2022 Bingo Masterpost

Posted my last fic of the year yesterday, which means I’m done with my 2022 sandbox bingo! I was aiming for a blackout, but I guess 4 bingos aren’t bad.

I realized how helpful bingo is for me, so I’ll be having a personal one again! Will be multifandom this time and is basically just a glorified to-do list. Hoping that putting ideas and WIPs in a bingo will help me actually do them. 🙏

Gonna add the remaining five prompts from this square to my new one too, placing them on the same squares because I feel like otherwise it’s not a total win. This is the competitive Choi Minho in me. Might post it here too since I am trying to use this account more but logging in... blegh.......

Anyway. I just wanted a place to list all my 2022 bingo fics (since I didn’t put the fics in a collection or a series), so here I am.

Summary:

Itaru is used to being a solo player but now he's doing co-op in one of the most domestic games possible.

Itaru is bewildered.

He's not new to games that are on the slow side. TBH, his go-to are competitive games or those ridiculous gacha he has to maddeningly overcome to make his wives come home, but he's not averse to the likes of simulation games such as Creature Crossing or The Bims. There's a certain peace about taking your time for once after an entire week of utilizing your single brain cell at work. Not that ranking can't be mindless, but it's so much more vulnerable to small disturbances (what he doesn't lack of, living in a dorm with 25 other people). Exploring without worrying about the meta or the best pulls? Sometimes it's the dream situation.

The thing is, he usually plays these games alone. Even with the internet friends he had met over the years, he hardly ever did more than a trade when he needed to. The games are meant to work even when you're solo, fitting him perfectly fine.

But ever since he's entered Mankai, he actually gets to have a player 2 or even player 3 or 4 by his side. Playing games doesn't have to be a solitary event where he's all alone throughout the night before the sun starts to rise.

He can confidently rely on his teammates during a raid and not have to guess how much he can trust this stranger from the internet. 

It's nice, actually.

So when Citron suggests that their little group of gamers go and start a multiplayer mode of Moondew Valley, Itaru opts in.

He’s played the game before by himself a few years back, but since then multiplayer has been added and a whole lot of other neat functions he had never seen before.

Unexpectedly, Banri went along with them, despite never having played a farming game before this.

“You’ve never played Farm Life? Ever? What’s wrong with you?”

“How is farming any fun? At least I could go against some strong AI in other games. What the hell would be so fun controlling some guy watering some plants?”

"Don't underestimate the joy of being a plant dad. Back in my day, you appreciated the little things."

"Dunno whether to burn you for saying you're a plant dad when you're at the bottom of the list of people Tenma would leave his bonsai too - I'm up and way above you by the way - or for admitting that you're an artifact, not that you're Sakyo-san old."

"SHHH. WHAT IF SAKYO-SAN HEARS YOU."

No surprise, Banri adapts to the game like a fish in water. Their weekends comprises mostly of the two of them lounging around in Itaru's room (Chikage is out, as usual), Itaru on his large gaming set-up and Banri at the table or Itaru's bed, clicking away on his laptop. Instead of their scathing remarks against each other or other players, their conversations now start off with "Can you take care of the…" and "It's mine time, baby."

NGL, Itaru thought they would taper off this kind of play early on, but now a whole year in-game has passed and they're near restoring the old community shack. 

"You're a pretty cozy player, huh."

Banri narrows his eyes. "What does that mean?"

"Nothing. It's comfy to play with you. I thought I'd be more bored." Given having played in the past and being more used to high energy battles.

"Heh, me too. Didn't think the domestic rural life suited you, Itaru-san."

"Yo, Itaru-san, you okay? You're all red now."

"Shut up," Itaru grumbles. "Go and buy your upgraded sword already."

Casting Mystery: Banita Sandhu

Last year the casting for three new Original Characters was announced by the Bridgerton official account, we have very little information to go on who they are and how they fit in to the show, but it is not those three that have got some parts of the fandom excited, but rather the (unannounced) casting of Banita Sands.

According to Banita's agent website she is playing a character called Sita Malhorta, and is listed as a recurring character in Season 3. As fans speculate on who Sita Malhorta may be, and wonder why she was not announced with the other new original characters, two main theories have emerged.

Sita Malhorta is a code name for Sophia Maria, the names of book character Sophie Beckett. If this is the case then this means the viewers will be introduced to Sophie in S3 and Benedict will finally have his season in Season 4.

Sita Malhorta is Kate's mother, and she will appear in some form of flashback or dream sequence. If this is who the character is then that will mean we would be getting more than one flashback / dream sequence of Kate and her mother as Banita is listed as recurring and will likely be in multiple episodes. This will please fans of Kate due to the lack of attention many feel her character received during her own season.

There are two further theories I have seen, however, these do not appear to be as popular as the first two.

Sita Malhorta will be the nanny for baby Edmund. I find this theory unlikely due to her being credited with a first name and surname. In the credits for the show, with the exception of a select few, none of the staff for any of the houses are credited with names, even ones that have speaking roles (such as footman John). So the fact that Banita is credited with a name, and listed as a recurring character I do not think she will be domestic staff, unless she is Sophie.

The final theory is that she is a cousin of Kate's. I am not sure where this idea came from, except the fact that Banita is Indian. I also don't see a reason for a cousin of Kate's to be present in London during the season for multiple seasons, this will again give Kate a storyline centred around a family member as opposed to her having a storyline that is focussed on her and her growth as a character.

My personal view is that one of the first two theories are the most likely.

If she is Kate's mother, I can see an arc with Kate perhaps having dreams of her mother, this can be as a result of her becoming pregnant, or just being anxious in her new role. Whilst it will be unusual for such a storyline to go over multiple episodes, it isn't unheard of as in Season 1 Simon's flashbacks lasted more than one episode.

However, I think the most likely of these theories is that she will be Sophie, but her character (for S3 anyway) will be called Sita Malhorta. Rather than it being a codename from the production, I think the name will be a pseudonym Sophie uses in order to remain 'hidden' and the reveal of her real name will potentially be in the final episode. This could be a good tactic for the show to use, essentially hiding Sophie in plain sight of the viewers. For this to work however, she will need to meet Benedict in a different way to how she does in the books, in order to attempt to throw the viewers off the scent. Though with many in the fandom thinking she will be Sophie maybe this subterfuge will no longer work.

Of course, with all my theories, I could be completely wrong, and she is just another debutante who appears at a few balls, and has no connection to any of the Bridgertons at all.

There's a rumour that Banita Sandhu is going to be Sophie in season 3, and that's great, but honestly I'll be just as happy if she plays the modiste who Penelope/LW bankrupted to save her own ass in season 2. Either Banita, or any other actress could play this character, preferably in a confrontation scene with the woman who ruined her livelihood. It's at least a modicum of consolation that the character deserves, plus the fact that Marina is not in season 3 to speak for herself anymore.

Banri's rich background versus Itaru's hard-earned salary - who will win this war of spoiling the other?

It's no secret that Banri is stinkin' loaded. Besides not having to put much effort into lessons or recreational activities, he has all the resources in the world to waste his time with. He needs new shoes? Any will do. Brand doesn't matter. The game lags on his current laptop? Easy, replace it. Need some formal wear? His dad is a regular at one of those fancy schmancy places, no problem.

He basically has a black card for all of his needs and it has never let him down. Ever.

Except for the time he can't actually use it because a certain gamer won't let him buy the freakin' snacks for their all-nighter!

"I-ta-ru-san," Banri says, enunciating each syllable clearly. He's smiling but a vein in his head is near bursting. "Didn't I tell ya to let me handle the goods?"

He looks away for one moment and the sneaky devil manages to pay the cashier right under his nose. Said cashier shifts their gaze between them, probably thinking they aren’t paid enough to deal with petty fights like these.

And they aren’t, so Banri better make his point clear and fast.

Itaru looks all smarmy with his work smile, ready to negotiate a business plan or something or whatever it is salarymen do.

"And didn't I tell you to let the adult with the grown-ass job handle it. You better save up while you're still a student, you rich kid." Itaru snorts at him and it makes Banri twitch.

He licks his lips. Let's see about that.

"Alright, you win this time, whatever."

 Itaru smirks in triumph.

"I'll go and buy that on-sale powerbank." Banri waves as he walks away. Itaru's previous powerbank had been destroyed by the downpour yesterday and he spent a whole 10 minutes mourning it before they started their co-op campaign. Even then, his sulking was evident with his more-aggressive-than-usual malding.

Itaru catches up to him and grabs his wrist. "Don't you dare. Stop teasing this regular office worker, unless you want another one of those leopard prints to be part of your wardrobe starting tomorrow."

To anyone else, it would be a threat (he knows because Yuki, their number one fashionista who he shops regularly with, has expressed disgust towards his go-to style), but for Banri, a new outfit is a total plus. So a threat in the opposite direction! As expected of an experienced ranking gamer.

How can a piece of clothing compare to a powerbank? Well it ain't about the price, it's the flexing! If Itaru will spoil him, Banri will return it tenfold! 

Ha! But what Itaru doesn't know is that this has been Banri's aim all along. He's no noob when it comes to compromise or getting to that point.

He always knows how to get what he wants in the end.

"I order the pizza later and we'll call it even."

"Don't go buying me stuff while I'm hard at work tomorrow and AFK."

"Deal."

"Yuki-kun, are they possibly...fighting?" Sakuya asks, wide-eyed. He looks around them, already seeing some on-lookers stare at the pair by the cashier. What if they get scolded by Sakyo or Izumi for making a scene?

Yuki rolls his eyes and clicks his tongue. "No. They're flirting and it's utterly sickening."
