It is #Molloy Monday and I am here to remind you that Daniel is featured most from 1975-1985 aka the Sluttiest Era of Modern Male Fashion.

Coming in HOT we have the cut off short shorts and cropped t-shirt or mostly unbuttoned button down combo. Daniel visited some warm climates during the chase years so I invite you to picture him in the tiniest ripped jean shorts sweating over whether or not that auburn haired lady down the street is actually Armand!!

Or going into the 80s sometimes the tops were REALLY cropped and exposed midrift and back!! Like just picture Daniel fucking around on Night Island in this, wow wow!!

But even when the pants were long the t-shirts were TIGHT, maximum pec definition through the shirt was a must.

If he didn't wanna show that much skin? That was fine because turtlenecks where IN baby!! These are basically vampire lingerie imo, covering up the most succulent part of the neck but still leaving a hint exposed below the jaw?? Armand had to have been dying of thirst!!!

(Also when it says Armand came to pick Daniel up from jail in a lawyer's tweed suit? He wasn't wearing no modern cut, he'd have been rocking the big lapels because this was the 70s tyvm)

Also important to note was that the 70s were the era of glam rock and androgyny, so picking a silky button down that looks like a women's blouse? Totally okay for men, very in style so long as you leave the top buttons undone to expose maximum chest.

Btw velour? Was IN. This is the 1979 equivalent of a juicy couture tracksuit which Armand could have snuggled right into while they were living in London.

And while the 80s sees the rise of a looser fit, that doesn't mean the crop top died or that people weren't still rocking a more form fitted jean when they were feeling casual.

This photo is from NYC in 1983 and shows that tight t-shirts and short shorts were still very much alive, just styled a bit differently! A tight top and looser straight leg jeans, or short bottom and a flowy open top took the place of all fitted looks.

Or that the mostly unbuttoned button down went away- if anything in the 80s the buttons went even LOWER and more revealing. Paired with a boxy linen suit this is essential 80s Miami aka Night Island looks.

This sweater is loose but it's got the deep V neck and a sheer knit, perfect for the beach!!

And yeah this is Sapder AGAIN but note the half open shirt, leather jacket, and jeans that get tighter near the ankle!! Classic 80s, baggy but still sexy, A+.

I SWEAR this is the last time I'm gonna use and abuse him but peep the muscle tank with the DIY cut edges on the arm holes! V neck! 80s!!!

Basically the takeaway here is that if you're putting them in the 80s and having them rock something baggy and double denim, the look still featured a tight waistline and rolled sleeves or rolled ankles to tighten the jeans. It wasn't just baggy all over!!

VC Fic Rec Friday is back! Here's some more random fics I enjoyed.

Zealotry for the Damned by @faerywhimsy - E, 13607 words, Armand/Daniel (sort of). This AU is AMAAAZING!!! Based on the idea that Armand was originally the villain of QotD, it explores his adventures serving Akasha before she ultimately chooses Lestat over him (devastating!). This made my lil monsterfucker heart so damn happy because it's a dark twist on The Devil's Minion and it's DELICIOUS. Armand is so mean to his pet and it's just 🥵🥵🥵 Nik absolutely NAILED the creepy awful monster-human "romance" I read this fic two months ago and it still haunts me (compliment). Daniel being the goodest lil bloodbag boytoy too 🥺 And the really artful tie-ins to actual scenes on QotD and other events in the Chronicles! Ugh it's just so good. I'm throwing a fit.

Out, Damned Spot by @covenofthearticulate - G, 2774 words, Louis/Lestat. No words just 🥹🥹🥹 It's ADORABLE!!!!! Reminders of just how young Lestat is, of how much he and Louis do love each other despite everything, just them being cute and domestic with Claudia!!! Definitely a fic to read if you need something that will make you smile and giggle and kick your feet like an idiot.

Aftercare by lani/@santinos-neckline - Not Rated, 1908 words, Mael & Santino. Listen I am just so starved for fics with my guy Mael and this was a godsend. Vivid, poetic imagery, the awkward petty teenage rivalry, the SALT, the fact that despite whatever it is they have going on Santino chooses to help Mael anyway. I love it!

Fate as it Flows by @apoptoses - E, 14808 words, Armand/Daniel. The "watersports" tag had me a lil hesitant because I had never read that before and I didn't know if I would like it, ngl, but YOOOOO it was SO WORTH IT to read this fic!!! Istfg @apoptoses can make anything sound hot as hell if she tries hard enough. It hits all the buttons for me with Armand being creepy and spying on Daniel's mind, Daniel being too embarrassed to ask for what he wants (mood), the little details about their relationship like Armand not specifying that Daniel had to ask permission but Daniel waiting for it anyway 😂 10/10 would recommend this fic fundamentally changed me as a person lmao

Moon Above, Sun Below by @monstersinthecosmos - E, 9767 words, Armand/Daniel. CAUTION: PRODUCT MAY BE HOT. Omg this is everything. A really fun take on the Devil's Minion years when Daniel was doing other people for Armand, looking into just how fucking thirsty he was for this freaky lil vampire!!! And then Armand realising, oh shit, maybe I'm just as thirsty for this crazy-ass monsterfucker lmao. It's SO GOOD!

My self-rec this week is Dead Drunk. It takes place in the post-canon era, in which Daniel and Armand, as vampires, decide to get as drunk as vampires possibly can on drunk mortals and fool around. It was inspired by a prompt from the VCkinkblog

Some things I really loved about writing this fic:

1. Getting to explore what I think the bounds of vampire drunk are and how it works, how heavily it can affect them, and how quickly it wears off or doesn't. It fun to play with, especially with Armand deciding to really go for it and accidentally ending up way more wasted than Daniel. (I suspect Armand was dubious it would work and thus overdid it in an attempt to be sure it had an effect.)

2. There were a few places I got to talk about Daniel's shame and feelings about his alcoholism now as an immortal who is no longer burdened by it. Both in terms of how he feels about the mortals getting wasted around him and his own history when Armand mentions how when Daniel was always super drunk, he was usually shouting. I don't know, I don't see a lot of fic exploring Daniel's alcoholism in that regard and I do think it's an interesting part of him. So while he's clearly not anti-drinking (see the fic where he is, in fact, trying to get vampire drunk), I do think it colors his experiences and feelings about it and I liked getting to talk about it a little bit.

3. GIGGLY DRUNK ARMAND. Like I don't know, it just makes me so happy. It's so freaking cute! And they're just really cute together. I love Daniel and Armand having fun together and doing weird shit and this is definitely an experiment for them but it's also just them letting loose and having a good time together!

Anyhow, if you haven't read it yet and you decide to, I hope you enjoy it! And I look forward to see other peoples #vcselfrecsunday posts!

Fic ask meme! The Stars Still Conspire for Us 2, 3, 5, 7

The Stars Still Conspire for Us

What’s my favorite part of the fic? There's a few things I really love about it, but I think it's just a few things I threw in for fun. That Lestat does karaoke with Sympathy for the Devil (film version), the raggedy Armand's, Armand keeping their flats exactly as they were to the point they still have rings on tables and smell a little like Daniel's brand of cigarettes, Lestat barging in because Armand didn't go say hello to him and wearing the scarf that Armand got for him huffily. I love little snapshot moments, they always make the feel more real to me to have things that are just there and don't get expanded on.

What’s the part of the fic I’m most proud of? Is it weird if I say Louis? I haven't written Louis - other than a brief attempt at Christmas - since 2001. I didn't know if I could. It took me a minute to understand Louis 2.0 too because I originally did not read past Merrick so I had to come to grips with him as a character. People seem to enjoy the take I have on him so I'm going to count that as my proudest moment.

What part of the fic am I still dissatisfied with? Daniel's declaration at the end. It's way too wordy. I was tring to make him sound like he was having word vomit, like he was overflowing but he'd been there a while. I think he could have refined it more.

Were there any major decisions I made about the fic that could have made it go a whole different direction? Soooo if you caught it early, you'd have noticed it said it would be four parts not six. This was because initially I was going to have Louis leave with Lestat early and focus on Daniel/Armand, but I realised that Armand's loves (and realistically given his relationship with them all started with those two, Daniel loves them in some way and how he does is up to interpretation) are important to him. They needed the time to figure that out.

Originally then it was going to be kitchen table polymary where it's seperate relationships but they're chill to hang out and happy with the relationship. However, I think Louis and Daniel's relationship is fascinating and there is a quiet sort of love there for me and then Lestat, I realised that I didn't think Lestat could love part way. He either has to love everyone or it won't work, so I set to work exploring his relationship with Daniel and that's what I've been doing for the sequel. Big shoutout to @apoptoses and @hekateinhell for helping show me some of their dynamic as a threesome in Three of Hearts and The Language of Flowers. Also to @desertfangs for exploring their individual dynamic in The City Never Sleeps. If this turns out halfway decent, it'll be at least partially because of them. Funny when they were never supposed to be the focus at all!

Choosing WayBackMachine offers this page:

So you just click save and the waybackmachine then captures a screencap of your post and saves it. If you don't have an account then so long as you have the url for the post you'll always be able to find it there (or you can just put in the url to your tumblr but finding specific posts becomes more difficult then).

However if you DO have a waybackmachine account it'll store all of your saved posts into the account and you can access them there.

Choosing archivetoday gives you this:

There's a button at the top that says 'all snapshots from host apoptoses.tumblr.com' and you can then download them as a zip.

SO. This is a couple ways you can back up your original posts should something awful happen and your blog get terminated.

But I really, really encourage writers and artist to make a multi-chapter post on ao3 where they can dump all their short fics and quick sketches- truly no post is too small or too 'rough' to not save, because for someone out there that is their favorite fic or art of all time! And you deserve to have a portfolio of your hard work!

Long Flights Can Be Torture: A giveaway fic for @wraithsonwingsposts (which should have been done months ago but she was super understanding about being derailed by Radiance!) It's based on her prompt so I don't want to give away more than the title until she gets to read it. Suffice it to say that it's been a really fun challenge to work with this cheeky prompt, and it should be finished soon!

Untitled "Ladies of Hannibal" fic: This S4 fic starts off with the events of TWOTL told from Chiyoh's perspective and will eventually flow through to Hannibal and Will's recovery. It will also be written from Will's perspective as he wakes up and needs to confront his choices and feelings post-fall, while also finding himself confronted by Chiyoh's watchful and wary eye. I'm going to post the first few chapters of this potentially longer fic for the Ladies of Hannibal week. This piece was actually the first thing I ever started writing for Hannibal after a terribly long writers block so it has a really special place in my heart. BUT it's been languishing on the back-burner.  The Ladies of Hannibal Challenge was a perfect opportunity to brush it off and keep going with it :)

Unnamed Kinky Birthday Fic for @idonthaveyourappetite : Not going to give too much away…only what my lovely murder bestie already knows…Will's old familiar restlessness and irritability have been mounting for days and he's secretly craving the way Hannibal can help him turn his brain off…time for Will to swallow his pride and ask for what he needs.

"Flippy Room-Destroying Murder Porn" Collaborative Fic:  @idonthaveyourappetite and I will be writing another fic together soon!  It won't exactly be a sequel but it will be in the same universe as our previous collaborative fics Blood Will Have Blood, Every Day Forever, and La Petite Mort (but just like the others, it can stand alone). Without spilling the beans, I think the title tells you a lot ;P It's more of our murder husbands revelling in first-times and discovering how all of their power struggles can be worked out with sex…with more than a little blood thrown in the mix this time ;)

More stuff in the "Mind palace stage" right now….

Post-Apocalyptic AU: Looking forward to mashing together my love of Hannigram and Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian fiction! This is just in the idea stage right now, but I'm really excited about it. What better place to find our boys than in a world where the rules have been turned on their head and now come purely from your own making?

Dark Tower/Hannigram AU:  This is an idea I've had kicking around for a while because I love both The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King and Hannigram SO VERY MUCH, but I'm not sure if this will ever get off the ground.  I may mash it together with my post-apocalyptic AU idea because they definitely dove-tail.

Faustian Immortals AU:  I've been toying with a few different ideas surrounding Hannibal and/or Will being immortal and exploring a variety of Faustian themes.  I had originally conceived of it as a Victorian vampire fic…and it may stay that way…but I may make it less literal and just go with a bundle of non-specific preternatural traits as a backdrop to exploring these themes.

Tristhad Smut:  I know I missed Tristhad week (Radiance Anthology completely consumed me!) but I'm going to do some Tristhad smut sometime…those two are just too hot and I can't pass it up. 

Of course, there's always more ideas (and LOTS more on the collaborative front that I'm not giving away), but these are the ones that are most likely to fly.

The project APOPTOSE explores a mysterious living ecosystem in black and white, whose entities, volumes and scales seem to follow their own logic within an infinite vacuum. The Apoptosis refers to the process by which cells trigger their own self-destruction in response to a signal. APOPTOSE started from an experimentation to blend visual artist Sophie Le Meillour’s hand drawn universe with creative technologist Fabrice Starzinskas’ technological research. “Moon” and “Nightmares” – two series of drawings and screen printings by Sophie – represented a solid groundwork of creative references for Fabrice to investigate notions such as emotion and storytelling. Currently reading: Peace Talks by Jim Butcher. I actually thought I was super behind on this series but it turns out only one book has come out in the past five years or something so I'm not.

Last song listened to: Drive - Assemblage 23.

Last movie watched: Glass Onion! I tried to watch the new Jurassic World on NYE but only made it 20 minutes before the offer of Jackbox Games with friends won out and I still need to watch the rest. (It was not... good. But I hadn't gotten to the original cast's return either.)

Currently working on: Too many things! I have a smutty present day Armand/Daniel thing that's done if I can convince myself it doesn't suck, and I'm working on a longer Valentine's Day thing for them as well. Still working on exploring Daniel's madness in my series that I started on that. Got a vampire court thing that will have some Daniel/Marius smut. I have a plotty A/D thing forever in progress on the back burner. Those are the main things right now but I have some other ideas I'd love to tackle soon, too. We shall see.

La prise de statines diminuerait le risque de cancer de la prostate de 20%, selon une étude américaine publiée mardi dans Cancer Medicine.

Kau Wang, de l'université de Floride à Gainesville, et ses collègues ont analysé les dossiers médicaux entre novembre 1994 et janvier 2016 de 13.065 hommes ayant effectué au moins une visite dans une clinique d'urologie pour des motifs liés à leurs prostates.

Sur la cohorte, 2.976 hommes ont développé un cancer de la prostate. Dans la cohorte, 3.839 hommes ont pris des statines.

Les chercheurs ont analysé les risques de développer un cancer de la prostate en ajustant statistiquement pour l'âge des patients, leur origine ethnique, les comorbidités et la prise de certains médicaments.

Ils ont ainsi observé une diminution de 20% du risque de cancer de la prostate chez les hommes ayant pris des statines.

Cette diminution était majorée en cas de longue durée et de dose de traitement élevée. Ainsi, une durée de prise de statine supérieure à 8 ans et demi était associée à une diminution de 53% du risque de cancer de la prostate. Une dose cumulative supérieure à l'équivalent de 616 doses journalières de statine correspondait à une diminution de 44% du risque de cancer de la prostate.

"Cette association protectrice n'a été observée que lorsque les statines étaient utilisées plus de 30 mois ou à plus de 121 d'équivalents de doses journalières cumulées".

Le risque de développer un cancer de la prostate ayant un score de Gleason supérieur à 7 (grade élevé) était diminué de 46%. Pour les cancers de grade inférieur à 7, le risque n'était diminué que de 15%.

Dans cette étude, seules les statines lipophiles diminuaient le risque de cancer de la prostate.

Leurs résultats semblent être soutenus par des études in cellulo montrant qu'"une exposition de longue durée aux statines pourrait induire une apoptose cellulaire, un arrêt en phase G1 du cycle cellulaire, une autophagie et une dégradation des récepteurs aux androgènes", mentionnent les chercheurs.

La prise de statines avait déjà été associée à une diminution de la mortalité liée au cancer de la prostate de 17% et de la mortalité toutes causes de 19% (cf dépêche du 04/09/2017 à 11:32). Il semblerait également que cette classe de médicament puisse diminuer le risque de décès de 36% pour les patients atteints de cancer de la prostate avancé sous hormonothérapie (cf dépêche du 21/05/2015 à 19:12).

Pour les auteurs de cette étude, "clarifier l'association entre les statines et le cancer de la prostate pourrait [...] aider à élucider les mécanismes hormonaux stéroïdiens connectant les troubles métaboliques et la carcinogénèse de la prostate".

Metástase é o nome de um processo complexo, onde ocorre a implantação de um foco tumoral à distância do tumor original. Uma célula cancerígena ou um conjunto de células se movem, entram na corrente sanguínea, ou no sistema linfático, e se espalham, implantando-se em outro órgão.

Primeiramente, ocorre a separação do tumor preliminar e a invasão dos tecidos em torno da lesão, após, ocorre a entrada nos vasos sanguíneos ou no sistema linfático, alcançando o órgão distante e formação de uma nova lesão.

O processo de carcinogênese tem início a partir de células de algum tecido ou órgão do corpo que começam a crescer descontroladamente ao desobedecer aos comandos de supressão e de entrar em apoptose, perdem a capacidade de diferenciação, resultando em células anormais, que podem se multiplicar e invadir outros órgãos.

A diferenciação entre os tumores malignos e benignos está relacionada basicamente ao mecanismo de metástase. Os tumores benignos não possuem a capacidade de provocar metástases, já os malignos são agressivos e possuem a capacidade de infiltrar outros órgãos. Tipos de câncer diferentes tendem a se espalhar para locais diferentes, mas, os locais mais comuns de metástases incluem os ossos, fígado, cérebro e pulmões.

Como a metástase envolve a corrente sanguínea e o sistema linfoide, normalmente os órgãos mais acometidos são os mais irrigados como o pulmão, fígado e ossos. Outros locais comuns também são, o cérebro e linfonodos. A metástase, no entanto, pode ocorrer em qualquer região.

O subtipo do câncer primário também pode influenciar no aparecimento da metástase, existem padrões de órgãos que costumam ser mais acometidos, dependendo do subtipo.

Quando ocorre a metástase, o tumor é nomeado de acordo com o tumor primário, ou seja, não é um dado um nome específico para a nova região acometida e sim fala-se em tumor metastático do lugar primário.

Sintomas

Inicialmente, é comum o paciente ser assintomático para as metástases, que são diagnosticadas por exames de imagens.

Os sintomas dependem do local acometido, por exemplo, em caso de metástase nos ossos, o paciente começa sentir dor e pode sofrer fraturas ósseas.

Diagnóstico

As metástases podem ser diagnósticas em diferentes momentos. Em casos de câncer avançado, é comum encontrar os focos em outras regiões já no diagnóstico inicial. Em alguns casos, a metástase é diagnostica após o início ou no final do tratamento. Às vezes, a doença original só é diagnosticada quando o tumor metastático causa sintomas. Por exemplo, um homem com câncer de próstata disseminado para os ossos pélvicos pode apresentar dores lombares causadas pela doença nos ossos, antes de ter outros sintomas do tumor na próstata.

Exames de imagem como tomografias e ressonâncias são utilizadas para verificar outros locais acometidos pelo câncer. O exame PET-CT é empregado para verificar focos tumorais em todo o corpo. Alguns exames laboratoriais, com marcadores específicos de câncer também podem ser empregados.

Vale ressaltar que o retorno de um câncer não é a mesma coisa que metástase. Quando, após o tratamento, a lesão retorna, é chamado de recidiva.

Tratamento

O tratamento das metástases é difícil e o aparecimento determina o prognóstico do paciente. A chances de cura diminuem e grande parte dos casos de óbito por câncer envolvem as metástases. A escolha terapêutica depende de várias questões como o tipo de câncer primário, tamanho da lesão e análise das metástases. As condições físicas do paciente também são avaliadas.

Em alguns casos, a metástase é diagnosticada antes do tumor primário. É possível avaliar que se trata de metástase pelas características da célula, que não são compatíveis com a região onde foram encontradas. Nesses casos, ela é tradada, de forma sistêmica. Em geral, o tratamento de forma sistêmica, ou seja, para todo o corpo envolve a quimioterapia. Outras terapias como a terapia alvo, hormonioterapia são empregadas. O tratamento adjuvante pode ser prescrito após o tratamento primário, como a cirurgia.

A oncologia está estudando diversas formas de tratamento para os tumores metastáticos e novas abordagens terapêuticas vem sendo testadas, para melhoria no prognóstico dos pacientes.

Linfopoiese

Definição

A linfopoiese é uma sequência de eventos rigidamente regulada que leva à expressão de um receptor de antígeno funcional na superfície do linfócito.

A linfopoiese é a formação de linfócitos ou tecido linfático

Linfopoiese é o processo no qual os linfócitos (células B, células T e células NK) se desenvolvem a partir de células progenitoras.

A linfopoiese de células B é completada na medula óssea, enquanto a linfopoiese de células T ocorre no timo.

O que é

Em imunologia, os glóbulos brancos podem ser classificados como neutrófilos polimorfonucleares, basófilos polimorfonucleares, eosinófilos polimorfonucleares, monócitos, linfócitos ou plasmócitos.

Linfopoiese é o processo de produção de linfócitos, como células B, células T e células natural killer, na medula óssea.

Nesse processo, células progenitoras na medula óssea se diferenciam em linfócitos.

A linfopoiese é necessária para a sobrevivência, porque os linfócitos maduros são elementos essenciais do sistema linfático do corpo.

O termo formal para a linfopoiese é a hematopoiese linfoide, que basicamente significa a produção de células sanguíneas chamadas linfócitos.

As células indiferenciadas, chamadas de células-tronco hematopoiéticas pluripotenciais, na medula óssea podem sofrer uma série de divisões e diferenciações celulares antes de se comprometerem com a produção de glóbulos vermelhos, mielócitos ou linfócitos.

Na linfopoiese, a célula-tronco hematopoiética pluripotencial dá origem à célula progenitora multipotente. Esta célula dá origem ao progenitor linfóide inicial, que por sua vez dá origem ao progenitor linfoide comum (CLP).

O progenitor linfoide comum pode originar células natural killer (NK), células dendríticas e prolinfócitos.

Na linfopoiese das células T, os linfócitos são formados primeiramente na medula óssea e são então transportados para o córtex tímico, onde são submetidos à maturação.

As células T no timo permanecem em um ambiente livre de antígeno por quase uma semana. Apenas 2 a 4% da população original de células T é capaz de sobreviver nesse ambiente.

Outras células T sofrem apoptose ou são comidas e destruídas por macrófagos.

A morte desta grande quantidade de linfócitos T assegura que os linfócitos sobreviventes possam reconhecer complexos de histocompatibilidade auto-importantes (MHC).

O reconhecimento desse complexo impede a destruição autoimune das células do próprio corpo.

As células T ou timócitos podem diferenciar-se em células auxiliares T (Th), células T citotóxicas (Tc), células T de memória e células T supressoras ou reguladoras.

Na linfopoiese das células B, os linfócitos B são inicialmente formados na medula óssea. Quando a medula óssea está comprometida, o baço pode assumir essa função.

Os primeiros estudos em células B foram feitos na bursa de Fabricus presente em galinhas, e é por isso que eles são chamados de células B. Após a formação, as células B são então transportadas para os linfonodos e introduzidas nos antígenos.

O reconhecimento de antígeno é uma importante função das células B. Uma vez que uma célula B reconhece um antígeno, ela se torna ativada e se diferencia na célula plasmática, uma célula secretor de anticorpos.

Anticorpos ligam o antígeno e estimulam mecanismos destrutivos, como o sistema complemento e a fagocitose macrofágica.

O anticorpo mais comum secretado é a imunoglobulina G (IgG).

Outros anticorpos, tais como imunoglobulina A (IgA), imunoglobulina E ( IgE ) e imunoglobulina M (IgM), também podem ser fabricados por células B maduras.
