hi ardate :] this is a bit late but, since i did it, i might as well introduce her now in this post

for my april fool's day joke, i did a little trick on the find everything discord server where i made a handful of screenshots showing a new (fake) character:

this is Myla Warper, a Whatsit Woods NPC

i don't have much on her at the moment, and i suspect a lot about her lore will become obsolete when 0.3 comes around, but essentially, she's an engineer and the inventor of the Warp, the in-game fast travel system. she spends a lot of time at home, but is getting out a little more, using the Warp and a range of mobility aids

she managed to trick a few folks (which, looking at how the first find everything hoax, wouldn't've been a hard thing to pull off) but, shortly after - though, in retrospect, it could've been left revealed until the end of the day, i revealed the prank with:

anyway, i'll put the fake screenshots under the cut and maybe post Myla concepts in a reblog :] + notes. there'll be notes. i've got notes

i don't remember when exactly i conceptualised Myla, but it might've been between when 0.2 was released and when the developers streamed their 0.2 launch stream a few days later. this is because i had this thought of Myla living in that old abandoned house, working away at her tech (in the early stages, Myla's outfit in my mind would be a the classic tanktop and half-worn jumpsuit where the top half was tied around her waist, you know the look), but obviously had to be just a fun scrapped idea when it was discussed on the stream that Old Man Majig lives there

still, Myla being hidden away in this corner of Whatsit Woods is reminiscent of that idea i guess. it is also just a very good spot for something you could've missed, especially since the community had been combing through save files looking for the second fun value, but it does sort of make her following dialogue a little strange as she's not near any Warp pads

this bit is meant to, like, mirror dialogue from "tutorial NPCs" who casually introduce new concepts to the player. having worked hard on drawing Illie last year for Halloween, i had her a lot in mind, with Illie also being a tutorial NPC. looked over her 5 lines of dialogue a lot to try and get the vibe down right (of course, she wasn't the only one, but she was the main one) .. i can wrap my head around the Find Everything art style, but writing stuff that matches the FE vibe got me stumped so i hope it didnt stand out all that much

originally, those first two lines where different and. stiffer for a long while ("I actually make a few Warp Drives myself!"/"Er… Let's not be humble, maybe more than a few. Maybe all of 'em."), but i think it worked out in the end. the very first bit of dialogue was also changed ("Hey there, blockling! Just on a walk.") to just be combined with the next line but i just really wanted to preserve that "blockling" here. i know it's just the species name of like. the Roblox character, but it also reads as a little endearing term to me

ahh, the reason why i sort of thought up Myla in the first place. see, a big contention in the find everything community is Whatsit Woods being the only major area in the game without a Warp Drive, despite there already being Warp pads by its entrances in two neighbouring areas. the lack of a Whatsit Woods Warp is very likely to be changed with the 0.3 map rework, but i always thought this (and the Construction Zone Warp.. ) discourse was stupid. Myla going "No. Why? I live here." is like. cathartic to me.(??)

but regardless, she and Watcher Macallit are kind of ocs born from asking "why is this the way it is?" why is there no Whatsit Warp Drive? what makes a Thing a Thing? just ocs to play with and sort of expand worldbuilding, and i love doing this

Hi there! I've seen your gifs around before and liked/reblogged plenty, but now that I'm actually starting to make more gifs myself, I'm even MORE impressed by the gorgeous quality of yours. I have a MILLION questions, such as: What are your secrets? What program do you use? How do you keep them looking so un-pixelated? How do you get them to retain such high quality even after tumblr processes them???? Do you know witchcraft? You don't have to answer, but you have my undying admiration!

oh dear, i'm so sorry this reply is so late! wow, thank you so much for this sweet ask! i really appreciate it - i work hard on those silly little gifs! 🥺 i'll do my best to answer:

i use Photoshop 2023 (🏴‍☠️)

i've downloaded all the episodes (🏴‍☠️) at a decent resolution - at least 1080p, though I'm sure you could get some really spectacular gifs if you splurged on the super HD ones. i just didn't care enough to have such big files on my computer!

i use VLC to open the video file, then use the record feature to clip the section I want to gif. the import feature on photoshop can be a little fiddly, so I typically give myself a few buffer seconds at the beginning and end of each video to make sure I got what I wanted.

i was about to start typing up a guide here, then I realized I'd already written down my gif method for a friend here! feel free to check it out! It's the Video Frames to Layers > Timeline > Smart Object method which I think is the most popular with most gifmakers these days, so most modern tumblr gif tutorials should line up with it if you need to reference another guide.

make sure to correctly resize your gifs! full-width gifs should be 540 px. check here for more resolutions if you're doing a full photoset. if you make your gif too large or too small, it will look either blurry or crunchy.

if you are brand new to gif making, your first few gifs will probably be bad. this is okay and totally normal! it'll get easier and faster with time just like anything else!

the left had me thinking sooo bad cus like. if u think about it as a time loop with a possibilities for countless other timelines its like. wow another young wizard. a different young wizard. was here... did they make it... die they die....

i guess you can count "fainting" in battle as something of a reset... which could explain repeating dialogue. but canon is fun to play around with >_^

had another hot dyke who fucks adventure last night where within seconds of meeting each other this breathtakingly beautiful other trans girl and i were leaning in to each other to keep my arm wrapped around her waist all night until we could hook up on the back stairwell of the building. the rawness of the word "attractive" or "attraction" felt emphasized in my mind that night by how from both light touches to making out and biting, it was like we literally couldn't keep our hands off of each other. you would have needed a crowbar. just. ohhhh my god. wow.

it was also so funny because when two of my friends realized i was hooking up out on the stairwell while she was in the bathroom, they came out and basically trapped me on the stairs to both make out with me themselves and make fun of me for being caught very obviously hooking up and so i was in one of their laps while the other one was over me and pinning me with her leg and it WOULD have been really hot but i could NOT stop laughing because literally all i could think about was the homoerotic bullying stock image photoset

Accomplishments! Quantum Break fansite in progress!

Well, I removed Tumblr from my phone to prevent me from wasting so much time there, which means I now have nowhere to easily and quickly post my inane thoughts (at least not without feeling like I'm bothering people on Discord or in direct messages, though perhaps that's something I should work on). You know what that means! It means I'm probably going to try posting them here instead. Thing I want to post about: I'm making a Quantum Break fansite! I've been wanting to do this for ages, and actually started putting together a couple of little graphics for it during the "Quantum Break Appreciation Month" event I ran on Tumblr in April, but I hadn't made much progress on the project since then... until the past few days, anyway, when I started brainstorming what I actually want to do with the site, how I want to lay it out, and so on. Yesterday I put together some CSS for the site, and today I did The Hard Part: I set up a git/GitHub repo for the site, and got the "deploy to neocities" script working for it, so I can easily and quickly make updates to the site in VSCode, then push from there to GitHub to neocities all at once, like I do with my personal site. Was this an absolute pain to set up? Yes! Somehow, it took me even longer to do it a second time than it did the first! But I did it myself, with a lot of encouragement and rubber duck-ing from a few very helpful people in the Fandom Coders chat. Can't say I'm not proud of myself for that. I would not have had the skill or confidence a year ago to do something like this, especially not all the mucking about I did in the terminal trying to set up the git repo in the first place. Anyway, I am, to put it mildly, extremely fucking excited to continue working on this site. I've got big plans: first order of business is to get an archive set up of all the Quantum Break fanfic I can get my hands on (and get permission from the authors for). After that, I'm probably going to do the same for fanart and image edits like photosets and gifsets from Tumblr, since the CSS page styling for those will likely be similar (though I expect to run into some attribution problems with older Tumblr posts, what with so many deactivated or moved blogs post-2018). Once that's sorted out, I'm considering looking into the best way to archive fanvids, but honestly that might be put off for a while longer, as video hosting and video players are way out of my skill level currently. Maybe I'll import some of my Quantum Break playlists from my personal site, too? Oh yeah, and at some point down the line, I want to make a searchable wiki with transcripts of all the in-game narrative objects. But "searchable" is probably going to be a stumbling point there, and transcribing takes ages, so this will be last priority, I think. Wow, that's... a lot, actually! Damn! This is gonna take a while. Not that I mind spending a couple of years poking at a project, obviously. *Gestures at my longfic that took four years to finish...* I've been neck deep in this fandom for over seven years, what's another five or ten? XP

btw, since it's fairly easy to post images on tumblr (compared to dreamwidth, anyway), here's a screenshot of the section that's currently in progress: the fic archive index!

(ignore my filler text... i usually use karkalicious as my lorem ipsum, so at least i'm not committing THAT particular crime here.)

i'm still futzing around a little with the styling (negative margin my beloathed) but it's coming along pretty well! i've already got a branch where i've started... you know, actually adding fic to the site, but i won't merge that into the main and add a link to the front page until the style problems have been fixed (or at least, fixed enough to be easily navigable on mobile, which... is not the case right now, lolrip).

Wow didn’t think i’d get this far. *clears throat*

1: how did i get into Toku. Well, it was a mixture of watching “history of power rangers” and searching tv tropes. My first attempts at watching stuff were Gaim and Liveman.

But for how Properly: i’d tried for years to watch a show in full and really sink my teeth in and pretty much failed to finish anything but Liveman which even then took years, or in Rider’s case failed utterly to finish, and then my ex ghosted me as a friend, and i was stuck at work feeling bored, and lonely one day waiting for my ride, i was thinking about how i enjoyed reading about people’s reactions to ex aid. -along with it being in my thoughts for various reasons <like it’s insert songs > as it had recently ended, and i’d enjoyed ex aid 1-8. It had also seemed like a good way to try and make friends. So I Went and Binged Ex-Aid 8-45 <and Dr Pacman > over the course of that labour day weekend. Worth it.

And then a year later while streaming and being out of stuff in english To Stream i pulled another friend in with OOO and we binged through it, and Fourze. Finished Gaim too that way.

2: what was the first show i watched:

Well since i partially answered above: Gaim and Liveman were my first attempts at their respective franchises, Liveman took me about 3? Years on my own, plus i’d both skipped a few eps and had to speed up the last few eps due to having work the next day (it is still one of my fav sentai and i have watched it multiple times since, please watch it). Gaim i don’t know how many eps i got through but put off due to wanting to use it for exercise. Yeah that didn’t work.

Now for Ultra: Ultraman Orb. Fun fact i hadn’t realized it was only 25 episodes because usually the toku i’d encountered or looked into -and Doctor who, were all Much longer. until literally ep 18. So: “man how are they going to top this we’re only half way”. *checks* “huh where’s the rest” “oh shit”

i like Orb. It’s a fun little show.

Other Toku:

Garo: season 1. Tried to do a halloween watch and didn’t finish. Tried again later and couldn’t get into it-and then when in a situ where i could’ve. Had to miss most of the season.

I have however finished the first season of the Ryuga timeline. Started slow but really did pick up, thanks @flaim-ita looking forward to more goldstorm.

Other toku in geneal: Kaiketsu Zubat.

I’d seen clips and photosets because of how insane Zubat was and had been curious, and then Toei’s youtube put the first two episodes up. And: the first episode of Kaiketsu Zubat is Insane. You do not understand if you have not seen it.

5: favorite main hero:

For Rider: Tendou. Ultra: Riku. Other: Ken Hayakawa, and Taisei High School Heroes. <and i haven’t finished it but Mako Dogengers high school

Sentai: the Liveman Trio but for Red’s in general. -yeah probably Yusuke from Liveman if i’m being honest when i think about it, but Momoi Taro has been up there. i just am waiting to see if it’s recency bias talking or not.

8: favourite series:

Kabuto for Rider. Donbrothers right now if it sticks the landing for Sentai, Gokaiger or Jetman if not.

Geed for Ultra. and for Other Toku: Kaiketsu Zubat.

I can’t stop thinking abt that rb bait and your answer abt what character you associate w/ me. and while I can go on and on abt how I feel abt the Todd comparison (flattered and sobbing and shaking and-), what I’m actually referring to is “or maybe im just begging to be read idk”.

I have genuinely lost sleep just thinking abt that sentence. because maybe you are? maybe I am, and that’s why it feels so good to have it spelled out by someone else? im still not sure what the answer is, but I’ll take a fucking stab at it! (warning, this is being written after an 8 hour shift, on the back of 2 hours of sleep. vaguely incoherent rambling ahead)

let’s consider that we do make ourselves into books, pages splayed open in hopes that someone might take a second to read the scripture written there.

what’s the harm in that? that someone reads your book and doesn’t like it? that one day, someone will come along and read with fervor? delicately turning each page to get even the tiniest details of you tucked into the back of their mind?

to be read, it’s something good I think. if you choose it to be. if you do, in fact, want to be read.

and if you do, I think that’s great. I also think it’s a human trait. something we can all relate to at one point or another. whether you want to be deeply understood by one singular person, or understood by a group, to foster a sense of community. it’s so undeniably human to want connection and understanding and love.

something I think we have to acknowledge as well is the fact that you’re an artist. as an artist myself, I feel emboldened to say that all art is, is a means of connection. it’s saying, “yes, this is me. this is how I feel. this is how I love and how I hate. do you feel like this too? am I alone?” it’s a plea. “tell me I’m not alone”, and you aren’t. somewhere, at sometime, there will be someone who takes your art (be it a book, a painting, a song, etc.) and understands. understands the weight, the gravity, of your feelings so wholly that it takes them aback.

and hey, do you remember that photoset you rebloged abt Ethan Hawke? the one where he’s talking abt poetry? abt how art isn’t a luxury, but rather that it’s sustenance? these things we consume, that make you feel like we’re not so alone, that’s what makes us so, so human.

so do you want to be read? do I? probably. but who’s to say that’s a bad thing?

i think it maybe ties into that terrible human want to be seen and understood . sure its one thing to be noticed but another to be known, and i think taking the time to Read someone is all the more mortifying but i think its also because of that swinging pendulum of whether or not itll come to heal or haunt u, right ? yes yes i think so

also the mentioning of being an artist, ohh that reminds me so much of this one quote !!! i read it in passing and it goes along the lines of "shame is the opposite of art" and u know what . i think that somehow relates because sure theres this embarrassment at being seen but also the hope that someone else sees what u've made and goes Wow me too !

She caught his eye from across the way. He was leaning against a column, looking at her curiously.

Used to men staring at her, she quirked a brow at him and he shook his head slightly, looking away. His cheeks were pink from embarrassment. She found that a little endearing. Usually men didn't give a shit if they were caught ogling her.

Amanda is enthusiastically greeted by her friend Lara with a kiss on the cheek and a friendly hug. Over Lara's shoulder, she spots the tall man again. He's turned slightly and she takes the opportunity to study his side profile, her interest piqued. A quick glance to his hands to check for a wedding ring and she's excited to find it bare. His hair is gray, but she likes the silver fox look. Face clean shaven, body lean and a lopsided, closed mouth smile.

"How are you liking the gallery so far? Isn't it neat?" Lara interrupted her thoughts and Amanda tried to focus on her friend. "Find any pieces you like?"

"I like most of 'em," she answered with a small shrug. Her first time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City was uneventful, as she wasn't the biggest fan of art pieces. Though she chalked it up to never having been to a real museum like this and her parent's lack of interest in taking her and her sister anywhere cultured.

Her friend Lara dragged her here with a promise to return her to her hometown in Georgia "a sophisticated lady." She had scoffed at that, but agreed to go, glad to have a reason to dress up nicely.

With it being her last night in New York, she wanted to have a nice dinner and then maybe a bar afterwards with a group of her friends from college. They had been at the museum for nearly an hour and she was ready to go. She could use a drink after another full day of activity. She was really dreading the flight home tomorrow.

"Hey," Lara told her, taking her out of her thoughts. Her friend probably sensed her discomfort by the way she had her arms crossed, but really she was just chilly. "Let's go say goodbye to Steven and then we can get an early dinner. Sound good?"

Amanda nodded, smiling pleasantly as Lara began to lead her over to a friend of hers she had been introduced to earlier. Catching the gaze of the stranger again, she watched him curiously this time. He doesn't look away, even goes so far as to send her a small, friendly grin, dimples in his cheeks. She thought he was damn adorable.

She briefly wished she was alone so she could approach him without ditching her friend.

She watched him try and smoothly break their gaze by pretending to be interested in a painting nearby. She let out a laugh as he placed his large hand on his chin, feigning contemplation on the artwork. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, seeing her smile flirtatiously at him. He swore his heart jumped at the sight.

She was beautiful. Sexy in every way. Her long legs were accentuated by red heels. She wore a white dress that complimented her figure and hugged her curves. His eyes didn't miss the plunging neckline either. Her hair was golden, styled on her head and flowing in waves down her back. She was elegant, classy, and had a smile as bright as the sun.

Noticing that she seemed to be leaving with a girl friend, he felt himself moving toward the exit. He hoped to have some sort of interaction with her, somehow.

He found her outside the museum, shivering, her friend nowhere to be found. Taking a deep breath, he casually walked up to her.

"Hi," he said, trying not to sound too eager. He was shoulder to shoulder to her, though she was a tad bit shorter than him in the heels.

She glanced up at him, a surprised look on her face. He felt his own face flush at the delighted smile on her lips. She detected an accent from him, a smidge different from the regular New York one she had been hearing for days. "Hi," she said.

She had a deep southern accent. It may have been the first time he ever thought it was adorable. He may already be a little biased, though.

"Did you friend ditch you?" He looked around and didn't find the other woman she had been with.

"Nah, she's still inside," she said, gesturing behind her to the building. "Ran into someone. I told her I'd wait out here."

He smirked at her slightly bouncing in place, clearly freezing. "Ya regrettin' that?"

"I'm fine," Amanda defended, rocking on her heels now.

Sonny found himself taking off his jacket and offering it to her. She raised both eyebrows so high, he almost laughed.

"Thanks, but you're a stranger."

He held the jacket over one arm, holding out his hand to her. "I'm Dominick, nice to meet you."

When she took his hand and shook it, she shivered for a different reason. His hold was light, hand warm, his eyes gentle and soft on hers. "Amanda."

Letting go of her hand, he offered his jacket again with a dimpled grin. "Now we're not strangers. Take it while you wait, it's fine."

She still looked doubtful but she did grab it. She was shivering in front of this handsome man and it was embarrassing. "I didn't know it could be so cold in April." As she slipped the large jacket over her shoulders, she gave him a look. "Sure you're not a serial killer?"

At his nod, she left the jacket on, eyeing his professional suit underneath. His blue tie had polka dots on it and she got the sense that he wasn't like the guys she was usually attracted to. "I'm a criminal prosecutor."

Impressed, she lifted a brow again. "So you've been in the room with serial killers?"

He laughed and she found herself mesmerized with the sight of his eyes crinkling. "Not very much, I usually prosecute sex crimes."

"Oh, wow," she said in surprise, "that's gotta be a damn hard job."

"It is," he said honestly. "What do you do?"

She tugged his jacket closer to her, smelling the cologne inside of it. "I'm a social worker. I help kids in difficult domestic situations at home. Among other things."

Her eyes held something dark in them, he noticed, as she told him this information and he thought maybe she could find the same darkness in his. She stepped closer to him, excusing it for the body heat and not the way he smelled and the way he looked at her. Like she was something more. As if she could offer something more than just a body.

"That's incredible," he smiled, "you must be a hero to those kids."

She shook her head humbly. "They're amazing kids. It's wonderful to see kids in awful situations thrive despite the odds against them."

Amanda couldn't believe she was opening up in any way to this man. A stranger, no less. But she figured he could understand, as he's probably seen troublesome things in his own line of work.

"Anyway," she tried to lighten the subject, "back home people don't believe in these kids enough. I want to help them as much as I can."

Smiling softly at her, he asked, "where's home?"

"Georgia," she answered, waving her hand, "small town."

"Amanda!" A voice called out and she turned to see Lara waving at her from the entrance, the person she had been talking to still at her side. Amanda waved back and turned her attention back to Dominick.

"I think she wants me over there," she told him. She started sliding the jacket off but he stopped her.

"Keep it," he said, "I have plenty, trust me."

"Oh, no, I'll be fine," she reassured. He was about to tell her again not to worry about it when her friend walked up.

"Hey," Lara said, looking him up and down. "Who's this?"

"Lara, this is Dominick," Amanda introduced, "we kinda just met."

"Oh," Lara blinked, then when she realized Amanda was wearing the man's jacket, the woman's eyes widened. "Oh!"

"Yeah," Amanda deadpanned, slightly amused. Lara caught the hint Amanda was giving with her eyes and gestured back to her friend. "I'm gonna - forgot to tell them something."

Dominick watched her friend walk away, also amused. He didn't catch Amanda taking something out of her red wallet.

"Hey, so," Amanda said, capturing his attention again. Her eyes were gorgeous. Light, bright pools of blue he could drown in. "I'm actually leaving for Georgia tomorrow."

Ah, damn.

He couldn't even pretend to hide his disappointment. He really thought he might have had a chance with her. Or at least even one date.

"But," she said, pressing her lips together to keep from smiling at his obvious disappointment. "I'll be coming back for a visit pretty soon. Maybe you can show me around?"

Grinning widely at her, Dominick enthusiastically agreed. Amanda could feel butterflies swarm inside her at his excitement. She had never encountered a man quite like him before.

"Amanda, you ready?" Lara called again, from a distance, this time alone. Amanda sighed as she had to part with him, wanting to know more about him but she had made plans already with others.

"It was great meetin' you," she told him in her charming accent.

"Yeah," he stumbled over his words, not quite ready to let her go yet. But he knew he had to. "Yeah, definitely."

She smiled brightly again, taking his jacket off and handing it to him. He took it numbly. "Call me." He watched her walk away, hips swaying, heels clacking against the pavement as her and a friend got into a cab further down the street.

It wasn't until she was out of his sight that he realized he didn't have her number. Cursing to himself, he pinched the bridge of his nose. Why didn't he get her last name? Why?

How many Amanda's in Georgia could there be?

Grumbling, completely irritated, and feeling like a moron, he put his jacket back on. He harshly shoved his hands in his pockets when he felt something in his left pocket. Taking it out, he noticed with extreme delight it was a business card.

Amanda Rollins - Social worker. With a phone number at the bottom.

He smiled.

Doyoung posted a story on his IG with the comment "I can't not love you".

- Of course JaeDo tag trended worldwide.

- A kfan comments how the photo with both a heart and Do's face was chosen from his IG post.

- The blue sweater is from Doyoung's playlist content for 127's day, a few pictures were used to congratulate Do with his BD on the official NCT IG, including the one printed for the track.

- The picture with flowers is from Universe (Let's play ball) photoset.

Smart ass Jaehyun.

- The title of the drama is "To X Who Doesn’t Love Me". Siho is one of those X (I think). So he made a joke about that.

- Jae made a pun with "Siho" name, he changed the endings to this name in the text on the coffee cup paper belts.

- "Doyoung who loves me" is also how Jaehyun referenced Doyoung in the past. He was asked by a fan during one FM why he likes Doyoung, Jae replied "he looks like a bunny, he has a nice voice, he loves me".

- The churros that the actress who posted about the food truck holds weren't on the original menu (the one you can see in the window). Jaehyun added it.

Churros are important. It's what Doyoung likes and it was what JaeDo bought when they had their non-dates during trainee times.
