Oh how I love occupational medicine... So many laws, so many insurance providers, and, of course, my all time favourite:
the Jugendarbeitsschutzuntersuchungsverordnung
aka the ordinance on health check-ups of juvenile workers before entering an occupation

To feel anything
deranges you. To be seen
feeling anything strips you
naked. In the grip of it
pleasure or pain doesn’t
matter. You think what
will they do what new
power will they acquire if
they see me naked like
this. If they see you
feeling. You have no idea
what. It’s not about them.
To be seen is the penalty.
i was just looking for some anne carson quotes and i saw this and this just screams lena to me

One Last Magic
Emmy curled up on her bed, taking her warm drink in both hands. The warm steam of the chamomile tea fleetingly caressed her soft cheek before spiraling away out the open window. Emmy watched it disappear into the cold, winter night with a small smile. Her head dipped as joyful memories overwhelmed her--Waiting up at night, stretching her little body out the doorframe as she desperately tried to hear the telltale thud of boots in the hall. Christmas morning, taking the steps two at a time in order to be the first to lay eyes on the new gifts, wondering when they had appeared under the glimmering tree.
However, such days were long past. It had been many years since she last believed in the ancient Santa Clause who circled the earth in a single night. The mystical man had been unmasked, behind it a pair of smiling parents. The winter day still filled her with happiness, but that special magic had seeped between her fingers, leaving in it's place nostalgia for her childhood naïvety.
As she prepared to take her final step into adulthood, Emmy felt more and more desperate for that magic. Just one last time she wanted to wonder if a jolly, red-clothed man would slip down her chimney and eat her cookies, or whether a rabbit would litter her yard with chocolate eggs. But try as she might, the child sized stories no longer fit her.
Emmy sighed into her drink, now cold from the winter chill, and placed it on the floor. She pulled up her blankets and created a warm comfortable den of knitted afghans and floral comforters. Having not bothered to close the window, she watched the broiling clouds through heavy lids. At least she could still enjoy fresh fallen snow.
A cold breeze breathed across her exposed face and with a squeak she plunged into the blankets. That is if old man winter doesn't get me first!
Out in the black night, stars began to fall from the clouds, their whispered landing hushing the ground in a white embrace. A lone figure skipped in the wind, spreading a chill across gardens, ran gutters, and draping tree limbs. He paused at an open window, peering in on a child tucked away safely in her blankets. Chuckling softly, the frosty boy reach a pale hand in and closed the window, locking it with a sheet of laced ice. He then went on his way, leaving her to wake up to a land of white, glimmering magic.
YOU HAD TO SEE THIS COMING COME ON EMMY OMG I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS ALSO THIS IS THE FLUFFIEST THING I'VE EVER WRITTEN IT'S SO LUDICROUS I LOVE YOU
