Hello!

Inspired by other smash or pass blogs, this one is about Fire Emblem characters!

My name is Mod Garn and I use she/her!

Will only be posting characters who are 18+ but since this is Fire Emblem not everyone has a canon age. Even if they do, a character's age can be called into question. TL;DR I'll be arbitrarily judging a character if they look old enough for this. If you think a character should or shouldn't be here, I am sorry.

I will be doing almost every character in the franchise, including from the mainline and spin-off games, one off generics, the cipher exclusives, and manga exclusives.

Characters that will be excluded are:

underage characters (as mentioned before)

characters without a decent (or any) picture of them

Characters who share the same portrait as each other since that will be redundant

Generic portraits for classes, so if a character uses a generic class portrait (ex the 10 elites from fe3h) they won't be included (the only exceptions are Abysskeeper and Gatekeeper)

Also I am splitting up characters who are technically the same character but under different identities.

I'll be posting 3 characters a day, alphabetically, at 3PM EST.

Also thank you to reddit user u/Just_Nefariousness55 for making this post compiling every character in the games. My life was made so much easier because of you.

Crazy theory from my sleep deprived mind: the modern original FE games have some thematic ties to previous FE games (Awakening to the Archanea and Valentia saga, Fates to the Tellius games, 3H to the Jugdral games, and Engage to Sacred Stones) and by process of elimination the next saga will have thematic parallels to the Elibe games.

This guy is really something alright. Screenshotting from accounts that blocked him or don't want to talk with him, criticizing a fanfic for not being accurate to canon, being so dead set on that he would tell you "yeah akshually Tellius handled racism great and 3H did it too and 3H handled everything great because Fodlan well written"

To be honest,

Tellius is in this weird situation that it starts like your usual Tales of game, two races who hate each other, racism everywhere, the hero and the cast accepting to work together despite differences and wanting to create a world for everyone...

But it drops the ball hard with the Branded. So hard, that its entire message, as a game in a doylist POV is, imo, inaudible.

It reminds of prehistoric a saga I was reading - a period where neanderthals were coexisting with "modern humans", and one of the neanderthals understood that his race was bound to disappear tin the future, when the new "modern humans" will continue on living.

FE Archanea had the same premises - dragons who are bound to degenerate because apparently it's now time for humans to run the show, and even if the technicites suck, they can still find a way to "coexist" if they nerf themselves and use dragonstones.

It sucks, but at least they don't lose part of themselves like Laguzs in FE Tellius, they just have to seal it and can unseal it when they want.

Still, it completely tanks the main message, how can you have a anti racism message when you know one race will ultimately die out?

As for Fodlan and how it deals with racism...

the thing with kaga games that makes you really appreciate them is that once you play the ones not on Nintendo consoles you really start to understand just how much meaning the guy was shoving into a single sentence. not that the sagas don’t flirt with implication, but compared to jugdral (or for that matter, archanea) they are far more direct and detailed in their descriptions of practically everything. in terms of understanding a kaga story, they might well be necessary for readers who have not yet acquired the skills to understand Implication- then you can head back to Jugdral and pattern-match lines there so as to not utterly embarrass yourself by saying the game does not address something when it absolutely does.

i would still say the jugdral games are better- kaga benefits from an editor both in gameplay design and writing- but if you really don’t understand what makes their stories good and think people are hallucinating, it might be time for you to pick up TRS before your next replay.

Kaga isn’t the game design genius fans of the old games think he is. Vestaria Saga had fun parts but it was a terrible slog just like Genealogy and at times Thracia.

The Gaiden magic system is literally 10x more fun than tomes/staves and should have been the standard for the whole franchise

I want More fire emblem characters in smash. Honestly I’d love a Fire Emblem fighting game on its own but until that day I’ll drink the tears of Geno fans gladly

The generation mechanics are fun and the matchmaking approach to supports is fun. (The problems with Genealogy lie elsewhere). I wouldn’t mind another game with them even if it’s Fates level tacked on.

If the protagonist is gonna be a special snowflake dragon instead of a random ass Marth type you need to go whole hog and make them a manekete!! That was fate’s best idea!

The Kaizo difficult hard modes (like the lunatic+ modes and H5 in the Archanea remakes) have always been a waste of time both for the developers and the players. No one enjoys these. Stop making them

i am... really, really autistic about the archanea saga, and fire emblem 3/12 in particular are my favorite games in the entire series. i also like fire emblem 7! need to replay fe8 lol

i am... amenable to modernfe: i think awakening is pretty good if deeply flawed, i hate fates, and if i told you everything i have to say about 3h (a lot, not all of it is positive) we'd be here all day. i haven't played engage and i don't really want to.

but i digress. expect posts about archanea primarily, and especially about characters you never expected a real living person to have such in-depth opinions about

the reason a lot of the fe community doesn't count archanea saga as a mainline fire emblem game is because it's actually part of the same series as tearring saga and vestaria saga, known colloquially as the "Kaga Saga"

crimson flower isnt the bad d ending or villains route each route is a hero's route for three houses. though crimson flower is the route best for fodlan and byleth. its not a human fuck yeh route and edelgards ideals match the ideals of the heroic lords before her while dimitri matches zephiel who felt it would be better to be ruled by dragons. fire emblem has a trend of dragons starting shit then humanity reacting badly etc Archanea saga and Medeus’s story embodies this 1/2
