I have a huge lipstick obsession, so naturally your post about leaving lipstick on henry in more way than one 😝 slaughtered me!!! I’m specifically in love with Charlotte Tilbury lip products because they’re so beautiful, elegant, and luxurious, and I definitely could see Henry buying her lipsticks for his beloved 🤤

Her classic packaging is amazing, but there’s something extra special about her collectible cases that can be refilled with any color, and I think Henry would go for those more 😩

GAHHH!!! thank you so, so much for this submission!!! i, too, cannot get enough of lipstick. i wear it religiously, feel naked without it — in fact, one of my friends made a comment that i wear lipstick like a statement. i have never forgotten that.

anyhow!

i want everyone to look at these marvelous, lustrous, gorgeous lipsticks righttttt now. admittedly, i love everything silver and gold, which is why this is simply a dream to me. plus, the thought of henry gifting you something like that... packaged all luxuriously, bound in a sheer maroon ribbon, presented to you in a neat, little gift bag... god. god!

everyone always talks about how mike has rocks in his head and to be clear - we are all so, SO correct!! but i would also like to acknowledge that will is also pulling up with pebbles where his brain is supposed to be. i could go on and on about how he doesn't notice that his boy best friend mike flirts with him at every given opportunity and looks at him like he hand painted every single star in the sky, but like, he can get away with that ig cause he's gay in the 80s, selfless, kind, beautiful perfect etc etc etc. 🙄

Wait okay I need someone with more fluency in Japanese than me to weigh in on what I'm seeing here:

This is a word from a speech bubble on the lady Archiviste page of the VnC 58 teaser. The kanji there is the word "story," but the furigana spells out "world." It reads to me like she's simultaneously saying something like "the stories we've seen" and "the worlds we've seen."

Am I reading this right? Is there, like, cultural and linguistic context for this that I'm missing? Is this a pre-existing play on words? Or am I right that this is kind of implying that the speaker is equates the ideas of "story" and "world?"

I'll put the full page under the cut in case the context makes a difference.

Question about Moisés “Mo” Bondia:

Does he constantly get asked whether he was named Moisès because of Shavuot? And does he say yes, or have to explain every time over again that his parents had chosen the name regardless, and it was purely a coincidence?

Ooh, good question! Thank you, anon 💕

Meta-wise, his name and birthday both being associated with Shavuot is more of a coincidence. I chose the name Moisés way before I decided on his birthday... and the latter was based purely on wanting to make him a Taurus (which happens to fall between Passover and Shavuot anyway!—I guess that's bashert).

But within the canon I've created, his parents probably did name Moisés after the holiday 😆

As for whether he gets asked about his name's origins a lot... I'm leaning towards no, but I also think it depends. (In my head, I got all Jewish Nerd™ and into the weeds thinking about this lol, but I'll try to be succinct here.)

...I think it depends on a few things, like how much knowledge or experience the largely (lay) Catholic townspeople in the Encanto have about Judaism/Jewish holidays. If the Bondias were the only Jews they knew, it's possible that they would have learned a bit about Judaism through Ester and Jonás... and maybe even learned directly from them that Mo was named after the holiday. And if that became common knowledge along the way, then there might not be a need to keep asking.

Another thing I can see happening is the townspeople assuming much more generally that Moisés was named after, well, Moisés (Moses). ...They might also ask if there's a Passover connection before ever mentioning Shavuot, the lesser-known of the two holidays.

Big height difference. Simon I imagine is maybe like around 5’10-11ish, whilst Ludwig like I mentioned is 6’9

I hc Simon as usually not very talkative with other church members, however it’s fun to imagine him being a bit more chatty when he’s with Ludwig and stuff since unlike everyone else he actually listens :]

They occasionally have banter with each other and by that I mean Simon will occasionally just mess around with Ludwig sometimes; however not in a mean way just like in his usual sly kinda mysterious way like the one you see him when you first meet him

Surprisingly make a good hunting duo - Ludwig’s got the type of strength that goes nicely with Simon’s agility and also the fact that Simon can cover for him with his bowblade

I mentioned this before but I’m mentioning it again dammit: when Simon got injured and his vision became impaired, Ludwig stayed by his side until he recovered and knew that he could be semi-alright on his own, and then for a bit he’d just tag along in like the back just to make sure he’d be fine alone

Ludwig’s very much aware how Laurence feels about Simon, and whilst he’s very much still loyal to the church, Ludwig will always at least try and defend Simon from some of the harsher comments about him

Continuing from that hunter duo comment, they also go well together as hunter partners as Simon knows the all the little crevices of Yharnam like the back of his hand, maybe even more so than Ludwig himself

Ludwig’s horse is skittish around Simon for whatever reason (probably because he sneaks up a lot maybe that’s why lol)

sometimes like if they’re sitting down Simon will just lean his back up against Ludwig’s until either he or both of them end up falling over lol

"Although, really it's a bit of a stupid story if I'm being honest, but the scar's cool as hell and that counts for something, yeah?

“It was one of my first jobs with a trade caravan, just as an extra pair of hands-- green as I was, they wouldn’t have hired someone like me as an armed guard even if I’d thought to offer back then, but it’s easy enough to prove I can haul shit around, and not a lot of folks are keen to take the pass north of Stormridge in any case so they were happy for the extra help.

"We were five days into the Wildcrest Mountains-- about halfway through. It was just starting to get into nightfall, and we were trying to push through to a sheltered spot one of the guards knew was a little ways ahead to camp for the night, when we heard the howlin up in the ridges, and comin down toward us.

"Now, we get wolves out in Crickhollow, sometimes; usually just one by itself skulkin round the pastures, and if they can catch em in time it mostly only takes a few dogs to run em off back where they came. We’d spotted some goblin scouts makin eyes at the caravan a few days earlier and spooked em away easy enough with a bit of barkin of our own, so when we heard the wolves I figured I knew what we were in for. But let me tell you: wolves in the mountains are different than the ones you get round halfling country. It’s cold, and hard, and it makes em strong, and it makes em hungry.

"We had six armed guards with us, proper kitted with swords and shields and all, and of course I was out there with Corker, hangin back a bit just not to get underfoot of em. They were spreadin out to circle the wagons, but the wolves had the jump on us and came leapin out the dark before we were ready. Biggest godsdamned things I ever saw! One slipped through and went straight for the horses, but I was ready for him-- hit him midair and sent him reelin away, and I figured that’d be the end of it for that one. Turned around and saw another one was lungin and snappin at one of the guards-- skinny lad called Derek-- and had him in a bad way; it’d got him offbalance, and looked about to take him down. I was to em before I could even think-- well, what else could I have done? The wolf had got its teeth in him, but it didn’t see me coming-- I hauled off-- WHACK-- cracked him square in the face, must have damn near caved his skull in! Just as he was getting his bearings, and I was pulling back for another swing-- the bloody bastard I’d clipped earlier came in from behind and sank every damn one of his teeth into me, and dragged me to the ground.

"Well, Derek managed to get his feet under him in time to stop the other one from jumpin in and tearin my damn guts out, but only just. The one that had me by the shoulder had a death grip on me-- I was swinging Corker round like mad, but I couldn’t get any good blows in like that, on the ground and backwards and with only one arm. Still put in a fair fight, for all that-- I was snarlin like a beast myself, grabbin for its face with my left hand best I could. Then suddenly he dropped me, yowling somethin awful. Another guard, big fella called Radimir, saw him layin into me and ran him straight through. Good thing, too! If I’d been alone out there that would have been it for me. Stupid way to learn not to put your back to a wolf, but it’s always better to have friends to back you up anyway. Especially when you’ve got more muscles than good sense, haha!

"Anyway, the rest of the pack did take off after seeing we could put up more fight than they wanted-- they’re tough, not stupid. No one was hurt except a couple of the fighters and myself, and we made it to the outpost just fine. I hadn’t really imagined I’d be spendin my first couple weeks in Pelora laid up all in bandages with a broken collar, but hey, it gave me a good story for breakin ice at taverns. Bit more impressive to talk about than this-- [she points to one mark among many on her arms, brown with age]-- that I got trying to help with the bakin when I was six…"
