So, I'm watching a ton of Atop the Fourth Wall stuff and something made me laugh a ton was the line: "When were you planning on telling me I was getting 6 roommates?" Like, yeah. With Comicron One destroyed and the team having to move out of the apartment, everyone would have to stay on Earth and that was all Viga is introduced as: Linkara's Roommate. So, just imagine the whole situation in-universe. She is just looking for someone to split the rent with and this guy applies for it, she does a bit of googling, guy seems okay. He shows up with a floating blue robot, a living foam lizard who hasn't slept in days and is existing purely on coffee at this point, as well as a lounge singer, a mad scientist with spiral goggles that he refuses to take off, and a twenty-something that says stuff like "pogs" just as the ending to a sentence. She is also informed that every now and again, some random demon is gonna manifest and take up a whole bunch of space to review horror comics and that there's also gonna be a space cowboy from another dimension that pops by every now and again with his wife so thats gonna be a thing. I dunno, I just think that the whole idea of having Linkara (the character) as a roommate must have been wild for the first few months.

And now for something completely different.

Until the ‘A Piece of the World is Missing’ storyline, Linkara had always been able to defeat the ‘big bad’ of a story arc through fighting. Oh sure, he didn’t always win and sometimes there were phycological attacks to overcome first but in the end, Linkara could always prevail with a little help from his friends.

That all went out of the window with ‘A Piece of the World is Missing.’ Something started making people disappear and Linkara’s list of allies started getting shorter. However, even if Linkara and the whole gang had been there to face the Entity at the end, they still wouldn’t have won because some things can’t be beaten with force no matter how big or magical your gun is. When you are facing an Outer God that has absorbed whole universes and plans to make all of reality a part of itself, you really don’t stand a chance.

I’m glad that this storyline wasn’t fixed through a big silly Power Rangers like fight at the end (though they are enjoyable). It wouldn’t have made sense and would have diminished the threat that the Entity represented.

The Entity knew that Linkara was never a danger. It was happy to let him work that out and feel scared and depressed before excepting his situation because there was no choice. It played with played with Linkara, like a cat with a mouse, except that the mouse sometimes escapes and Linkara would never have stood a chance of even that.

‘A Piece of the World is Missing’ was the first introduction to the Technumina. The Technumina is a pantheon of Outer Gods, Lovecraftian monstrosities that are all based in some way on technology with the Entity being a glitch in reality itself.

This is the first storyline which I watched from the beginning as it started coming out. I loved every minute of it. If you’ve never watched the show and you’re watching this video, while you’ll probably enjoy it, you’ll miss half the fun. The fandom had a great time trying to work out what the Entity was and a lot of people succeeded.

Since 90’s Kid (now 90’s Dude) had interrupted episodes plenty of times before (those interruptions haven’t made it into these completions cos they aren’t part of the storyline), at first, we didn’t realise that those new ones were anything out of the ordinary. Later in the storyline, we did start to realise something might be wrong with 90’s Kid but it was a slowly growing list of clues which tipped people off.

This storyline came out when Linkara was on his old website and didn’t have YouTube videos. Linkara used to approve all comments before letting them go through and some fans took advantage of the fact that he had anon comments to pretend to be the Entity in the comments section. I’ll always love the fact that Linkara just went with it. After the storyline had been completed, he admitted that he hadn’t had anything to do with writing those comments but he wished he’d thought of it first.

Who knew that Pokémon could be so terrifying? Apart from anyone who’s actually read some of the more horrifying Pokédex entries that is (looking at you Yamask).

is anyone else emotionally invested and worried about 90′s Kid?

I mean: someone he considers family is also someone who constantly berates him (and except for I guess Linkara explaining to Lupa that he’s great with mechanics I'm pretty sure no-one defends him), he was possessed for at least a year by an outer god who wanted to absorb everything, and he was the first person in the house to be bullied by holokara. His joining Vyce doesn’t surprise me, but it worries me and not just because he went to an inter dimensional conquerer [whom he helped take down initially and even suggest shooting again while he was down]before going to the people he considers family but Linkara apparently said his age was like 13 or something, how has he been living? I doubt, as data, Vyce eats or sleeps but I'm pretty sure 90′s kid needs those things so where has he been staying and how has he been buying food?

I’m just really worried about 90′s kid ok?

AT4W and aging

I wanted to open this with the video so I can talk about something...Aging and such.  

See, with my mom eariler tonight I rewatched the entirety of the Vyce arc and well, it aged well. I mean really well. As in, everything that I enjoyed back then I enjored now with just as much love if not more. This is interesting because of my feelings about the CA anniversary specials have been lowered as time went on. I think I might know why this is and if you’ll bear with me I can examine it.

See, first of all is the behind the scenes information. As of late, it’s becoming harder for me to not watch the anniversary specials and not think of things like Orlando almost breaking his neck, the selfishness of the Walkers, their stupidity, and other failings of the behind the scenes. IT also doesn’t help that the story got weaker thanks in no small part to the fourth film. In TBF the horror stories are even worse and the  tales of incompetance are legendary. But, you don’t need my word for it. Just look up Lupa and the others and they can say it.

The Vyce arc, and indeed a lot of the other story lines don’t have those skeletons. Even the movie doesn’t. Call it luck of the draw or how Linkara was really working alone for a lot of it, bu the point is that I can go back and watch it without thinking about how 90′s kid was treated like slime or how Harvey was talked into playing a rape scene with Pollo. 

And please for the love of Celestia on high do not tell me there is a fic like that. 

However, I believe I would be mistaken if I think that a horrifying backstory was my only problem with the specials. I think, another thing that can help the films vs the AT4W plots is that, well, if I were to be honest with myself, I think Linkara is just a better story teller with a better handle on what it means to be a character. I find this odd because I have read somewhere that Doug is more of a character person while Rob (his frequent partner) is plot centric. Sadly, I find this to be less beliveably the more often I go back to TBF and others. I mean, Doug is good at looking at characters all right, himself. 

Let’s not forget, there are frequent stories of how Doug would want the characters to be played as he would play them. Often with just, “Ehhh just do it.” So, Linkara is turned meaner because that is how the critic would act, Brad is more desprate because that is how Doug would write him.  While Kickassia was less obivious in this aspect, it gets worse as the films go on to where there are hints of it in SK and you could easily replace each guy with Doug in TBF and you would never notice the difference!

Linkara isn’t like that. Not only is there a feeling of actual effort into making the characters feel themselves, but a better empahsis on character in general. Tvtropes keeps talking about how the NC grew and how he obiviously had effects of the films on him through the other reviews or how he wanted to be a daddy on reviews after SK. Well, I would love to know where all of that is because I SURE AS HELL DONT SEE IT!! Linkara I can tell has grown, has changed, and has become better through his experiences in his adventures.  

Not only is there a better focus on him as a character, but the plot is more focused. As there is a lot of growth and the character feels like he actually does something. Hell, if you were to compare the two, then you would ask yourself...whos the better hero. 

Film Brain: Well, I can’t think of anybody better to lead us than you critic.

Critic: You are only saying it because Linkara isn’t here.

When I watch an AT4W story, I feel more engaged and more entertained than I do one of the NCs. Again, because I feel like Linara is a better character and Lewis has a better handle on a story.

I’ll probably come up wiht more later, but hey...its been 10 years for Linkara, while CA also had the same thing. LEts get to anylizing shall we?

Just thinking about past events - spoilers for at4w 9/21/17.

While curiosity played at least some part I'm the Entity deciding to kill itself last time, this time it was just complete despair.  Linkara was even this time trying to suggest other options for it to explore, probably because this time around it didn't hurt anyone besides him and Margret. And there is definitely presidence for Linkara to forgive that.

Also, a bunch of characters have now have run in with despair.  The heroic characters lived because of their friends ( Linkara found Harvey before he died. Marzgurl took command of the ship before Mechakara blew them all up. ) The villainous characters died.  The Entity didn't have anyone to help, and the second time it sorta tried to ask and then refused.  Vyce seems to be going down the second path.  Especially since he just backhanded 90's Kid, who is the only one who would do something for Vyce out of kindness.

BTW, I could feel every bit of goodwill Vyce had built in the the fandom evaporate at that point.  it was magical.

I remembered this undertale/at4w xover I'd put a lot of effort into a while ago and i still love a lot of the parts of it. highlights from the notes i made for sketches i did/planned before switching fandom focus:

- Frisk is Pollo since there was a joke clip about Pollo not being able to talk when first created. Chara is Mechakara, the AU version of Pollo Frisk who killed their Linkara Sans and wears them as a makeshift suit because of course they do. - Sans walking in on this copy of himself talking shit about the show’s audience during a review. The copy standing up and laughing, voice shifting away from sans’ own voice, before sans just sits down and starts to review a comic. When the copy (Chara) calls him out on this, Sans just "oh, right. you're still standing there." before his eyes go black and the gaster blaster appears and shoots Chara off frame before San returns to the comic. rip chara - Papyrus is Allen, Linkara's friend in the FBI or whatever who Linkara was super distrustful of, but Allen gave him a chance when he saw Link's show and saw he was a chill dude. Paps as the only reason a sniper didn't take sans out already. paps with a speech about how he knows Sans isn't happy about the government getting involved in his life (side effects of getting a space ship with weapons on it), but paps just wants to be his friend and he thinks sans is a good person that can be trusted. later on sans admitting paps is the best friend ever though. - "LAST YEAR [FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY] I GOT YOU A JOKE BOOK." "and it was a good joke book." - paps offering to take sans home because he is super drunk. sans "no, /i/ am taking /you/ home, because /i/ can teleport" - “LET’S GET YOU TO BED, OKAY?” “okay…” “OKAY!” “hey, papyrus?” “YES?” “thanks for getting the snipers recalled.” “DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT, SANS! YOU SLEEP WELL, OKAY?" I forgot how much I loved paps as allen - paps admitting he’s doing his job because, while the government may have lots of issues with it, he believes in helping out as many people as he can. I fucking forgot how much i loved paps as allen -"(having expected the pizza delivery person, showing a look of betrayal)...you're not pizza" "I'M SAUCIER THAN PIZZA!" I fucking forgot - the underfell AU was the mirrorverse. it was literally just underfell AU Sans in a version of the evil spock beard - toriel was liz and that was good. for a while there tori being the only one sans felt could carry on his series (and fill the pun quota) if something happened to him - 'also, can the Linkara Lost arc just be called Sans Sans for this, i really need that.' nice one past me - Undyne was Jaeris. Her thanking Sans for helping to finally get her back to her home dimension. him reminding her he stranded her there in the first place. Her frowning immediately. "Oh yeah.... Up yours! ...Thanks, but mostly up yours!" - this isn't even the xover i just had a note about this and i still love this line for Link and Jaeris after Jaeris hugged him in thanks for helping him finally get home for the holidays “You know they’re gonna write fanfic about this.” “Who cares!? I’m not gonna be around to read it!” Jaeris is honestly the best char with the best lines no lie - Monster Kid was 90s Kid and Flowey was the Entity. instead of "I see you Linkara" scribbled in the book as a challenge, it was "I see you Trashbag" - “I am the outer god that looks in and beholds a world that lacks a best friend.” - Alphys was Linksano but more importantly Metaton was Eliza, the foam lizard linksano gave sentience to so he could give her as a gift to linkara. Alphys: S-so you don’t l-like it? Sans: i’m not saying that. i just...wish you wouldn’t play god around christmas time. Alphys: So w-when IS a good t-time to play God, then? Sans: never would be nice. - sans asking frisk if they ever wonder if they'll end up like chara, "hating humanity and hating [him]". Frisk assuring Sans no, they never wonder that, before finding out though that Sans does worry about that. frisk assuring sans they're friends, they hold absolutely no ill wishes towards sans and will never turn against them. later on when frisk sacrifices their life to stop chara in a wrath of khan spock dying moment while reviewing a comic based on that movie: *You tell him... you stopped the other you. "...they aren’t you..." *You remind him he said he was afraid... you might become like them. You hope... this proves otherwise. "...you didn’t have to prove anything. you’re nothing like ‘em, kid. you’re my friend..." - PAPS FUCKING DYING IN THE MOVIE THANKS TO CHARA AND THEN THEY FIND A PLANET THAT CAN HEAL AND RESTORE PEOPLE AND SANS INSISTING THEY BRING PAPS' BODY DOWN TO SEE IF HE CAN BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE “How long do we wait?” “long as we have to.” “...I hate to say this, but he might have been gone for too long.” “...i know... but i had to try.” - Holographic sans threatening to rip Monster Kid's heart out of his fucking body if he keeps interrupting. sounds about right, that tracks.  - this bit but holo and real sans. it’s just such a badass fucking scene i love it so i gotta include it in the xover - 'I don’t know if One More Day would be the BIGGEST point of anger for sans, at least enough where it’d be the one worthy being used in the ‘fix it or i total your company’s building’ ultimatum holokara gives, but i do think it’d piss him off just like it does for linkara. I think every reboot, either within the narrative or not, would to a point. same with the ‘proactive’/killer portrayals of commonly just characters or the needless shock deaths of beloved characters. It’s all got the same feel of resets and genocide runs and even if this sans hasn’t gone through all that, there’s an echo across the verses that’s strong enough to frustrate this sans every time he sees it in a comic. Just one of those things that’d push him close to a snapping point if he doesn’t get a helpful little nudge to be careful about what he’s willing to do for the greater good.' - sans teleporting out instead of just running but frisk pushes them back in frame and tells them to just do it. Sans not happy with this. - re one of the commercial bumpers where he wore his sniper cosplay: “that pyrope’s a spy!” - “[no, i trust you just fine. i don’t trust the technicians.] you can vouch for them all you want, but they’re not you, so i don’t trust them, papyrus.” - River Woman was Moarte oh no???? that’s actually pretty good??? - I literally never settled on a harvey??? I briefly considered Asgore because of dead kid and Grillby becaue of similar clothing style and relay with sans to harvey re linkara. but i never had a concrete harvey picked out.

Before the 90's X-Men cartoon, there was a thing called Pryde Of the X-Men that was the pilot for a show that never got picked up but it ended up being a great memorable beat em up game that a lot of kids remember from their childhoods.

AT4W characters and the Hogwarts Houses I think they’d be in

Gryffindor- Allen and Harvey Finevoice

Allen is a bit like Arthur Weasley. He does a government job that few people would want but he believes in his work and enjoys it.

Harvey Finevoice likes being the centre of attention and often goes on singing tours around the country. While others in Linkara’s team are better with technology and overpowered weapons, Harvey is still willing to throw himself into a fight to protect his friends/ save the world.

Slytherin- Linkara and Jaeris

Let’s get this out of the way, being a Slytherin does NOT mean you’re evil. Linkara is a Slytherin and still the hero. He is cunning and clever. Pride can be his downfall but he’s still a loyal friend.

Jaeris fights hard for the cause he believes in and is willing to do shady things to accomplish his goals. He’s not show offy enough to be a Gryffindor.

Ravenclaw- Erin, Pollo, Linksano and Ninue

Yes, Erin is a thief but let’s be real here, she steals historical and magical items so that she can make videos telling everyone how cool they are. If that’s not Ravenclaw, I don’t know what is.

Pollo is clever, wiser than most of the others and always ready with a snarky remark.

You thought Linksano would be a Slytherin just cos he wanted to take over the word at one point? Nope! He just needed some direction in life. Once Linkara had given him a job and Linksano was able to apply himself, he was happy to do SCIENCE! while blowing up the occasional test tube.

Ninue just wants to do her job of running a spaceship and do it well. Her efforts are in vain because the humans keep getting into dangerous situations and the world is constantly in danger.

Hufflepuff (my house)- 90’s Kid, Margert and Boffo

90’s Kid could easily have been a Ravenclaw as he’s clever enough. However, the thing about Hufflepuffs is that they don’t count being intelligent, brave or ambitious (the things that define the other Houses) as the most important thing. 90’s Kid cares more about being happy. He works hard making sure that the team is prepared to deal with any threat and is loyal to his friends.

Margert has been through some awful things but she managed to come out the other side of it and still be a good person. She believes in the good of other people and will help them find their way if they start going down a dark path.

Boffo is a Hufflepuff. This guy just wants to make others happy.
