hanekawa defaults to being aware of her ignorance, but that doesnt chsnge the fact that shes ingorant. there is no action or call to change in her mindset. roomba-chan instead chooses to focus on what she can do and not worry abt things outside of her scope, despite her ignorance she is still doing something

A work (in any medium) that has extra meaning to you because of when or where you experienced it?

I've got a few.

Les Misérables (the musical version): I first watched the movie when I was 15, saw it on Broadway for my 16th birthday, listened to the original cast recording a bunch between then. It helped me develop my love of theatre, and the themes of justice and redemption resonated a lot at the time, as I was struggling to become a better person.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk: I read it a couple of months after I started testosterone. I was trying to overcome a lot of toxic masculinity I'd been enacting. It provided a good satire on the very behaviours I needed to stop, and also spoke to me on the level of alienation under capitalism. Plus, I grew my first facial hair while reading it!

Son of a Smaller Hero by Mordecai Richler: I'm still not done, but maaaan. Jewish Montrealer young man alienated from his family, due to zionism and values and other things. It hits home to the point of hurting (which is why I'm not done).

Re:Zero: similar time frame as Fight Club, similar toxic masculinity/entitlement, also a lot of loneliness and trying to be a better person.

As a big fan of game emulation, fakes are often a superior experience to the original, especially for older games. Newer ones on Switch, even.

Serial Experiments Lain, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Catcher in the Rye, Fate/Stay Night, The Mountain Goats - Transcendental Youth. aaaaaaaand Homestuck

I think those are all things i'd probably still like (although i don't know if i'd ever actually finish homestuck nowadays lol) but i would definitely not have the same experience now, moreso than most things

which parts of the adaptation into anime of the Monogatari Series do you think differed fascinatingly from the books? do you think there are places where the anime show is better than the book version of a scene or an arc?
