@robosuta eternal apologies for me being late with the post - this is repost essentially since my blog was broken and the post was invisible
Hii❤❤ tysm for ur kind words, I'm glad that you like my work — I'm also in love with your artwork so keep it up please
I think for some workplaces it's ok to bring your child to the work like my mom did it once so I have some ~background knowledge~ on this
Tumblr media
Yeager Jr. At The Warrior Office
characters included: annie, bertholdt, colt, eren, pieck, porco, reiner, zeke
tags: modernau!
a/n: i made the age gap between Zeke and Eren larger so Zeke is in his early to mid 20s and Eren is of the elementary school age; also, the warriors are all working in the office, just some boring corporate jobs
Tumblr media
Annie
Annie often gets bored at work with her monotonous duties, all of them predictable and never chaging from day to day - so seeing a new face in the office certainly sparks up her interest
initially Annie expects Eren to be boring, given that his father is a doctor and his brother is a white-collar worker, but gets pleasantly surprised when Eren turns out to be a charming but still quite shy ball of energy
doesn't approach Eren though, preferring to stay at her workplace and watch Eren strike up conversations with other warriors instead
when there's a spontaneous practical task emerging like changing the ink cartridge in the printer, Annie is the first one to volunteer (even though there's an intern for such stuff) - while she takes the printer apart, this is the first time that Eren approaches her just to watch the process with curiosity and asking some questions from time to time
Bertholdt
Bertholdt is usually the one to carry all of the difficult tasks on his back (mainly because he can't say no) so he doesn't bat an eye when Eren comes into the office, his eyes glued to the monitor
naturally, Eren gets interested in whatever work Bertholdt is doing and genuinely tries to understand the whole process but it's just too complicated for him to comprehend
in an attempt to put Eren at ease, Bertholdt tries to explain everything to Eren in detail but unsuccessfully - it just makes Eren more angry at himself for not being able to understand such a process when Bertholdt is able to do it with no effort
in the end, Bertholdt misses the deadline to hand in his work and ends up being reprimanded for it
Colt
Colt is an intern so his day is quite busy, especially with Zeke delegating most of his mundane tasks to his subordinate - but Colt is excited to meet Eren anyway
after a while the expected thing happens - Zeke hands Eren into Colt's care - and Colt treats this as the most important mission, not wanting to disappoint his mentor
Given how much Colt wants to gain Zeke's respect, he becomes overbearing towards Eren and gets borderline intrusive in his conversations with the boy
Eren grows tired from being babied so much and when Colt leaves to fetch some snacks from the vending machine for the boy, Eren uses this opportunity to run away
Pieck
With Zeke mentioning his little brother in conversations a lot, Pieck is eager to meet Eren and to find out whether or not the boy is really as wonderful as Zeke tells
Pieck and Eren get along almost instantly, Pieck calls him her little minion and even recruits him to help her (knowing perfectly well that it is beyond all the work ethics to use child labor)
tasked with conducting data analysis and making a presentation about it, Pieck calls Eren for help whenever it comes to choosing a color palette of each graphic - having his own vision, Eren is willing to help in order to make the presentation as eye-catching as possible
given that Eren has not yet developed a sense of style and Pieck not knowing better, the presentation ends up being too flamboyantly designed, but perfectly executed analytic-wise nonetheless
Porco
Porco is not present at the moment when Eren appears in the office - he just has too much vigor to stay at one spot for the whole workday so he often changes location in the building, bringing his laptop with him
Consequenly, Porco is unaware of who Eren is when he first meets the boy in the cafeteria - the first thought that goes through his mind is "Our company is employing kids nowadays?"
Still confused about a child in a corporate building, Porco strikes up a conversation with Eren and is surprised to learn that the boy is Zeke's little brother
Porco thinks that Eren is lying about being brothers with Zeke and tries to call him out on his bullshit (mainly because Porco is bored and wants to shake up his dull day) - bets money on the fact that Eren and Zeke are not related and has to give it up when Eren leads him into the warriors' office to prove him wrong, shit-eating grin on his face
Reiner
Reiner loves kids, but only four specific kids - the kids being Gabi, Falco, Udo and Zofia - tenses up a bit when he sees Eren, lowkey expecting him to behave just like Gabi
Since Reiner's workspce is full of photos of him with the children and cute little trinkets that the children gave him, Eren walks up to Reiner's desk and inspects every object there, keeping the silence the entire time
Feeling the urge to break the awkward silence, Reiner blurts out the first thing that comes to him "You and your brother look very similar", realizing the senselessness of his words too late - after a moment of looking Reiner up and down, Eren replies with "Yes, like our nose shape is the same"
This exchange manages to break the ice between them and the whole workday Reiner entertains Eren with the unobtrusive small-talk
Zeke
(even though he is the one who's brought Eren into the office but I still wanna write some hcs about him)
Zeke is bursting with pride, seeing his little brother wander around the office and interact with other warriors
Watching the work of the others with Zeke being the main coordinator, Eren feels competitive towards the warriors and also wants to help his onii-chan - Zeke agrees to it and tasks Eren with coming up with new ideas or tactics to optimize the work in the office
As perfectionistic and insensitive as he can get, Zeke points out every flaw in Eren's suggestions and nearly brings his brother on the verge of tears with his harsh critic - and genuinely doesn't understand why Eren got upset at his truthful words
Tumblr media
again, thank you so much for requesting, it was really fun for me to write

Okay so here is the cute little idea I had for ocv Anni and Varrick.
So like mentioned in discord, human Anni is getting lots of just attention and love from ocv Varrick and ocv Anni is just sitting there, glaring at the two with Azrael just menacingly standing behind her and trying to cheer her up, but Anni is just super jealous.
Later the group is trying to get human Anni to a portal to get her home and suddenly ocv Anni sees a demon coming to attack human Anni and ocv Anni whips out her bow and arrow and shoots it before it gets the chance to kill human Anni. Normal Anni thanks her later, but ocv Anni is salty and says, "I didn't do it for you. I did it for Varrick....he seems to be fond of you and i'd hate to see him get hurt due to your stupidity..." ocv Anni doesn't think anyone heard her, but Varrick did and later he gets her alone and just pulls her into a bear hug, like her feet are literally dandling in the air, her face is smushed against his and she's yelling at him to put her down.
"I know what you said to the other Anni earlier." and Anni immediately stops and freezes, feeling sort of embarrassed but Varrick is happy that she cares about him and was willing to let human Anni be around him if mean't that he was going to be happy.
"Y-Yeah....? Well I....that doesn't mean anything!!"
"I knew you cared.."
"Shut up! Don't say that too loud!"
(lmao tysm, I love your writing! Please feel free to decline or take as long as you need on this!)

A/N: this kinda bad...didn't come out how I wanted it too-
Word count: 1,653
The shadow-like version of Anni narrowed her eyes sharply, with an annoyed scowl tugging at her lips at the scene in front of her— unfiltered jealousy boiled in the pits of her stomach watching the two idiots in front of her being all lovey-dovey with each other. Azrael mimicked her movements, growling at the human girl who was being closely held by Varrick. Even if it was still technically her, Anni still mildly disliked her human counterpart. A slight wince of jealousy struck at Annu's heart, causing her to look back forward and avoid Varrick's occasional glances towards her. Her feet annoyingly tapped against the floor and a hard lump of air slowly rolled down her sore throat. The two of these idiots needed to get a room.
Varrick sat on the couch, his arm wrapped lovingly around the small little human's shoulders. He leaned in, pressing a sweet kiss to her templeAs he pulled away, he gazed into her eyes, a warm smile gracing his lips. "You know, Anni, I love spending time with you," he said, his voice soft and gentle, "I hate that you have to leave so soon." Varrick's sudden attacks of physical affection had been something Anni needed to get used to, having a tendency to tense slightly at his touch, but she slowly grew to adore passing caresses and hugs from behind. She considered her day incomplete without her heart swelling at least four times with every graze of Varrick's fingers or tightening of his arms around her body.
Not to mention the way Anni could leave him a flustered, blushing mess with a simple phrase or compliment, having his brain working overtime to recover from the sentence “I like your hair like that,” was a good way to get him into a surprisingly amicable mood for the rest of the day. And of course he also had his little ways of surprising her. Strong arms slid around her middle, guiding her into his chest, and she couldn’t have moved more willingly if she was made of putty. Anni's eyes screwed shut, as if to stop the overwhelming happiness of the moment escaping. With her ear against his sternum, she could hear his surprisingly steady heartbeat, and her hand came up to rest against his chest to feel that same rhythm beneath her fingertips.
— . — . —
"Hurry towards the gates and keep your eyes open!" Fang called to all the ears around her, Fang and Viper slowing to let the rest catch up so they could take formation. Just past the gate, was the only place safe enough to open a portal— just so the crawlers or demons wouldn't try to sneak through one and rampage Anni's original home.
They all burst through the forest out into a grassy clearing just a couple hundred feet from the first set of fences. Fang swung around to the back flank next to Viper, holding up the rear and left side with her medium ranged weapon. Crawlers meandered about the fence line, and as they caught the appetizing scent of the human, their heads slowly turned into the direction followed by their bodies.
"Watch the backside!" Fang called over to Viper and her brown eyes flicked to her briefly,
"I got it! Go, Viper!" Fang noticed that everyone had already begun to flood into the makeshift door that she had cut open. Viper gave her a quick nod and grabbed her scythe from the ground, turning, and leaving Fang to watch the rest of their backs as they climbed into the barrier for safety.
"Jesus they're all over the goddamn place." Fang eyed as many of the Crawlers slamming up against the fence as she could as they quickly rushed by. Her boots slammed annoyingly on the gravel below her feet, Fang did an odd formation with his hands. Immediately after, a glowing aura surrounds her. She directs all that energy towards the crawlers until the creatures start to dissipate in thin air. Once they're completely out of sight, she stretches her arms into the air like she just finished a light workout. She didn't even have a single scratch or scuff on her.
"Anni, hurry!" Anni heard Viper's quiet voice to her call from the fence and with one last look as Crawlers stumbled down the fence line, she whipped around and put her scythe in first. Her body was quick to follow as her small frame squeezed through, her shirt getting caught momentarily on a piece of jagged wire protruding out. She struggled to get it off— and right as she managed to wriggle her shirt free of it, a demon grabbed her leg and dragged her.
"I don't believe it, it's a human!" The demonic being practically drooled at the sight of fresh, human flesh. Anni tried to kick it, but its grip was terrifyingly strong. Right as Anni was about to get eaten, an arrow got sharply shot through the demon's skull— it's black-blood splattering everywhere and its grip loosened on Anni. Anni scanned around the area, looking for who was responsible for saving her. Ocv Anni lowered her bow and arrow as she pulled the squealing gate open, taking cautious aim just in case another demon was in the square barrier of wire, before glancing down at the human version of her with narrowed eyes.
— . — . —
"Hey..." Anni stands up straight, her eyes wavering while they struggle to stay on this intimidating woman. "Th-Thank you. You saved my life." She feels her cheeks burning a deep red so she tilts her head away, "I can't thank you enough.."
Ocv-Anni rolled her eyes in response, unimpressed by Anni's effusive gratitude. "I didn't do it for you," she said bluntly. "I did it for Varrick."
Anni's expression shifted from gratitude to confusion. "Varrick? What does he have to do with this?"
Ocv-Anni sighed, clearly exasperated by Anni's cluelessness. "He seems to be fond of you," she explained, her tone edged with annoyance. "And I'd hate to see him get hurt due to your stupidity."
Anni recoiled at her alternate self's harsh words, stung by the sudden attack. "What do you mean by that?" she demanded, her temper flaring.
"I mean that you have a habit of putting yourself in danger," Ocv-Anni replied, her voice hard. "And Varrick cares about you, even if you don't seem to care about yourself."
Anni bristled at the implication that she was reckless or thoughtless. "I don't need you to lecture me," she snapped. "I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself."
Ocv-Anni raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Are you?" she asked, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're lucky to be alive."
Anni scowled, feeling the weight of her alternate self's words settle heavily on her shoulders. She knew that she had a tendency to rush headlong into danger without thinking, but she had never considered how it might affect those around her, especially Varrick. "I...I didn't realize," she stammered, her bravado faltering.
Ocv-Anni softened slightly, sensing Anni's genuine contrition. "Just be more careful in the future," she advised. "And try to remember that you're not the only one whose life is at stake."
Anni nodded, chastened by Ocv-Anni's words. "Thank you," she said quietly. "For everything."
Her alternate self shrugged, dismissing Anni's gratitude with a wave of her hand. "Don't mention it," she said gruffly. "Just don't make me regret saving you."
As Anni finished speaking with her human counterpart, she was convinced that no one else had overheard their conversation. However, as she turned around, she caught a glimpse of Varrick's expression, and it was clear that he had heard every word. Anni felt her heart sink as she realized that she had just revealed a vulnerable side of herself to Varrick, one that she had always tried to keep hidden. She braced herself for his reaction, expecting him to be angry or disappointed in her.
But instead, Varrick surprised her by pulling her into a bear hug, lifting her off the ground and crushing her against his chest. Anni's feet dangled in the air as she struggled against him, her face squished against his chest as she yelled at him to put her down. "Varrick, what the hell are you doing?" she protested, her voice muffled by his shirt.
Varrick didn't answer, but instead held her tighter, as if trying to convey his gratitude and affection through the strength of his embrace. Anni felt a lump form in her throat as she realized how much Varrick truly cared for her, despite all her flaws and shortcomings. As he finally released her from his grip, Annu felt a sense of vulnerability wash over her, one that she had never experienced before. She looked up at Varrick, her eyes shining with unshed tears, and found that he was gazing back at her with a mixture of concern and tenderness. "I heard what you said back there," he said softly, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair from her face. "And I just wanted to say...thank you."
"Y-Yeah....? Well I....that doesn't mean anything!!" Anni felt a blush creep up her cheeks as she struggled to find the right words to respond. "I...I didn't mean for you to hear that," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Varrick shook his head, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "It doesn't matter," he said. "I knew you cared."
Anni felt a sense of relief wash over her as she realized that Varrick didn't judge her for her weaknesses, but instead accepted her for who she was. She knew that she had found a true friend in him, one who would always have her back, no matter what. Anni shook her head, with a little grimace on her lips as she blushed, "Shut up! Don't say it so loudly!"

Okay, I think you know what's coming. A N G S T.
So Anni just straight up runs away, leaving everything and everyone else behind and no one knows what happened to her. Everyone is hurt and just heartbroken, they don't even know what happened to her or if she's even alive. To make things worse, someone brings up what Varrick did to her when she first became a proxy and Vince had no idea this happened. Vince being upset and emotional, he blames it all on Varrick and maybe even tries to fight him because of how mad he is. So Varrick is heartbroken and kinda just becomes cold to everyone and honestly just sort of depressed. Then one day, years later he finds Anni just walking down a street, she has some earbuds in, and just looks normal, its still her but she just looks....different? So Varrick obviously stops and just stares and practically crumbles in on himself. Then Anni turns around and sees him, and then its like that scene in a movie where the two characters just stare at each other from other ends of the same street.
(This can end however you'd like and feel free to change anything! Anyways, tysm...I really appreciate it! :)

Warnings: Angsty, EXTREMELY angsty.
Tags: @insane-horror-movie-addict
A/N: Did I just write stupidly long angst because I got way too into it? Yes. Do I regret it? No. Am I going to roll around and cry a little when I re-read it? Maybe.
Word count: 4,264
Varrick thought she loved him.
Had it been a different day he’d think that she really did; that a part of her truly loved him as he is and cared for him and would have done everything to make sure he was happy. And he would smile at Anni, hands gentle as they run through his hair and caress his cheeks, eyes foggy and heart full at Anni's admittance. He would pull him towards her and press close as if chasing the heat her body rarely emits. Then he would say, “I am happy with you.” And the tension would seep through her pores— and maybe she would embrace him gentler and maybe she would leave butterfly kisses on his shoulders and maybe he would never leave her again.
Varrick thought she loved him.
Until those memories came back into her life. Not their lives, Varrick realized now, because while he shared her life with Anni, she never did reciprocate.
The harsh truth was— Anni would always belong to where she truly came from. When the memories came sauntering back into her life, looking so beautiful and healthy, eyes bright and joyful, voice so happy when she spoke about her true home— Anni had walked away from him with not a single glance, not a sliver of hesitation, to cross the distance between them; marching forward as though this was his lifelong purpose and he’s finally able to fulfill it. She left his side so quickly to see her home, hands shaking as though this is an illusion and she is terrified of that possibility.
Varrick watched the moment she learned that her home is still real and that there she stands before it, in her beautiful glory. He watched as Anni breathed in sharply, whispering names in a voice he did not recognize, in a tone that was never directed at him, before desperately, running towards where she truly belongs— he had remembered how this happened. He took her for a drive on his motorcycle throughout the country, somewhere where her childhood home was— and when he saw the way her face melts into pure euphoric joy— an incredibly rare display of emotions with her. He watched as she stared longingly at her home, unsaid words and eons worth of longing being spilled when she did. When she finally returned to him, that same joy had disappeared as fast as it appeared.
Anni never mentioned her home before, but he knew what it was— he knew what she thought about it, Varrick would see how her expression would change when she smelled slivers of cigarette smoke— he knew what it reminded her of. Her hometown and all her old friends was a picture safely stowed away in her wallet. The same place, Varrick learned later, that she’d frequently have mountains of old pictures of. Anni missed her home.
Varrick can feel his heart shatter from within his ribs. He feels so choked up, skin breaking out with goosebumps as coldness grips him whole, the void inside him growing as he watches the inevitable: Anni leaving him— leaving everyone. It happened when she suddenly disappeared, which wasn't unusual— but days turned into months, and what he didnt realize, they would then turn into years. Tears cascade down his cheeks, slow and silent, just like everything with Anni.
So this is how it ends, he thinks as he walks away, she was never his to begin with.
Varrick doesn't not remember much of the fallout.
Varrick does not even recall clambering about at his brother's house, heinously wiping at the tears, telling Vince what happened within choked words. He does not remember much, just the sight of Anni's back metaphorically moving further from him and growing smaller as she leaves.
It almost feels surreal that the thing he has with Anni is over. There were times that he thought it was inevitable, but sometimes he remembered the way she held him—tight and sure, and grounding in a way that silenced all his fears—and thought that Annni would never leave him. maybe if he hadn't brought her to her home that fateful day, she wouldn’t have. Anni liked him, that at least Varrick knew, it’s just that she loved her true home. She loved her home in the way that he wasn't, and it breaks him. It shatters him into pieces; feeble fingers desperately grasping at the scattered remains of his heart, trying to save himself from more pain. But it is futile. He weeps at her abandonment. Everyone does. Immediately, everyone blamed him for her disappearance. Especially Vince, his own brother.
Vince looked down and saw Varrick, bloodied and battered, laying on the floor next to his very own bloodied fists. Vince felt guilty— but he was assured that Varrick was the one who caused this mess. His feet moved under him and he knelt down next to Varrick, placing his hands on the sides of his face lightly, "Varrick? Answer me." Vince could feel the bruised bones in his jaw and watched his face begin to swell slowly, his skin turning purple and blue.
Vince heard Varrick choking out in pain and agony, looking over and seeing his face wicked with restraint. He continued to keep his arm extended out and his hand clawed at him as if he were gripping his heart and ripping it from his chest. "What the hell is he...?" Vince whispered to his brother.
"Where is she!?" Vince shouted violently and his brother looked at him hatefully, straining to say his words through Vince's hold—-
"l... don't know!!" He growled loudly and Vince clenched his fist shut, turning it in a circle. He gritted his teeth and groaned out in pain and struggled to face his brother, "She just…left. She doesn’t fucking care. She—"
Vince shook his head, "I don't believe you."
Varrick keeps feeling the emptiness pawing at his chest, never truly knowing how to be whole again. He gave what he was to her, and now he has to rebuild who he was in her absence; to leave behind the person he used to be. It was difficult. Varrick thought it would be easy since Anni surely made it look like so, and yet here he is, unable to leave behind the part of him that yearns for a love now unrequited. He shapes himself around what has been, distracting himself from the pain, and stepping over the cracks to patch himself anew as though it would help.
It does not.
It takes so much of him to move on – not like he was able to; he just rather fills up his mind with things unrelated to Anni. He attempted to force himself to move on, he really did.
"Sweetie," A new voice cooed to Varrick. He felt a hand gently glide onto his shoulder, his eyes opened quickly and his head turned to look over to the blond-female that approached him. "Aren't you cold?" Amber asked. In the few last years or so that he had spent in alone in the mansion, the Proxy found himself becoming close to the Zalgo Proxy he had resented slightly in his youth. It was only natural for them to drift to each other, it felt good to have a distraction from all the worries in his mind.
Varrick slowly looked away from her, looking up at the now gray night sky and wondering how long he had been standing in thought. Long enough for the sun to fully set. "I've got a lot on my mind..." he whispered. "It's been three years since she's been gone, that's a long time. I wonder how everything has changed...l wonder how I've changed..."
He glanced over as Amber obnoxiously yawned, taking the hand off his shoulder and using it to cover her mouth a bit. "l just thought you were cold, I didn't ask for your whole life story.." she said, rolling her eyes. She groaned and stepped forward more, hugging him slightly from behind with one arm wrapped around his shoulder, her free hand coming up and cupping at the proxy's cheek to turn his eyes to her. "Everything's fine without her, stop worrying." she said. After this she slowly leaned in, pulling Varrick in as well, and pressed her lips against his. Varrick returned the kiss, lips gently wrapping over each other as it deepened slightly, his eyes closed, but his is mind had been preoccupied as he did this. He wondered, what would Anni have said?
These thoughts he made up for the girl made him let out a chuckled laugh, causing Amber to pull away slightly and look upon his face in confusion and annoyance. Varrick pulled away a bit, hand gently reaching up to hold the back of Amber's neck and he slowly opened his eyes. Wind rushed past them and blew some of Varrick's bangs over his eyes, obstructing his vision. Through his bangs he saw himself looking back at those captivating eyes that he was unable to stop thinking of, his hand prickled by soft and hanging blond locks as they grazed over his knuckles. He could see that sad smile again.
The wind subsided, his hair fell back into place as the girl in front of him, Amber, pulled away from him - pleased with her pathetic results of attempting to shut up the worries of her boyfriend. He was cold to her— he was cold to everyone since he left, all excluding Cassie, who didn't understand the situation.
Varrick watched her walk away, her hair once again taking the form of Amber's blond and tied up hair, and standing there blankly. A trick of the eye and mind, in a moment of obstructed vision his brain tried to connect what existed in his vision with what had passed through his mind. The result had been the muddled image of that girl. Anni.
A thought crossed his mind for a moment, but he couldn't convince himself completely. Something was in the air, quite literally, and he had smelt it before. "Cigarette smoke.." the whisper came softly from the boy's lips. The only reason he recognized it so well— was because it was the particular brand of cigarettes that Anni would always smoke.
The air smelt of remnants of smoke, just like it had that day before she had left.
— . — . —
Anni had been casually walking down the crowded streets of her town, with a slight skip in her step, and music blaring in her earphones— she lazily marched through the sidewalk with a small coffee she had been clinging onto since she had left the cafe. Ever since she had abandoned her old chaotic life to live in her hometown, everything had been nothing but great— she had met so many new normal people, got a job with the RPD, and had managed to score her own little house within the suburbs. Her other co-workers offered her a ride back to her apartment, but she can handle walking back home— it was much nicer this way, it gave her peace to know she had finally begun to forget the past— which felt more like a fever dream than memories. She sipped on her coffee with a lazy smile on her lips, breathing a waft of fresh air, this fresh new start was what she absolutely needed— she had even quit smoking cigarettes.
Life was great.
Anni rubbed her eye with the ball of her hand and took a quick sip of her coffee, stretching her free arm as high as it would go. With a groan, she walked down the street towards her apartment, the sky burning with the bright, early afternoon sun. A loud sigh escaped her lips and her brown eyes shimmered like glass against the sunlight that bore through a large window behind her favorite cafe.
Vendors stretched across the middle of the streets, catching people's eyes cleverly as they passed by. People walked their dogs, children ran crazily through the crowds of people, and young lovers held hands while the boys bought their girls nice gifts. Anni saw big blow-up playground fluttering around as the children expended all their energy with all their excitement. Street performers littered the different corners of downtown, hoping to make a few dollars from the onlookers that were intrigued by their talents.
Anni stopped dead in her tracks when the exploding sound of hot rods and motorcycles echoed through the streets. Her green eyes instantly found the culprits, seeing hundreds of them lined up in on the shoreline of the lake. A smile crossed her face upon seeing the beauty of the classics all over and the excitement of seeing them was almost unbearable. She found that her feet were quickly carrying her towards the scenic view of mechanical beings, weaving in and out of groups of people, and avoiding children as they jumped in front of her, some even waving at her— to which she gave a little wave back.
Life was so great.
— . — . —
Varrick lazily outstretched his hands to intertwine with the younger girl below him— the only one he had even cared for anymore. As the years passed, a depressed scruff lazily grew onto his chin and with narrowed eyes— he squinted them as the sun glared back at him. God, he hated the human world— everyone was so happy-go-lucky and quite frankly— fucking irritating. The only reason why he had been out here was because Cassie had practically begged him for weeks until he finally gave in, he undeniably had a weak spit for the girl. Ultimately, he had regretted even leaving the house and should've convinced Vince to take her out instead. Varrick walked outside and grimaced at the sight of the high, beaming sun. The rays of its glory beamed down on his scruffy, tired face, his hand immediately hovering over his brow so his eyes could finally get a look at his surroundings. The area of the street was abuzz with activity, people crowding around tailgates and their friends getting ready for their day's events.
God he should have stayed ho— wait.
A recognizable figure walked in the middle of the street, looking as happy as ever— It was a bright, yet small grin under a light shade of pink lip gloss. A wind caught the woman's long, brown haired bouncing around in her ponytail and the lazy bangs in her face tickled her cheeks. Is that who he thinks it is? His hand gripped Cassie's hand tightly, as the youthful little girl looked at him in slight wonder. He blinks the sleepiness away, hands wiping at his foggy eyes, before an overwhelming coldness envelops him in whole. He stares at the girl, frozen, feeling a myriad of emotions flooding him like an angry current. And then, like a balloon popping, his heart is bleeding at the seams again. It’s terrible how just because of a single look from Anni, he is back to being young and stupid for her. Back to yearning for her embrace and missing her voice and remembering every good thing about her. He blinks.
and again.
and again.
and again.
He stares at it until the woman's image is seared deep into his mind as though this was the salvation he's been looking for. He knows it is not.
and yet it does not stop his pining heart.
Anni sees him. She pushed her way through the swarming grow, the afternoon rush had only just started and would grow quickly. It slowed her down, weaving through bodies that would do close to nothing to move out of the way, and she grew anxious. Her anxiety grew as she felt the heat of staring eyes behind her, she could hear the familiar voice even through the loud nuzzling of the crowd. Varrick, she could almost hear him shouting her name.
He wouldn't shoot in such a crowded space, but he wouldn't let her lose him either. His voice made chills run down her spine, panic began to set inside of her, and she looked back and over her shoulder for a moment. What she saw made her frightened, a look of utter rage and darkness in his eyes as he pushed his way harshly through the crowd. But as she turned her head once again, she saw Cassie softly coaxing him and tears both springing into their eyes— Varrick softly nodding to what the child had been telling him, and they ended up both going to a diner. A diner all too familiar to Anni— one they had gone to, to celebrate Cassie finally going to school. (It wasn't a normal human school, but it was one in the demon-realm. Nightmare had offered to help enroll Cassie into the school Hunter had been going to, and Anni remembered how Varrick scrunched his face in protest of letting his precious little girl go to a pretentious rich-demon school.)
Anni could ignore Varrick and everyone else, but she didn't have the heart to abandon Cassie any longer. She sighed, turning on her heel to enter the diner they had been in.
— . — . —
Anni meets them by the breakfast diner that she frequented at before heading to her work. It’s the same one that Cassie is so fond of, the girl always silently vibrating in joy whenever she brings her there for breakfast before her school.
A rush of memories floods Anni like a raging storm: she remembers having to wipe pancake syrup from Cassie's chin, the girl unconsciously becoming a messy eater despite the care she puts in chewing. She remembers Varrick's little crooked smile when tasting the waffles that she ordered for him.
Anni reigns in her emotions, swallowing the lump in her throat and blinking the stinging behind her eyes, willing the unshed tears to disappear. She is not naïve enough to think that this meet-up is for a rekindling of her relationship. She knows it is not. She doesn't plan on returning.
She entered the diner and it is so laughable how her eyes easily found him.
He looked just like she remembers: handsome. He is so breathtaking that she had forgotten why she had followed them into the diner. The telltale of a smile graces her lips, gentle and warm, before the façade is broken when he meets her eyes.
The eyes that he loves dearly are empty of any emotions; there is no sense of nostalgia at seeing him or even an inkling feeling of remorse at his hollowed state. There is not even an awkward strain in her eyes that shows the signs of her distaste with the situation. There is only indifference. And that, for some reason, hurts more.
Anni wants to leave. She wants to just turn around and hightail from the diner, and never cross paths with him again. Sure, she wants to know why he nearly followed her, but a part of her also thinks that she does not owe him this.
and she's right—she doesn't.
Then she sees Cassie.
She sees Cassie and the fight that had simmered in her veins leave. The anger and the hurt and the bubbling feeling of unfairness that she felt at seeing Varrick is replaced with nothing but a stuttering silence. Cassie looks at her shyly as though she no longer remembers how to be with her and she is crushed. She does not resent the young girl, oh god, she never would, but could anyone blame her heart for breaking?
It's there, standing by the doors of the tiny diner, that she finally realizes that there was no longer a space for her. Not beside Cassie, and not with Varrick. A stuttered breath escapes her. It almost sounded like a cry.
— . — . —
Silence greets her when she sits down. Cassie is fiddling with the paper wrapper of her straw, body tensed beside Varrick. She’s always been a smart kid, so no wonder that she knows something is wrong with the situation.
“How…are you?” Anni asks, eyes trained at the girl than at her adopted father. She feels Varrick's eyes bore into her and she tries not to tremble at the attention.
Since when was Varrick's presence associated with fear? She does not remember anymore.
Cassie peeks up at her adopted father as though asking for permission. She doesn't know what she sees, but Cassie turns to her and sends a shy smile her way.
“I'm doing okay,” Cassie replies, voice quiet as though she does not want to break the tense silence.
Anni smiles back at the youthful girl. She knows it is not as bright and she feels her smooth lips sting at the action, but Cassie's shoulders relax and that is enough.
“That's good,” Anni says to her because it is. A waitress arrives and asks for her order. She says the usual, smiling when she nods and walks away. There is silence again, but this time it is less overwhelming and more hesitant. Varrick refuses to open the conversation, so she does it for him.
“How are you, Varrick?”
Anni's voice is quiet and her eyes do not meet him. Any other day, she would call this cowardice. But not today. Today this is protection—she does not wish to hurt all over again. He grunts but he does not answer. She does not probe anymore, simply nodding and waiting to pass time.
The diner fills up with more people as he waits for his order. A family sitting three tables from his are talking in loud voices. A couple sits by the windows, hands intertwined on top of the table. A woman is furiously typing away on her laptop beside them, half of her face buried on the fluff of her scarf. The diner is full of life and even for just a bit, it distracts Varrick.
The sound of paper sliding on wooden tables catches his attention. He zones back in, eyes focusing on the envelope Anni's pushed towards him. He knows what is in it. Rage simmers from within his chest, almost suffocating in the way it bubbles and fills him up.
Varrick turns to her, body pulled taut. “No,” he says, voice firm.
How dare she. How dare she.
“Anni,” he uttered, voice trailing off when the waitress came back with their food. She nods at her and sends a heated look at Varrick. He responds with a small glare of his own and something like a knife drives itself to his heart. When Varrick turns to her, the glare is still on his face and a visceral ache overtakes him. He wants to hurt her the same way she’s hurt him. He wants her to hurt; to cry for days and scratch at her aching heart. He wants her to miss him.
Anni rolls her eyes at what she saw in his, leaning back onto her chair. “Just take it,” she says, voice gruff.
“No.”
“Stop being difficult. take the payment-”
“I didn't love you to be repaid, Anni.” She parts her lips, but Varrick does not give her the chance to talk.
“I loved you for what little love you gave to me. I loved you as lovers do, Anni. I loved our family.”
Anni sighs and for a moment, it is like he is seeing the Anni he remembers. This is the woman who he knew loved him. The one whose eyes look older than they really are, and whose hands tremble when she thinks he is looking away. The one who called for his name when her nightmares got too much, and the one who promised him that he has nothing to worry about— that she wants to stay with him. Liar. This is the woman who looked at her with kindness and compassion; the one who pressed i love you’s at his lips.
Anni calls his name and he turns back to her. He feels his lips quiver as tears blur his eyes. He misses the woman she was.
“Take it,” she says, voice quiet, “Take it and we will leave this as it is.”
He lets Cassie crawl beside her. It might be the last time they’d see her and Varrick wants Cassie to remember her for as long as she could.
Anni wipes at Cassie's tears and presses the young girl softly to her, hugging her shaking body as she whispers comforting promises to her ears. The familiarity of taking care of Cassie bleeds out from her, and Varrick thinks—and he would not admit this to anyone—how motherhood looks good on her.
Varrick tries imagining her married with a faceless man standing tall behind her and a child cradled in her arms. Varrick imagines the way the man would embrace her from behind, tucking her to his chest as they both gaze at the sleeping bundle they hold. Varrick imagines many things about her family: the sleepless nights that would be worth it, the lullabies that would spill from Anni's lips, the way her husband would always be beside her through everything. A tinge of jealousy courses through him, and Varrick never hated himself more.
He turns back to Anni and Cassie, watching in silence. She is feeding the youthful girl her food, occasionally wiping at her chubby cheeks as Cassie continues to sniffle. Anni wonders how long it’ll take for him to move on and find someone new. Someone who would love him more than she ever did. Someone who would want to marry Varrick.
For a moment, his phone began to ring. A familiar name flashed across the screen. Amber.

Okay..hope you don't mind me sending you another request but Tony has got my mind going with all sorts of ideas...but for your sake i'll send you one of them. Also if you could...could you finish this one first? Unless you've already started on the others, then don't worry about it, but i'm really stoked for this one!
So Anni goes to Tony for her first ever tattoo. Its a full back piece...i'm imaging something like this --->XXX
Its a big back piece and that being said, Anni has to take off her shirt and bra...so she's bare. Tony is just kinda sitting there, trying not to look and he's like "ah...look at that ceiling...what a lovely ceiling that is." and Anni lays on her stomach and Tony gets all the stuff ready. One of the first things Tony notices is the scars on her body. Now usually Tony doesn't care to talk much to his clients but he just decides to break the silence and ask about them and that's when Anni talks briefly about who she works for and her job as a proxy and Tony is just noticing little things about her like how she doesn't squirm or squeal at the tattoo needle and she is just calm and collected as he works on this huge back piece. She's so calm and chill that she ends up falling asleep as Tony works on her, its like three in the morning and she's just tired, but Tony thinks she passed out so he's ready to go and get some water and food to try and help get her awake, but she wakes up and is like...oops and Tony actually laughs at it and mentions how hes exhausted too. So by the end of their session, Tony isn't able to get her tattoo fully done and he is completely booked with more appointments, so he does something that he would never usually do...
"Look....I usually don't do this, but if you want me to get it done soon then you can stop by my place and I should be able to finish it..." and he hands her a slip of paper with his address and phone number..
(tysm! no pressure and please feel free to change anything and go at your own speed! tsym again!)

Grabbing his pen and a black pot full of his thin-tipped coloured skin markers, he wheels his chair even closer to Anni before pausing, leading her to look at him in confusion since she had already pulled her wrist in front of him, “You’re wearing a lot of clothing,” Tony muttered as she began to fiddle with the collar of her white tank top causing her to look at him with extreme confusion before mentioning, how it was colder since the Autumn season is coming around, leading him to hum in an understanding tone as she continued to play with the smooth fabric.Tony shakingly directs his line of vision towards the ceiling, humming a nervous tune while tapping his knee, waiting for the 'okay' from Anni— he was never good around attractive female clients, it always felt strange to him.
Slowly, Anni began to reach over to the top button to then unhook it from its loop before continuously doing the same with the others until enough skin of her back were exposed with her shirt resting on the side of her to which then he slowly moved away the right-hand side of her bra strap to fully expose the canvas that he wanted to mark so eagerly. Regrettably pulling away and finishing 'admiring' the ceiling, Tony quickly grabbed his black pen as he then leaned in towards her to start drawing the outline of his design on his now favorite canvas causing her to barely move even despite how ticklish and weird the sensation felt when the ballpoint pen continuously gently gilded upon her skin. However, what got her shaking the most was the constant feeling of the man's breath being felt on her upper body now that her shirt was basically off..
Tony is a tattoo artist who has been working in the industry for a few years. He's seen all kinds of clients, from the nervous first-timers to the seasoned tattoo enthusiasts. He takes pride in his work and enjoys the challenge of creating unique and meaningful designs for each of his clients in the under-realm— so he had completely expected her to be screaming and squirming, but she was completely calm— she didn't even look like she could feel the needle literally grinding against her skin at all.
As Anni continues to lay on her stomach, Tony gets all the necessary equipment ready. He takes a quick glance at Anni's body and notices the scars on her skin. Despite being a professional tattoo artist, Tony is not someone who usually talks much to his clients while working. However, he decides to break the silence and asks Anni about her scars. "Excuse me, you mind if I ask about your scars? I've only seen one other guy with this many— but on his back. He had the strangest yellow eyes as well, the people that walk in here are weird."
"Oh, those. I work as a proxy for a living. It's part of the job I guess." Anni briefly tells Tony about her job as a proxy and the dangerous situations she has been in. Tony is impressed by Anni's stubbornness and how truly nonchalant she was talking about all this absurd stuff. He admires how she has been able to keep going despite the challenges she has faced— he'd probably quit the moment he became a proxy if he was being honest with himself, proxies always looked depressed.
"I see. That's interesting. Does it hurt…?" As Tony begins to work on Anni's tattoo, he notices that she does not squirm or squeal at the tattoo needle. He is impressed by Anni's pain tolerance and how she is able to remain calm and composed throughout the process. Tony is able to fully concentrate on his work, knowing that his client is comfortable and at ease.
"Not anymore. I've gotten used to it. It's just another part of the job." Due to Tony's concentrating, she couldn’t help but keep silent to help him continue with his work causing her to glance around her room with her eyes before landing upon a wall where there was a multitude of messages written leading her to carefully scan the writings that were visibly presenting themselves. As expected, there were messages of encouragement - not that Tony seemed to really care, but it was nice of the client to do so - and a few drawings from other tattoo artists that Tony had famously done. However, not to her surprise, there were a few numbers here and there causing her to laugh silently since she couldn’t help it.
She lays down on the tattoo chair, and Tony starts to work on her tattoo. It's been a long day for Anni, and she feels herself dozing off as Tony continues to work on her. Tony assumes that Anni has passed out, and is about to go get some water and food to help her wake up. But just as he is about to leave, Anni wakes up, and Tony chuckles at her sudden awakening. He understands how exhausting the process can be, and mentions how he himself is drained.
"God, I'm not sure why I came so late if I'm being honest— I knew I would be tired." Anni says yawning— tired tears springing to her eyes, and Tony glances at her. He continues to trace the lines, wiping afterwards to get the excess ink and blood off with a little lopsided smile on his face, he knew where she was coming from, he was similar in that way.
He doesn’t comment on it though. What is he supposed to say? He simply works away, finally finishing the thin and delicate outlines of hsr piece- the first step, before he will see her again for the finished version of the piece. He finally connects the last line, and doesn’t think twice about what he says next. “Welp, I won't be able to finish this right now.”
Tony continues to work on Anni's tattoo, but it's already past three in the morning, and Anni is just too tired to stay awake. Tony notices this, and decides to halt the session. He knows that he won't be able to finish the entire tattoo, as he is completely booked with more appointments.
It takes a second that feels way too long for the both of them to register the words, and Tony quickly occupies himself by turning off his gun and cleaning up her skin and his workspace to get the awkwardness out of his room. Anni tries to instantly stand up, but his palm holds onto her leg- silently ordering her to stay put, which she does. He rubs something over the piece, before he gently lifts her leg to wrap it. “I’ll give you a bottle of lotion for it. Leave that bandage on for.. I’d say until tomorrow morning at least. Afterwards, apply the lotion everyday to help it heal properly.” He lectures her with a gentle voice, before letting her sit up.
“Thanks.” Anni says, grinning eagerly at the now hidden artwork on her back. Tony chuckles.
“We’re not done yet, but I’ll take it.” He says. “I uh..” He starts, as she jumps off the stretcher and goes to put on her shirt. “uhm, look....I usually don't do this, but if you want me to get it done soon then you can stop by my place and I should be able to finish it....” He asks, a bit hurried, before he can chicken out again. And he exhausts himself for a moment, because he had literally been booked with appointments, and he couldn't even finish this one. Quickly scribbling down his address, and number, he quickly slides over the piece of paper to her.
Tony does something that he would never usually do - he offers to continue the tattoo session at his home studio, on his day off. He sees the excitement in Anni's eyes, and knows that he has made the right decision.
“Like a date?” Anni asks, and he really wants to hit himself with how much he blushed. Anni quickly catches wind of this, and smirks, “I'm joking of course."
“I mean, if you want it to be?” He says, swallowing as he averts his gaze, a sight very weird, trying to joke around as well. His hand runs through his hair, chain around his neck and piercings on his ears clattering against each other and making sounds as he moves, his combat boots nervously tapping the floor a little. “It doesn’t have to be.. I know you’re already-”
"Tony, Tony," Anni grabs his shoulders, trying to shake him of whatever delusional exasperated state he was in, "It's fine— I was just kidding."
Yep— that checks in, why would he ever have a chance with some badass proxy chick?

Okay so after that Cassie fic...I have ideas! So Cassie, Vince, and Anni. Omfg it would be cute! Vince is just the best with kids and I feel like Cass would be pretty much raised by everyone in the manor, but she gravitates to Anni as like her "central parental figure". So Anni is being followed around by Cassie and at first Anni doesn't know what to do with her, and Cass even gets found by THE OPERATOR!!! Anni thought Cass was gonna die, but Slender is just like..."Does this human belong to you?" like he's actually chill about it and even picks Cass up to look at her and maybe mention how he wants to make her a proxy and Anni is like, "FUCK NO!"
But Anni is tired and she falls asleep on the couch and Cass just sits there and watches some cartoon and maybe even plays with Anni's hands or pokes at her freckles, just normal, curious kid stuff. And Vince sees this and melts. Then he takes Cass and maybe colors with her or does something kiddy to make her happy and Anni wakes up and freaks out because Cass isn't there but she finds Cass and Vince in the kitchen, making "breakfast dinner". And Vince looks like a dilf with his apron on, his clean white sleeves rolled up showing off his arms, and he has a little bit of flour on his cheek from making pancakes. Cass is just having fun, and Anni practically melts as she watches Vince being so sweet and fatherly towards Cass.
The rest is up to you! Tysm and continue to spam me when you get more ideas! Also if you have any questions...let me know!

A/N: I made it extra long so you could enjoy! And added a little more to what you originally asked for because I thought you might enjoy it.

Anni absolutely didn't know what to do.
Children were certainly not her specialty— so it was honestly such a weird occurrence to just have a child one day just appear into her life— she knew absolutely nothing about children and she never bothered to learn anything about them considering she never expected one to just suddenly waltz into her life. It's been a little over a week since she had found the young, abandoned girl in the cabin, and despite how emotionally unavailable she seemed— she immensely cared about the young child. So she taught Cassie the only thing she knew how to. Shoot.
"This was my first silencer. I rigged it out of the top of a metal baseball bat." She looked up at him, seeing the curiosity on Cassie's childish face. She screwed the makeshift silencer in and tightened it, "And it's yours now. I have a different one."
Cassie took the pistol and studied it, noticing that there wasn't too much more weight to it. Cassie looked back into Anni's eyes and a small smile crossed her liips, "Thanks."
"And I'll take this." Anni pulled her own trusty pistol out of the bag, a silencer already set out on the tip of the barrel. Cassie leaned down and grabbed a small bag off the floor, opening it and moving towards the bag, "What're you doing?"
"Gotta take more ammo." Cassie looked up at her briefly as he stuffed a box of ammo in the backpack. Anni smiled and nodded, standing to her feet and crossing her arms,
"Grab some rope, too."
"For what?"
"You'll see..." Anni smiled and moved past her to a set of shelves on the other side of the room. She pouted at her dwindling supply of Molotov's and homemade bombs, letting out an annoyed sigh as she took a couple. She called Cassie over and she was quick to her side, watching in curiosity as she stuffed a few aerosol bombs into the bag.
"What're those for?"
"You want to have some fun, right?" Anni rigged herself with some warm clothes, zipping up her jacket with her bum arm underneath. She kept her pistol tucked closely in her pocket, pushing herself along with her cane towards the back door. Cassie manned the backpack on her back and the two snuck out through the back door, Anni secretly popping a couple extra hydrocodone in her mouth before leaving.
Anni and Cassie made their way behind the shed, Anni having an easier time making it through the snow than the younger girl. But pursuing on and not wanting to disappoint Cassie, she pressed to the back gate and pulled her spare key out from her jacket pocket. Anni then stopped and stared out behind the house, seeing a few figures scrambling through the snow in the distance. Cassie then took notice of them as well and looked up at her, "This might not be a good idea. If we become overwhelmed you're not going to be able to defend yourself."
"Then I'll leave the defending to you." Anni looked down at Cassie and smiled, "My life is in your hands."
"But I... I won't be able to do that."
Cassie hesitated, but followed through the gate. She heard the click of it shut and the key lock it behind her, knowing there was no turning back. She sucked in a deep breath and nodded her head to herself, gripping her hand tightly around the handle of her pistol. She wanted to make himself better and be able to defend herself so she didn't end up like her parents. Her gaze moved over her shoulder as she looked at Anni out from under her hat, "I'll go first." She moved through the foot of snow, knocking down the wall of powder to make it easier for Anni to walk through. Anni followed closely behind Cassie, keeping her eye out for any demons that were nearby. Tossing a glance over her shoulder, she continued her way through the path that Cassie carved, noticing that they were getting further and further away from the house; just what they needed.
Cassie halted when a demon slinked out from behind a tree, both her hands raising the pistol up in front of him. She closed an eye and looked down the sights, keeping her hands steady in order to take it down all in one shot. With the pull of the trigger, the silenced bullet escaped the chamber and shot out, completely missing the demon by inches. Cassie let out a dry gasp and aimed once again, but Anni gripped her shoulder tight, "Don't kill it." Cassie looked up at her from over his shoulder and she met her gaze, "I have an idea... get that rope out of the backpack."
Cassie gave her a questioning look, but ultimately swung the backpack off her shoulder and tore it open. The two backed away from the slow demon that approached, Anni tearing the rope from Cassie's hands and marching forward with her limp, "What're you doing!?" She shouted as Anni approached the demon, its nasty snarls echoing through the snowy forest around them.
Anni shoved the tip of her gun against the demon's chest, knocking it back a few steps. She took another step forward and repeated, slamming it back a few more feet. Finally, Anni rammed the gun against the demon's chest one last time, watching it knock back against a tree. Anni quickly extended the rope out and wrapped it around the demon's stomach, pulling both the sides of the rope with her good hand and securing the demon to the tree. She quickly zipped open her jacket, and with the help of her hand, she tied a tight knot in the thick rope. Her legs trudged back towards Cassie and she stared at her curiously, her eyes flicking back to the demon. It reached out towards them and its legs dug into the ground in attempts to get away from the thick rope.
"There. Now you have yourself a target." Anni nodded and zipped her jacket back up as a cold breeze descended upon them, "You shouldn't have a problem with twenty feet. It's the perfect distance."
"It's kind of moving a lot..." Cassie said as she watched the demon thrash about in the snow. Anni sighed,
"Well... if you can't hit it from this distance, as he's moving about like that, there's no way you'll be able to hit it at all." Anni looked down at her and placed a hand on her shoulder for comfort, "We've got plenty of bullets and take your time... not like we have anywhere to be or anything."
"Alright..." Cassie nodded her head and took a couple steps forward, the long silencer of her pistol tapped nervously on her leg. She finally lifted it and gripped it in both her hands, closing her eyes to get a better aim. She saw the demon's head in her sights and took a deep breath, pulling the trigger and feeling the recoil of the heavy gun kick in her hands. She frowned when the demon continued to thrash about; the bullet had missed its target yet again.
"Take your time, I said." Anni voiced behind her and Cassie raised her pistol again, staring at the demon. She left out an annoyed huff and closed her eyes, the sights following the demon's head every time it moved. With the pull of the trigger again, she watched a splatter of blood squirt across the tree's trunk and drip onto the snow. A light smile crossed her face as she saw the bullet's entry point in the demon's neck, knowing she was close. "Good job. Now this time, try and get it."
Cassie had missed a few more times, her annoyance skyrocketing and making her more irritated by every second. She dropped her pistol to her side and let out a huff, Anni hearing it and kneeling up next to her. He shook her head, "I hate this. I can't hit the thing."
"Yes you can. You're just giving up too easily."
"It's not as easy as it looks." Cassie looked up at her, a clear pout strung up on her face. Anni rested her body and slipped out her own silenced pistol, staring out at a demon approaching them closer with each step. Cassie watched her pull up her pistol while taking quick aim, her finger yanking back the trigger with utter quickness. The slide cocked in sync with the gun in her hand and she saw the demon in the distance crash to the ground, a swell of snow bouncing upon its impact.
"It's not hard... you just have to practice." Anni looked back down at her and slid her pistol back into her pocket casually. Cassie dropped her eyes to the ground and eventually looked back at the demon staring back at her ruefully, "Now do it again." She heard Anni's soft voice say with patience, Cassie letting out a calming sigh and turning to face the demon fully.
The pistol barrel stared at the demon with a determined eye of Cassie's staring back down the sights. Taking a deep breath, the preteen let it out slowly and concentrated all her senses on one thing: taking out the restrained demon. It yanked and shoved against the tight rope, sneering at Cassie with antagonizing intent, its wet hair clingy to its face as it swayed. Anni watched Cassie's hand slowly moving along with the demon's head, her eye keeping the kill-spot closely in his sights. The soft snipe of her silenced pistol clicked through the air and Anni's eyes immediately fell on the demon, seeing its head dip over its chest and its legs give out from under it. With a smile, Anni laughed and nodded, tossing her hand on Cassie's shoulder while shaking it, "Good job, kid. Good job!"
Cassie cheers a little, hopping up and down as she celebrates her small victory. In the midst of her mini-celebration, she spots a young boy— seemingly somebody that is her age. Her eyes widened slightly, dropping her pistol as she spaced out slightly from what Anni was saying. As she paced toward the lone demon boy playing with his little figurine.
Before she can speak to him, his eyes thin themselves into slits as he narrows his eyes, "Girls have cooties."
"Hey! That's rude!" Cassie crossed her arms, "I do NOT have cooties."
"Liar, all girls have cooties." Spooked, the embarrassed 4-year-old kept his eyes glued onto his half-finished snowman before he was greeted by the young girl inching up to him with her cheeks angrily puffed out.
"Well, boys are smelly. And dumb!" The boy's gaze immediately dropped as he began furiously shoving mounds of snow into plastic molds to get his mind off things; he needed a break so that he wouldn’t get too annoyed with this girl. Before Cassie could even ask his name, the young demon boy escaped— before she started to chase after him. They ran and chased each other around, until Hunter skillfully managed to sneak into the operator's office to hide from the young girl, but she had been right behind him.
— . — . —
Anni was exhausted.
She hadn’t felt like completing one of the operator's eccentric missions, she was already tuckered out taking care of a singular child— especially since she couldn't seem to find Cassie at the moment. Anni sighed, she took a hold of the large doorknob once again and gave it a turn to let herself in, even if she didn't want to complete any task at the moment.
"Girls go to Jupiter to get more stupider!"
"Boys go to Saturn to get more fatter!"
Anni's brows furrowed at the scene before her, two little kids yelling at each other on top of the operator's desk— throwing little objects at each other. Fear riddled her system for a moment, but she noticed the operator hadn't seemed frustrated. In fact, he seemed awfully amused. He interrupted their little banter as he gently wrapped one of his tendrils around the girl, lifting her up slightly, "Does this human belong to you?" He questioned telepathically, as Cassie smiled at the presence of Anni.
"Yes— well, uhm, not exactly— I found her on one of my missions, and I haven't figured out what to do with her, so I guess?" Anni's hand wandered to the back of her neck, softly rubbing it in confusion as she shrugged slightly. It was clear she wasn't quite sure how to answer the question, or exactly pinpoint the reason for why he wanted the answer to it. The operator silently peered at her as Hunter hopped onto his shoulder, his tail flickering at the irritating presence of Cassie.
"Wonderful. I have already arranged for Hunter to be trained, and I'd like to make her a proxy as well."
"FUCK NO—"
— . — . —
Anni could feel the pressure building inside of him. Her muscles are tense, her eyebrows furrowed until they ached, her neck carried the weight of a long week. Even if she was one of the most important proxies, it meant nothing if he couldn’t protect herself from the perils of administrative work and the young child she currently had the responsibility 9f taking care of. Her eyes remain shit, even as Cassie giggles and pokes at the pretty little freckles scattered alongside her face.
Lids nearly shield Vince's amused amber eyes from the light of the ceiling fan and he lets out a small breath of amusement as he leans down against Anni. His fingers brush back wintery locks as he pushes back loose strands with a touch so delicate it seemed like he could break her with even an ounce more of force, "C'mon, Cass, you can hangout with her later when she isn't asleep." Cassie quickly hopped into Vince's arms as he pressed a chaste kiss against Anni's forehead.
That night, as soon as she woke up, even before opening her eyes, Anni tried to hug the kid that had sat by her side. A grunt escaped her lips once she noticed the couch was empty. She groaned in protest, softly kicking the couch as she did so. A few seconds later, the smell of vanilla filled her senses, and she finally opened your eyes. Coloring books and crayons were laying scattered on the floor and now that she realized it, there was noise coming from the kitchen. The first steps towards the kitchen, and she realized how intense that undeniable smell of delicious breakfast had smelled— though she was confused on why anyone would cook breakfast at night.
Anni walked to the kitchen and even if she knew she would find Vince there, seeing him wearing a red apron, his button up shirt with slick rolled up sleeves. The little smudge of flour on his face was adorable and Anni was tempted to smudge it off herself. He was focused on flipping a pancake, and continually giving Cassie more pancakes to eat. So he didn’t notice how she lingered in the kitchen, her confused expression quickly melted as she smiled.
“A photo will last longer,” Vince smirked, his eyes still fixed on the kitchen as he poured more batter on the pan. She smiled at him.
“What's all this?”
“Cass was hungry, and I just cooked up a lil somethin', no big deal.”
“God, you're such a dilf.” Anni teased, walking to him and pressing a kiss on his shoulder. Her arms wrapped his waist tenderly.
“I'm a— what?,” Vince's expression twisted into confusion, earning a soft smack on his back.
“Red suits you,” Anni complimented him, changing subjects. He smirked and turned his head, only then noticing that she pressed a chaste kiss against his shoulder once again— earning a little blush from him.

Your blog is so sweet and I love your writing a lot <33 Can I request Warrior's reaction to Zeke bringing child Eren once for work? I don’t know if people do this usually but my dad took me with him to work once!
