Annie: You microwave ONE spoon and no one lets you live it down
Mella: You did it THREE times!
Annie: But it was the same spoon

I had every intention of going to sleep but then I remembered that Inkwyrm existed and I've been laying here going thru the tag trying to decide if I want to cosplay Annie or Fae first (Mella would be ideal but I don't own any green)
Also: Annie but she's singing All You Wanna Do from Six (because I think we can all agree she's a 10 amongst us 3s)
Also I wanna make an Inkwyrm discord server but I know exactly 0 people who listen to it

Annie, very worked up: Fuck it! Honest to God. Fuck it. Look, this industry is messed up. And one person alone can’t fix it. But we might as well try. Screw your mom, screw the standards, and screw what other people think. You want a system that’s better, start with yourself.

I’m fully convinced that that wasn’t just the writers of @inkwyrmpodcast being Gravity Falls nerds
Imagine Citrine and her sister combing through the deep recesses of Internet cartoon logs and finding one about a strange and mysterious town called Gravity Falls made back in the ancient early 2000s of Earth (before Earth adopted the Galaxy Standard) and staying up to watch both seasons and once they got to the end of the second, frantically scouring the internet, the deep web, waywayWAYbackmachine caches for season 3 and then Citrine taking in a dainty, horrified gasp.
“What? What is it?”
“I just found a tweet from the creator. He-... he stopped it there. Never made any more.”
And then them just devolving into confused sobs bc in the future if your media is good enough to get a SECOND season, it goes on. How could a show as amazing as GF just stop after that?!
Because let’s be real, there’s all sorts of shiny things trying to grab the galaxy’s attention. Only the best shows/movies/whathaveyou get past their first few episodes. Some get cut off in the middle of the pilot because it’s just not interesting enough and there are a million more things the network could put on to entertain the masses and get more views on their ads.
But the sisters aren’t ready to leave Gravity Falls. Not yet. So they watch it again and again until they’re saying the lines along with the characters, until they’re acting the scenes out as best they can in their room.
They occasionally speak to each other in quotes, making constant references. But as Citrine’s sister started to drift further and further toward Mormonism and Citrine’s attention went toward studying how to be the best damn PR rep she could, the references faded and... stopped. Except the awkward sibling hug. They’d always have the awkward sibling hug.

Some thoughts on the latest Inkwyrm
To be completely honest, this episode actually made me cry. And I was on a car ride and it was incredibly awkward for me trying to hide how hard it really hit me. I'm Filipino and my people aren't strangers to the exploitation Mella's people suffered.  The acting and the writing were absolutely phenomenal and they made the feels sting hard.
Besides that, this episode really hit close to home. I am Filipino. A lot of Mella's past reminded me of my own people's past
Even half a century since we've been officially independent, my people still live with the scars of more than 300 years of colonization. And so much of our culture and our people were murdered. Like Mella, we were forced to work past exhaustion for paltry compensation in an inhumane environment. Our native languages and beliefs were stomped out of us. Even to this day, Filipinos still live with that colonial mindset that our culture is inferior to that of our conquerors. The fact that I'm writing this in the language of my people's former (and one might argue, current) slave owners because it was drilled into our heads from a very young age that English is the language of success and sophistication and not our native mother tongues.
As someone with a love of history, as well as someone raised by activist parents, I've been aware from an early age of just how monstrously exploitative people can be to each other. But actually seeing brutal imperialism and capitalism get depicted is always guaranteed to make me cry, both cuz of incredible despair, as well as anger to try and fight such oppression.
I really was not expecting this podcast to go all out in depicting just how truly deplorable people can be to each other. But I'm really glad this episode was made. I saw a lot of the struggles of my people in it, and that's something I really didn't expect to see, but I really appreciate.
