the discomfort was honestly pretty limited.
PLUS my car was a piece of shit anyway. it was so shitty that it actually broke down on the dude who stole it, which led to the police catching him. it ALSO led to my insurance company declaring the car totaled and paying me the full value of the damn thing, which helped me get a new car pretty quickly.
my roommate also had the catalytic converter stolen off their car in that parking lot a few days later, so they were actually 100% cool with breaking our lease at that apartment and moving somewhere else pretty much right away, and we magically found a really NICE apartment in our budget, like. nicer than the old place by A Significant Margin.
BASICALLY it sucked and was bad, but it snowballed very quickly into me having a way nicer car and apartment than i did before, so???
i can't, uh, really complain about this man taking my car from me at gunpoint, aside from the fact that it made me briefly afraid for my life and also i had to interact with cops a lot afterward???
and honestly. one of the cops was like a really hot butch woman and i know I KNOW ACAB okay? and like im aroace so its not like i wouldve done anything anyway but like. im also gay and i have eyes you know if it had to be ANY cop im just saying,

ty @thebloatedfrog for the tag <33
snippet from untitled r/s one shot:
Sirius had tried to befriend Remus Lupin approximately three minutes after their first class had let out, cornering him between the rose bushes and the shallow steps outside of Austin Hall, only for Remus to look down at his outstretched hand, his gaze lingering over his Black family ring, his pressed corduroys, his cashmere sweater, and then flicking back up to his smiling face to smile back at him, thin and mean and so ridiculously handsome that Sirius still thinks about it twelve years later to say, “I’m not interested, Black.”

Where did everyone get the info that Bully originally had a storyline with Johnny and Mandy?
why hello anon!!! i hope you know that you have unleashed a beast bc that's something i'm soooo passionate about
so basically!! premise: we're mainly talking audio files; i will mainly put the transcript since tumblr won't allow more than 10, but if you want to listen to them by themselves you can either look them up on yt or download them from here! (another premise: some audios are numbered by chapter, but as you might know bully was initially meant to be 6 chapters + endless summer instead of 5 + 1, the sixth chapter beginning with jimmy being expelled)
first thing first, we do know that mandy a.has a thing for johnny (she mentions him 4 times in her audios:
Mandy_CHATTER_v6: mmmh… johnny vincent is kinda cute. why is he with that tramp lola?
Mandy_CONVG_v3: can you believe lola? i bet she's been with at least half the boys of the school just to make johnny jealous.
Mandy_CONVG3_v1: lola's got johnny all wound up the poor guy. he should forget about that tramp and try out for the football team!
Mandy_CONVQP_v1: have you ever wondered what it'd be like to make out with johnny vincent?
and that b.she has a certain rivalry with lola, which includes but is not limited to johnny's attention. there's also this quite interesting conversation bw mandy and lola, that was supposed to play during complete mayhem but got deleted just like all the content we'll discuss from here on:
Lola_6-02_023_v1: shut up, you jealous bitch!
Lola_6-02_023_v2: so what? he didn't have your name on him, did he?
Mandy_6-02_024_v1: who do you think you are?
Mandy_6-02_024_v2: i can't believe you used to be my friend!
(him, imo, v probably johnny)
which isn't a lot; after all, johnny doesn't mention mandy even once in his audios, expressing far more of an obsessions towards lola
now; also during complete mayhem, though, there was supposed to be this v interesting conversation between johnny and jimmy:
Johnny_6-02_036A_v1: jimmy, y-you saw us! please don't tell lola!
Jimmy_6-02_036c_v1: on one condition: you get your crew to stop fighting!
Johnny_6-02_036C_v1: anythiing you say, jimmy, just don't tell!
to me this sounds a lot like, gasp!, johnny was caught cheating on her. or just being with someone else - i want to remind you that lola claims, in finding johnny vincent, that they broke up; it's questionable whether they got back together once more or if it was for good. even if they were, after all, johnny would have all the reasons not to let lola know he's seeing mandy. if it was mandy this would have a lot more sense
but there's something i think that. really kind of puts the last nail in, being an ambience conversation audio that you could hear during the sixth chapter from none other than vance medici himself:
Vance_CONVG6_v1: someone saw johnny vincent by the football field, i swear!
on the contrary, peanut's chapter six ambience conversation audio tells us that he has no clue where johnny might be or what he might be doing (and then again, we know it's not about finding johnny vincent because that would've been in chapter five):
Peanut_CONVG6_v1: where's johnny? has anybody seen johnny?
so, is this certain? not 100%, but sure there are a lot of pieces coming together in this puzzle imo.
i think the storyline was scrapped because it was far too complex and far too late in the game to be fleshed out nicely. and, i mean, the choice itself is right. but i think the situation would've been a nice occasion for character developments of all johnny, lola and mandy, plus an occasion to see them all interact, since their pop culture and analysis from a "media archetypes" perspective so to say is a thing that interests me a great deal
