being  the  youngest  came  with  many  privileges,  which  ophelia  learned  early  on  (  she  is  the  younger  sister  of  ivy’s  muse  rosa  btw  ).  ophelia  witnessed  her  parents  scrutinize  her  older  sister  and  hold  her  to  high  standards,  but  when  it  came  to  ophelia,  these  standards  did  not  apply.  she  was  their  baby,  and  being  quite  a  few  years  younger  than  rosa,  they  had  softened  over  time

ophelia  looked  up  to  her  sister  in  many  ways,  so  although  her  parents  did  not  expect  the  world  of  her  like  they  did  of  rosa,  she  expected  it  from  herself.  she  did  not  want  to  grow  up  in  her  sisters  shadow,  rather,  she  wanted  them  to  be  seen  as  equals,  so  she  worked  hard  to  be  deserving

she  spent  her  summers  with  her  grandparents.  they  were  the  traditional  type,  and  did  not  baby  ophelia  the  same  way  her  parents  did.  they  instilled  in  her  a  work  ethic  that  allowed  her  to  succeed

she  took  after  her  grandmother  and  picked  up  piano  at  a  young  age  and,  with  the  help  of  private  lessons,  she  taught  her  everything  she  knows.  she  dedicated  herself  to  two  things  only:  her  studies  and  piano

she  went  to  private  school  her  entire  life,  which  gave  her  access  to  the  best  resources  to  become  the  talented  witch  she  is.  however,  this  also  made  her  spoiled,  although  she  does  not  realize  it

her  interest  in  rituals  and  seances  began  during  her  teen  years.  she  liked  that  it  had  a  “darker”  feel  to  it  than  other  types  of  magic.  she  loves  school  and  learning  so  much,  which  is  why  she  wants  to  be  a  scholar

she  is  a  huge  perfectionist.  she  has  high  standards  for  just  about  everything  in  her  life.  bouncing  off  this,  she  can  be  very  picky.  she  also  wants  everything  to  be  done  in  a  particular  way

ophelia  does  not  pay  much  attention  to  romantic  matters.  she  has  never  been  in  a  relationship  and  feels  like  they’re  a  distraction  /  a  waste  of  time.  she  secretly  loves  the  attention  of  someone  liking  her  or  being  obsessed  with  her,  but  she  never  really  returns  the  sentiment

My Lucky Day

For @pillarspromptsweekly fill 97. My Roll for It elements: Edér, modern AU, and meet-cute bc I wouldn’t be me if I passed up the chance to write an Ederity meet-cute. :D

Normally the two o’clock hour was the most boring part of Charity’s shift. Most people were either still at work or just starting to commute home, Not many chose that time slot to pursue pet adoption(or even just looking). Normally at this point she’d be folding scrap paper footballs and seeing how far she could flick them down the counter, or finding an excuse to play with or love on one of the animals the shelter housed.

But not today. Today someone hadn’t properly latched one of the kennels and a certain hyperactive yellow lab had gleefully seized the opportunity to escape. Thus, Charity’s two o’clock hour so far had been spent chasing down chaos incarnate, trying to minimize the mess he made and not having much luck. Of course he fishtailed around a corner, his tail wagging so ferociously it knocked supplies off the shelf. Of course Xoti had forgotten to lock the dog door(again), and he bolted into the yard--straight for the mud puddle in the back corner. Of course she missed trying to grab him on the way back in and wound up chasing a trail of mud all through the shelter. (Thank Eothas the door between the shelter and clinic was too heavy for a year old lab to push open on his own.) She finally cornered the dog in a dead end hallway and bribed him with treats until he was close enough to collar.

“Bad dog,” she scolded, heart not fully in it despite the work ahead of her cleaning up. “You made quite the mess.”

He looked up at her, gave a whining bark, and planted muddy paws against her thigh to put him in better range for head pets.

“Sunny, down,” Charity said, gentle but firm. That was something they were trying to train out of him before he was adopted. “C’mon, you need a bath now.”

She’d swear Sunny’s ears pricked up at the word bath. This dog loved water beyond even his breed’s usual affinity for it. She could almost believe he’d gotten muddy for the express purpose of getting a bath. Charity was less thrilled at how soaked she was about to wind up, but as the one who caught the dog(and the one with no plans after work, which meant it was okay if she went home smelling like wet fur), the duty would fall to her anyway. She might as well get it over with.

It proved every bit the ordeal she was anticipating, but she did get Sunny clean. Still very much the curious puppy--even though they’d walked this hallway a dozen times and she was pretty sure there were no new smells--he pulled every which way as they walked back toward the kennels.

“We really gotta train you, or you’re gonna scare people off,” Chariy muttered, letting go of the leash with one hand to brush damp straggles of hair back toward the sad remains of her ponytail.

Of course Sunny picked that moment to hear something ‘interesting’ and veer sharply toward the door between shelter and clinic. Sharply enough to yank the leash out of her hand.

Not again! she groused to herself as she lunged after him. “Sunny! Sunny, sit!”

Sunny did not sit. Because the door opened from the clinic side and a new person walked in, and what friendly, energetic dog worth his whiskers could resist saying hello to a new friend?

And so roughly fifty pounds of still-damp yellow lab pushed off the floor and slammed into their visitor in the same moment Charity skidded to a mortified halt. Even if he looked well-built enough to take it, this was so not the impression they wanted to give people.

Edér would have been lying if he said he expected his day to include being tackled by a friendly dog. He’d also be lying to say he minded, though it did catch him off-guard.

“I’m so sorry!” a voice gasped from above and to his right--probably the woman he’d briefly glimpsed before being tackled. 

“S’alright,” Edér managed around the enthusiastic tongue bath he was receiving. He brought one hand up to scratch the side of the dog’s face, which earned him a reprieve as the lab leaned into the attention with a pleased groan. “Always nice to make a new friend.”

He looked up just in time to catch her relieved smile. “Must be my lucky day.” Her ears went redder than her hair. “’Cause you’re clearly an animal lover, I mean, not for any other...” She cleared her throat, one hand tugging the end of her frazzled ponytail. “I’m gonna stop talkin’ now.”

“Actually, if you work here, I was lookin’ for some help,” Edér said, starting the reluctant process of scooting out from under the dog.

“Oh, sure,” the redhead nodded as she bent to grab the free end of the leash and started tugging the dog off him. “I’m Charity, by the way. And this fella’s Sunny, both in name and nature.”

“Fittin’,” he chuckled as he got to his feet. He held out his hand to shake. “Edér.”

Charity shook his hand, grip firmer than he expected. “And what can I help you with, Edér?”

“Pickin’ somethin’ up for a friend; antibiotics for her liz- uh, bearded dragon.” He rolled his eyes sheepishly. “She don’t like it when I call ‘im a lizard.”

Charity laughed. “Lotta people with beardies feel that way.” Her brow furrowed.  “Wasn’t there someone at the clinic desk?”

Edér shook his head. “Naw. There s’pposed t’ be?”

“Yeah,” she said with a sigh. “Same person who was s’pposed to lock all the kennels and the dog door out to the yard. I’m tryin’ to give her some time, ‘cause she’s new, but if she doesn’t get a lot less flighty real quick...” She shook her head and tugged the leash. “That’s not important, though. Let’s get you taken care of, then I’ll get Sunny squared away.”

“I can wait if you wanna do that first,” he offered, slipping his hands in his pockets. He wasn’t in any particular hurry.

“No, it’s okay,” Charity said quickly. “If you’re just pickin’ something up it shouldn’t take long.” Both of them looked down as Sunny bumped his nose against Edér’s knee. “‘Sides, he likes you, if I take him away now, he’ll pout the rest of the day an’ that’s no fun.”

“Alright, then, if you don’t mind...” Edér shrugged, which made her smile. It was a good smile. He pushed open the swinging door back to the clinic. “After you.”

Charity bit back the temptation to make some corny comment about him being a gentleman and simply nodded her thanks as she headed through the doorway. She could feel a fresh wave of blush rising to color her ears--and probably the back of her neck--even so. Maybe he wouldn’t notice. Maybe if he did she could pass off her embarrassment as due to Sunny’s behavior, not the number of times she’d successfully stuck her foot in her mouth in front of one of the more attractive men she’d met in her life. If the ‘lucky day’ comment wasn’t bad enough, the speed with which she’d insisted on helping Edér before she re-kenneled Sunny had done no favors. 

Just as he’d said, there was no sign of Xoti behind the clinic counter, even though her shift went til four. She hadn’t even left a note this time.

Charity pushed aside the embarrassment--and grumbling thoughts toward her coworker--and flashed Edér another smile as she stepped around the counter.  “So, what’re you pickin’ up?” She closed the waist-high door and slipped the leash around the handle so she had both hands free and Sunny was still semi-corralled.

“Antibiotics,” he reminded her, leaning against the counter with a crooked smile of his own.

She wanted to smack herself; he’d already told her that. “Right, right. Name?”

He cocked his head. “Would it be under the pet or the owner?”

“Owner.”

“That does make sense. Illani. Tavi Illani.”

The name rang a bell. “Oh, yeah. Dragon’s Quaro, right?” Charity asked as she started thumbing through the filled prescriptions. “She had him in a couple days ago and Doc Drake had to back order the meds.” Illani, there you are. She tugged out the small, crinkly bag and set it on the counter. “Here we go. And Dr. Drake is sorry for the delay and hopes Quaro feels better soon.” 

Edér raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Technically she didn’t tell me that, but” --Charity shrugged-- “ain’t hard math to figure out she would.” She played with the patient information tag stapled to the prescription to give her hands something to do. Which worked for all of five seconds before she happened to read the address. “Wait, wait, wait. Tavi lives in Yenwood?! Don’t they have any vets down there?”

Edér laughed. “None who--to quote her--’know a solitary fuckin’ thing’ about bearded dragons.” He leaned closer and whispered almost conspiratorially “I think she’s just tryin’ to justify drivin’ an hour each way to bring him to the same vet she’s used since he was this big.” He held up his thumb and index finger three or four inches apart. 

Charity giggled. “No shame in that; lotsa people try to stick with the same vet, for the sense of familiarity. ‘Specially if their pet likes that vet.” She braced her elbow against the counter and rested her chin in her hand. “”What about you? Assumin’ you also live in Yenwood, this is some favor. You two must be real good friends.”

Subtle, Char, a little voice in her head said dryly. Just ask the man if he’s single and get it over with.

“She’s one of my best,” he confirmed with another crooked smile. Sweet Eothas, it wasn’t fair. “But I was comin’ this way for work, so it ain’t that much much of an inconvenience. Speakin’ of...” He glanced at the wall clock. “I need to get goin’. Ain’t in a rush, exactly, but probably shouldn’t dawdle.”

She grinned. “Or the boss man’ll chew ya out?” 

“Nah, that ain’t a risk,” Edér shook his head, still smiling. “‘Cause you’re lookin’ at him. Still wanna make a good impression an’ keep customers happy, so...” He picked up the prescription and tapped the bag against the counter. “You need anything from me?”

Your phone number. Charity just barely swallowed the wards before they tumbled out her mouth. “Uh, no, it looks like, um, Tavi prepaid for it when she had Quaro in. So we’re good.”

Sunny pawed her leg and whined.

Charity patted the dog’s head to settle him. “And let me apologize again for this goober. He’s just over-eager to meet new people.”

Edér leaned across the counter to scratch Sunny’s ears. “No harm done. Like I said, always nice to make a new friend.” He met her gaze and winked. “Or two.”

Was she blushing? She had to be blushing. “Always happy to meet a fellow animal lover.”

He laughed. “Thanks for the help, Charity.”

“You are very welcome, Edér,” she laughed back. “Have a good day.”

He nodded as he straightened. “You, too.”

Charity watched him go, tried to read the writing on the door of his truck(purely general curiosity, definitely not looking for a phone number), but he’d parked too far away. She looked down at Sunny, who met her gaze and panted happily.  “Alright, your turn. Let’s get you back where you belong.”

Xoti picked that moment to get back from... wherever she’d been. At least she had the decency to wince when she saw Charity doing her job. “Sorry, Char.”

“What was it this time?” Charity asked, fixing her ponytail before she wrapped the leash around her hand to keep Sunny close.

“Door on the Ladies got stuck again,” Xoti said, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. “Doc really needs t’ fix that.”

“Leave a note on her desk, I’m sure she’ll bump it up the list,” Charity said. She tugged Sunny’s leash as she swung open the half-door to head back toward the shelter side. “Hell, if it’s real bad, maybe she’ll call someone soon as she gets back.”

“Kay.” Xoti hesitated, bit her lip. “There weren’t any trouble, was there? ‘Cause I really didn’t expect that to take more’n a minute or I’da let you know.”

Charity smiled to herself as she glanced toward the paring lot--empty now, of course. “Nope. No trouble at all.”

The clock read 3:05 as she led Sunny back to his kennel. She tried to convince herself the smile she wasn’t trying all that hard to fight was relief for the non-boring two o’clock hour for once. Given that she couldn’t stop picturing blond hair and blue eyes that crinkled at the corners when he smiled, it didn’t really work.

Her lucky day, indeed.

So yeah hey see who had this on her laptop for almost a month and forgot to post it... So here you go, boo. @mysticalkpopper

You hear the rain pouring outside. Great.. really great, it's raining... What am I gonna do now? You'd planned to meet with your best friend Namjoon to have a BBQ. His little brother Jungkook and his best friend Taehyung also wanted to join you. But the guys were whining about the rain and cancelled it. Now you're just sitting in your living room, starring out of the window and whining yourself.. You let out a deep sigh and fall onto your sofa. You closed your eyes and think about that party you read about on a flyer. Initially you didn't wanted to go but it's your best option at this point. At least something you could look forward to. You decided to call your sister, maybe she has some time to come over. You dial her number: "Dawon?"

"Hey Hoseok, what's up?" "The guys cancelled and now I'm bored... Wanna come over?" "Sorry, but no I have to work the late shift today.. " "How come? You never have the late shift, unless..." "Bingo. My coworker bailed out because he wanted to go to a stupid party." "I actually thought of going to on myself..." "Mh ok, have fun then. Listen I have to go back to work but tomorrow I'll come over ok?" "Sure, see ya." "Bye." Dawon ended the call and you put your phone back on the coffee table. Another deep sigh leaves your mouth. You get up and drag yourself into the bathroom. A hot shower is probably the right thing with that unpleasant weather. After you finished you waddle to your bedroom. Still naked you stay in front of your closet. The hell should I wear? I have just too many clothes.. Yikes. Ripped jeans, a green button shirt and your new Balenciaga shoes probably will do it. It was still pretty early so you just put on your clothes and sat back down on your sofa. You scrolled through social media when you get a text from Namjoon.

"Hey Hobi what are you doing?" "Nothing really. I dressed up and think of going to that big party later. U?" "I went to a friend because he wanted my advice on his clothes. Guess he wants to go to the same party. But his type of clothes really aren't my style so I cant really say anything...." "Haha need my help?" "Technically yes but I can't just take pictures of him and send them to you.." "I mean TECHNICALLY you could." "Hobi you know I don't do stuff like that!" "Yeah yeah I get it. Then have fun playing dress up." "Thanks...."

Pfft.. Joon can play dress up with someone but won't grill a fucking steak with me. Guess I have to life with a fake ass bitch as my best friend. AND then he doesn't even send me pictures of that boy. Like come on maybe he has a cute ass.. I WANNA SEE!!!! Damn lucky noone can read your mind.. Your dramatic ass would be so embarrassed.

You take a look on your watch. In a while you could start walking to the location. You would still be one of the first there but then you can get a seat at the bar. You went into the bathroom to put on light make up and check yourself out for the last time. Grabbing your wallet, phone and keys you leave your apartment. You let google maps guide you too your destination and to your suprise there already is a queue. Nontheless you didn't have to wait long. You show your ID to the bouncer and get to enter the club. The room is huge and just a few people stand there in groups and are talking. The music isn't really loud yet so the atmosphere is rather relaxed. Just as planned you got a seat at the bar. You settled in and ordered a beer. After your third beer the club was pretty full, all those people were enjoying themselfs but you sat there alone. You started regretting coming on your own but after today you didn't wanted to mope anymore. Hesitantly you scoot down from the bar stool and make your way to the dance floor. As you start moving with the rhythm you feel you're in your element and lose yourself in the music. You don't even know for how long you danced when your bladder practicly screams at you. You drank six beer by now and your tolernace isn't high at all so you're pretty dizzy and waver to the restroom. Once you're there you look in the mirror. "Wow I look tousled." "Nah, you look pretty cute." A guy you didn't know showed up behind you and playfully slapped your ass while winking at you. He scared the shit out of you and you almost wet yourself. At the pissoir you bump into the guy next to you and murmer a 'Sorry' to him while making eye contact but your eyes didn't stay up there. They wander down to his dick. Mh not bad. Maybe a little small but definitly average.. I could make that work! The dude next to you eyes you. He's clearly uncomfortable with you checking him out BUT you couldn't care less right now. Finally relieved you go and wash your hand. You leave the restroom but not without checking yourself out a last time and fixing your hair. You decide it's better to take it slow so you return to the bar, take a seat again and order a glass of water to clear your mind. Moments later the barkeeper gives you your water and presents you 2 shots along side. "I DIDN'T ORDER SHOTS!" The bartender points to the other side of the bar. You follow his direction and see a young woman. Your eyes meet and she smiles gently at you. Not knowing what you should do you nod to her in appreciation and take a sip of your water. You listen to the music for a while but nothing they're playing at the moment sounds familiar to you. Suddenly you feel a hand on your shoulder, as you turn around it's the pretty girl. After  months  of  searching  I finally  got  an  interview  at  Canes. My  first  interview  didn't  so  well  I  was  really  confident  but  didn't  speak  loud   enough which  was   the  problem..   My  classmate Devin, who  worked   there  got  me  another   interview. This   time  it  was  with  another   manager  Katie, I felt   confident  but  this  time  I  made  sure  to  speak  up. The   day  after   Devin  comes   to  speak  to  me  and  tells  me  that  I   got hired. Finally,    my  first  job  was  at  Raising  Canes  because it  was  the  perfect  place  for  me. It  was  next  to my  school  and  with  great  hours 4-12  on  friday  and  4-10  on  saturday.  I  worked   the front counter and  drive  thru. Front  counter  was  my  element  I  felt  comfortable  there  since  I  was  able  to  talk  to  customers while,  drive  thru  I  sucked  at   it. I  prefer   talking  to  people  when  I  could  see them  not  with  a  headset. My biggest  problem  is  trying  to  multitask  in  a   fast  period  of time. Plus  the  system   didn't  work  so  well  so  I struggled  more  when   I  couldn't  hear  the  orders. After  2  weeks  of  trying  to  be  decent  at  it   we  all  gave  up. I  wanted  to  get  better  at  it  but  it  was  just   easier   to  move  on. Since  I  wasn't  good  at  drive   thru  the  manger  hated   me .  But  after  a couple months  I  didn’t  enjoy  working  there  my  hours  got  cut  and  my  bosses  hatred  increased.  I  only  stayed  at  that  job   because  on  Fridays  id  get   girls  numbers.  It  was  basically getting  paid  to  talk  to  girls   because  at  the   time  I  wasn't   good  at   it. Katie  was  fun  and  we  would  talk about  fighting  each  other  and  she  loved  embarrassing me  in front  of  girls.  Kat  and   I  would  joke  about  her  not  being  my  boss  and  my  reactions  when  we  would  count  money  together.    After  months  of  looking  I  got  a  text  from  my  current  boss  telling  me  that  I  got  the  job  right  when  summer  started.  I  was   happy  to  get a  new  job  because  I  didn't  want  to  quit  I  wanted  to  be  fired. Normally  people  find  being  let  go  from  their  job  a  bad  thing  but  I  found  out  that Matt  doesn't  like  firing  people. His  goal  was  to  make  me  quit  and  my  pride  wouldn’t  let  him  win. Shifts  at  Canes  feel  like  a  long  time where  Bahama goes  by  fast.   After  getting  the  new  job.I  was  so  happy  and  after  training  I wasn't  good  at  anything.  From  making  snow cones  to  working  the  register. Since I  sucked  at everything  I wasn't  very  well liked.  I  had  a  manager  named  Regan,  that  was  really  nice  but  really  annoying  so  she  made  me  extremely  nervous  and  it  made  me worse. People  didn't  really  like  working  with  her  and  I  always  got  scheduled  with  her.  When  she  went   back  to  college  everyone  was  happy especially me.   Eventually the  more  I  worked  the  better  I  got.  I  went  from  making  the  worst  snow cones  that  looked  deformed  to  perfect   ones.  As  the  summer  ended  and  the  people  I  didn’t   like  left   I  started  to  enjoy  my  job. I  went  to  everyone's  least  favorite  to  favorite.  I  got  excited  to   work  because  it  became  fun. Less  people  came  in   so  we  got  goof   around  and  found  ways  to entertain ourselves from  throwing  snowballs  at  targets and whatever  came  to  our  mind.  At the  store  I  have  coworkers  that  I  can   tell  them  anything, Whether  it's  whatever   going  on  in  my  life  at  the  moment,  or  if  i'm going  through something . Since ever one  was   in   high  school  and  I  was  able  to  open  instead  of  closing.  The  opening  shift  is  the  best  shift  because  no  one  comes  in and  I  get  to  chill  and  do  homework. After  a  while  I  ended  up  doing  everything  for  the  store  if  I'm not  there  we  run  out of  stuff.  I'm basically   a  manager  to  the  store  so  I'm incharge  of  telling  the  owner  what  we  don't  have  and  dealing  with  problems.   I  never  thought  I  would  have a  job  I  enjoyed  so  much. From  not  always  having  to  put  on  a  uniform  when  the  weather  is  cold  and  being  able  to  wear  a  durag. The  special  perks  I  get  from the  morning  shift  of  weekdays  is  that I  can  watch  Netflix  or  YouTube  on  the  big  tvs  at   work. But  what  I  like about  my  job  is  putting   smiles on  kids  faces. Their  faces  light  up  when  they  see  how  it's  made and  especially  when they  get  an  umbrella  with  their  favorite  color.  Or  meeting  new  people  and  finding  out  their  backstory  and  how  their  day  was.   A  bonus  of  working  there  is  that  sometimes  Maddi,  my  best  friend  would  come  visit me and  me  being  a  manager  I  get  to hook  her  up.

                  My  favorite  part about   my  job  is  my  coworkers. There is   clay,  He’s  a really  tall   17  year  old. When  I  work  with  him  we  goof  around  and  he’s always  putting  me  on  to cool shows. Then  Lauren, sometimes  she  can  be  annoying  especially  when  her  friends  come  in, but  she’s  cool  we  yell  at  each  other  to  see  who  can  scream  louder.  The  thing  I  like  about  her  is  the  fact  she  will organize  the store  with  me which  makes  my  job  easier. Now Sofia, she  hated  me  when  I  first   started  I  always  worked  with  her when  I   was  terrible. It's  ironic  that  she  hated  me  since  she  was  my  favorite  person to  work  with. I  just  liked  her  personality  plus  she  always  got  hurt  which  was  funny. Now  I'm her  second  favorite  person  there  but   recently  I  haven't  been  working  with  her. We  used  to  have  a  girl  named  Mattie,  or  Matson  as  I  called  her  because  it  her  birth  name. She  was  everyone's  favorite  mine  included. Her  and  I  playfully  fought  all  the  time. Her  and  I  had  a joke  that  if  we  were  in  a  horror  movie  she would   die  first.Im  protective  of  her cause  she  always  meets  the  creepiest  guy  hence  why  she  would  die  first.  Every time  she would  have  an encounter with  a  creepy  old  dude  she would  tell  stories  about  it.   I  felt  closer  to  her  than   anyone  else  because  I  know  some  of  her  friends  in fact  I've  had  a  thing  with   3  of  them  plus  her  ex  was  my best friend’s little  brother. I  got  sad  when  she  left  to  work  at  a  vet  but  she  might  come  back  fingers  crossed.  Now  Ava  is  like  my  little  sister  we  got  a  secret  handshake  and  everything. I tease  her  all  the  time  by  saying  she's 12. she’s  the  person  I  talk  to all  the  time  if  its  about  girls  or  school. I  call her  the  mean  version  of  one  of  my  best friends  Maddi,  both  of  them  give off  mom  vibes  and  I  go  to  them  first  when  I'm going  through  something I  love  how  she's  childish  yet  mature. We used  to  have  a  guy  named  Sterling, Mattie  was  the  reason  he  got  hired  since  they  were  friends.  He  was  a  model  and   an actor  so  that  made  him  cool  to  me  because  I  wanted  to  do  those things. He  was  my  work  best  friend. His  personality  was  goofy  and  funny  we  instantly  connected.  He  would  give  me  advice  on  girls and  other stuff.  He  hated  when  I leave  work  and when  I  wasn't  working  he  wouldn't  have  as  much  fun. Sadly  he  quit  out  of  the blue  his  original  plan  was  to  get  the   first  check  then  leave  but  after  a  month  of  being  there  I  though  his  plans  changed. Once  he  left  work  got  boring  for  a  bit  but  within  his  absence  I  became  closer  to  clay.  Usually  at  jobs  when  you  see  someone   you  work  with  you try  to  avoid  them. But  With  morning  shifts  I  can't  wait  for  the  next  person  to  arrive.  The cool  part  of  my  job  is  even  when  im  not  working  and  I   wanna  hangout  I see  whos  working  and  pop  up. With  all  the  pros  with  my  job  there are cons  too. My  boss  Melissa,  is  the  biggest  one.  I admire  her  for  being  able  to  own  multiple  stores  after  selling  snow cones  at  Minute  Maid  park  during baseball season.  But  she’s  a  terrible store  owner  if  you  were  to  look  at  the  review  most  of  them  are  about  poor  management. Her  refusal  to  restock  products  like  spoons.  The biggest  complaint for  customers   is  the lack  of   sugar  free  flavors since  we  have  been  out for  months.  I  wish  there  was  a  sight  where  you  rate  your  boss like  in college  and  you  rate  your  teachers.  The employees  biggest  complaint  is  her  taking  away  our  tips. She took $50  worth  of  it   over  whip cream  being  in  the  freezer  which  I  got  blamed for.  That  made  me  mad  especially  when  she  didn't  apologize  when  we  found  out  the  delivery  people  put  it  there.  I prefer  working  for   her  rather  than  Matt. Mostly  because  of  her  parents, especially  her  father  Alfred, He’s  a  weird  old  man  with  a  hearing  problem  but  he is  extremely  handy. When  something  doesn't  work  and  I'm having  trouble  I  call on him. His wife  I  call  Mrs.Alfred  is  extremely  nice  I've only  met  her  once  and  she  helped  me  clean. Sometimes  I  wonder  how  her  parents are  really  nice  but  their  daughter  takes  advantage  of  teenagers. 

                 But working  for  her has  made  me  realize  that  this  place is  gonna  help  me  with  advertising. Since we  sell snow cones and the weather gets cold you have to find ways to get people inside. My idea was to make a sign and do funny dances in the street. Did I look dumb? yes. Did drivers make fun of me? yes. But it worked we went from no customers to  a bunch. Working here I also learned that if you want to open a business make sure it’s a place where people can see. That helps if I ever want to own my own firm. Most importantly how to make something look appealing for example. We have a flavor called galaxy at it taste bad but we made it look like an infinity gauntlet since Endgame had just came out on dvd and for a slogan I put you'll love it 3000 it’s inevitable since Iron man and  Thanos said it. 

                I have grown a lot since I started working at Bahama Bucks. I started taking on more responsibilities and improved my problem solving skills. This job has given me transferable skills with public speaking and much more. Plan is to be employed till next summer when I transfer to New York. When I leave this job I hope to find one as fun as this one.

Can't afford Health Insurance...?

I'm looking for advice...and hopefully someone to tell me that I'm not screwed. My boss graciously offered to find group insurance for all of her employees and she is willing to pay 50% of the premiums. The problem is that she went with the most expensive plan on the market (that I've seen) and I simply can't afford it. The premium is $340 a month, so I'd be paying $170 which isn't bad...but the copays are at least +20% on everything and doctor visits range from $35 to $55 a visit, so I wouldn't be able to afford to use my health coverage often. It also doesn't include dental, which is what I really wanted/needed. I am 21 years old (and all of my coworkers are in their 20s), so I don't really understand why the payments are so high. I'm right in the midst of paying off student loans, I don't get paid very much, and I was hoping to start saving money to purchase a car and be able to go back to school. I was going to use my income tax return as a down payment on a car, but if I opt out of healthcare this year at least a fourth of that return will be taken as the fine imposed to coerce people to sign up for the Affordable Care Act.
