The Lizard

Today I stepped on a lizard.

I didn't feel it under my gigantic boots.

My friend, next to me, pointed it out.

When I looked down, I could see it: Small, fragile. Sprawled on the ground. Dead. A small bit of red staining the brick floor, what must have been its brains.

How fragile life is, I thought to myself, remembering all the little lizards I've seen before. Sprinting effortlessly in-between my feet, dodging any and all danger in sight.

Even fast little lizards can't live forever, I suppose.

The Lizard was so small. I didn't feel it under my gigantic boots.

It lived a small life, and it died a small death. But I shouldn't be sad.

Its death will be as glorious as its life.

Like a whale-fall in the deep ocean, it too, will sustain the life around it. Its body, helpless to the hungry mouths around it, will feed the living.

Small birds, small ants, and even teeny-tiny microbes. They will feast. And they will live. And they will die.

And their bodies will turn into food for others, restarting the beautiful cycle of life and death.

So I won't be sad.

Nature will move on.

For Christmas, Scott got Beauty one of those personalized stamps for books that say “From the Library of Beauty Lincoln”

Omygosh Scott - I've always wanted one of these! And the first book I'm gonna stamp is YOURS.

Then my favorites. All my Tolkien books and 'Gone With the Wind', and any book that has to do with the Arthur legend. I've even got some Stephen King books because he's an amazing storyteller; the not too scary ones, though. The grand tales that show good overcoming evil (like in 'The Stand' and the Dark Tower novels).

And for you, something I love to give to the people who mean the most to me. A platter of homemade cookies and fudge!

Back from Ant Man!

Can’t understand why this movie is getting bad reviews. Yes it’s a lot of green screen but it makes up for it with it’s character moments. It is Jonathan Majors who steals the show though as Kang, a A villain who is worthy of being the next big bad of the franchise of course. Seriously took Thanos several movies to become the threat that Kang took in one! On the Ant Man front, it  really shows Scott’s love for his daughter, a running thread through all of three movies.
