Okay, I get that Scar and Grian never left the desert and I get that Ren and Martyn never made it to spring but, let’s be honest, Bdubs and Cleo never left the crastle. I mean, almost every season, even if they’re not even remotely allied, Cleo asks “You’d never betray me, right?” And everytime, Bdubs answers “No. Never.” AND THE WHOLE SPEECH IN LAST LIFE “I trust Bdubs, and Bdubs trust you, so I trust you.” AND WHEN CLEO CHASTISED BDUBS FOR LYING IN DOUBLE LIFE! “Bdubs you should not be lying to me!” AND BDUBS IMMEDIATELY CRUMBLING UNDER PRESSURE! Shoutout to @/agenticed’s little Stockshop fic called Infestation which is technically about hysterical domestic shenanigans but got me spinning some horrific horrific Stockman headcanons again <3333

⚠️ Full warning, this gets a little fucked up and graphic, Insane In The Membrane style.

Like…… after everything, I think Stockman has some majorrrr trauma about rot (for Insane In The Membrane reasons) and rodents (for Mousers reasons) specifically, but also pests in general.

His lab is always, always pristine. The moment something got used it’s getting rinsed, everything goes back in its place, and partially this is just y’know, general lab safety, it’s good practice. But part of it is, what if something doesn’t get cleaned properly right away, what if you touch something and it will react with your skin, eat at it, melt it, ruin it.

He can’t leave dishes in the sink. The moment the food’s eaten, everything is getting washed, or he’s never gonna bring himself to touch it. What if it rots? What if there’s mold? What if he accidentally breathes it in? What if it catches onto him, roots in his flesh, burrows too deep in him to ever be rid of it?

It’s the worst with dead bodies, honestly. He doesn’t see many of them these days (thank God) but working with the organic Mousers can lead to the occasional corpse, either of a Mouser or something it had caught, and while dissecting his own creations properly in his lab tends to be fine (safe space, familiar process on a familiar project, focus on the science like you always have, you can always rely on science), the Mousers are experimental and sometimes die outside while working and have to be retrieved. Sometimes it takes a while for people to retrieve them.

And those can be terrifying.

When the flesh smells of rot and is being overtaken by scavengers, worms and bugs and all sorts of small living things, when it starts falling apart easier, so much easier than it should, it’s hard not to make it personal. It’s hard not to think about your own lower jaw slowly, gradually, unhinging from where it’s supposed to be, of your eyesight blurring much faster than it’s supposed to, it’s hard not to think of falling apart, witnessing yourself dying long before death takes you.

I think about that a lot.

yeah, me too. david writes journeys for mulder, with clear morals and arcs. the unnatural is about valuing “life on this planet,” finding space for joy and connection in the midst of blinding pursuit. amor fati is about commitment to your purpose, realigning to who you are at the core, who you were as a child. the promises that you made to yourself then. hollywood a.d. is about legacy, what we leave behind: does it matter if it’s warped, or if it’s nothing, so long as we loved and were loved well?

david’s episodes are classic hero’s journeys, active lessons for mulder as a character. but these are all things that scully already knows, so she gets to be passive and lighthearted and wise. they aren’t having anything beaten into them; they’re growing through storytelling, through play, through identification. they’re growing through watching a movie at 3am and rambling to each other. they’re growing through eating gross fake ice cream and reading old newspapers on a saturday morning. they’re growing through swinging a baseball bat, hips before hands, all night under the stars.

#this is why i love his dancing zombies at the end of ‘hollywood a.d.’ so SO much #mulder sitting out on the grass spiralling about how the dead are thought of and spoken about and the things that impact legacy and memory #things that are so deeply important to a man who spends his life chasing ghosts. who lost 2 family members that year #and scully is just next to him giggling and holding his arm like…they’re dead mulder! they don’t care! #eyes lit up waving that bureau credit card at him #and the way he’s just like….sigh. okay. #and gives it up and takes her arm so they can go out #when the music starts playing and you can still see mulder and scully holding hands in the background #and the zombies all get up and dance <33 #one of my favorite moments of the show. they’re happy. and that’s something. #and that’s what i love about david’s eps because who gives a fuck where the zombies came from! #who gives a fuck if the baseball player was really an alien! who gives a fuck who the boy on the beach was! #it doesn’t matter. it’s so metaphorical and just there for the lesson. and the lesson is always loving and beneficial for the characters #asks

Ok last reblog (I’m on mobile so too lazy to add links) mentioned Solarpunk being more about settling down in a location whereas Lunarpunk is more nomadic and traveling on the water and such and

Of a romance story. Or coming of age. Or both?

Of someone living in a solarpunk community along the shore, and someone living in a lunarpunk ocean nomadic community that stops by that shore and stays for a few days/weeks every time they come around. There’s always gardens and extra seats kept in storage for when they come around, warm beds to stay in, etc.

And these two people over time become close friends and maybe even fall for each other? But on top of the song and dance of ‘do I tell them, how to tell them, etc’ they have to also grapple with the fact that one of them stays put and the other is nomadic and their group only swings by once or twice a year on average (for a few weeks each but still)

And they gotta decide (once they finally confess to each other) what they’re gonna do. One person would miss home if they left with the nomads and their family and friends, and one person would miss traveling the seas and THEIR friends and family if they stayed put.

Idk if the solution would be to stay some years and travel others or what but thats ‘not 3am Ani’ to consider

Part of what I’ve always loved about PIE is that if they were put into literally any horror movie, supernatural or not, it would immediately go off the rails entirely, for better or for worse.

In some cases they might ditch the actual bad guy for an even worse threat they managed to summon through existing in one place for too long or something— imagine Jimmy Casket being in the same place as literally any slasher. Like that would instantly start a fight to the death.

… I want to see PIE in a Paranormal Activity movie. I wanna see how that goes. (Probably poorly)
