Here’s the thing that makes no sense about the Louis hates One Direction narrative that solos try to purport: Not does Louis include two 1D songs in his setlist when he now has a catalog that could easily fill a setlist without them, but he sat down with his music director and REARRANGED THEM to fit his solo style, from the vocals to the instrumentals.
That takes a lot of thought and effort like those arrangements of Night Changes and WDBHG just didn’t appear, you know? And while Night Changes was a single known to the general public, WDBHG was not. That was Louis thoughtfully looking at their catalog and being like this one (not even written by him) is a banger. I want it in my show.
No amount of wearing or not wearing a hat will change that, especially when it’s not in his show style to put things on, ESPECIALLY when we ALL KNOW how vain he is when it comes to his hair.
One band One dream ONE DIRECTION. THE END.

i think there's an interesting connective thread between sarah snook saying she thinks shiv just reads whatever's currently popular and got people talking ("everyone's reading this? all right, fine."), and alan ruck saying he thinks connor only reads books that are very old and considered classics - that way he doesn't have to decide if it has literary merit, because everyone else has already decided it's a seminal work. like, it takes them in the opposite direction when looking for materials, but in both cases they're being driven by a desire to not have to have original artistic tastes or opinions and just defer to someone else's judgements. which is just so telling?
shiv can be a bit of a black sheep politically, but she arrived there by just trying to define herself in opposition to her family; it's an indirect way of having someone else decide for you to keep trying to do the opposite of what's expected. it requires little in the way of genuine beliefs, which is why she flips very easily when it's convenient. connor meanwhile just wants any scrap of attention he can get, which is why he brings up random trivia or collects bizarre historical items. he likes to be able to just say or have something that gets people's attention, without having to provide any real explanation or show understanding. and i think it's interesting how that carries over into things like entertainment or art - the lack of self conception makes it hard to do things like pick up a random book you've never heard of because it looks interesting.

Reminder that this is coming up to air in Tokyo Revengers:
Tumblr media
Reminder that this is how this shounen takes the leap and puts a LGBT storyline between two prominent, main-cast characters on screen. A messy storyline about overcoming confusion, letting go of old attachments and facing new feelings that remains relevant through to the end of the story, worked out as any other plot point. Not implied, but expressed in in-story written word and unambiguous visuals.
Again: in a shounen anime.
In a mainstream, dudes-punching-dudes anime series that airs on TV.
Regardless of whether one enjoys Koko and Inui as characters in particular, or the ship in itself, the fact that this happens / is able to happen (god, I hope it's not censored out) is important.
I can't stress enough how rare these things are.
I'm nervous, not gonna lie, these things hardly ever make it on-screen for reasons, but at the same time I trust Liden Films and how much care and respect they've put into Tokyo Revengers so far. Can't wait to see how it goes.

Feels like there needs to be more fics where Corroded Coffin is successful but not fucking. Rockstar levels successful. Successful as in they're well known within their niche and not at all outside of it. Successful as in their early albums are coveted but you're not going to stumble onto them on any mainstream radio station. Successful as in they're doing enough shows on a fairly active circuit that they can quit their day jobs but they can't buy a house off of the profits.

what gets me riled up about Victoria Monet is that she’s been in the game for 15 yrs and they gave her new artist like thats crazy im happy for her but bro what the fuck
The academy has weird standards for what they consider new, I think technically Jaguar II is her first studio album so it's technically her "debut"?? idk I'm just glad she's finally getting some recognition

no literally one of my many pop music roman empires is how natasha bedingfield’s career tanked because her label told her to neglect her success in europe to focus on maintaining popularity in the United states with upbeat feel-good songs like unwritten and pocketful of sunshine which did work! until it didn’t! and then she no longer had her european success to fall back on either!!!! </3

if you want to know how the lines started to blur between YA fantasy and adult bodice-rippers, and how TikTok catalyzed the market shift, look no further than middle-aged women writing Harry Potter fanfiction in the early 2000s

one of my favorite things about apocalypse keys is last session one of my players hit a point where the rules said “one of two bad things happen to your character” and she said “... can both bad things happen?” and i said “you know what? sure!” because it’s the kind of game where even when your characters are in peril, having a bad time, in a bad place, it’s still fun to play, and sometimes when your characters lose, it’s actually more fun than if they’d done perfectly

unless canon disproves it, the earliest i'm willing to accept that izzy met ed is when blackbeard was One Of the greatest pirates of all time, but not yet THE greatest pirate of all time. the earliest izzy met ed is when blackbeard was already a household name but he wasn't like, britain's #1 most wanted. he was tied for britain's #1 most wanted but he wasn't yet the undisputed king of pirates

brother! trust me! i am logging movies on letterboxd you have never even heard of! but if your response to “widely released, successful movies now are way less heartfelt, varied, and technically interesting than they used to be” is just “well you need to be watching smaller movies then” youre missing my point

"Benjamin Netanyahu has been prime minister for longer than other Israeli leaders since the country’s birth in 1948 and is increasingly unpopular, but many of his policies in Gaza and the occupied West Bank enjoy huge Israeli support. The problem in Israel isn’t solely Netanyahu. He’s the symptom of a major larger societal shift. Replacing him with another carbon copy will change little for the millions of Palestinians who live under a brutal military occupation. One possible successor, Benny Gantz, has spent his career proudly promoting the destruction he’s caused in Gaza in previous wars. There’s long been a western obsession with Netanyahu, wrongly believing that he’s the impediment to a more humane "Jewish state". It’s the same mistake recently made by US President Joe Biden and Senate Leader Chuck Schumer, who argued that Netanyahu was blocking any prospect of peace in the region. It’s his belligerence, we’re told, that makes ending the Gaza onslaught impossible. When cautiously questioned by CNN recently, Netanyahu said that he wasn’t some fringe player in Israel but a leader who spoke for many Israelis, pursuing policies in Gaza with broad mainstream backing. He was right, and ignoring this reality doesn’t make it go away."

aphelios using emojis to communicate rather than typing out words ;___; he finds it difficult to say exactly how he’s feeling, especially when so many people are watching the debut of their band. he’s a perfectionist to a fault and doesn’t like for there to be any room for miscommunication or for his words to be construed any other way. it’s much harder for him to put his own thoughts into words, whereas songwriting, his emotions flow freely. as always, though, he’s a bit of a meticulous soul and holds himself to an extremely high standard. his anxiety is something that he’s learning to manage but with so much riding on the success of their group, not just himself but everyone else’s careers that were revitalized by their joint efforts, he’s rather not put himself in a position that could cost the others. so emojis he stays with for the time being. alune likes how they look, anyways.

mind when the worst thing we had to deal with as atl stannies was them signing to FBR and dirty laundry/LYR as a whole sounding so different (or bad) and not them being assholes or whatever the hell is going on now
i yearn for the days that their departure from hopeless records was the worst thing anyone could possibly imagine happening in the atl sphere

I think if we started letting ourselves make weird, whimsical, and dark fantasy movies with killer soundtracks like Labyrinth, Legend, or Neverending Story again, something fundamental would be restored to humanity
