TSCS Season 2 Episode 4

AHHHH okay I know I'm a day late and its thanksgiving and everyone else has already said probably the same things about this episode but i just speed ran the watch through and i also gotta scream about this in a manic FRENZY.

First and more important, the legendary council has just been SLAUGHTERED by the Claus family so far.

Fucking love that Sandy is here! Love this guy, love that he just wanders into places without a care in the world, go off king. LOVE that he's gotten into energy drinks (he's so me coded fr fr).

But keeping MORE secrets from the council? Pulling off an easter switcharoo heists to no one notices anything? Using Sandys dream sand AGAINST HIM???

Now tell me these things aren't just so Jack coded, right? And not worrying about fucking ruining easter because it's not his holiday??? TELL ME these are not things that Jack is capable of doing! Tell me how Scott is somehow being a WORSE council member than Jack right now??? He is the antagonist of this series and he's somehow gotten more and more unlikable, which I thought was impossible. AND YET HERE WE ARE!

Also, easter is such a weird angle to play with for this subplot. Like (and I'm being real biased), we could've gotten a better look at Jacks lore since he's more closely tied to the holiday. Or even more Sandman because of Santa's work during the night. Idk, I just don't understand why Easter out of all the facets we could've played with here.

Speaking of Easter, Carol...UGH CAROL! I appreciate the sentiment and the message you're trying to send to your daughter (and the message the writers are trying to clumsily shoehorn in), but THATS LITERALLY EB'S HOME!! HIS HOME!! YOU BROKE IN STARTED BUSTIN SHIT UP AND YOU THINK YOUR THE GOOD GUYS????

Im so tired...

And of course, they drop in the lore about the amulet right at the very last possible second, so I don't even care about that shit.

But for whatever reason, Mad Santa is somehow being a much better Santa than Scott! He's putting on a show and giving gifts and being fucking cool, and you're telling me he's the enemy? So, what if he was a tyrant at some point, he seems chill now! And his magic is fucking cool as shit.

(Obligatory bitterness about everyone being able to use winter/ice magic/spells so liberally. Just throwing that around for funsies. I just miss my frosty little guy okay. I miss him terribly.)

Also, as a personal aside, Sandman can get nightmares? Nightmares...? 👀👀👀Very very interesting...Being sandman isn't all fun and sheep and dreams is it...? I bet it's not. Not with a certain someone on the loose with access to nightmare magic. Definitely won't be using this for future reference no sir.

I don't have any closing thoughts other than this episode has melted my brain in the worse way possible.

Wow I really have no idea how things could go based off your spoilers which I think is a due to your writing talents and my being a dumb bitch (but I’m usually really good at connecting dots!)

Tooth for tooth: maybe Luke does successfully escape (he’s in the riverlands with what I imagine is the traditional look and maybe moves with an army??) or maybe he’s just under guards and one tried to take liberties?? The No Aemond tag has perplexed me but I’m hoping for some black family bonding. Hoping he sees his mother again and can speak to her before we leave your both tragic and hopeful (lol—he’s alive isn’t he???) world. I’m nervous though esp for my bbygrl nyra. She’s usually a head on a platter by fics end 🥲 (but maybe this is switcharoo!! ~delusion~)

Hand for hand: throw me out with the bath water maybe Aemonds now captive??? But I’m not sure if Luke would go to Aemond if his family could find out considering the shame he feels. Hoping for maybe war stuff but the smut has me stumped and I’m ignoring the most logical answer (Aemond has him again). I feel like that one picture of Charlie day from always Sunny in front of a cork board trying to solve this because I was a chapter 15 escape truther!

See these assumptions are based off if these are equal length fics!! Hand for hand could be a 5 shot for all I know hahahha

But dude lost 3 fingers and an eye and I know your description/tags at one point (not sure if it still does) has a line about how some people only get some of what they deserve and considering how other of your fics ended im kind of hoping (delusionally) for a somewhat hopeful ending (in Luke’s POV — boy probably considers him and Aemond dead a win for him :( )

i'm delighted you're thinking so much about what's to come for Luke. in a lot of places you're close to the outline ;)

right now, for Tooth for Tooth i'm aiming for just four chapters, though they'll be on the longer side. Hand for Hand is definitely the lengthier of the two in terms of what i have planned.

Luke is in a better place than he has been in a while. but that bar is kind of six foot under.

i'm like 90% sure you're the same anon you sent the next ask as well, so i'll continue my answer there (if you're not, my apologies and thank you for the ask! i definitely think there's some things you'll enjoy if i stick to my current outline)

Started watching Mouse and at first I wasn't going to talk about it on tumblr to avoid getting spoiled but i have sooo many thoughts so i'll ramble under the cut ignore me

DO NOT SPOIL ME

Okay so i just finished episode 7 which ends with the mouse and the vague flashes of memory, right?

And i've always found it weird that Yohan would have been abandonned to a family and then picked back up by his mom, like that didn't make sense to me

I was led astray by the mom choking him reveal but like why would she even be there? Was she the wife and she remarried? No we would've heard of the other guy and having 2 other kids? She wouldn't risk it i think

So! Here are my theories as of now and a short explaination for each:

1- yohan's mom did a switcharoo somehow

->supporting evidence : the genetic papers yohan hid (i think it was proof he's not the killer's kid), the mom's weird looks at Bareum (could be just like 'damn my kid almost killed that guy but i doubt), the weird flashes of the mouse thing

I think the mom heard about the mouse thing and freaked, tried to kill him but couldnt and decided fuck it im exchanging my child or putting him up for adoption and picking up a new one. Sadly she has terrible luck

2- Bareum has not been switched, is the kid of the other mom (actually shown in the picture) and just repressed his memories of the mouse incident, nothing else weird happened to him and the genetic thing is a different thing altogether

->the most logical but i think they're putting too many pieces down for it to be so easy? Idk might be overthinking this show (def am)

3- a little out there tbh but my first one was a switcharoo so i think its too late to try to appear logical; bareum is actually responsible for his parent's death and in the process of whatever happened he lost his memories and his murderous tendencies got repressed with them

-> idk i just thought about that and why the hell not at this point

Random thoughts; the kid pf the mouse incident seemed to really enjoy it while the kid of the fish, dog and siblings seemed to do it more out of revenge/duty/lack of giving any fucks. To me that makes it clear it's not the same person, but it could also just be the development of being abused following the first incident.. i still think if the mouse kid was the siblings kid he would've looked to be enjoying the deaths more? Idk this post is a hellish mess and i cant wait to laugh at myself once im further along

Development theories that are just about future things i think will happen;

- while investigating i think bareum will get more and more into the mind of the killer until he can't repress his own urges or gets too curious and tries it himself

If above happens; might eventually get a hannibal type situation of helping investigate his own crimes and enjoying either figuring it out so easily or leading other people in circles

This is all because i need traces of my theory for how much i figured out / was wrong about once im further along

Fjorester in the Bjreaus talk

It’s yelling about Fjorester hours. I haven’t done this breakdowns in a while but there’s so much to analyze in that Bjreau’s talk and so much subtext and admissions and feelings in Fjord’s explanations that I really need to go step by step

this is mostly focused on the Fjorester side of the conversation because so many people have already broken down the BY in it and maybe i will too later but for now let me focus on my main OTP because wow

Beau: So…. Jester

Fjord: *pikachu panic*

Fjord: There it comes. I was wondering when that melodic intro was gonna hit.

Fjord: J-J-Jester?

THAT’S THE FACE YOU MAKE WHEN YOU KNOW YOU’VE BEEN CAUGHT ON UR CRUSH AND UR TRYING TO PLAY IT COOL BUT YOU’RE FREAKING OUT ENTIRELY

DO YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING ABOUT FJORD, AFTER 108 EPISODES, ACKNOWLEDGING ALL THE FLIRTING JESTER USED TO DO AND THE FACT THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE HAD A CRUSH ON HIM EVEN IF HE DOESN’T KNOW IF THAT’S STILL THE CASE?

HE’S NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT BEFORE

Fjord: I’m actually the less clued in as to how Jester feels. I actually tried to… ask, but I don’t know.

WHEN FJORD? YOU HAVEN’T ASKED. SO WHEN DID YOU TRY? WHEN DID YOU WANT TO AND DIDN’T? WHAT CONVERSATION WAS YOU CAREFULLY TRYING TO SEE IF SHE STILL LOVES YOU? I NEED ANSWERS

Beau: You have to kinda be direct with Jester. Like, if you tried to side-step it-

Fjord: I get that. It’s just that there are more pressing matters at hand

I KNEW HE WASN’T GOING TO DO ANYTHING DURING TC BECAUSE SHE’S SO STRESSED ALREADY AND HE WANTS HER TO HAVE HER TIME AND ALL THEIR SUPPORT WITHOUT ADDING STRESS

Fjord: And… I feel like I’m the fourth version of myself since I left Port Damali. And I feel like it could change again in a month or three months. I feel as if the ground is shifting underneath my feet every few nights that I wake up. And it’s crazy, I actually love cause it’s all been for the better, it no matter how crazy it’s been, but what I wanted when this all began is so far in the past I can’t… I forget about it sometimes. It comes for me in the middle of the night. But… Jester is hard to ignore.

I HAVE (as you might expect) SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS WHOLE LITTLE MONOLOGUE

FJORD SUMMING UP SO MUCH OF HIS ARC AND HOW HE’S STILL NOW TRYING TO FIND HIMSELF AND WHO HE REALLY IS AND HOW HE KEEPS CHANGING AND GROWING

but clearly that lack of stability, as much as it thrills him, it also makes him anxious, not knowing who he will be next and what he will believe and what he will want

AN ALLUSION TO HIS DEATH THAT WE NEVER TALKED ABOUT BUT CLEARLY —CLEARLY— IS STILL IN HIS MIND AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO ADRESS ASAP PLS

And then, right there after the nod to his death, Jester comes back into the statement. Fjord describes the changes and turmoil in his life like all of that is already too much to also focus on love… and then says but she’s still there, in my mind, by my side, all the time. In that mess of these pasts few months, Jester is his lighthouse

Beau: Yeah, no. I- I know! I’m pretty certain literally everyone has a crush on her.

Fjord *panics like that Joey meme*: WHAT?

Beau: Like, at least all of Mighty Nein. I don’t know, though, but I’m pretty sure everyone she meets is like ‘well, I’d maybe kill for you, yeah’

Fjord: No, yeah, I totally agree with.

ME TOO BJREAUS. ME TOO.

Fjord: No, I- where is she?

I’M SO SAD THAT FJORD MISSED HIS PERCEPTION FOR HER BECAUSE I WONDER WHY TRAVIS WANTED TO KNOW SO BADLY

I HAVE THE FEELING THERE WAS SOMETHING THERE OTHER THAN BEING CAREFUL SHE WOULDN’T HEAR HIM

I love this so much. This love isn’t possessive nor demanding. All he wants, all he really asks for, is the chance to make sure she’s happy and safe.

He requires nothing in return. Being around her light and showering in her warmth are enough. She’s already given him so much support, he can’t ask more... certainly not love in the way he would want, in the way he would hope, because life has never told him he’s worthy of such thing —not a monster like him— so why would she?

But really I wanna know how long... how long has Fjord been worried about her leaving, about loosing her... how much of what’s been going on has been him —without saying it— concerned that she’s about to leave the group, how many of their interactions and conversations (”i’m glad you’re here”, “we are happy to have you”, all the talks about disappearing and leaving the sad parts of the world behind) had him secretly concerned that she would soon leave??

AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LATER HALF OF THE EPISODE

Fjord: and then, I don’t know what. I wanna explore the world! I want to see the lands we haven’t seen! I want to find the things that people are scared of and solve them or do what everyone else needs to do...

Fjord: but....... I- I hope- I hope she’s a part of that

Like, he’s so excited to talk about her and Yasha but when Beau brings past feelings into this you can feel a note of panic and defensiveness as he says

Beau: so I definitely had a crush on Jester, just since we’re drunk and we can be...

Fjord: when you said it before, it was like a thing... you had a real crush on Jester?

Beau: well, she’s so enigmatic, like you said and she just like... she’s got this way... just when she talks...

Fjord:

Fjord: I’m talking about Yasha! You can go back to Yasha! It’s- uhm-

HE’S SO ANNOYED IM LAUGHING SO HARD

it’s similar to when he’s reacted to the traveler before and jester calling artagan handsome lmfao

im just saying

and I like that he’s being supportive and he listens and all, even when Beau brings Jester back up... but then he confirms that Beau’s feelings for Yasha are deeper than for Jester and he definitely seems happy with that answer, both for Beau’s happiness (you know Fjord is so excited about these two since forever but especially the way he asks when he turns the tables on Beau he’s so excited for her!) but also because maybe it means one less chance that his own feelings won’t be reciprocated? like an... “alright, so we are good? with this? this is not going to hurt your feelings if i.. if i do love her?” and i think that’s very sweet? like regardless he’s gauging the depth of Beau’s feelings in this regard and I think if she confessed something deeper he would, heartbrokenly, step back and let her have a chance... especially since he’s happy just loving Jester from afar

ANYWAY

I WILL KEEP YELLING ABOUT THIS CONVO IN MY CORNER

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA that was the greatest ‘Batman comes out of nowhere’ joke that i’ve ever seen

They’re really showing us very satirical takes of Batman the ‘beats you up and has a huge ego’ dude, the ‘obsessed with being a cop over ideals’ dude, the ‘obsessed with polling well over ideals’ prosecutor who don’t mind violence at all - and the way they make the whole system suck so that you don’t really feel sorry for it burning down. It’s a brilliant take on Harley Quinn. If the world is insane and inundated with violence - then it’s not so strange that she would side with a guy who makes her feel special even though he’s insane and violent.

wow she really got the Joker. manipulative genius. But also he’s tricking them all for sure. lololololol even the Joker underestimates their morals. But Ivy doesn’t. ahahaha HARLEY NAMED TWO FACE

AND IT WAS IVY’S STORY. oh this makes so much sense considering last season.

I like how random prison guard Sheryl from last episode is also a random bane prison guard in the next episode hahaha

he’s a damn good cop because he’ll just shoot a lot of people or something?

dorothea and fawley were two...somewhat, in love, folks--who had really wanted to have a child of their own. when they did, finally, have their child--he was very sickly and small and neither of them wanted their child to be weak goddammit

so they did a switcharoo, like...switched at birth except i’ve never ever seen switched at birth, and ran off with this extremely rich family’s newborn baby instead!

dorothea and fawley were part of a circus, and thus, lil benjy was raised in a circus !! how cute.

needless to say he was raised in a very nontraditional setting, like, homeboy was homeschooled bc they were literally always travelling, around the country and once or twice out of country.

despite that, he never doubted that his circus family didn’t love him or anything like ?? yeah he never called his ‘parents’ mom or dad, but that’s bc it was like...everyone was his parent.

dorothea and fawley told benjy that his name will never define him, and he could be anyone or anything he wants to be.

this caused a tiny benjy to be CONSTANTLY changing his name. like, almost everyday he’d just declare a new name and everybody in the circus would call him that specific name. even when he did acts, he’d go by a different name every single time

this carried onto adulthood and benjy still doesn’t tell people his real name very often. sometimes they’re sort of normal names n other times they’re fucking bizarre.

when he was seven he declared his name was ‘sock’ for an entire month.

grew up doing a buncha odd lil jobs and roles in the circus, from being a lil handyman like fawley to being a magician’s assistant like dorothea. t’was a lil tiny animal tamer (before the circus stopped using animals in their acts because we don’t stan circuses like that no we do NOT) at some point but reeeaaally liked tightrope walking and things as such

also tried his hand at fire-throwing/etc. etc. but the like eighteen (minor!) burn scars across his body will tell u that it was not for him and he gave it up to pursue knife throwing tricks and juggling

wasn’t rly ever around ppl his own age, also never had a smartphone before he was like eighteen or so--he’s not old fashioned but he can definitely be behind on the times

also grew up listening to primarily older rock/folk music/whatever the fuck music his family created/his own music

that being said benjy is good w a guitar but bitch cannot sing. he sounds like a dying frog.

he also did a bunch of petty theft but that’s bc some of the other folk in the circus did it and he was like huh. looks like fun. bc benjy is thoroughly an idiot but more on that later. so he got some shit on his record but he got them sealed when he turned 18, like, asap

but. benjy is a dumbass. he committed ANOTHER petty crime, because the boy has addictive qualities, and he left some dna evidence bc boy’s got some mf hair

surprisingly, it wasn’t through his records that they found him via his dna but, rather, his real parents who did a whole ass dna kit thing for fun one day

this came as a shock to everybody involved, honestly, though tbh ? benjy didn’t care that much that he had parents who weren’t the circus, but that’s bc of his entire upbringing.

either way his birth parents wanted to like. y’know. meet their delinquent biological son and when they did they were like ‘woah woah woah wtf ur in a circus’ and he was like haha yeah

n that was...sort of it, for a while. benjy was 18, had his GED, n wasn’t planning on going to college at all.

the circus was still traveling, the world was all right, etc. etc, benjy maintained contact with his bio parents bc it was Polite to do

and then the circus burned down! somebody did a flaming knife trick when they weren’t supposed to and, long story short--the entire circus went up in flames. there were no victims, no worries, but their entire livelihood was gone and they were all effectively displaced.

when his Rich Biological Parents found out about benjy’s newfound predicament that he 100% was not responsible for whatsoever, they were like . . . . listen. we’ve got a Reputation to uphold, but we’ll send you to college.

he’s been here since he was like, 21, so he’s a junior i think ??

he’s majoring in political science but it’s like technically his first year as the major bc his freshmen yr he wanted to do anthropology and then he switched to mathematics and homeboy was nvr satisfied but now he thinks he wants to do smth w social welfare so he’s doing political science w theatre and public affairs as minors

Wow, my personality in the game I have at the present time is fighting to get orc rights but im not being a dick about it. Its more that I have a group with Animal Crossing Items extreme murderer personalities who like to skin orcs and cut of their toes once we conquer them. I didnt even understand folks officially whined about"orc racism"

Hell, you're not even permitted to empathize with folks anymore. You know, that thing we've spent decades building up to society and our treatment toward each other.

Now it is"You can't know or talk about this issue unless you have the right identification designation." All the years of work that you put to bridge the gap of individual experience by placing in the effort to understand different people's experiences? Invalid.

Rather, we have pulled another linguistic switcharoo. The word"empathy" now means"empathy" so that empathizing means embracing the correct narrative based on the telescope's psychological appeal.

I am really really none of these conspiracy nut jobs however this has to be some sort of concerted effort from the people who gain most from us not* being much better to one another.

Like we spent decades trying to just understand and accept each other as fellow human beings, the LGBT movement has been started and concentrated solely on making it known that they are like everyone else and deserve the very same rights, they just wanted to be seen as regular people who happen to also be gay. We aren't distinct because of our skin color so treat us as people has turned into give me special status... now suddenly everything is appropriation, everything isn't any I am special because of X thing about myself which is immutable and I did absolutely nothing to earn respect but you will respect me for it anyhow.

Basically there is a demographic of people that are mad and possibly even quite clever (but quite unwise) who when faced by the reality of their own mistakes and failures instead decide that Animal Crossing New Horizons Bells for sale it is reality that is wrong.
