Feel like transfems sharing that there are people and friends that knew "Aaron Bushnell" in community (including: anansi, a diff streamer, and ppl in the trans anarchist mastodon and her friends online)
And that those people had bid farewell in community posts / tweets to their friend n community member while acknowledging was going by "lilly" and "she/he" pronouns and "LillyAnarKitty" username just like Twitch channel the self-immolation was streamed on - alongside the public stealth persona,
and subsequent small-scale conversations this lead to prior -
Was not "worth" the harrassment campaign, the decontextualized screenshotting, and saying that's headcanoning a real life human being and undermining Palestine,
Resulting in a transfems deletion during a high rise in transmisogyny.
When blowing it up so much actually took more of the conversation than the small acknowledgements in niche circles ever did.
Nor did it stop conversations on Palestine in any demonstrable way.
It didn't either when the Sudan conversation was being had, and am gonna criticize this each time.
This is something am ashamed social media ramps people up like this, where this is a thing that keeps happening.
Is there no self-reflection?

i forget (swiss cheese brain) if i've made this post before but i feel like this is an essential book for white people to read. cis or trans.
major trigger warning in here for graphic descriptions of medical malpractice/torture/"experimentation"/violence through surgery (and its consequences). it is not an easy read.
this is less a book on the history of transness (although it does also cover that) and more about the way that racism, colonialism/imperialism, and slavery specifically dehumanized and un-personed the black body, and in doing so denied (and forcibly applied) gender to black people. consequences that continue to the modern day
i think especially because that one post was going around recently where someone was like "i get so horny thinking about a muscular, husky black woman beating me up" (or whatever) completely without any sort of self awareness. people need to know where that sort of thing comes from.
and how, paradoxically, black men are both emasculated /and/ hypermasculated (? i don't know if there's a proper word.)
but yeah. please read this book

I have yet seen anyone talk about pissvortex's antiblackness from people who aren't black. I think it's important to acknowledge that staff will allow rampant racism to rule this platform and transphobia because they are racist terfs
yes this as well! I brought it up in a vaguer sense in my tags (I do admit that's on me, I should've been more direct when I referenced the "bigoted things" being antiblackness, islamophobia and ableism as of my knowledge)
tumblr staff seems to like to pretend to be an ally to extremely marginalized communities but let people who are violently against them frolick around and only ban the people who call them out on their shit

The gentrification of Sesame Street truly makes me so mad because the show was specifically created to educate underprivileged children who otherwise had very low education rates. Now you have new episodes being put behind a paywall and employees being outwardly antiblack to the very children they're supposed to be teaching

I don't want to derail that previous post, but I do feel like this is an important point, so here I am making it.
Let's be fair: bigots absolutely have reasons for what they do. Bad reasons, unethical reasons, occasionally counterintuitive reasons, but reasons nonetheless. We miss an important part of the picture when we pretend that, EG: racism spawns out of nowhere like medieval flies on spoiled meat instead of being a system designed and maintained to benefit white people. Likewise transhpobia for cis people, sexism for men, etcetera.
Maybe I'm being unhelpfully pedantic. That's been known to happen. This feels like an important insight in my head, but I can't for the life of me imagine what the practical application is. So.
But I think we're missing a step on the way to actually fixing anything when we say, for example, "stop banning black people for no reason" to someone who's argument is "I'm banning people who happen to be black to heroically defend America/the Republicans/the Democrats/western society/democracy/monarchy/capitalism/socialism/etc." Not that that type of person is probably willing to have a productive conversation anyway, so again, maybe I'm just ranting pointlessly.

genuinely horrible how aave has been twisted into either “teen slang” or something absolutely Horrible and Ridiculous and it’s made out like these quirky white people made it when it’s existed for YEARS. it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. especially when our language becomes a meme and something you say to b funny when this is just everyday speak for a lot of us. the shit with sus and “sticking out your gyatt for the rizzler” or whatever stupid shit makes me go Oh. okay. y’all will just say anything ig
the amount of restraint it takes for me not to physically react to nbs butchering shit they heard online is. immense.
going to a majority non-black campus has given me my fair share of antiblackness through "haha i learned a funny word on tiktok!!! rizzler pookie!!! my deadass is so silly, no cap!!" LIKE SHUT THE HELL UP!!! SILENCIO!!!
even ppl that ive made friends with start doing this (slay, banger, etc etc) and its such an awful jerk to my fucking mood bro. NOT EVEN TO MENTION...ARE YOU TRYING TO TALK TO ME WITH A BLACCENT BECAUSE IM BLACK OR ARE YOU SO DETATCHED FROM THE ORIGINAL MEANING OF THESE WORDS DO YOU GENUINELY NOT KNOW?? SHOULD I SAY SOMETHING AND RISK GETTING SHUT DOWN OR...??
part of me is glad that i went to a black-centric highschool cause idk id rather not be furthered conditioned into uncomfortable silence when a nb mf decides that a random word ive scarcely use even myself becomes their favorite buzzword of the month. it feels like EVERYTHING mooches off of black culture and it manifests through the smallest shit. im so close to blocking ppl atp but what sucks is that even then--a lot of folks genuinely dont know and would likely change their behavior if you just asked. BUT ALSO A LOT OF RACISTS DO IT TO PURPOSEFULLY!!! DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH PARANOIA THAT GIVES ME??
and the words that get butchered are just...some of the most random shit??? like theres too many regional dialects of aave for me to recount but. rizz??? thats the word yall are going to mutilate next??? YALL HAVE KIDS SAYING RIZZ??? "standing on business""??? LIKE THESE ARE WORDS/PHRASES IVE HEARD AND USED BUT NOW MY BRAIN IS GOING TO PERMENANTLY ASSOCIATE THEM AS MEME BUZZWORDS??? "ASF"??? I FEEL LIKE IM IN AN EPISODE OF ATLANTA!!
JUST THE LACK OF RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING FOR REAL LANGUAGE IS SO SURREAL BECAUSE IVE RARELY HEAR ANY NB SPEAKING THIS WAY UNTIL SUDDENLY IT BLOWS UP ON SOCIAL MEDIA!!!
i dont know any other way to describe it then just the background surrealism episodes of atlanta give off. like the ultimate gaslighting of shit that is obviously off-putting and weird but the majority of niggas doing the harm in the first place either want to convince you its ok or dont realize the effect of their actions. and you dont know which.

I still remember this one Willy Wonka Creepypasta where the author interrupted themself to say “Now I’m not a SJW that thinks black people can do no wrong-“ While describing Wonka saying horribly racist things that made even the other actors at the time get uncomfortable. Like okay man, did you get your other 15 year old friends’ approval with that line? Was it worth interrupting the flow of your writing to assure the audience? Was it necessary?

tw: white supremacy, white fragility, assault mention aka being coughed on like I’m trash, other exhausting nonsense.
You can color your hair rainbows all you want to, wear all kinds of pins with “black lives matter”, and “equality” and “fuck the police”, “down with the system” or whatever the fuck with all the rainbow socks and all that shit, but if you’re still holding onto your white supremacist ideals and behavior, and you’re going out of your way to treat black people like shit (like this white blue-haired mf who coughed in my direction as soon as they got close to me, I will never forget that.), if you continue to silence black voices, and other marginalized voices, and cry white tears when you’re confronted, and forced to examine your whiteness, if you immediately jump to defending your behavior and hiding behind your white fragility, fuck you and fuck all those fake ass pins that you don’t fucking believe in. It is a fucking COSTUME. A PERFORMANCE. And I cannot STAND performative activism!!!

"When I use the term “whiteness” I do not solely mean that white women are overrepresented as protagonists. I also include whiteness as a hegemonic force used to subjugate and oppress people of color. Although these white protagonists often act violently upon themselves, through various forms of self-harm, eating disorders or engaging in dangerous sexual acts, to regain control of their lives, they also externalize this violence onto those they can get away harming. Their primary targets are often people of color, mainly Black people."
"These fictional depictions of the white disaffected woman have real-world parallels. In an episode of the Red Scare Podcast titled “Shia Labuse,” hosts Dasha Nekrasova and Anna Khachiyan mock FKA twigs, who opened up about the abuse she endured from Shia LaBeouf. Dasha, who diagnosed herself with “girl, interrupted syndrome” and is heavily associated with the waif aesthetic, calls twigs “attention-seeking” and “aggressive” in reference to the New York Times article where she exposed Shia. One can only assume she felt comfortable making these cruel remarks because Black women are not afforded the same vulnerability that white women are able to capitalize on."
"Black women are not afforded the luxury of dissociation due to the continuous cycle of racial violence we are forced to confront."
