At first, you two were hanging out on his garage, doing dumb stuff and not caring, then he said "let's break into the school's pool" and you said yes. It was exciting, just the two of you breaking the chains of your high school and like that, you were right in front of the pool. Everything would be dark if it wasn't because of the lights that came from the low of the pool.
"Oh my, we forgot swimsuits," you said slapping your forehead.
"Why we need them?" he looked at you with a smile and stripped himself into his underwear.
He threw himself onto the pool and gave you a gently hand to get into the water, with that adorable smile. You were a little self concious about entering with your underwear but at the end you did, and took his hand into the cold water.
"Are you shivering?" he asked you laughing.
"No, of course not, idiot."
You splashed him jokingly and suddently you started a water war. It was very funny, like time wasn't passing at all, each moment your bodies getting closer with the excuse of making the other one wetter.
At some point he wrapped you around his arms trying to made you stop, but neither of you could stop laughing, but his face was closer every second he twisted you with his arms. That little fight made the noise outside go unnoticed.
"What we have here?" suddently the door slammed open and an incredible amount of people entered the pool room, that voice was from Spider, "Man, you weren't answering my calls, i though you were dead, but when i tracked your phone and saw where you were i couldn't resist."
Now your relaxed oasis was full of people, drinking, partying and making noise. You didn't have the courage to get outside of the water and Ant was dragged with Spider. Now you are alone.
You spotted Amerie, Darren and the rest of your group and tried to get their attention. Once they saw you, help was provided and you finally had a towel to cover you up and went outside the pool. The next couple of hours you were with them, trying to ignore the fact that Spider ruined a beautiful moment. You couldn't talk anymore to Ant but you noticed his gaze on you.
"The police is here!!!!!" that was the sound of chaos, everyone started running and screaming.
Many people ended up on the pool trying to escape and you almost did that if it weren't for Ant's hand catching you. You two started to run and the towel fell off, you couldn't care less at that moment. The escape went for a couple of miles, until you didn't hear the sirens of the police anymore and you were sure you were alone.
That's when you realized the absence of the towel and tried to cover your body. Ant was fast thinking for once and got out his shirt to put it directly on you.
"Thanks," you said nervously.
"Nah, don't worry, it looks better on you." both of you smiled.
His hand went to you face and carresed slowly your cheek, his lips met yours in a sweet kiss.
"I've been wanting to do this all afternoon."
"Yeah, me too, but Spider..."
"Don't talk about him right now, you want to take a walk and find a nice place to seat and finish our hang out finally?"
"I would like it very much, but maybe i should go by my house before because i don't have pants right now."
"Nah, you look very good like that, but i can give you mine if you want."
His hand interlaced with yours as you two started walking down the street and laugh at Ant's jokes.

Totally Fake | Ant Vaughn x reader (Heartbreak High) ||
This is officially a series haha, trying to make it slowburn-ish but let's see if i can hold myself back
Fake dating, fem!reader
@foxxyhun
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Tumblr media
Thankfully you had managed to get Ant’s number by Friday, not so thankfully you spent all day chatting with him about stupid, irrelevant stuff and Not about what your gameplan was going to be. And if, IF, you were actually going to the party later this evening, he’d probably be too wasted to talk about it anyway.  Which means SLUTS was the last chance you had with him still sober and not hungover. Except you had no idea how to go about it, especially without drawing the attention of your friends who had been watching you like hawks all week. You were the first one in the classroom, anxiously ripping your notebook paper into tiny shreds while thinking about all the logistics. You didn’t get very far when you sensed someone sitting down next to you. “What did the poor paper do to deserve that?” Ant asked amusedly. “Wrong place, wrong time.” You grimaced and shrugged, immediately stopping and throwing all the paper shreds into your pencil case. “Oh no, don’t stop because of me, I’m sure it deserved it.” He joked before settling in his seat. “You don’t wanna sit next to your friends?” You asked, with a nod to the table they usually sat at. “Nah, I’d rather sit with my girlfriend.” He said casually. You didn’t feel very casual as you choked on your spit. God how embarrassing. It took you a minute to calm down, Ant worriedly asking if you were okay, and offering you some of his water, which you declined with a hand gesture as you were starting to calm down.  “Sorry, sorry, I’m fine.” You coughed out. “Actually, that’s what I’ve been wanting to talk to you about.” He looked at you, almost disappointed, “You’re backing out?” He assumed. “What? No!” You hurried to say. “I wanted to talk about lining up our stories and everything, ground rules and stuff, you know?” Relief flooded his face, “Ah, okay gotcha!” He seemed much happier. The class was slowly filling up and you were dreading the moment your friends would enter. “Well I already told pretty much everyone that you’re my girlfriend.” He added, catching you completely offguard as you watched the doorway waiting for the inevitable arrival of your friends. “Oh.” Surprised you turned your head to look at him. “Okay.” You added after a second. “What about your mom?”
“Nah, not her yet. But like, Spider and Dusty.” He clarified. Your face felt warm. “Did you tell them it was fake too?” You leaned in closer to whisper it, now that the class was almost full. “No.” He grinned at you conspiringly. You grinned back at him, his answer, and the way he looked at you, making your whole body tingle. “Oh. My. God.” Darrens dramatic voice came from opposite the table. “You two totally ARE together.” Amerie beside them looked satisfied with herself, while Quinni stimmed excitedly, jumping up and down and clapping her hands. They sat down at your table while Ant put an arm around your shoulder, “Yeah, so what?” He asked. Your face was burning, as was the parts where his arm touched you. Darrens mouth wide agape, while Quinni looked just as excited as before. “Oh my god, y/n, that’s so cute!! Congrats!” She said, happily, but after a second she looked a little less happy and a little more confused. Disappointed, even. “But why didn’t you tell us?” She asked. “Thrill of a secret relationship I bet.” Amerie added, feeling much cooler than she actually was. “But really, him?” Darren pointed at Ant. Wow rude. Your brows furrowed and you leaned into the boy next to you a little more without noticing. “What do you mean? You don’t think he's cute?” Trying to paddle back Darren stuttered out something a long the lines of, “No, that’s not what I mean, I just, I didn’t think he was your type is all.” “well, to be fair, we never knew what her type was.” Quinni added. “She never told us who she was crushing on, or what she liked in a guy, or girl.” You nodded, she was telling the truth, you usually kept things like that to yourself. “Well, I for one, am happy for you two, though I totally didn’t get any vibes when I was asking for a slap band earlier this week.” Amerie said, crossing her arms. She sounded accusing, like she was about to interrogate the two of you, when thankfully Miss Obah asked everyone to pay attention and started class. Ant didn’t take his arm off your shoulder the whole time.
When he finally did, after class ended, you couldn’t suppress your pout. Logically, you understood it was so both of you could pack your things, but this whole thing didn’t feel very logical, no matter how hard you tried. So instead, once both of you had finished, you grabbed his hand and threaded your fingers with his. Still slightly pouting. He looked down at you and laughed, “What now?” “I think she’s upset you took your arm off of her.” Darren, eagle-eyed gossip lover they are, supplied. “Oh, really?” Ant seemed surprised and looked at you for confirmation. “Yeah, kinda.” You mumbled embarrassed, avoiding his gaze. He chuckled before leaning in close and whispering in your ear. “I’ll touch you all you want at the party later.” Your face was beet red. “Ant!” You whisper shouted, scandalized and wide-eyed. He just tugged you along with him, towards the school exit. “They’re so cute together.” You overheard Quinni say to Amerie and Darren behind you. “Something’s fishy.” Both of them replied in unison. You ignored it, keeping going with Ant. “What now?” You asked once outside the school gate, still holding his hand. Refusing to be the one to let go, actually. “Well, I have some time before the party starts, which, you totally are going to right?” He asked in such a way that you felt a no would break his heart, so you just nodded. How come you are immune to peer-pressure when it was your friends but not when it was the guy you’ve been fake-dating for less than a week. “Great! Well, wanna hang out until then?” You smiled. “Sure!! Oh, we can talk about the logistics of it all, like when did we even start dating and what church do I go to? Or is that even something that’s important to your mother?” You dragged him along, totally rambling at this point about all the different things you had to decide on for the story to be foolproof. When you turned to look at him, waiting for him to say something, you noticed the way he was smiling at you. “Oh, what? Am I overthinking?” You questioned out loud. “No, no, it’s fine. I just don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk that much.” He still looked at you in a way you had trouble deciphering. “Oh. Well, I guess I don’t talk a lot. Usually. But also we haven’t really spoken before this week so…” You trailed off. “Hmmh, yeah, but we’ve been in the same year for a while now.” He said, before turning back to look at the way ahead. “You usually only talk when spoken to.” Oh. He had noticed that? He had noticed you? Before you ever talked to him? “Oh, um. I guess that’s right.” You squeezed his hand subconsciously. “I like hearing you talk.” He squeezed your hand back. “Plus, you’re so smart, I wouldn’t have thought about half of the things you mentioned. Maybe we should write it all down.” You nodded. “Yeah, good idea.”
“Woah, your room is awesome.”  Ant was currently walking through your room looking at all the little trinkets that were… everywhere frankly. Picking them up and putting them down again. “Haha, thanks.” You sat on the edge of your bed, not knowing what to do with yourself as you watched him. “Woah, you like Marvel?” He seemed genuinely surprised. “Uh yeah, I love it.” You laughed. He put the action figure down and turned around, very serious all of a sudden. “This calls for a movie night.” He explained. You grinned. “Sure, I’m always up for a movie.. But let’s talk business first.” You scooched to the side and patted the spot next to you. He groaned dramatically and walked over before sitting down. “Why does this feel like homework all of a sudden.” Your face scrunched up at that. “Sorry. But this is just so our story doesn’t fall apart.” He turned to look at you, head hanging to the side. “You really think it’s necessary?” “Well. Yeah.” You reply. “What if your mom asks us how we met, our what our first date was, and we say different things. Better to be prepared.” He pouts playfully, “Well, fine I guess.” In the end you agree on simple things, you met at school, duh, and worked a project together, after which you became friends, before Ant asked you on a date to the diner, and then a second date to the movies, before asking you to be his girlfriend. Easy enough. He said it was okay not to go to church as long as you were still acting Christian enough in front of his mom. Whatever that means. The reason he was only introducing you now was because you could disprove what was written on the map. You were scared of meeting his parents, so it had taken you a while to gather the courage, and he wanted to be sure before bringing a girlfriend home. Easy. Plausible. Good story. Boring, but believable. In the end you wrote it all down, twice, one copy for you and one for him, just in case you needed it. “Can we finally watch a movie?” He whined as you gave him his paper. “I don’t know, the party is soon, and I don’t know about you, but I definitely have to get ready. You think we can manage to squeeze a movie in?” He nodded, completely convinced. “How long can it take to get ready.” Not believing this was an issue. “Oh buddy…If only you knew.” You patted his shoulder before getting your remote and turning on the tv. It was difficult, at first, to concentrate on the movie, when he was so close and warm, shoulder against shoulder, and legs touching. Your body felt on fire. After a while he wrapped his arm around you too, pulling you ever so slightly closer, if that was even possible.
“Oh! I love this part.” He pointed towards the screen with the hand not resting on your hip. “What? No way, that’s my favorite part.” You looked up at him excitedly. “No way!” He turned to look at you too. You nodded emphatically. “You’re so cool.” He gave you a squeeze. He turned back towards the screen, and you did too, after staring at him for a little while longer. In the end, he ended up staying, watching you get ready, since there was no time for him to go home before Dusty’s band performed. “Whoa, wait, what is that?” You were about to put on your fake lashes, putting glue on the strip when Ant’s head popped up next to you, dangerously close to poking your lash with his finger. “My fake lashes.” You explained. “Your lashes are fake?” He turned to you, staring intensely into your eyes, inspecting your lashes. “No, well yes, sometimes. I have real lashes. The one you’re looking at right now.” You laughed. “But sometimes I put on fake lashes, which looks kinda-“ You  leaned towards the mirror to put your lashes on. “like this.” You said, leaning back to show him. “Oh my god that’s crazy.” He breathed out, totally stunned, which made you laugh even harder. After that he stayed next to you, watching you apply your makeup closely. “Hmmm..” You pursed your lips as you put the last thing in place. “I think that’s it.” You concluded.  Before you could even turn to the side to face him, his voice piped up as he asked: “Can you put some on me?” The request came unexpectedly, but you happily obliged. You opted for some chrome glimmery dark blue green ish, you didn’t really know how to describe it, glitter shadow to put on top of his eyelids. Dabbing it in softly, he leaned in closely and you could feel his breath on your skin. “Okay, try opening your eyes.” You requested softly, holding his chin in your hand and looking at him intensely, assessing your work. He opened his eyes hesitantly. Chewing on your lip you came to the conclusion that this look needed some black liner, so you added a line underneath his eyes on his waterline, dragging it out into a straight “wing”. A difficult job, with this being a sensitive area and Ant not used to having stuff put this close to his eyes. He kept squirming and blinking, but eventually you got the job done to your satisfaction. “This looks sick.” You say as you remove your hands from his face and lean back. Giving him time to admire himself in your mirror, you put away your brushes and powders and liners. “You want to do something to your hair too?” He turned to look at you at that. “Kinda.” You look on your phone to check the time, before grimacing. “Sorry, I don’t think we have time. Actually we really need to go if we wanna make it in time.” You stand up and hold your hand out to him, pulling him up from where he was sitting. Your friends were definitely going to give you shit about barely reaching out to them later.

church girl -- anthony 'ant' vaughn
anthony vaughn x fem!reader
summary: anthony hates church, and now that amerie's map has blown up, he's there way too often. there's no one even close to his age sitting in the crowd... until now.
Tumblr media
"Anthony, sit up straight," his mother nagged, pinching him lightly on his arm.
It was the third time she had done so, causing Ant to groan quietly as he readjusted himself. The church pews were hard and unforgiving, digging into every bone on his lanky body. His mother and grandmother were sitting straight as nails on either side of him, listening intently to what the priest was saying. The calming voice, the sweet-smelling candles, and the dim lighting in the church had been slowly lulling him to sleep, not including the early hours of a Sunday morning they were there for. His eyes wandered across the many familiar old faces - Ms. Mackenzie, Albert, Jonah... and one unfamiliar one.
A girl. A possibly teenage girl.
The back of her head was pretty. And her profile. She was wearing a pretty nice sweater too. Purple, with tiny flowers sewn into the pattern. It looked like something his grandma would make, and maybe her own grandma had made it for her. There was an old lady sitting on one side of her. He envied her spot on the end of the pew, as she was able to learn out into the aisle and stretch her legs. As she shifted her body, her crossed leg dipped out into his view. Ant finally found a reason to sit up straight as her leg came into view. Black tights led down her leg, only stopping at her big black boots. As Ant's eyes trailed back up to the back of her head, he was shocked to find a pair of eyes staring back at him. A bright, mischievous smile spread on her face, and Ant found himself smiling dopily back.
Just as he thought she'd turn back around and become reimmersed in the service, she was suddenly raising to her feet, and making her way down the aisle past where Ant and his family were sitting. The mischievous smile followed her.
"I... I gotta pee," Ant whispered to his mom and grandma, who were both too enraptured to care for the moment.
Ant quietly made his way down the hall, following the mystery girl and her smile. As he pushed through the doors of the church, he screeched to a halt, not expecting the girl to be standing right in front of him.
"Hi," she spoke.
"Oh... hi," Ant choked out.
"You come here often?" the girl spoke, smirking as she did so.
Ant snickered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I guess," Ant sighed, "I, uh, I haven't seen you around here, uh, often."
That mischievous smile returned.
"I'm new to Sydney, and to the church," she explained, "I'm Y/N."
A hand was extended to Ant that was quickly, albeit too quickly, accepted.
"Ant," he responded, shaking her hand.
She cocked an eyebrow at this, giggling slightly.
"It's uh, it's a nickname," Ant said softly, taking his hand back, "Anthony."
"Nice to meet you... Ant," Y/N greeted.
Ant shyly laughed. An awkward silence passed over the two of them as they waited for something to come up.
"You... you wanna see something cool?" Ant asked.
"Of course," Y/N smiled.
---
"How the hell did you find this place?"
They had somehow found themselves in the church basement, looking through the floorboards into the main chamber above them. Ant was ecstatic that he was seemingly making a pretty good impression.
"Lots of hours spent in this church," Ant explained.
"You're quite devout," Y/N joked, stepping over a box and closer to him, the semi-darkness blurring lines between the two of them.
"I guess," Ant snickered, "My mom makes me go more often now because of... never mind."
"What?" Y/N pressured.
"Just this stupid map thing at my high school," Ant brushed off.
"Wait you go to Hartley?" Y/N inquired, "I'm starting there tomorrow."
"No way!" Ant shouted, before slapping a hand over his mouth and speaking quieter, "No way, I guess I'll be seeing more of you."
Y/N giggled as Ant rubbed the back of his neck again - a nervous habit.
"So... you bring many girls down here?" Y/N questioned.
"Just you," Ant hummed.
"Hmm, I guess I'll believe you," she giggled, smiling brightly.
Ant smiled back, feeling that pull between two people in close proximity, that slight tension. Ant felt his upper body moving forwards slightly, prompting another mischievous smile from Y/N.
"Are you about to kiss me, Anthony?" she asked quietly.
"Oh, um, I was going to... but if you don't want it, and you know..." Ant began to backtrack.
In cliche fashion, a pair of lips cut his words off, the two intertwining. Their lips moved in sync as she moved in closer, coming to wrap her arms around his neck and allowing him to put his arms around her waist. It only lasted for a few moments, Y/N pulling away first, smiling against the kiss. Murmurs began to be heard from upstairs.
"I think the service is done... see you around?" Y/N whispered.
"Yeah... definitely," Ant answered, head spinning.
And with that, Church Girl was disappearing back into the darkness, leaving a stunned Ant smiling like an idiot.

axe throwing - a.v + h.m
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
spoilers for heart break high season one and two !!!!!
anthony vaughn x harper mclean
request: hi !! could you do a sweet first date type fic for ant and harper ?? i dont really see a lot of love for them so far but I AM OBSESSED! I was thinking maybe they'd go axe throwing for a first date since harper mentioned she wanted to go. ant is lowkey scared he's going to get a limb cut off then overcompensates w the bravado just bc he can see how much she's enjoying herself. u dont have to do this at all obviously but it was just some thoughts i had popping up
in which two of the hartley kids finally get a moment of peace together (or ant thinks he's gonna lose his arm)
lowercase intended
hbh masterlist + main masterlist
cw: mentions of past trauma, mostly fluff, end of season 2, i basically made up my own timeline to make it work, ive never been to axe throwing so i made some stuff up, not proofread !!!!
---
the hartley high kids were stuck in a sort of limbo - since the school had burn down not even two weeks before the term break, the school board had decided everybody deserved an extended break to help 'unpack their trauma'. almost everyone thought it was a load of bullshit but couldn't fight having almost a month off school.
harper had been struggling, although she'd never admit it to anyone. it was unfair - every time she almost healed from one experience, a brand new one happened. darren had recently been going through a housewife phase, and in one cooking attempt, they'd accidentally set off the fire alarm. it caused the blonde to shut down for almost 24 hours, the experience of being locked in a smoke-filled projection room taking over her thoughts.
ant had accidentally been a lurker for quite a few of these mini events - like witnessing chook stare down harper at the housewarming party. when woodsy had called for harper and amerie during the fire, his whole body had been filled with a sense of dread (although he'd never tell harper how he'd fought to try and get to her).
the two decided to keep everything between them as light as possible, which had led to today's activity being set up.
harper dashed out of her shared home with darren and ca$h (their fake moans and tips for safe sex following her) and started up her borrowed car from robert.
when she drove up to ants place, he was sat outside, waiting already. harper couldn't fight the grin that stretched across her face as he wandered over to the passenger side. anthony had taken the concept of axe throwing and lumberjacks very seriously, and had dressed for the part - a plaid button up tossed, un-buttoned, over a cropped white tank top and a pair of baggy jeans.
he got in and immediately leant forward to kiss the blonde, and she pulled away with a smirk. "what's with the gay lumberjack cosplay?"
"i'm breaking lumberjack stereotypes, harps. be happy for me." but he glanced at her with a lazy grin and she shook her head, trying not to get distracted.
as they drove, ant insisted on being on aux. this meant that when spider called him, the audio was put on speaker.
"heya, spider."
"ant, you'll never-"
"hey spider!" harper piped up chirpily, and spiders whole demeanour over the phone changed.
"fuck off, harper."
"wait until i tell missy what you just said, dickhead. don't think i won't steal your girl." harper grinned as she said it, and ant turned to her quickly.
"hey!"
"you wish, harps."
---
"i actually don't think we need to throw axes," ant stood stiffly, his gloves shoved in his pocket and axe in one hand.
harper, who was in the middle of putting her safety glasses on, paused and stared. "what?"
"i just like- don't feel like losing an arm today. ya' know?" he looked at her hopefully, and harper raised a brow.
"don't worry, baby. i'll protect you."
the nickname flicked a switch in his mind, and immediately, ant was back to his usual antics. "no need, m'lady. i will be protecting you."
glasses on, harper turned to stick her tongue out at him - only to be met with the flash of a camera. "ew, ant. i look proper munted with these on. delete that."
he didn't respond, and to be fair, she didn't really care all that much anyways. the two walked forward with their safety gear fully on, prepared to let out some of their anger.
at first, they mess around a bit, until harper finally gets her axe to actually hit the target. from then on, it's a full-on war - they're making up mini competitions, tallying points, and getting into arguments.
halfway through, harper's got 12,368 points while ant has -12.
"we should totally turn our competition into a drinking game, harps. it would be so fun."
"and dangerous." harper braces herself and launches her axe at the target. "ant, we suck balls right now - imagine what it'd be like if everyone was drunk?"
"oh. ohhhhhhhh! yeah, i didn't even think of that."
"of course you didn't, babe."
ant grabs harper and yanks her closer to him, hugging her. some employee chides them for being dangerous.
"you're so pretty, harper." he's looking down at her, grinning, harpers cheeks are pink.
"you're not so bad yourself, anthony." her hand wraps around the back of his neck and pulls him closer.
---
"i cannot believe that we seriously got kicked out for making out!" harper exclaims in the car, pulling out of the parking lot.
"it was totally worth it." ant's still dazed, and he fumbles plugging his phone in.
it goes silent except for the frank ocean playing in the background, until ants phone buzzes with a notification. on instinct, harper's eyes flick to the screen - and her heart jolts.
his lock screen is a recent picture - one of harper, eyebrows furrowed and nose scrunched. her tongues poking out and her hairs a little wild, but she looks happy.
"ant! is that the picture you just took of me?"
"of course it is. can't get it out of my head, it's seriously driving me crazy." he looks down at the picture, a slight blush on his face.
"you just wait until i get a new picture of you, vaughn."

Crush Confessions
❝⁺ ₊ ✦⋆ 。 ˚chapter 1❝⁺ ₊ ✦⋆ 。 ˚ unmasked blame; Anthony Vaughn x Reader
Tumblr media
“Well, shit.” I stare at the map while everyone crowds around it. Heaps for keeping my body count a secret. “Well damn (name), I didn’t know you got down like that ay?” Dusty nudges my side. I frown, I don't think my count is that high in my opinion, but I’d rather keep it on the low you know? This happened during holiday, me and Ant I mean. Didn't mean much to me because we were shit-faced.
But he’s been avoiding eye contact with me since I walked in. I think it's because he’s into Jesus and all that.
“Says here you went at it wiiiiithhhh, Ant and Missy huh? You enjoy getting a gobby?” I rolled my eyes. “Fuck off, cunt...” I shove Spider out of the way. Adjusting my jeans on the way down, they’re seriously starting to ride up my ass. When me and Missy went at it, I didn’t do anything with her. She did go down on me though.
To the gym, we all traveled for an assembly.  I sat down near the back, like 2 rows from. Which placed me behind Dusty, I messed with the charms on my acrylics, stoically staring at my feet when the gym silenced. I look up and see, Harper, with a full buzz. “Pack it up Eleven” Missy shouts. I hold in a chuckle. While Amerie frantically calls out her name. “Sit down Amerie,” Woodsy commands. Shortly after, she begins.
“I am a woke woman.” I sit up a bit straighter, curious on what’s about to come out of her mouth next. Woodsy is known to be a tight stuck-up bitch of a principle, I don't think she's that bad. She just… “I enjoy sex as much as the next person.” …has a way with her words is all.
“But reputation is everything and this map..has jeopardized your reputations” No fucking kidding woods. “And the reputation of our school. On the first day back, we are currently in the process of contacting all the parents of everyone on this map”
Shit…shit shit shit shit shit- I am so fucked. Woodsy’s voice begins to lessen throughout my brain. “-and have strongly suggested that there are to be no more parties, shindigs, or gathos-” my mouth begins to dry up. What will my parents say? They’ve had the ‘talk’  with me but they're not really understating you know. “Oooi central link is losing her shit” Spider comments. “Shut up Spider..” Ant whispers. “Hey! Hey!-” There's Woodsy’s voice coming in again. My legs begin shaking “-Unsupervised parties equals alcohol. Alcohol equals poor choices. The risk-taking behaviors outlined on this map are unacceptable.” I sigh, lightly pulling at the end of my hair. Trying to calm myself down, I'm so gonna get my ass beat when I get home later. Woodsy ends her speech a bit later and we’re finally dismissed. Well, except Amerie. It must have been her. What a dog.
Tumblr media
Maths passes by excruciatingly slower than usual. I check my phone, no notifications. My legs begin to shake again, and the under of my boobs are sweating, how fun. I put my head on the table, I feel a headache coming up. I look at the clock. Thank GOD. I get up to use the bathroom as soon as the bell rings. I breathe in and out slowly. “You’re good man You're good, chill out” I attempt to calm myself down. When it finally works I walk out of the bathroom. Turn a corner and there in the gym, is Harper beating the shit out of Amerie.
“worldstar material?” I question, weaving myself into the crowd pulling out my phone to record. “Well shit, beat her ass then” I instigate. A small chuckle slips from my mouth when Amerie falls to the ground, Harper leaves, and Ameries nose is bleeding.
“Yikes..” I turn away. My ass is already grass when I get home. Let us not deepen the grave by being late to class.
“Oi (nickname), can we talk?” It’s Ant. I feel just as bad for him as me. I’ve met his mom, she's scary. “About? It seems to me you've talked a bunch” “Listen I’m sorry about it. I know you told me not to spill but Spider kept on prying because he saw us walk out of the bathroom.”  During holiday I had snuck out and went to a party that Sasha So invited me to. Now I don't drink, but I do occasionally take a hit. The last time I had gotten high I almost died of laughter, like so deadass. I'm a giggler, but this time I was dissociating.
—“Oi (nickname) you good? Ant looks at me. He’s a bit high, you can tell because usually when he’s hella high he acts like he doesn’t have a brain. “Yeah bruh, heaps”. We stare at each other for a moment and I begin giggling, he begins giggling too. “You know… you’re real cute when you’re not trying to be like spider and your group leader dusty” I turn my body towards him and get closer. I was wearing this cute skirt, it was pretty tight on me but it made my legs look quite nice. I had paired it with this cute black tube top as well. “Am I? I always thought I was a bit of a ripper” I giggle at his remark. My arms begin to wrap themselves around the base of his neck. “Wanna show me how much damage a ripper like you can cause?” He smirks, “sure mate” he puts his hands down my waist, dropping his arm to grab my hand as he leads me to the bathroom.—
I shake off the memory. “Listen, Um Anthony..” I think to try and find the right words to say. He lifts his head to reveal his puppy-like eyes. Ugh, what an asshole that boy is. “I don't really care anymore. But I think it would just be best if we forgot about it yeah?” His face seems to melt a bit with sadness. “Yeah Yeah, Of course. No biggie”
“Cool, Catch you later I guess” I begin to walk away from the sulking Ant. “Will the following students please meet at classroom 5D”
I continued walking, trying to get away from Ant, who was currently burning holes into my backside. “Amerie Wadia, Harer McLean, Sasha So, Missy Bekett, Dustin Reid, Spencer White, Anthony Vaughn—“ I whip my head around, and his face looks confused. “Well Shiiiit” I smirk his way, he rolls his eyes and adjusts his backpack straps beginning to walk the opposite way from me.
“(name) (lastname), Darren Rivers, Quinni Callegar-Jones, Douglas Piggott—“ He turns around. “HA!” I roll my eyes and follow him out the doors.

How Thor Changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe
https://ift.tt/33NlKGy
Marvel’s Thor, the first theatrical live-action film to feature the comic book giant’s version of the Norse God of Thunder, opened in theaters a decade ago, on May 6, 2011.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring a then little-known Chris Hemsworth in the title role, Thor was the fourth film in the still-nascent Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was also — as we look back at it now — a pivotal one in the development of the MCU.
“I’m very proud of my part of it,” Branagh told us a couple of years ago about his handling of Thor. “Which was providing a sort of backbone that they could comically riff off, but at least it originally contained some of the high stakes Nine Realms import that that larger mythology has to have as well.”
Thor took the franchise off the Earth for the first time and into the cosmic side of the Marvel mythology, introducing audiences to the Nine Realms, the kingdom of Asgard and other mind-bending concepts that comic fans had adored for years but which were a major risk to put in front of mainstream moviegoers.
Even the character of Thor — with his helmet and his hammer and his arch way of speaking — often seemed to skate perilously close to laughable in the pages of the comics themselves. But he was also a mainstay of the Marvel line and a charter member of the Avengers, the superhero team that Marvel based its entire initial run of films upon.
Marvel
Thor didn’t take the Rainbow Bridge to the screen
A Thor movie based on the Marvel Comics version of the character had, surprisingly, been bandied around for years even before there was a Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The God of Thunder debuted on the page in Journey into Mystery #83 (August 1962), created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. A founding member of the Avengers, he joined Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man, and the Wasp in the pages of The Avengers #1 (September 1963). In the ensuing decades, he has starred in multiple iterations of the Avengers comics, plus many ongoing and limited series of his own.
An animated version of the character debuted in 1966’s Marvel Super-Friends show, while the first live-action incarnation of Thor (played by Eric Kramer) showed up in the 1988 TV movie The Incredible Hulk Returns, a follow-up to the late 1970s series The Incredible Hulk.
While Thor continued to turn up in various animated Marvel properties, it was in 1991 that the first full-length, live-action Thor movie was proposed — by no less than Sam Raimi.
The director, who later went on to make the first three Spider-Man movies and who is now working in the MCU on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, revealed to the The Hollywood Reporter in the wake of Stan Lee’s passing that he pitched a Thor movie to the Marvel Universe co-creator over lunch.
“We worked together writing treatments and took it to Fox and pitched it,” Raimi recalled. “And they said, ‘Absolutely no. Comic books don’t make good movies.’ This was in 1991.”
The rights to Thor bounced around Hollywood for a few more years (at one point it was set up at Sony with David S. Goyer writing and possibly directing) until landing back at Marvel Studios, which had reinvented itself as an independently financed production company in 2005 with distribution through Paramount Pictures. The studio, run at the time by David Maisel with Kevin Feige as president of production, hired Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend and the unfilmed Batman Unchained) to write a script for Thor, with Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) coming aboard to direct in August 2007.
Marvel
Enter Tom Hiddleston as Loki…
No sooner did Matthew Vaughn sign up to direct Thor than he seemingly left just as quickly, although it was officially announced in May 2008 that he was departing. Creative and budget issues seemed to have sealed his exit. “Marvel loves the script,” he wrote in The Guardian in late 2007. “The only problem is that it has been costed at $300m and they ask how I am going to reduce it by $150m.”
Even though Thor had already been scheduled for a June 4, 2010 release date, Marvel still had to find a director. Talks were held with Guillermo del Toro, but he decided to direct The Hobbit instead (which he ended up leaving as well). At the end of its search, Marvel finally chose Kenneth Branagh, the Irish actor and director best known for his epic adaptations of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Henry V — which kind of provided an idea of the tone Marvel was looking for.
Branagh was finally signed in December 2008, telling MTV News, “It’s a chance to tell a big story on a big scale…It’s a human story right in the center of a big epic scenario.”
Once Branagh was signed, the movie’s release date was pushed back from June/July 2010 to May 6, 2011, providing plenty of time for the film’s extensive visual effects to be designed and created and for Branagh to find his cast — starting with the God of Thunder himself.

How Black Widow Could Build The MCU’s Future
By Kayti Burt
The first person allegedly approached was Daniel Craig, who had just starred in his second James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. It was because of his commitments to the already massive 007 franchise that Craig turned down the hammer-wielding Asgardian, although it’s somehow hard to imagine the tough-as-nails Craig as the egotistical (at least at first), young Odinson.
A long list of young, relatively unknown actors tested for the part, including Chris Hemsworth (who was just making his brief but scene-stealing appearance as James Kirk’s father in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek), his brother Liam, the equally obscure Tom Hiddleston, Kevin McKidd from Grey’s Anatomy, Alexander Skarsgard (Godzilla vs. Kong), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad), and others. But Chris Hemsworth ultimately won the day, with Hiddleston landing the consolation gift that would keep on giving, the role of Thor’s villainous adopted brother Loki.
“That was my starting point, was that you have a character with a predisposition toward mischief,” Hiddleston said about playing the trickster god, during a 2010 set visit attended by this reporter in Manhattan Beach, California. “An inclination toward chaos and a delight in imbalance, and you couple that with the fierce intelligence that he has, and a chess master’s ability to manipulate events three or four steps ahead of the game.”
Adding even more gravitas to the production was the signing of the legendary Anthony Hopkins to play Thor’s father, Odin, along with Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Rene Russo as Thor’s mom Frigga, Colm Feore as Laufey, the king of the Frost Giants, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and others. Also signed: Samuel L. Jackson for his third appearance as Nick Fury (in an end credits bonus scene) and Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, marking the live-action debut of the bow-and-arrow-wielding Avenger.
Filming on Thor began in mid-January 2010 and wound down in early May, with shooting taking place at Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach, California (Marvel’s studio home in the MCU’s early years), Santa Fe, and other parts of New Mexico, and locations in northern California.
Colm Feore told The Deadbolt that the Shakespearean training which he, Branagh, and Hopkins all shared enabled them to quickly communicate with each other while shaping the characters and finding the right tone: “One of the things that was enormously helpful on Thor was that during the breaks, Tony, myself, and Ken would be talking in Shakespearean shorthand about what the characters were doing, what we thought they may be like, and how we could focus our attention more intelligently.”
During that same set visit to the Manhattan Beach set of Thor, Marvel president of production Kevin Feige told this reporter and others that the movie was going to feature more extensive post-production work than other Marvel films. “When you walk around Captain America or Iron Man, you can get it,” he explained. “With Thor, what you’re seeing is only 30% of what the movie will be. This is the big question mark and to me that makes it the most exciting. I like it when people don’t exactly know what we’re going to do.”
Reshoots were completed in late 2010, while The Avengers director Joss Whedon shot the end credits scene in which Nick Fury reveals the Infinity Stone known as the Tesseract to Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard).
Marvel
Marvel takes a big swing with Thor’s hammer
Introducing Thor and the Asgardians — who were essentially aliens, with technology so far ahead of our own that they seemed like gods to the ancient, more primitive people of Norway more than a millennium ago — was a major gamble for the MCU and its then-president of production (and now Chief Creative Officer) Kevin Feige.
Out of Marvel’s first three films, Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were massive, out-of-the-box hits, while The Incredible Hulk was a middling success at best. Yet all three films were Earthbound and dealt with plausible (as far as it went) science and technology. The science of Thor was — to borrow a phrase from the late science fiction titan Arthur C. Clarke — indistinguishable from magic.
“Asgardians are kind of ‘been there, done that’ when it comes to that kind of stuff,” said co-producer Craig Kyle to this reporter and others on the set visit. “For them to send you across the universe, it’s as easy as turning a key … Their technology is only as sophisticated as it needs to be to do extraordinary things.”
Making Thor, Odin and the other inhabitants of Asgard, Jotunheim and the rest of the Nine Realms into extra-terrestrial beings mistaken for gods by ancient humans took Thor away from sword-and-sorcery and fantasy and more overtly into the science fiction genre. But it also provided the film with a back story and mythology that was perhaps easier for modern movie fans to swallow — more Star Wars than the Völuspá.
“We just kept trying to humanize it all, and keep it very real,” Chris Hemsworth told Superhero Hype at the time about his approach to the title character. “Look into all the research about the comic books that we could, but also bring it back to ‘Who is this guy as a person, and what’s his relationship with people in the individual scenes?’ And working with someone like Kenneth Branagh, who has all those bases covered and has so many ideas, it was a hell of a time!”
In addition to taking the big creative risk of bringing Asgard and Thor to the screen, the movie took several other chances as well. Starting a tradition that Marvel would return to with films like Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor did not function as a traditional origin story. We meet Thor, Loki, Odin, and enter Asgard with only a brief introduction detailing the history of ill will and war between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants.
Thor’s journey in the film is not that of an ordinary character being bestowed with great powers and learning how to use them, the typical arc of a superhero film. He is fully formed here, if flawed, and as the film progresses he learns to be a better version of the immensely powerful being that he already is — with the help of the human beings that he meets during his fall to Earth.
When Thor — the likely successor to his father’s throne — reignites hostilities with the Frost Giants partially due to his own immaturity, Odin decrees him unworthy of wielding Mjolnir and banishes him, powerless, to Earth. That leaves the door open for the crafty Loki — who has discovered that he is not Asgardian after all, but the child of Frost Giants — to manipulate and scheme his way into power himself.
Marvel’s other big gamble was making Loki a much more fully developed antagonist than had been previously seen in many comic book movies. Skillfully portrayed by Hiddleston in a performance that made him an instant star, Loki is an empathetic, nuanced character whose longing for the love and attention of his adopted father — who lavishes more of both on Thor — leads him down a dark path and into a character arc that would take several years and movies to play out.
“I think Loki intuitively feels that he doesn’t belong there, he doesn’t belong with the family in Asgard and doesn’t belong in the pantheon of gods,” said Hiddleston at the time. “He’s confused about his place in the universe … We all reach a point in our lives where we think, ‘What the hell are we supposed to do with our life?’ Thor reaches that point in this film and Loki does as well, so yes, maybe if Odin had made him feel valued and respected and essential to Asgard, then it would have been okay.”
Marvel
Thor smashes all preconceptions
Thor had its world premiere in Sydney, Australia on April 17, 2011 and opened in that country — Hemsworth’s native land — four days later. It premiered in 56 more markets before finally opening in North America on May 6, 2011.
The film earned a 77% fresh rating and mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the performances by Hemsworth and Hiddleston, as well as the grandiose family drama on Asgard, but less impressed by Thor’s journey to Earth and the climactic battle there against the massive golem-like Destroyer sent by Loki to kill Thor.
More importantly for Marvel, the film connected with audiences despite the perception that Thor was largely unfamiliar or dated. Thor earned $181 million at the North American box office and a further $268 million abroad for a worldwide total of $449 million.
While that ranks it near the bottom of the 23 MCU movies released to date (along with Ant-Man and Captain America: The First Avenger), it was a far from shabby showing for the early MCU and proved Marvel’s calculation that it could expand Marvel’s footprint on film beyond already established characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Hulk.
“I liked it when people said, ‘Iron Man’s the B-Team. You’re calling out the B-Team!’ We knew it wasn’t,” said Feige on set about using what were perceived as lower-tier Marvel heroes. “We knew it was going to be great. And that holds true for Thor … here’s another one that will redefine us and at least raise the bar of what a comic book movie is, for both people who’ve read comics and those who haven’t.”
Thor expanded the boundaries of the MCU into the realms of space, alternate dimensions and cosmic conflicts, while putting another key part in place for the impending arrival of the Avengers. And while 2013’s follow-up, Thor: The Dark World, was a misstep and considered one of Marvel’s few outright failures, the studio brilliantly reinvented the character in 2017 with Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, moving him away from the initial Shakespearean grandiosity and into a more humorous space.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
That in turn allowed Thor and Hemsworth to have one of the most profound character arcs across the entire span of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. His story in those films, the box office clout of Ragnarok, and Hemsworth’s enthusiasm for the role led Marvel to commission 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder — marking the first time an MCU hero is venturing into a fourth solo movie.
Ten years later, while not a perfect film by any means, Thor is still an enjoyable, consciously weird Marvel epic that proved the God of Thunder could bring the lightning even to modern audiences. And while Thor has seemingly abandoned the throne of Asgard for now, his first film’s place in the MCU pantheon is secure.

David Budd x OFC Fanfiction - Chapter One
First Chapter to this fanfiction, it comes with TW (family issues, Conservative / Tory piece of s-it, act of domestic terrorism)
Ever since she was old enough to understand what her father's occupation was, Millie Vaughn had despised it. She had wished her father to be a banker, or a doctor or even a farmer. Why not. Anything but a politician and moreover a Conservative one.
From the moment she could have taken her independence, she did unceremoniously. She had left her mother, her two brothers and her father and never came back. It was as though she had never belonged in this clan. Of her relatives, she only kept the contact with her oldest brother who, like her did not share their father's political opinions and tried to remain cordial with her mother.
She had come to London to start working on her own as a graphic designer, thus exiling from her native Plymouth. Her very first days in the capital had been an epiphany. In primary school, she never had much friends due to her shyness. In middle school, she was too busy getting good grades to please her parents. In high school, her classmates started understanding - like her - what a Tory was and that anyone related to them was condemned to mockery. No one wanted to be seen next to her but her best friend, Peter. Peter and Millie had always known each other and Peter, unlike others did not care about Millie's father for he knew that Millie was different from her patriarch.
Indeed, in high school, in order to make clear to anyone that she did not share her father's anti-immigration statements and internalized xenophobia, she led demonstrations to fight against student loans or against racism. In fact, the only perk of having a politician as a father was that from the experience, she drew radical political opinions for herself. She had become a student representative, which caused quite some fuss in her household and that her father had perceived as a mandatory teenage angst.
Ring from her phone. A text had landed.
Peter, 7.51 pm: How's London treating ya, princess?
Millie, 7.52 pm: It'd be better with you around, when r u coming?
Peter, 7.52 pm: Soon :))
Her longstanding pal always knew how to cheer her up, even from a long distance. They held a conversation through interposed mobile phones for a couple of hours before the tone changed from amicable to alarming.
Peter, 10.03 pm: Fuck, did u see the news?
Millie instead of texting back directly turned on the telly. As soon as the tube was on, it was everywhere, she could not have missed it. Images of panick flashing from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4. The news hit her as a hurricane would.
BREAKING NEWS: Tory MP D. McAllister Taken Into A&E After Poisoning
- MI5 and Scotland Yard Suspect Terrorist Act -
Peter, 10.08 pm: I'm calling u asap
Shaken to the core, Millie had not seen her friend's text and was thus surprised when he called what seemed an eternity to her but that was in fact five minutes.
Her voice quivered as she tried to make sense. Although she was not a massive fan of Tories in general and of her father in particular, such an act was surreal to her. Her mother had shown signs of worrying a few weeks before Millie left for London as she knew her husband was about to vote for a controversial law related to undocumented refugees.
Yes, I'm sure it's linked to that, Pete, Millie said through the device.
Do you want me to talk to your parents? I can visit them tomorrow if you want.
No, no, it's fine, I'll call my mom tonight, as well as Anthony, she replied mentioning her brother of two years her senior. I should leave you now to call them immediately. I'll let you know.
I hope so! Try to sleep tonight and we'll talk later!
Millie hung up and directly contacted her mother.
Oh, honey, I was about to call you. Your dad has made some calls and we have decided to place you, Ant and Bob under the protection of a bodyguard.
What? Isn't it a bit sudden?
Silence from the other end.
Mum?
Millie, there's something we kept from you and your brothers... Oh, we thought it was just a joke, really... But tonight... Well...
Mum? You're not making any sense!
Your dad received some death threats a few weeks ago... It stopped for a while but it started again yesterday...
The final straw. How could she possibly appreciate her father after that? He had ruined her life and even from a distance kept on making a hell out of her life.
Forget it! I'm not gonna be followed by a bodyguard everywhere I go, mum! I've got a life and a job!
Millie...
The latter hung up.
At the risk of being in danger, Millie chose to be free.

Premise: You’re 2 months away from becoming Mrs.Tom McLaren, and as you sit here and reminisce your relationship, Tom begins getting ready for his final trip before the wedding, to K2 with Elliot Vaughn...
Words: 3599

Tumblr media
______ Dear Life, I hope you know I've loved you every mile down this road Had my share of hits and misses Tryin' to keep between the ditches Dear Life, I hope you know Dear Life, what's your plan Is where I'm suppose to be, right where I am If it is, then I ain’t leavin' If it ain't, then I'll keep on dreamin' Dear Life, what's your plan Now you're flying by too fast I'll fight to make you last Beggin' won’t you please, just slow down You're scaring me to death I'm tryin' to catch my breath Don't wanna let you go I'm hangin' on for dear life I wanna leave my mark Love til it breaks my heart Live so loud that my forever Echoes in the dark ---
Tom always carried a video camera. He said it wasn't to detail every stupid little mistake you made climbing - but you knew in truth it really was. He was the real mountain climber - at least high-altitude, in snow, hiking and climbing. You could hike with the best of them - but your speciality was free climbing over drier terrain and rocks, not snow and ice. You used to tell him the only reason that you would ever climb up snow was to ski back down - and he would laugh at you for that. But whenever you got back home he'd spend a painstaking amount of time editing together compilation videos. That you never got to see, but knew existed. "One day you're gonna have to show me!" "Aw, nah! None are finished Y/N! I can't show you something that's not done!"
He could say that all he wanted - but as you sat in your apartment today leafing through your wedding planner again and sticking things into place, you couldn't help but notice how many video stills had ended up on the walls. Usually they were of him making funny faces at the way you were climbing or just genuine concern. Your favourite was one of the ones he had to sharply angle against the cliff face - you miles ahead of him, and the number of cams in the wall waaaay less than you should have put - at least to support both of you - to which he'd hand written the caption 'People I Should Never Trust With My Life On A Mountain: My Girlfriend." It wasn’t like you didn’t have the same kind of humour though. What about the one he’d had framed in his office? A picture of you with your head in your hands waiting for him to take an ungodly amount of time to decide on the correct number of cams to stick in the wall to take your weight, to continue climbing along. Captioned: “How it Feels to Be (Literally) Tied to Your Boyfriend For 24 Hours.” That summed you both up – you wanted the least amount of equipment for a light and fast ascent. Tom was all about safety, especially if you were there with him.
So you wondered what he might say in all of them... Only you might get your wish, because on occasion you'd filmed other adventures of yours that were less perilous. Like waiting for him at the end of a 5K run, chiding him for taking 15 minutes longer than you, and him protesting that a 5K was not a mountain hike - and he didn't need to continuously run on those! Or paragliding in a much more tropical climate than either of you were really used to. You weren't sure what he was planning, but he had a good friend that was a better videographer that he had taken up more than a few mountains as a guide for documentary shooting; and Tom had asked you for a few of the videos you'd taken. You trusted him enough to surprise you with that, because you had many surprises for him too.
You leant your head on your hand for a moment and really turned your attention to those photographs. Decorating your home together had been a lot of fun; and you'd both taken a lot of thought and care into colour schemes and themes. At first only a few frames hung on the wall - but now each room showed like a timeline for your relationship. Only it wasn't in the kind of cute photographs couples usually took and there wasn't an anniversary one in sight.
No, these photographs were taken at the summit of every climb you'd ever ascended together. And as the more creative one, you'd made them into pretty collages. Frames weren't often wood or metal anymore - but whatever rope had frayed the most or was the oldest – he’d give you any worn out equipment to help with your endeavour… or sometimes you'd find an interesting stone, or you'd get post cards. You always put the place, height and time it had taken you to climb at the bottom too - sometimes handwritten in yours or his neat script. They became good talking points in themselves... And the first one had only been a birthday gift for him. But Tom had liked it so much he wanted to display it in your hallway instead of his office. "But Tommy then you can look at it when you work!" "Yeah but... When I'm not there who is gonna see it? It deserves to be seen - you put so much effort into this babe...!" And so on proud display it stayed - now joined by so many others.
When Tom wasn't half way around the world leading explorations up one of these peaks he was here with you. He had a number of guides under his expert tuition - and his company was all run out of his office. He liked to make sure that he had at least one employee in every far-reaching corner of the world that intrepid explorers would like to try and conquer... But if you wanted the best of the best, then Tom McLaren would fly out himself. He lived half his life out on mountains, and occasionally you were right there beside him. He liked you coming along for respite. So he could mutter to someone about some of the amateurs he had to escort up; "I dunno Y/N... Makes me feel I should only make the trip for experienced climbers only..." "You got me." And he would smile his best smile "Or I'd go INSANE!" "You're getting paid well for this though, right?" "AH. Yeah, I've always been about the money..." You could only laugh at that look on his face; "Well. Just be about it for this one!"
You heard the front door open and close and knew he was back. Somehow, there was nothing like the sound of knowing he was home - and your heart skipped a beat. He wandered through into the living room - claret baggy gym shirt, and navy tracks...to go with his navy trainers with questionable tangerine shoe laces. It still made you raise an eyebrow, but Tommy was all about the pop of colour. "...Hey!" He still sounded a little out of breath, despite the fact he would have driven home. "Hey!" You smiled, heart still racing like you were in the presence of a high-school crush. He dropped his gym back by the kitchen and wandered over; you accepted a kiss on the cheek and he leant on the table and tapped the book; "How are we doing?" "Good - thank you! Almost completely ready." "Ah! Thank God for that!" "Aw, and I thought you were the meticulous planner here." "Babe, I am - but this... This is..." He looked a little overwhelmed for a minute, "Something else!" "We got this - you know that right...?" "Oh I know..." Tom breathed, and this time when he lent in you wanted his lips on yours.  "I just... It's so close now I..." He laughed "I guess I'm a little nervous." "More nervous than your next climb? Ah-! Speaking of, you have a meeting with Vaughn at 2..." "I know, but thank you..." He glanced to the clock "I got enough time to get prepped." "Better have..." You weren't his assistant, but you knew Tom's diary down to the minute - mostly because he'd synced your calendars. But when he was so far away from you for so long, you needed to know exactly where he was supposed to be and when. And how long he was expected to be out of signal range. You could deal with not hearing from him for a while; that was the nature of the job, but you still liked to know what days he was climbing, and when he was supposed to be in base camp, so you knew when you really had to worry about him. He gave you one more kiss before moving into the bedroom "One more climb and I marry you!!!" "It's a big one! One thing at a time!" "Like you aren't waiting to be Mrs. Tom McLaren!" "Oh! Only my entire life!" You put a marker in your planner and followed him.
It was still like having a school girl crush. By now he was out of his shirt and going through his wardrobe for something comfortable to wear. His meeting was only over the phone... Of course he caught you staring at him - with his shirt off you could see his tattoo and that strangely shaped scar on his left-hand side. "You okay?" He raised an eyebrow and turned to you, making you shake your head "If you could feel my heart right now..." His laugh was a little bashful and his look to the floor almost shy; "Why?" "I dunno. It's like having a crush on you all over again. I guess I'm just excited..." He looked down at himself with a cheeky grin; "Please clarify!" You scoffed, but knew pink was crossing your cheeks; "Shut up!" He nodded to the bathroom; "I'ma take a shower but-" "OH God! Don't even tempt me!" Tom laughed again; "And now I really feel like I should!" He folded his arms; and there was a familiar chink of metal as the pendant around his neck moved. As far as you knew he'd never taken it off, and he'd never really talked about it much, only to whisper that it was good luck. The twist of tarnished silver was strange in itself; you couldn't quite fathom what it was either. But anything important to Tommy was important to you. (Except it was rough and sharp in places and often stabbed into you at fairly inconvenient times.) It was silly to trust his necklace to keep him safe when you knew his skills would do that on their own. But sometimes the night before he was due to go, and you couldn't sleep (because you never could when those evenings rolled around) you found yourself glaring at it and always thinking the same thing; You better bring him back to me!
You sprinted across the room to kiss him, which turned into kissing him multiple times, before he tried to pick you up and you shrieked, half giggling as you ran back out. His laugh was gorgeous and clear and loud; "Alright I get it! No showers-!" You peered around the door; "How many floors did you climb?" "300. It's still not K2. But it's a start." You gave a nod and a smile "I'm not gonna make you walk that to the wedding, don't worry." "I could call the venue and we could have it in the mountains...? Why bother making them the view!" "I could kill you, Tom McLaren!" "I'm sure Vaughn would fly everyone up!" He studied your unimpressed look with amusement "Ahhhh.... I believe that face is a firm no..." "Correct." "Alright, go on. Back to planning..." You continued to stare at him "What?" "I love you, babe." He grinned gently, and stepped towards the bathroom "...I love you too, Ms.McLaren." "Aw, not yet!"
 **
"Oh! Sweetheart...! I think he'll love it!" your mother gasped as you detailed your wedding dress idea to her. Sitting back at the table and opening your planner again surrounded by your photographs and flipping to the dress pages (the only ones Tom was forbidden from looking at) made you remember that. Because it'd been this very table over drinks that you'd told her what you were thinking. It sounded a little insane, the kind of thing nobody would really get. But he would. "...Don't you think everyone will ask me the same questions about a billion times?" "Do you have to answer? I think it's wonderful... And it's not meant for them is it, it's meant for Tom..." You'd had the idea when wandering around your apartment on the phone to other aspects of your wedding, florists... bakery... venue... Musicians... They were long detailed conversations that both you and Tom had had. He tried to help you plan as much as he could, but both of you realised it was kinda hard to plan a wedding halfway up a mountain. But he did promise, and had expertly, sorted himself and his groomsmen out - and when he wasn't preparing for his next climb, he spent all his spare time helping you. Even though you were fine and actually really enjoyed planning this. But, each of these conversations had you staring at the photographs on your wall. And you'd come to the conclusion that climbing was what had brought the two of you together, and was such a huge part of both your lives. The mountains in the background of every picture had got you thinking; even if you were actually standing on the summit of the important ones... So the idea was simple, everything you'd ever summited together - whether it be a cliff face in a national park, or it was something as phenomenal as K2, or Everest. It was making it onto your dress. The scope of work was huge and you'd realised this, so it had taken the seamstresses an age to make to your specification, but you had tried to help and provide assistance at every turn you could. So a few weeks ago you'd gone for your adjustment fitting (although it was pretty perfect once you'd tried it on), when Tom was travelling back from his last climb for a little R and R, and had almost cried when you'd seen it. The mountains had been embroidered like a secret message. Only truly visible if you looked at the detail.  Some were outlined in a blue-tone white and were a little more obvious; but the others blended so perfectly into the skirt - it had turned out more beautiful than you had imagined. And there were actual tears when you tried it on; from both you and your mom and friends.
You closed the book again as you heard him exit his office after his call and tied the ribbon back - replacing it on your shelf. "How'd it go?" "He's crazy. That's all I can say!" "You're gonna do amazing..." "It's not me I'm worried about..." He gave a shrug "I know K2 well enough." You crossed the room and placed your arms around him "...I'm gonna worry about you.." "Yeah. That's why I don't worry - you do it enough." You brushed your lips to his; "Can we go out tonight?" "For dinner...? Mmmm... Don't see why not..." Tom ran his arms around you and pulled you tight to him "What you thinking...?" "The little place on the corner..." "Why do we always go there when I'm about to leave?" "Because it's your favourite." His amusement extended into his light brown eyes as he rolled them; "No. It's because it's your favourite." You smiled, and leant up to kiss him again; "That too."
 ***
It was the night before he left, and the corridor was full of his gear, you were allowed to go to the airport with him but no further. Part of you wanted to go on Vaughn's expedition. It sounded interesting - and if it was all being broadcast when they hit the top... But Tom wanted you back here, and you understood that too. "You don't need to get caught up in all this..." He tracked back through to the bedroom; "Besides... You don't even like him." "Millionaire who thinks he can throw money at a mountain and it'll do what he wants, so everyone gets to see this inaugural flight? No thanks." "See. You wouldn't even enjoy it!" "Guess I get to see you on TV..." "Well..." He caught you in the living room for a short kiss. Fleeting - just like his time back here always was. You wondered how much Tommy would let you curb that once you got a ring on his finger. "...Unless they cut me out of it!" You folded your arms, with a frown clearly meant for Vaughn himself; "Oh. Because you're only the man whose gonna get him up there!" "...eh, millionaires!" "Who else is going with you?" "Annie Garrett." You gasped "Annie! Aw, I love her!" "Yeah another reason you aren't going!" He laughed "We'll never get anywhere...!" You followed him and realised there was at least another suitcase and a half to go "...I rebuke that and think we could probably take you in a race to the top." He shot you a look "K2 is not about racing. It's a-" You mimicked his serious voice with a whine "-Very technical climb and the most dangerous mountain in the world-!" He narrowed his eyes slightly, making you smile; "Didn't you get over lecturing me 5 years ago, Tommy?" "Clearly not, if you're gonna make stupid comments." He turned back to his things which made you sigh. "Babe, do you want some help?" His brown eyes flicked over his shoulder again "Oh, sweetheart, would you?" You nodded eagerly with a sweet smile; "Mmmm... I like helping you pack. The only thing I don't like is watching you leave..."
 ***
You stood holding his hands so tight in the airport, and realised how torn up you were about this. "Y/N... You are gonna have to let me go eventually, you know that right?" "Yeah but I..." You weren't looking at him, but his hands, laced with your own - the pretty cut diamond of your engagement ring glittering gently in the lights. He bent to try to get you to look at him. "But you...?" "This one is so much harder than the rest... I just... Wanna marry you now. And K2..." "Hey... Hey... C'mere..." He wrapped you in his arms, pulling your head into his chest and stroking a hand through your hair; "Sweetheart you never do this... What's wrong?" "I'm just really gonna miss you on this one. But I'll be watching that TV close, believe me." "I know you will. And I'll be counting down the days until my flight home... And then we square away the final touches... And then Mrs. Tommy McLaren will not just be a Skip joke at base camp... Huh?"
He at least got you laughing gently; but he noticed the tears too. Tom didn't stop you from crying though; your emotions were all over the place ever since he'd got down on one knee. He'd never expected that, which made him guess you'd never expected him to do it in the first place. Probably because that's all his friends did joke about. Including it being present in the original introduction of you two to one another. “Tommy this is Y/N... She's a climber too! Since it's only you two that have that in common if you don't wanna stay sad and single for your lonely lives, you just aught to get married now!” Tom pressed a kiss to your forehead; it was long, and worth every second, before he caught your lips. "Look after the company, alright?" "I will." "And look after yourself... Okay? That's more important..." "I will..." There was a few seconds pause before you threw your arms around him again; "You come back to me Tom McLaren! You kick K2’s ass and you come back to me!" He wound his arms around you again and lifted you from the floor "I'm coming back, Y/N... I don't get to marry you otherwise..." "Just. Make sure Vaughn knows who's boss." He gave a wink, and salute as he set you down; "Yes ma'm!"
 ***
You were still staring at the pictures on the wall when the sunlight faded; one more day gone. One day closer to marrying the love of your life. But one day further away from all these incredible things happening. All of these pictures captured moments you would never get back. And each one of them told a story with so many lost great conversations. Little glances or touches that were now lost to eternity.
Your eyes flicked between them all, this has all gone so fast... Even though he would be back soon, that would feel like an age. But all these years had passed like a blur. Would your married life be just the same?
You sat back for a second and took a deep breath to slow it all down. You hoped not; Tom was someone you had to savour every moment with - because in reality there were so few. And that made every second precious. You realised how much you wanted to look back on everything you'd done together and remember it all. No matter how impossible. It hit you all very suddenly. Is that why he recorded everything? So that he could watch back every memory you had a freeze frame moment of here? Because Tom McLaren wanted to relive every stupid, amazing thing that happened. As long as you were there in it. You shook your head gently as you pieced it all together; why he wanted your tapes so bad too. He was about to relive all those moments with you. But not just with you - Tom McLaren wanted everyone else to see those moments too. Everyone that was an important part of your lives and an integral part of your relationship.
And he was going to do so on your wedding day.
---
Oh have another GIF even though it’s not actually Tom... It still make’s me think of this fic..! Like he would 100% throw paper planes at her whilst she’s trying to work on collages and their wedding planning...

Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were new on town and your firsts days on high school weren't the best to make friends so you decided to get ot a new recreatives to try talking to people. You talked to many people and was really fun but the thing you succeded on was to beat game records, especially you beat up "Ant's" records in everygame he was on.
You had such a great time that you decided to go there again the next day. Some people greeted you in, it was great to feel a little included. You went to a new game and saw again, the highest record was "Ant". With a couple of tries, you succeded on surpass him, you couldn't help but imagine how the person would react when seeing the news. You went to grab a snack and talk to some people.
When you came back, you saw a cute guy with a cap and some other guys on the machine you were before, you recognized them from high school.
"Fuck man, i don't know who is this person but it's breaking my records in almost every game, if i catch them i will break some," you hide yourself behind one of the stalls.
"Men, it's not that important, but if you want, we can kick them for breaking your records."
That made you really scared and you had the sensation that every moment they could catch you. You got out of the local without catching their attention but you failed.
"Hi, are you the new girl from school, right?" you try to sound confident at his question.
"Yeah, i am Y/N, you?"
"Ant, you haven't by any chance saw a person on the machines getting really high scores, right?"
"What?, me? ... no. Why would i do that?" your nervousness was revealing you.
"There's no reason to be so nervous, unless..." he made a pause, thinking about it and then his face turned surprised, "You are..."
"i am a pacifist but i heard what you said i won't hesitate to fight." you form a punch and made a feint to prepare to fight.
"What? no. I was angry and with the boys, i don't want to hit someone so pretty."
"Ah , no?"
"I don't plan to do it, do you want me to?"
"No, of course."
"But i am still angry and i want to resolve this because i worked really hard to be that good."
"A competition on a two player game?"
He gave you his hand to shake it, sealing the deal and you both went inside. You decided to fight on a game that both of you weren't really good, to make things interesting. He won the first time, then you, then he two times, then you three... and continued to do so until the recreatives were closing.
"I liked doing this, maybe it's good to have a competitor that it's as good as me." he said with a grin.
"Wait, i winned you more."
"No, i winned more."
"We need to confirm that, here tomorrow, again."
"i am not going to be defeated by you pretty face."
"Why do you keep calling me that?"
"Because you are... well, if you win more tomorrow the i stop calling you pretty face but if i win, then i invite you to dinner." he said, giving you his hand to shake again.
"Okay, i will win but maybe the dinner it's still a good idea, but you pay."
"No, pretty face, if you want me to pay dinner the you have to loose."
You both laughed and went separatedly to your houses but really hoping that tomorrow gets fast to compete again.

Hi there! I've been following your blog for a while now and i see that you are clearly an expert on the Runaways. As someone who know's the absolute basics of one of those characters, where (what) would you suggest i start reading to get a solid foundation of the group? Any recommendations would be great! Thank you!
I really need to codify my Runaways Recommendation list.
Thankfully, Runaways is mostly Self-Contained and therefore easy to get into.
Start with Runaways Vol.1 #1-18.  This is collected in the first “Complete Collection” and also available from Comixology.  This is the cast’s first appearance and first major story.  It’s basically the likely blueprint of Runaways Season 1.
Runaways Vol. 2 #1-24 is the second “Season” under its original creative team:  Brian K. Vaughn (Saga, Y: The Last Man), Adrian Alphona and Takeshi Miyazawa (Ms. Marvel’s current artists).  It wraps up many plots, but ends on a cliff hanger.  This leads into:
Vol. 2 #25-30.  This is the one story Joss Whedon wrote for the Runaways.  He’s a big fan of them and he and Brian did a trade where Joss did a Runaways story and Brian did a Buffy story.  The art is great, but delays caused a relaunch and some people don’t like it.  Personally, I think it’s fine.  Not as good as what came before, but not bad at all.
During this run, there are several tie-ins to other stories that were published.  One is Free Comic Book Day 2006.  This takes place between Vol.2 #9 and #14.  It’s the Astonishing X-Men vs. the Runaways because Molly is a mutant and, because of mutant politics at the time, they want her in the school.  violence happens, but the leave peaceably.
After that, there’s the Civil War crossover (titled: Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways) which occurs after Vol. 2 #19.  The Young Avengers and the Runaways battle pro-registration forces that use an alien prison and a mind-controlled Noh-Varr to do so.
If you’ve ever wondered why some people were weirded out by how Kate and Noh just hooked up out of the blue, this will tell you why.  Noh wasn’t always an Earth Hipster.
The art is pretty gritty, but the story is solid enough.
In a bit of a flashback, set when Nico was in foster care, there’s a one-shot from the Mystic Arcana miniseries simply focused on Nico. It’s not bad, and has her use the spell “Deflector Shields”.  Which is just great to have.
Finally, after #30, there’s the second Young Avengers crossover, this one for Secret Invasion.  Titled, Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers. it’s written by Chris Yost, and drawn by Takeshi Miyazawa.  It’s short but sweet.  The main interaction is between Billy, Teddy, Tommy and the Runaways.  The others show up, but other titles had tighter mits on them at the time.  Sadly.
This brings us to Runaways Vol. 3 which is . . . not very good.  It was lead in with a catchup book called “Runaways: Saga” which was framed by the gang finding Molly’s diary and reading it.  It’s cute, but superfluous.  There is one bit of need to know info from it (the character of Xavin is forced to leave in . . .a not very good retelling of the third Young Avengers story arc.  I’m not kidding), but it can otherwise be skipped almost completely.
Almost.
Vol. 3 #10 is absolutely worth reading.  It’s two stories: one by Chris Yost, one by James Asmus.  The former is the better of the two, as Molly battles the now San Francisco based X-Men again.  Lots of cuteness and sadness and Molly finally bonds with Wolverine.
After decking him through multiple stories three times.
Following that was the cut off setup for more by Kathryne Immonen.  It ended at #14 on a bizarre cliffhanger.  The original plan basically boils down to “Alternate Universe Shenanigans” but it’s later handwaved away.
But this is the time that the Runaways entered Limbo.  Comic book limbo, not the place.  They have cameos/guest appearances in several books:
Breaking into Comics the Marvel Way 2010 - A cute story where Molly and Chase get magically sick.  It’s called “It’s Not Lupus” and set during Volume 3.
Daken: Dark Wolverine #17-19 - Daken uses the Runaways as soldiers to fight his war.  It’s not worth reading, to be honest other than have Chase answer Daken’s question “Weren’t you hit by a car?” with “I got better.”
Uncanny X-Men: The Heroic Age #1 - Molly vs. the X-Men round 2 in the wake of “No More Mutants”, and before she’s asked to join them in San Fransisco.  This time, she punches Beast in the face.  This was before he became a total tool, but it’s still nice to see.
Ultron AU #1 - In the Age of Ultron Alternate Reality, Victor Mancha tries to save people, and . . . everyone else is dead.  It’s really, really sad and well done.
Avengers Academy #27-28 - The Runaways visit Avengers Academy in order to bring back one of their number.  It’s fun, but a little overstuffed with characters.  I liked it!
What If The Runaways Became the Young Avengers? A What-IF Story that’s pretty fun to read.  It was a backup story in an otherwise lame What If series, but it’s included in the last volume of the Complete Collection (along with most of the other odd one-shots), and worth reading.
After that . . .  we have to deal with the horror that is Avengers Arena and Avengers Undercover.
These books are flat out terrible.  Racist, sexist, ableist, and misogynist.  The first one is the worst sort of Hunger Games/Battle Royal cash in, mostly because the writer has no idea how the genre works, or the nature of the characters he’s chosen to work with--to the point where some aspects of Nico are diametrically opposed to her prior appearances.  All you need to know about this is that several kids died, Nico died but got better and in the process gained a magical prosthetic.
I could go on, but that’s another thing.
In this time after Arena/Undercover, some writers like to imply that the Runaways broke up offscreen despite them being more a family than a standard superhero team.  Especially stupid when you remember that they’re all HOMELESS.
Anyway, there are a few cameo's here and there.  But nothing too substantial. The biggest is Avengers A.I. where a later addition to the team, Victor Mancha (a creation of Ultron) is recruited by Hank Pym into a team to battle A.I. Threats and help them out.  It’s not a great book, and Victor’s not quite himself, but there are highlights.  Like a Doombot working for the forces of good but still being a full Doombot.  And Vision, Thor, Victor Mancha, and Captain America in an A.I. landscape forming Not-Voltron!  That series lasted 10 issues.
After that, Victor was seen looking for an internship with Stark in the 2015 Ant-Man series in a few panel cameo.
After that, we have the Secret Wars event.  Only two things are needed from here: Runaways Vol. 4, and A-Force
The Runaways series has a group of new kids (and Molly) on the run from Doom’s Elite School when they find out that it’s culling anyone who ‘fails’ its exams.  It’s a little sketchy on the art side, but it’s a decent read IMO.  The cast is drawn from all over the teen scene at Marvel.
A-Force is an Avengers Team set in the near perfect realm of Arcadia.  It’s an all-female team where Nico is a proud member of it along with Medusa, She-Hulk, Dazzler, Captain Marvel and others.  It’s a decent read, though some people were angry that a Loki in it was evil.
I wish I was kidding.
A-Force got an ongoing series that lasted another 10 issues before Civil War 2 basically wrecked the entire team.  The last story focuses on Nico as she’s targeted by the pre-cog fascists.
The way it ends leaves me cold because I know that it’s not going to be followed up with despite Carol and Jennifer Walters having ongoings right now dealing with those consequences.
Finally, there’s Vision (2016).  This is a divisive moment.  For one, it really is a good read, but for another, Victor is killed after being revealed to have developed a ‘Vibranium addiction’ which basically acted like a painkiller addiction.  Some feel that besmirched his character, but it is a very sympathetic death scene for him.  I’m honestly on the fence about it myself.  But it is a good series otherwise and probably worth a read.  There are 12 issues overall.
And that’s is!  That is literally the every Runaways speaking appearance.
The easiest way to read it would be to get the print “Complete Collections”.  That covers everything from Vol. 1 to the crossovers, the what if, and one-shots, and ends before Vol. 4.
Then I’d add A-Force, Vol. 4, and the Avengers Academy crossover.  Of the later suff, that’s the best.  It’s in the shadow of the original, but I like ‘em.

Most Anticipated Films of 2017
Can you believe that we are already in the second month of 2017? What better time is there to talk about my most anticipated films for this year? I thought I would take a break from the rankings on this one and simply go through the films in the order of their release dates. Let’s get started!
The LEGO Batman Movie
Tumblr media
2014′s The LEGO Movie was a surprising hit, and Batman was a big part of that success. As a result, he now gets to star in his own LEGO movie. Is it sad that this has a higher chance of being the better Batman movie than DC’s Batman flick at this point?
Logan
Tumblr media
If Oscars could be awarded for trailers alone, Logan would be a front-runner with that Johnny Cash masterpiece. Logan has a very distinctive feel to it that is quite separate from the X-Men film universe, which might turn out to be a really good thing. Let’s be honest: Who is actually able to keep track of that all over the place timeline from the main films anyway? This Last of Us inspired solo film looks like it will do justice to the character of Wolverine and be a fitting sendoff for actor Hugh Jackman.
Beauty and the Beast
Tumblr media
Beauty and the Beast was not one of my favorite Disney movies when I was growing up, but this live-action film looks gorgeous. Emma Watson, beautiful as always, is the perfect fit for Belle, and the voice acting for the servants sounds like it is going to be spot-on. The music sounds great too. All signs seem to point to Disney having another hit on its hands.
The Circle
Tumblr media
Let’s follow up Beauty and the Beast with another Emma Watson film, The Circle. Based on Dave Eggers’ 2013 novel of the same name, The Circle imagines what the world would be like if a powerful and influential technology company like Google took control and created a surveillance society, leaving no room for privacy in the digital age. The book was written well enough that it was hard to put down, so I hope the film is just as good, if not better.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
The first Guardians of the Galaxy film was an overwhelming success for Marvel. With C-list characters that casual fans had never even heard of, the first Guardians paved the way for other characters like Ant-Man to have their own films. The chemistry between the actors looks even better than before, and the Soul Stone might make an appearance and be the connecting tissue between the Guardians and the Avengers. I doubt this Guardians sequel will buck the trend of Marvel’s less than memorable villains, but it should be a hilarious, entertaining ride with another stellar soundtrack nonetheless.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Tumblr media
In the fifth film of the series, Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow searches for the trident of Poseidon while Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar hunts him down. Geoffrey Rush’s Captain Barbossa will also turn up again, and Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner will make his return after being absent from the fourth installment. Who knows? Kiera Knightley’s Elizabeth Swan may also make a surprise appearance. I will be the first to admit that I was not a fan of On Stranger Tides. It was so forgettable that the only details I remember were mermaids were in it and Penelope Cruz was a new addition to the cast. I wish the series would go back to what made it so enjoyable in the first film, but the trailer for Dead Men Tell No Tales indicates that it would prefer to spiral further into mysticism and supernatural ghost crews. To be honest, I am only anticipating this film because of three reasons: (1) I want to see if it turns out to be any better than On Stranger Tides, (2) I miss the character of Captain Jack Sparrow, and (3) I am interested to see how Will Turner is doing in his stint as captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Wonder Woman
Tumblr media
DC desperately needs this film to do well. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were both a mess. Wonder Woman gives DC the opportunity to scale things down a bit and focus on one single superhero. With Patty Jenkins at the helm as director, I am optimistic that Wonder Woman can follow in the footsteps of the first Captain America movie and turn out to be a fun blockbuster film with World War I as its setting. Now who else has Wonder Woman’s theme stuck in their head?
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Tumblr media
One qualm before we move ahead: the above scene is a ripoff of the train scene in Spider-Man 2. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, it is nice to see Marvel gain control of Spider-Man again. Was I asking for yet another reboot of the classic comic book hero? No. Personally, I liked Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the last series. There is no hiding the Amazing Spider-Man movies’ flaws, but they had their tremendously well executed moments too, most memorably this spoiler. However, this new reboot already has some good things going for it. Tom Holland killed it in Captain America: Civil War, and it is going to be great to see Robert Downey, Jr. come in as Tony Stark/ Iron Man as Peter Parker’s mentor. Let’s just hope that Michael Keaton’s Vulture is not Electro-level goofy as a villain.
Dunkirk
Tumblr media
Slap Christopher Nolan’s name on a film, and tons of people are going to wait in line to see it. Nolan is the kind of director that can make the audience feel immersed in the world, and Dunkirk looks to be no different. The cinematography should be amazing, and Hans Zimmer should bring an epic score to the film. The fact that filming took place at the same location as the real historical evacuation during World War II only adds to the excitement for this war thriller.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Tumblr media
Matthew Vaughn′s Kingsman: The Secret Service was one of my favorite films of 2015. The action was thrilling, the humor was hilarious, the soundtrack was amazing, and the acting was excellent but over the top when it needed to be to fit the film’s tone. Did I want a sequel? No, but I won’t be complaining so long as it does not tarnish the first film.
Blade Runner 2049
Tumblr media
I did not see the original Blade Runner until my sophomore year of college. I did not come away loving it, but I appreciated it for what it was, especially for its notable moments like Roy Batty’s “Tears in Rain” monologue. Yet again, I have to ask: Did I want a sequel? No, but Denis Villeneuve, the masterful director of Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival, has been turning everything he touches into gold lately. Plus, Roger Deakins is handling cinematography responsibilities, Harrison Ford is returning, and Johann Johannsson is teaming up with Villeneuve once again to compose the score.
Thor: Ragnarok
Tumblr media
Thor’s films can be utterly dull at some points, but the addition of the Hulk and Doctor Strange should add a much needed kick to Thor’s third solo film.
Justice League
Tumblr media
DC has been rushing toward this film, and its track record so far does not leave much room for optimism. Fans can only hope that Zack Snyder can pull it all together and do justice to the comic book characters we grew up loving. I am most interested to see how he will introduce franchise newbies Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg.
Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi
Tumblr media
You didn’t think I would finish this list without mentioning Star Wars, did you? Disney and Lucasfilm recently revealed the title for Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. That sent off a wave of speculation. Why is the font red instead of the traditional yellow? Who is the last Jedi? Is it Luke? Will Luke die leaving Rey to be the last Jedi? Jedi can be singular or plural, so does that mean they will both survive? After the somewhat disappointing Rogue One, I am just ready to return to the main episodic storyline where we last left our beloved characters. Both the Resistance and the First Order will be scrambling, with Hosnian Prime decimated and Starkiller Base destroyed. Poe and Finn will probably go off on a mission together while Luke trains Rey, paralleling Snoke’s training of Kylo Ren. Hopefully, we will learn more about the mysterious Snoke and get to see some of the other Knights of Ren. I also hope we will get to see Luke in action as a central character of the film after we only got to see him for the last minute of The Force Awakens, and I have to wonder how they will handle Leia after the saddening, unexpected passing of Carrie Fisher. Tears will undoubtedly be shed when she first appears in the film. In the end, I trust that Disney and Lucasfilm will handle the character with respect for Fisher’s legacy. These 300-odd days will fly by before we know it, and we will all be back in that galaxy far, far away once again.

I’m greeted by my English teacher Miss Obah, otherwise known as Jojo. Everyone scatters to sit down at a table where they know one another. I sit down with the new guy, Malakai Mitchell, and Amerie “Map Bitch” Wadia. Malakai is sitting between the two of us, staring at Amerie.
“What Cunt?” She snaps. “Nice to meet you too” Malaki chuckles. I giggle at his undamaged mood.
He turns to me, I lean my head to the side. “You must be Malakai, I only reckon because you're the only name that was called that I don't know of.” “
Correct, and youuuu?”
“(name)” We shake hands. Ca$h comes in and immediately is bashed by Spider. “Ayyyyy Eshay Eshay Eshaaay” I roll my eyes. Ca$h flips them off, shoving me playfully while passing by. I direct my attention toward Dusty’s group, he whispers something about a gatho . The “cemetery”, it’s a party, a clearing somewhere at the cemetery.
“Okay. Settle down. Thank you.” She sets down her dog. “Hi everyone, I'm Miss Josephine Obah, but you can call me Jojo.” I put my head on my desk and sigh, getting ready for whatever we’re gonna be doing in here. “Um, I’m an English teacher, so I know some of you..” I look up and she makes eye contact with me. “But I'm sure you're wondering why you're all here” I bet I could guess. “Well, your names were all on the map at the stairwell. The one that’s out of bounds.” BINGO! She then goes on to explain that this class is a special class that's supposed to enlighten us on sex.
A sexual literacy tutorial, as Woodsy calls it.
“S.L.T So weeee’re sluts?” Darren clears up. I snort and hide my mouth with my hands. “That’s enough Come on, everyone…” Jojo sighs. “This class is gonna go back to the basics on sex and--”
“-Because CLEARLY, you all have a lot to learn in that department.” Woodsy, interrupts Jojo. “It’ll happen twice a week, in your own time.” I groan and make a snide look towards Amerie.
“Not until we judge that you've started to respect each other and yourselves.” I think about Missy and Ant. Slamming my head on the desk lightly. “Thanks a lot, map bitch!” Ant throws a paper toward Amerie. Malakai throws his hand up. “Sorry. Um- It’s actually my first day. I don't think I'm supposed to be in here.”
“Legend! Made it to the map before you even started!” Spider comments. I roll my eyes at his voice. Leaning back in my chair. “All right, everybody up!” Woodsy commands. “Okay now, clear these tables to the side please”
I stand still, watching as everyone scrambles to push the tables out of the way for a clearing. “Thank you, Now, I want you all to start walking around the room.” I begin to walk after she beckons us a second time.
“Now, I want you to choose three other people to start shaking hands with.” I shake hands with Malakai first, then Missy, then Dusty. We all stop and Woodsy calls our Spider.
“Spencer, You have genital Crabs” I chuckle.
“Checks out” Darren snips. “Not in real life, thank you, Darren” Spider rolls his eyes. “Put your hand up, Spencer…Now! Hands up, who shook hands with Spencer?” Hands slowly begin to raise, soon enough my hand is raised.
“You all have genital warts!”  “I thought it was crabs?” Malakai says.
“Right, Crabs. Thank you um?”
“Malakai”
“Malakai, Thank you. You all have genital crabs.” I roll my eyes and put my hand down. “Now. What does this highlight the need for?” Ca$h raises his hand.
“Stay away from Spider, he’s chat.” I laugh turning away to hide how funny I find it. “Fuck off, guys!” Spider whines. “No! Condoms” she corrects Ca$h. The bell rings and I quickly make my way to leave. I always try to leave early enough before the hallways get jammed. “Oi!” The fuck does Spider wan’t? “Man bugger off”
“You going to the cemetery?” I halt. “maybe?” “Cool, I’ll make sure to grab condoms in case you and Ant decide to go at it again ” he laughs. “Put a sock in it asshole!” I kick him in his shin and walk off.
“FUCK!” I hear in the distance while I prance along.

Schools over. I have to return home now…should I return home now? Fuck that lets just get it over with. —
“What’s this I hear about you being on a sex map?”
I stay quiet. The minute I walked inside the house I was berated. My parents were both sitting there like supervillains when the superhero makes their entrance “SPEAK!” My mom yells.
“I messed around a bit, normal teenager stuff….”
“Are you being smart?? You ended up on a SEX map, you know how bad that looks for you?” I hold my facial expression. “You act like I made the map, I just happen to be on it.” They both sigh. “You’re grounded… hand over ALL of your belongings. Think twice if you think you’re getting any of this back any time soon…”
So..I’m probably grounded for like, ever. Glad I have a spare that I bought. Saved up on my money from work to buy myself one. Best part, is when I'm grounded, my parents don’t like to talk to me out of pure disappointment. So it's safe to sneak out during the late , like after 10:30 hours. I’m not gonna sneak out tonight but I seriously do need to figure out what my parents plan on doing Saturday. Probably go out to have some “them” time and think about my actions.
I then begin to hit up Ca$h, through text of course, If I was caught dead calling on this phone I’d be buried.

I ended up showing up to the party with Ca$h. He and I had been good friends since grade 6. I know about his tough shit and he knows mine. In fact, he was the first person I told that Ant took my card, besides my sister. Who literally freaked upon me dropping.
It had been here a little over 30, and people were coming in quickly. Including Amerie, Darren, and Quinni? Looks like she made new friends. Sick, Sasha is such a bitch anyway. Before me and Missy hooked up, Missy was so broken over her, she deadass was a mess. Malakai makes his way toward Amerie.
“Ooooh I see something blossoming between them Ca$hy Ca$h Caaa$h” He smiles at the nickname. “Oi shut up” we laugh a bit. “Imma go dance bruh , you do your thing though!” I join in with Malakai’s shenanigans.
“You're heaps good at dancing Mal!” “Thanks (nickname)!” It got a little chilly when the sun said goodbye. I was near the front of the clearing too, Totally was a great idea to wear such a skanky-looking outfit then.
“What was it like?” I look up at Spider. “What was what like?” “Getting rooted by Ant of course”. I groan. “Oh my fuck! Do you ever shut up? It’s seriously never that serious lad.” I whisper almost at the end. “Settle down, settle down. Wanna try something?” “With you? Deeply no” I chuckle in disbelief. He rolls his eyes. “Have you ever drank before?” I shook my head. “Nah I don't drink man, It tastes like shit. And I've heard hangovers are a bitch.” I look at the cup in his hand.
“Plus, you probably spiked it.” I drink my soda. “Oi (name)” Here comes the other bug named boy. “I've attracted so many bugs, I must smell” Ant scoffs.
“So funny, look do you at least want to try it once?”
“Absolutely no. If I go back drunk to my parent's house and end up with a hangover the next morning. They're gonna flip even worse than they did last night.” I explain, pulling down the edge of my dress. “Why do you two want me to try it so bad anyway?” Ant looks at Spider and they turn back to me and shrug. “We’ve just never seen you do it.”
I huff. “persistent little bitches yeah?” Ant smiles, bites his lip, and looks down. I push the cup back toward them. “Nah, still straight man”. Spider scoffs with a smirk and walks back up the hill. leaving us two alone.
“Sooooo…?”
“Soooooooo?” I reply to Ant. “Are we cool? Are wee-”
“Ant we’ve had this discussion already. Let us not push it yeah?” He sucks in his lips. “Yeah..youre right” He begins to turn around, and we see flashlights in the distance. “Shit! Cops are here!” He grabs my hand and we begin running to the clearing. “Cops Cops!”  Everyone begins to thrash and run in opposite directions. Me and Ant are still holding hands when we run to the main entrance of the cemetery.
I struggle to lift myself up the gate and Ant helps. Sasha, then Harper comes next with Dusty right behind her. Dusty comes up from the gate, I look toward Anthony, “Are you coming?” “Just go Just go!”
Tumblr media
“Well, shit! My legs are fucked.”
I say when the running is over. I ended up on a random street. “Guess I'm taking the bus” I wait at the bus stop. I look down at my feet swinging them. “I should’ve snagged me a soda..”
“We can go get one at the corner mart” I look up quickly. “SHIT MAN, You fucking scared me you wanker!” Anthony giggles. “Do you want to or not!”
“Piss off man” I laugh as the bus arrives. I walk on, and turn around when I don’t hear Ant’s footsteps behind me. “Are you coming or not?”
“You told me to piss off!” “I didn't mean literally idiot” I chuckle and grab his wrist.
