Hiii!! I saw your tags on the video I shared and by watching the video I also remembered how stupid and loveable druck boy squad was!!! I truly miss the days when we were watching the og druck generation…the boy squad’s talk did not make sense half the time and they were so funny but nice too. they had their weird and original dynamic. it was just a whole other feeling following the og gen both watching it and being on here while watching it

right? Watching og gen of druck was something else. I remember all of it so well. I remember Hanna's season and the awkward wait are we canceled already in like week 3 when the hiatus happened? I remember crying when they broke up and crying when Hanna and Leonie talked. I remember watching Mia's season while I was still on Erasmus. I remember how we were constantly impressed by the cinematography. I remember people gradually starting to like Alex to their own surprise since they hate Wilhelm. I remember how they changed Jonas x Hanna's story in s2 where he was the one to be messed up by the break up. I remember the first appearance of beanie boy. And I remember the week between s2 and s3 when the theories were running wild. I remember how we've all fallen into Matteo's season, for the boy squad (fucking Kathete discussion?) how we've fallen for beanie boy David. I remember the epic highs and epic lows. I remember how much we were all discussing and analysing and criticising every single clip. I remember how quickly we started calling the boy squad the one braincell squad and how we started calling ourselves clowns. I remember how much we were rooting for Jonas and Hanna to get back together goddammit. I remember how hurt we all felt when the David outing happened. But I also remember the epic high of the last episode of Matteo's season. I remember when in Ich check' Frauen nicht the one braincell squad has reached its peak stupidity. Truly the most stupid boys and yet so so so lovable. All of them. I remember how we all thought it's over but then the insta content just kept coming and coming and they kept posting days after and then we got the special and learned about the existence of Stefan and how much we instantly hated him because he's come between our Hanna and Jonas. I remember how we were all convinced that Essam was nonbinary because of his insta bio. How we were thinking everyone is queer the second they appeared. And then we got Amira's season and I remember how we've fallen for Mohammed instantly. I remember how much we were loving Amira's summer season and were gushing over her beauty, how we loved the changes they made to the storyline while also still criticizing it some things. And I remember how quickly Amira's season was over and then Druck did the worst decision ever and has the two episodes dedicated to Mia and Hanna and how angry we were and how we were boycotting Mia's episode completely (I actually still haven't seen it) and decided to have Amira's appreciation weeks instead. But by the time Hanna's episode came about we've come to somewhat accept it and thought we might at least get some Hanna x Jonas reunion out of it. How we all expected the stolen nose to make a comeback and how much we were happy when it did. I remember the last week where the speculation of what comes next were at it's wildest. I remember Lukas' instagram posts and tweets adding to the confusion. And I remember the fan event of course. Meeting our awkward druck gang. The bis bald message only adding to our confusion. Seeing the cast few meters from me. How the first question asked by the audience was immediately why the fuck would you make Amira's season shorter?  How I almost missed my bus back because I was still standing in line to meet the cast. Theo ending up in my photo with Lukas and the others lol. I remember Hussein having a One Piece tshirt and how excited I was about that. Oh the epic high of that evening even as we were all angry about Amira's season being short still.  I just I remember it all. I don't participate in fandoms often because most of the time the fandoms are not like that. Most of the time, I don't feel like I know everyone in the fandom. I don't feel like people want to have actual discussions about the topics the shows bringing up. Most fandoms I feel don't have that proper communal feeling I only got from skam's s3 and start of s4 and from druck's fandom during the og gen.

Sorry this is just a wall of text. I just have such fond memories of the time.

This is another portrait that I painted for visual arts class. I found it much less challenging and stressful than the portrait of Matteo, partly because I used oil from the start and had already gotten more used to the medium. Thank you to the experienced @caramelartgallery for letting me use her materials once again, and for her occasional advice. Swipe through for the process.

I started on May 24th and finished on Friday, intending to post it no later than today, which marks exactly one year since the final clip of the DRUCK Abispecial (or season 4 episode 1). Matteo gave Amira the tiara that he won as part of the Abiball couple, and with it his point of view, saying that it looks much better on her. After a tip of the flat cap, he walked off-screen, and we were finally in Amira’s perspective. This is also the clip in which Mohammed appeared on screen for the first time. All this, of course, happened at the Abiball, so to all those who are upset by the cancellation of celebrations relating to graduation this year, I'm sorry, and I hope that you can still find a way to celebrate this milestone if it is important to you 🙂💝

What's your favorite version of every skam couple/season? (and why, if you're okay with explaining)

This is an interesting question! Although, I have to confess, I have never really paid much attention to the first season of any Skam adaptation besides the original because I found it a bit boring? So this will just cover the other seasons/couples/characters. 

Edoardo and Eleonora, to me, are the best execution of both the Noorhelm plot line and that relationship in general. I realize a lot of people kind of thrive on the toxicity inherent to the original relationship, and that’s their prerogative, but the consistent theme of communication between Edoardo and Eleonora really called to me. Even at their worst, they were communicating, and that’s what a relationship should entail, ultimately. I also think their season just went really ham on the cinematic parallels and atmosphere, which gave it an added edge over the other adaptations (although I thought Druck did very nicely in this regard, too). Edoardo is also my favorite William because there’s a level of maturity, care, and intent he exerts that I sometimes see the other adaptations lacking in; he’s like the best of what Senne and Alexander respectively have to offer, but combined. (Also, speaking of Senne, he and Zoë are a very close second for me.) 

I think most people would agree Lucas and Elliot are the best adaptation of Evak? Not that any of these adaptations is without its share of tragedy and yearning, but there was just an artistry that really pulled their arc together, and I think it helps that of all of the adaptations, they’re the ones we get to see as a couple the most. Lucas’s protectiveness, Elliot’s constant willingness to help others in a position similar to his own, and how those two things have to balance each other out. It’s very endearing to see them grow and change through their relationship with each other. And of course, the added bonus of Lucas being a casual musician while Elliot is into art work is really nice and seeing how being privy to those parts of each other brought out their respective feelings was really wonderful. 

I don’t know if anyone quite cares about this ship, but in terms of adaptations of Vilde and Magnus’s relationship, I have two favorites. I like Daphne and Basile in terms of how they are while they’re in the relationship, acting as this sort of supportive unit for each other, as opposed to Basile’s incessant pestering and fantasizing over her beforehand, which came across as pretty distasteful. I’m not sure why it’s something the writers even emphasized upon when their eventual intent was to show that Basile is a kind and caring person who constantly worries about the people he loves. He could have garnered Daphne’s interest just by being himself, and seeing him in the last season was especially wonderful, because we saw how that inclination towards caring for others even extended to strangers (Lola). In terms of actually getting into the relationship, I definitely prefer Viri and Hugo. It was sweet to see Hugo sort of quietly pine for her and struggle with liking her while not necessarily understanding her values or interests, and I like that Viri stood up for herself regardless of that. The way they got to know each other better just through casual, charged conversations was really adorable, especially because we got to see Hugo sort of uncover who Viri really is as a person because very few people have bothered to look beneath her layers. 

As for Sana and Yousef, it’s another tie, at least so far. Amira and Mohammed’s relationship is so, so adorable, and it’s only a shame that they got so few episodes to themselves, perhaps because there was really no “drama” between them other than their temporary “disconnect” in terms of values. Their chemistry was absolutely infectious, and I think more than any other rendition of the couple, they really gave off that vibe of already being married in spirit what with the way they bantered. I think it’s an immense talent to be able to channel that level of shared chemistry without necessarily “doing” anything intimate, and they excelled at it. Similarly, Amira and Dani have really surprised me with their chemistry this season of España! I was kind of doubtful as to how a Muslim/Non-Muslim romance would go, given how horribly these relationships tend to be portrayed in Western media, but their rendition is genuinely refreshing and relieving. Dani is such an avid listener and that he encourages Amira to be confident in her identity really warms my heart. Also, the way these two look at each other! I don’t know if it’s unpopular to say, but I think they have the best chemistry of any España couple, personally. If all goes well, they may come out on top for me. We’ll see. ;)
