Jessie woke to warm, soft kisses that trailed from her shoulder to her back. She sighed as Steve’s fingers rubbed from her hip to her sweet petals between her legs. Jessie was feeling aroused by the time he rubbed her clit a few times. If there was anything that Steve was good at it was making her feel good. Steve’s fingers slid their way to her wet channel and slowly pumped two fingers in and out of her. Jessie let out a soft moan from the feeling he was bringing over her as he softly started to speed up his ministrations. She rolled onto her back to make it easier for him to bring her pleasure. Her legs fell open as he continued to work her over.
Steve lightly kissed her forehead while he continued to take her apart. Her breathy moans were building more and more as his fingers found her sweet spot inside her. Rubbing against her spongy wall had her cumming for him.
“Steve!” She moaned out as her back arched off the bed and her fingers held onto the sheets.
Steve climbed on top of her, parting her legs wider, and smiled down at her. “Good morning sweetheart.”
Jessie’s eyes fluttered as she smiled up at him. “Morning Stevie.”
Steve ran his cock through her arousal a few times before he started to sink into her. He dropped to his forearms and started to thrust into her. The slow motions are what they both needed after their wild night between the sheets. Jessie wrapped her legs around his slim waist as he made love to her. Every push and pull had them both groaning in pleasure.
“I-I need more,” Jessie begged.
Steve chuckled against her neck and he whispered in her ear, “More? Wasn’t last night enough? Here I’m trying to be gentle with you and you’re begging me to fuck you. Is that what you want? Me to manhandle you?”
Jessie mewled, “Yes I need it. Want it.”
After a few more thrusts Steve pulled out of her and rolled her to her stomach. Gently he pulled her to her knees while she rested on her arms. Steve grabbed her by the hips and thrust back into her. Jessie’s moan filled the bedroom as Steve started to quicken his pace.
“God, you feel so good wrapped around my cock. I could stay buried inside you all the time.” Steve grabbed her arm and pulled her against his chest while he continued to take her apart.
“Oh God, Stevie right there!” Jessie’s eyes closed from the pleasure he was giving her.
His cock had found her spot that drove her wild and he had to say he loved hearing her moans change in pitch.
“Don’t stop…” She mewled out.
With every squeeze of her walls, Steve was getting closer to his end. He started to plow into her harder. “You wanna cum for me like a good girl?” Jessie could only answer with a groan. “Yeah, you’re gonna take every last drop of me again.” His voice dropped deeper as he whispered in her ear. “Maybe this will be the one to get you pregnant again. God, how I would love to see you grow round with my child. Do you want that?”
That was just what she needed to hear as she came hard for him screaming, “Yes yes yes!”
Her walls hugged his cock tightly and Steve chased his end with a few hard thrusts. He came deep inside her and moaned her name to the heavens. Once he finished he pulled out of her and fell beside her so he could catch his breath.
Jessie looked over at Steve and smiled. “Did you mean it?”
“Mean what sweetheart?”
“That you want to see me grow round with your child. That you want another baby?”’
Steve couldn’t help the grin on his face. “I mean yeah. I missed out on Ben being a baby and I would love to have another with you if you want. Hell, I would marry you tomorrow if you let me.”
Jessie’s eyes filled with happy tears. “I would love another child with you. Maybe we can start talking again about being engaged. I still have the ring you gave me.”
“I would like that doll. Now considering how much sex we had all night and this morning I’m sure something stuck. If not then we will continue to try. Sounds good?”
“Sounds perfect. You know Steve, we sure are dirty, why don’t we take a shower and maybe try again.” Jessie grinned as she got out of bed and ran to her master bathroom.
“You naughty minx. I’m right behind you.” Steve followed Jessie into the bathroom. He didn’t need to be told twice to put a baby in her.
***
Jessie arrived at her job with a spring in her step. Wanda and Nat gave her a knowing smile as she went to the office to clock in. After clocking in Jessie started to wait on people in her section. There was one man who had made her stop in her tracks. He was the same man Steve and her ran into five years ago. He was muscular, with brown hair and green eyes. He was a biker wearing his cut that said Hydra on it. If anything he was in the wrong territory as Steve’s biker club was the main one in this town.
Cautiously she approached the man. “What can I get ya started with today?”
The man looked up at her, his green eyes staring into her blue ones. “Coffee, black. Nothing else sweet cheeks.”
Jessie nodded her head and quickly went to grab a pot of coffee and a mug. She came back, placed the mug down, and poured him a cup. The man nodded his head dismissing her and she went behind the counter to talk to Nat.
“We may have a problem on our hands. I have a Hydra club member sitting in my section. I thought they weren’t allowed to cross over into our town?” Jessie asked Nat.
Nat looked over to the man who was sipping his coffee and watching them. “What did he want?”
“Just coffee.”
“Strange,” Nat stated. “Well, we will keep an eye on him. If he starts anything Bucky, Steve, and the guys are down the road. No need to get them riled up over nothing.”
Jessie agreed and continued to wait on her other customers. The man flagged Jessie down and gave her money for the coffee. When she went to get his change at the register she noticed he walked out and got on his bike. Revving his engine he peeled out of the parking lot and out of sight. Something about him sent a chill down her spine. She would need to tell Steve about this later. For now, Jessie went about her day by staying bust through the lunch rush. It would soon be two o’clock and she would be picking up Ben.
***
It was close to five o’clock when Jessie decided to take Ben and meet Steve at the garage. Ben loved going down there and this would give her a chance to speak with him and Bucky. When she arrived she was greeted by Thor.
Jessie smiled at him. “Hey, are the guys busy? I need to talk with them.”
Thor smiled back. “They are in the office. I'm sure it’s nothing important. Do you want me to entertain my favorite nephew of mine?”
“That would be great.” Jessie let go of Ben’s hand and let him run towards Thor. Thor scooped Ben up and placed him on his shoulders. As soon as they walked into the garage all the guys were cheering for Ben and greeting him. Jessie shook her head as she headed up to the office. When she got to the top of the stairs the door was wide open and Bucky was calling her in.
“Sorry to interrupt the both of you but I wanted to share something.” Steve and Bucky stared at her for a moment.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” Steve asked.
Jessie took a deep breath and proceeded to tell them what happened at the diner. Both men were listening intently and were not happy about this development. She explained her concerns about the situation as this didn’t feel right to her.
Steve looked over to Bucky. “This isn’t the first time Jack crossed over to our town. I saw him when Jessie and I were out on my bike. Plus he was looking for me just a while ago. What do you think he wants?”
Bucky’s eyes narrowed. “No telling. But whatever it is, it's not good. We are going to continue having Clint follow you in the mornings and afternoons. This way if something bad is coming you and Ben are protected.”
“Thank you so much. I’m more concerned about Ben than anything else.” Jessie would kill anyone that brought harm to her son. She would have no regrets doing what a mama bear should protect her young.
Steve walked over to Jessie and lightly grabbed her hands. “Nothing will happen to you or Ben. I will make sure of it. I will protect you with my life.”
“Me too sis. Don’t worry too much about Jack. We will handle him.” Bucky reassured her. “Now since it’s closing time why don’t you both head home? I can close up the shop tonight.”
Steve nodded his head as he took her by the hand and led her out of the office. When they came downstairs they saw their friends gathered around Ben as Tony was explaining to him how to change a tire. Ben knelt next to his uncle and listened closely to what he said. Steve and Jessie stopped to watch as Tony had Ben help him to tighten the bolts.
“There ya go sport. Use your muscles to tighten them.” Tony proudly said.
“If I keep doing this will I have muscles like my daddy?” Ben innocently asked.
“Of course, you will. Just like we all have muscles from working on cars and bikes all day long.” Clint added.
Tony and Ben tightened the last bolt and finished. Ben cheered that he did it. When he looked up he spotted his parents.”Did you see me? I fixed the tire all by myself. I can be like Daddy now and fix stuff.” Ben ran over to them and Steve scooped him up in his arms.
“You want to be like me?” Steve asked.
Ben shook his head like crazy. “Yup, just like you.”
“Awww buddy that means a lot to me. You will make a fine mechanic one day. Now thank Uncle Tony for teaching you.”
Ben looked back at Tony. “Thank you!”
“You’re welcome sport.” Tony and the other men waved goodbye to them as they made their way to her truck and his bike.
Steve put Ben in the backseat of her truck and seatbelted him in. Once he closed the door he kissed Jessie on the lips. “See you at home sweetheart.”
“See you in a few Daddy.” She seductively said.
Steve gave her a grin. “Now don’t start something you can’t finish.”
“Oh, we will finish this later.” As she went to hop up into the truck Steve quickly swatted her butt. Jessie gave him a knowing smile and closed her door. As she pulled away Steve jumped on his bike and followed them home.
***
Frank sat behind his desk in his office going over files that he received from the local FBI office. The files contained information about the Hydra club and a mysterious man named Jigsaw. He read how Jigsaw ran this area with an iron fist with Hydra working under him. The man was feared among the locals as he collected debts that families owed Pierce. If you didn’t pay he would burn your house down. This was the man that Frank was looking for. The man who murdered his family in a house fire while he was working one night. Once he lost everything Frank decided to get into law enforcement so he could catch this guy. Whoever this Jigsaw was he was going to pay with his life.
First things first, try to catch Hydra and bring them to justice. Second, kill Jigsaw. All he needed was information from John Walker. He heard rumors that John worked with Jigsaw. This was the lead he was going to work on. With John already tried in court for lying under oath in the Barnes and Rogers murder case all Frank had to do was contact the federal government to see where they shipped him off to. With John filled with information, they were afraid Jigsaw would order a hit on him that way no one could figure out the identity of Jigsaw. Looks like Frank is going to take a few days off to get the information he needs.
***
Billy was pacing his office after he got word that Steve and Jessie were back together again. Didn’t Steve know that Jessie belonged to him and him alone? He was going to have to get Hydra to handle the biker who follows Jessie around town every day. That way he could get close to her and beg her to come back to him. He missed Jessie and Ben. For a moment they were a family and he had everything he wanted in life. How he longed for her. The taste of her, the smell of her, the way she felt under him. All of it was a drug to him and he wanted to get high on her.
If begging her doesn’t work then he would go with his backup plan. He grinned to himself, sometimes you have to play the bad guy to get what you want and he could play the role perfectly. If Steve tried to get in his way again he would take care of him as he did Brock. Picking up the phone he dialed Jack. On the second ring, he picked up.
“Hey, I need you to do something for me. I need you to take Jessie's little escort to and from her home out. I believe his name is Clint. Run the guy off the road but no shooting him. The last thing we need is a war between clubs right now.”
“Yes, boss. We will take care of this problem for you.”
“Good.” Billy hung up the phone and started thinking about what he would do with his short time with Jessie. Would she want to hear him out or would she be stubborn and brush him off? He wanted to see where she was emotionally and physically with Steve. God that man was a thorn in his side. For now, he will look to tomorrow afternoon.
***
The next day went by as usual. Steve took Ben to school and Jessie went about her normal routine before heading into work. Yet again she was met by the biker who sat in her section. Not thinking too much about him she grabbed his coffee for him and went about waiting on other customers. By the time she knew it, the man left and the rest of her shift flew by. Waving goodbye to her friends she headed to her truck and was met by Clint as usual.
“How are you doing today,” she called out to him.
“Doing well. The shop was busy as usual. Steve is closing tonight so Bucky and Nat can meet with a photographer and baker for the wedding. Do you want me to stay until he gets home?”
Jessie shook her head. “No, I think we will be just fine.”
Clint nodded his head as he started his bike. The first stop was to pick up Ben. When they arrived Jessie got out of the Truck and waited for Ben by the front of the school. As the kids made their way out Ben came running up to his mom and showed her a painting he did of her, Steve, and him.
“Wow look what my talented boy painted for the house. This is going on the refrigerator when we get home so Daddy can see.”
Ben was so excited. “Do you think he will like it?”
“I’m sure he will. Now let us get you home so you can have a snack.” Ben grabbed his mom’s hand and they walked back to the truck. Jessie got him inside and seatbelted as she placed his things on the back seat. Nodding to Clint who was parked behind her she got back in her truck and they headed home. The drive through town was nice as a soft breeze blew through her window. She got to a stop sign and made her turn. Continuing down the road a ways she looked in her rearview window and noticed he wasn’t behind her. This was odd as he always followed her. Maybe he got held up at the stop sign or got a call. She was going to see if he showed up at the house before she turned around. Driving a little bit further she finally pulled into her driveway. Before she could decide to turn around a sheriff's car pulled behind her blocking her in. Looking in her rearview mirror she saw Billy get out. Great, just what she needed.
“Ben, I need you to stay here for a minute for me, okay?”
“Yes, Mommy.”
Jessie opened her door and walked to the back of the truck meeting Billy face to face. “Is there something I can help you with, Sheriff?”
“My you look lovely Jessie. It’s been a while since we last saw each other. How are things with you and Ben?”
“Things are fine with us. If you remember I asked you not to come around us anymore. It confuses Ben. Plus I’m with Steve now so this is not appropriate.”
Billy’s eyes narrowed at her. “You’re with Steve? That was fast. In one bed and into another. That’s definitely not the woman I expected you to be.”
Jessie didn’t like where this was going. “Look what I do with my life and whose bed I’m in is no longer a concern to you. Remember I broke up with you cause you laid a hand on me. I could have gotten you in trouble with your job but I took the high road and left. Now if there is nothing official with your visit I would like you to leave.”
“Can’t you see I miss you? What happened that night was a mistake. I never meant to hurt you. I’ve been with you for five years and you just threw it away like it was nothing. I want you back Jessie. You belong to me. Just give me another chance.”
“First of all, I belong to no one. I choose who I’m with and that person isn’t you. It never will be ever again. What happened that night wasn’t the first time you laid a hand on me but I made a promise to myself it would be the last. Ben doesn’t deserve to be raised in that atmosphere. He deserves a family unit and that is what Steve gives us. So again I’m asking you to leave my property or I plan to file a complaint against you for harassment.”
Billy was fuming now, his fists clenched at his side. What he would give to make her his submissive again. He would fuck the attitude out of her. She seems to now have a backbone since being with Steve. No matter if she wanted to do things the hard way then that’s what was going to happen.
“Fine, make me your villain. I have to say it’s not good having the sheriff as an enemy. You never know who could get hurt. Speaking of where is your dear friend Clint?” Billy grinned at her as he got back into his vehicle and slowly pulled away. “Let’s get one thing clear here: I own this town. Best you remember that before you threaten me.”
Her breathing was fast from how angry he made her but she also felt scared. What did he mean when he said he owns the town? He was just a sheriff and could still get in trouble, right? Then her mind cut to Clint. She headed back to the driver’s side door ready to look for him when she heard the familiar rumble of an engine. She looked over her shoulder and saw Clint. Jessie got Ben out of the truck and grabbed his things before heading to the house. She placed his stuff on the counter and told Ben to grab a snack while she talked to Clint.
Heading back outside she took in his appearance and noticed he looked sore. Clint got off his bike and limped toward her to sit on the stairs.
“What happened?” she asked.
“I was following you until we got to the stop sign. As soon as I went to go some idiot clipped me and I crashed. Thankfully no major injuries and the bike is fine. Was going to hash out insurance information but the person left the scene of the accident. What about you are you okay? I saw a sheriff’s vehicle pull away from the house.”
Jessie sighed in defeat. “It was the ex.”
“What did that clown want?”
Jessie explained the conversation she had with Billy. “I just wish he would leave me alone. Clearly, I’ve moved on now.”
“I hope you will tell Steve about this. He needs to know.”
“I will. I'm gonna go inside to check up on Ben. If you want to hang out I believe cartoons and goldfish crackers are going on inside the living room.”
“As tempting as that is, I'm going to head back to the shop. Just be careful and stay inside.”
“Will do.” Jessie waved goodbye to her friend and went inside to rest until Steve got home.
***
Later that evening when Steve came home he knew something was off with Jessie. She was avoiding conversation about her day until Ben went to bed. Nothing good was going to come from this conversation but he understood she needed to talk later. Dinner came and went, Jessie had Steve bathe Ben for her and get him settled for the night. By the time he came downstairs, she was in the living room with just the lights on.
“Hey sweetheart, what happened today?”
Jessie sighed. “Billy stopped by. Lord knows he tries my patience.” Jessie explained in detail their conversation and how she is scared he will try something. “I just feel like he isn’t going to let this go. What happens when we decide to get married? Is he going to interrupt that too?”
Steve moved closer to her and held her close. “That bastard won’t ruin anything with us. I will make sure of it. When we decide to get married we can keep it simple and under the radar of him. Course need to get engaged first.”
Jessie smiled at him. “About that I was thinking maybe, if you wanted to, we could be engaged again. I mean only if you want to…”
“Why Jessie are you proposing?” Steve gave her a big grin as he pulled her into his lap.
“Maybe I am. What do you say?”
“I say let’s take this upstairs and I will show you what my answer is.” Steve picks Jessie up and carries her up the stairs. When they close the door they are on each other. Clothes are flying everywhere and once they are naked they fall into bed together. Steve moves down her body and licks a stripe up her slit causing her to moan. His tongue moves through her lips over and over again. Her breathy moans keep climbing the more his mouth works her over. His lips then move to her clit as he pushes two fingers into her. Slowly he works her body over and gets her just on the edge of cumming when he suddenly stops.
“Only way you’re cumming tonight is on my cock. He turns her over to her stomach and pulls her hips up to meet his. Slowly he rubs his cock through her wet lips before pushing inside her. His pace is slow but firm as he takes her from behind. Little mewls exit her mouth with every push and pull motion. “Say you want to marry me.”
“I-I want to marry you. I want to be your wife.” Jessie whines at him as his pace starts to pick up.
“God do I love the sound of that. My wife. It’s long overdue.” Steve grunts as he starts thrusting harder into her. The sound of skin slapping against fills the room as they try to keep their moaning down. He keeps plowing into her until Jessie finally tenses from her orgasm and moans Steve’s name. As her walls contract around him Steve cums deep inside her. He works them both through their orgasm before he pulls out of her.
He lays on his back as she crawls to her nightstand. Pulling out a small jewelry box she reaches in and grabs the engagement ring Steve gave her years ago. Placing it on her finger she crawls back to Steve to show him.
“You never got rid of it? After all these years?” He asks.
“After all these years I guess I just knew we were meant to be deep down inside. I want to be your wife Steve. I want to have future babies with you. We deserve to be happy and have that future we always wanted.”
Steve kissed her passionately as he held her close. Tongues softly caressed the other as they sigh in contentment.
“I say whenever you are ready and wanting, let's do this.” She says.
“What if I said one week?” He mischievously smiled.
“Then I would say we have a lot of planning to do.”

"Blackbird to Robin, do you copy?" Masterlist
Billy Russo x original female character [ongoing]
[The Punisher AU]
Tumblr media
Plot overview: When Billy Russo, CEO of private military firm Anvil, was tasked with the security and protection of New York's most feared mafia leader and his family over an unknown yet dangerous threat, he didn't know he not only would risk his safety over the job, but his heart too.
Series warnings: female!reader, slight age gap (reader is of age), no specific physical descriptions mentioned. This fic contains canon-typical violence, mentions of death, injuries, grief, loss, anxiety, depression, college burnout, financial instability, mentions of misogyny and other unacceptable behaviors, very foul language. Reader has a first name (Dana).
A/N: so, i kinda changed this universe a little bit, where billy is the CEO of anvil and frank works there as his top agent. I'm picturing a mafia leader to be a very conservative and traditional man who pretty much doesn't think women should be in power, but i can assure that it does reflect in no way my own beliefs —this is just for the sake of the plot. Any triggering content will be specified in every chapter, but if I missed any, let me know :)

Sneak peak: End of the Line
Tumblr media
Billy Russo x ofc
Part of my A year of whump w/ comfort and fluff
Summary: after being left for dead, and with no where else to go, an injured and desperate Billy seeks refuge from someone be wronged in his past.
Tumblr media
Kaya’s eyes moved over his face as her brows wrinkled. She could barely recognize him with all the bandages.
“I had nowhere else to go.” Billy confessed weakly, desperation in his dark eyes.
Kaya took a deep breath and dragged her eyes back to his. There’s no emotion in them, no sympathy, and the initial shock has melted away. A chill runs down his spine as they stare at eachother in silence.
Billy grabbed his side. His wound is throbbing, traveling all this way may have torn his stitches, he’s not sure, but it feels like hell.
The blank emotionless look on her face morphs to something else, to a quiet simmering rage behind her eyes.
If she took a step back and slammed the door in his face, he’d understand that; hell, he deserved it.
Billy used the one favor he had left to drag himself to an underground clinic and get patched up, but they kicked him out after and left him to fend for himself.
With no friends left, no connections, and no one to intimidate into helping him, this is the only place he thought to go. Even if she said no, it was worth a try. But from the way her eyes are shooting daggers into him, he’s sure this is going to end with a door slamming in his face.
“You think you can just show up on my doorstep, after what you did?” She seethed.
Kaya heard he was dead. But here he is, broken, beaten, and bangaged, silently pleading for help with his eyes.
Billy pushed against the wall to stand up straight. He groans and uses his bandaged hands to slip the hoodie back over his head, it instantly casts a shadow over his face.
Kaya steps out of the doorframe and pushed a finger into his chest,
“You’re lucky I don’t kill you where you stand!”
Another tense moment passed, and Billy decided rather than face her justifiable wrath, he’ll drag himself out of here and figure something out.
Billy turned with some effort, and started to walk away. He took two steps, her eyes burning into him like lasers. With a labored breath, he takes another before his knees give out beneath him. He’s still recovering from the blood loss and getting here is the longest he’s traveled, or walked in a while.
As he started falling to the ground, Kaya sighed and rushed over to him. She roughly grabbed his arm, pulled him up, and led the way to her open door.
“Just - come inside.” She guided him to the doorway and led them both inside.“Can you walk now?”
Chapter 1 coming late summer , on A03. It's planned to be a mini fic, 1-3 chapters, 4 max. I'm Artemiseamoon on a03 as well.

Pairing:Billy Russo x Ignis Redwood (OFC)
"Just for clarity, you want me to break into his mind, on my own to put this in his head. I am sorry but that is suicide. Even if he isn't trained I would have to put him three layers under to even buy myself enough time to get what you want from him."
"He trusts you."
"Not to that extent."
"Then work on that. We don't pay you just to fuck him."

Hypothetically Real Future (Billy Russo x fem!Reader)
Author’s Note: Hey everyone! I was supposed to post this a few days ago, but after being over-productive at work to account for taking few days off, I was too exhausted to edit and post. But here it is! The whole idea was inspired by listen to the Jackie and Ryan soundtrack and hearing Ben Barnes sing. Enjoy! :)
Summary: Billy comes to surprise you on a Friday afternoon, but when he has plans to whisk you away for the weekend, you let him in on your babysitting plans for a friend.
Warnings: Fluff (established relationship, Billy being very sweet and the secret softie he is, Billy having pet names for reader), angst (reader and Billy want some different things, but they haven't talked about it, talk about family/Billy's past)
Other Characters: OFC
Word Count: 2,908
Tumblr media
“Hey, doll face,” Billy smiles as he leans against the doorframe to your office.
“Billy,” you smile as you swivel toward him. Getting up, you maneuver around your desk and move to hug him. Before you can wrap him in a tight embrace, he whips out a bouquet in the space between the two of you. You giggle as the petals of the flowers tickle your nose and hide the lower half of his face, prompting Billy to playfully wiggle his eyebrows. You happily take the bouquet from his hands before leaning in for a sweet kiss. “What brings you to my neck of the woods?”
“Figured I could spring you a bit early from his place,” he hums as he rests a hand on your waist and kisses your neck. “It’s a Friday afternoon in the middle of the summer. Nothing important is getting done, and you know it.”
“You have a fair point.”
“Then let’s get going, sweetheart. I can call in a favor, and we can have a very nice, very sexy weekend in the Hamptons.”
You let out a sigh, resting your forehead on his shoulder. “I'd love that, but I can’t, though.”
“But you just said nothing was going on. Perfect excuse to leave early.”
“I’m watching my friend’s baby this weekend. Her and her husband have to go to his grandma’s funeral in Washington state, and she doesn’t feel comfortable bringing Colin on a plane. I need to grab my weekend bag before I go over to their place. Sorry it puts a wrench in your very sexy Hamptons plans.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s great that you’re doing that for them. I know if I had a baby, I wouldn’t trust them with anyone else but you.”
“Thanks,” you smile.
“Maybe I could swing over with dinner one night. Keep you company.”
“If you keep doing things like that, Frank will tease you about going soft.”
“Yeah, that punk started to do that when we started to date.”
“Well, in that case, no need to prove him right. You’d never hear the end of it.”
“Yeah, you’ve got a point,” he chuckles. “How about this: I bring you to your place, help you grab your things, kiss a bit, and I drop you off at their place. At least we can spend some more time together.”
You chuckle and lean in for another kiss, his hand firmly on the small of your back to hold you in the embrace. “Sounds nice, Russo.”
Tumblr media
“Thanks, baby,” you smile as Billy pulls over in front of their house.
“Any time, sweetheart,” he hums, kissing your cheek. “I’ll wait until you make it in.”
As you grab your things, you give Billy one more kiss and get out of the car, moving up the steps and knocking at the door.
“(Y/N)!” your friend Anna says with a hug. “I can’t thank you enough for watching Colin this weekend.”
“Don’t even worry about it. I know how close Ronnie and his Nonna were. It’s the least I can do.”
“Is that Billy?” she asks, leaning to the side and waving to the car.
“Yeah, he picked me up from work.”
“You know, he can stay the whole weekend. It’s not like you’re randy teenagers that are gonna have sex everywhere. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a two person team to deal with a two month old.”
“If you and Ronnie are sure—.”
“Of course! Just have him drive around the block, and he can take the spot we’re parked in once we leave.”
With another hug, you scurry down to the car.
“You okay, baby?” Billy asks.
“Wanna help babysit this weekend? I’ve been given the thumbs up,” you smirk.
“Oh, I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“Please? It’d be easier to watch Colin with another person there. Besides, two month olds aren’t the best conversationalists.”
Billy sighs. “I’m sorry sweetheart, but . . . I’m just not good with babies.”
Your heart sinks because you know he’s lying right to your face— you’ve heard the stories of how good he was when Lisa and Frank Jr. when they were babies. You’ve seen the pictures and how he seems so comfortable, so natural with them, so happy with them, but you don’t push it.
“Okay,” you tell him. “I’ll text you.”
“Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
Moving back to the front door of your friend’s house you turn back and give Billy a wave goodbye.
Tumblr media
“How about we find something to watch while the bottle warms, hm?” you say to Colin as he remains nice and snuggled in the wrap. “What are you in the mood for? Comedy? Period drama? Procedural? Reruns from the 70s and 80s? Channel surfing until we find something we like?” A little grunt that falls from his mouth. “Yeah, channel surfing is good. Sometimes you don’t know what hits the spot until you find it. Wise beyond your two months, my guy.”
When you hear the doorbell ring, your brows immediately scrunch in confusion. Moving over to the bay window, you carefully peer out from behind the curtains, smiling brightly when you see Billy’s lovely profile standing patiently on the stoop.
“We’ve got a visitor, Col,” you coo, walking over to the door to open it. “Hey, Russo.”
“It’s good practice to ask ‘Who is it?’ before opening the door,” he grins.
“My apologies," you chuckle. "What exactly brings you here?”
“I saw the way your face fell when you said I wouldn’t stay,” he says quietly. “I’m sorry.”
“Bill, listen—.”
“You really do have a terrible poker face, sweetheart.”
“If you don’t want to be here, I’m not gonna force you.”
“I really do wanna be here, baby. I wanna be here with you. Trust me. I also brought some late night snacks.” With a lopsided smirk, he lifts up a brown paper bag. “Crab rangoons, potstickers, General Tao’s chicken, lo mien—.”
“Snacks? That’s dinner—second dinner!” you giggle, stepping to the side and ushering him in with a jerk of your head.
“Snacks, dinner, whatever,” he smirks. “Figured you’d need to keep your energy up. Sit down, get this little guy fed, and I’ll be right there.”
With a little smile, you move to the living room and adjust, tilting Colin just right to make feeding easiest for him. As he takes the nipple into his mouth, Billy sits down next to you with two plates that have a little bit of everything in it.
“Open, sweetheart,” he hums gently, taking a bite of his egg roll before bringing yours to your lips. You smile before you bite down, humming in delight.
“Thank you,” you chew as you finagle the remote in your free hand and flip through the channels. “As my knight in MSG armor, you get the honor of choosing what we watch.”
“Aw, you’re too kind, princess.”
Settling on reruns of Bob’s Burgers, Billy continues to feed you while Colin finishes his bottle and you burp him. The entire thing feels incredibly domestic, and you can’t help but imagine what it would be like in your shared house, taking care of a baby that’s half you and half Billy. But then you remember how Billy acted when you brought up him babysitting with you. If he had meant what he said, though, then why would he come back with food?
“You alright, babygirl?” Billy asks softly.
“Hm? Yeah,” you nod. “I’m gonna go and give Colin a bath before I put him down. Would you mind terribly cleaning up?”
“You got it, sweetheart.”
Getting up, you hold Colin close as you ascend the staircase and gather everything he needs. You try to prolong the bath as much as you can, your mind racing as you try to analyze Billy’s behavior. Did he feel guilty? Is he trying to save face? Billy is hard to read normally, but this is a whole new branch of difficult you didn’t know was possible. What if it’s something to do with you? Are you the reason he’s acting weird?
Your spiral is cut short when you hear the hardwood of the townhouse shift under his weight.
“Don’t you think he has enough lotion on him?” Billy teases softly as he rests against the door frame. “Any more, he’ll slip right out of your arms.”
“That’s a worry that never crossed my mind before now,” you sigh, looking down at how Colin smiles at you. You listen to Billy walk over, pressing a kiss to your neck as a hand rests on your waist.
“I’ll be your back up guard. He won’t stand a chance if he tries to wriggle away.”
You let out a hum of a laugh as you wipe your hands clean before you move to put a onesie on him, carefully zipping it up before Billy follows you to Colin’s nursery.
“Can you grab me one of the books?” you ask.
“Any one in particular?”
“I know they have Madeline—I’m the one that gave it to them.”
“Isn’t that more of—?”
“More of a what, Russo?” you challenge softly with a raised eyebrow as you sit in the rocking chair.
“Nothing,” he says with a shake of his head.
“That’s what I thought,” you smirk.
Taking the book from his hand, you open the book and start to read, gently rocking back and forth in the chair. Colin is quick to fall asleep, likely due to the bath, and Billy takes the book from your fingers carefully as you continue to rock him to make sure he’s out. You gingerly stand up and place him in his crib, tip-toeing out of the room with Billy.
“How about you try to get some rest?” Billy whispers, kissing your cheek. “I’ll stay up a bit longer, keep an ear out for him.”
“Bill, I—.”
“Isn’t there a saying about sleeping when the baby sleeps? At least one of us should heed the advice.”
You stop in the hallway and turn around, cradling his face in your hands, pressing a soft, sweet kiss to his lips.
“I love you, Billy,” you whisper. “Thank you.”
Billy gives you one more kiss before gently rubbing your arms, up and down. “Sleep well, princess.”
Just as quickly as you settle in and fall asleep, you get stirred awake when you her tiny little cries make their way over the baby monitor. Sitting up in bed, you rub the sleep out of your eyes and turn your attention to he nightstand where the device rests.
“Hey, buddy,” you hear Billy say over the monitor. “Shh, it’s okay. It’s okay, bud, you’re safe. I’m here for you.” You listen to him let out a soft sigh as he bends over to pick Colin up, undoubtedly trying to rock him back to sleep. “No need to cry,” he hushes. After a few moments, you listen to him start singing, his voice soft, calming, and down right beautiful. It’s so unexpected, you sit in the bed, frozen in surprise as you listen. Slowly, Colin starts to calm down as Billy keeps on singing. You can’t help but smile, and you slip out of the covers and quietly pad over to the nursery, resting against the doorframe as you listen to Billy finish the song, carefully putting a sleeping Colin back down in his crib.
“I hoped that you wouldn’t get woken up,” he says gently as he turns around and approaches you. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize,” you say with a soft smile. “I heard it over the monitor.”
“Oh,” he says as his cheeks flush pink.
“Don’t be embarrassed. It’s cute.”
He shuffles over to where you stand, wrapping an arm around you, pressing a lingering kiss on the crown of your head.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?” he murmurs as you move to the living room. “You’ve been a bit off all night.”
“It’s nothing, Bill, I promise.”
He kisses your forehead, tucking wisps of hair behind your ear. “You know you can tell me anything. What’s going on?”
His voice is so gentle and his chocolate eyes stare at you like a needy puppy.
“You’re so good with him,” you tell him. “I’ve heard the stories from Frank—I’ve seen the pictures . . . I don’t know. I’m just overthinking it Billy, really, I—.”
“No, no, c’mon. Keep talking to me. What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”
You let out a breath as you sit on the sofa and pick up one of Colin’s stuffies. “Is it because Anna and Ronnie are my friends and not yours? I know you’re not as close with them as you are with Frank, but I didn’t think that’s be a deterrent for babysitting. I mean, it should be easier to—.”
“Is that what you think this is about?”
Your heart jumps in your throat before rocketing to the bottom of your stomach. “I told you I was overthinking, and I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—.”
“Can I be honest with you, sweetheart?”
You nod, and Billy adjusts before he leans forward to gently take your hands in his. “I didn’t want to come because I didn’t want to see you with a baby.”
Your eyebrows pull together as a small frown pulls on your lips. “I . . . I’m not following.”
He sighs and sits down carefully on the ottoman. “I knew that if I saw you with Colin all weekend, I’d want to have a baby with you.”
You look at him, desperately trying to read all the emotions on his face. “Is . . . Would that be the worst thing?”
He lets out a breath as he looks down at the floor, almost like he’s ashamed to look at you. “I never knew my dad. I don’t have a relationship with my mom. I’m screwed up enough. I don’t want to screw up another human being.”
“I guess we never really talked about anything that far ahead.”
“No,” he says quietly. “We haven’t.”
Leaning forward, you kiss his forehead, running your fingers through his hair and cradling his face.
“When my brother found out he was gonna be a dad, he was worried about a million things—how he was gonna screw up, if his kids were gonna be assholes, if he would be enough. And my dad told him that because he was worrying about all these things when he didn’t even know the sex of the baby, he was gonna be just fine. All those things showed how much he cared.” From down the hall, you can hear how Colin starts to fuss, and you lean back from his touch, pulling your hands from his as you throw your hair into a pony tail, but not before you lean forward to kiss his temple, running your fingers through his hair. “For what it’s worth,” you say softly, “I think you’d be a great father, Billy.”
“Sweetheart—.”
“Get some rest, Billy. You’ve been up since four this morning and you watched Colin while I slept.”
Moving from him before he can protest more, you go to Colin’s nursery as you hold him, letting a tear roll down your cheek while you console him. It’s not long until he calms down, his tiny fingers curling into your shirt to hold onto you tight. You have to carefully pry his little fingers open so you can put him down, slowly as to not wake him back up.
“He all good now?” Billy asks as you slide back under the blankets.
“Out like a light,” you tell him, pecking a kiss to his lips. “Just needed a new diaper and some cuddles.”
Turning on the mattress, Billy wraps his arms around you and nuzzles his face in the crook of your neck.
“You’re the only person that I’d want to have a baby with,” he whispers. “I’m not ready, but . . . I hope you’d still want to have a baby with me. Some day.”
His words hit you in a spot you didn’t know about, and you just snuggle down onto him. “I do,” you whisper. “I just . . . We have some things to talk about.”
There’s a thick silence in the bedroom, but the way that Billy rolls you over and presses a pillow-soft kiss to your lips, tucking your head under his chin and wrapping you secure in his arms, it tells you that he’s open to a future he never truly thought of—not in a way that mattered to him before.
“So . . .” you start softly. “Hypothetically . . . Potentially, would this ‘someday baby’ . . . Would it be after a hypothetical wedding? If that’s something you’d be interested in. Hypothetically.”
His silence, even though it is only a few seconds, it feels like forever, and it feels like you might have just ended your relationship while cuddled in his arms.
“Hypothetically?” he murmurs. “No.”
Your heart absolutely drops, and you can feel the tears well immediately.
“Realistically?” Billy continues. “Absolutely.”
Sitting up in bed and pulling out of his arms, you turn to face him and smack him. “Russo, you can’t do that!”
“Ow!” he says, rubbing the spot where you smacked him. “You’ll wake Colin!”
“I don’t care!”
“Okay, I realize that wasn’t the smartest way to say things, but . . . I love you, sweetheart, I do. And after we talk things over, like really talk them over, make some pictures clearer . . . Yeah, it’s in our future. Our real future.”

Untouchable (Billy Russo)
A/N: My first attempt at a soft angsty Billy Russo fic. Plus I'm a sucker for angst and unrequited love.... so I just couldn't help myself with this. Hope you enjoy lovelies.
I also have enough already written for a part 2 if anyone is interested!
Words: Far too many.... I'm far to wordy for my own good.
Pairing: Billy Russo X OFC
Warning: Angsty feelings, Billy being soft and adorable when he isn't being obtuse
Tumblr media
She wasn't sure when her feelings had slowly turned from platonic friendship to harboring feelings towards one of her best friends. There was a part of her that wished she remembered exactly when the change happened, when the shift in her mindset had taken hold of her conscious thoughts. Maybe then she could figure out what Billy had done the day that sealed her fate.
Was it that time in sixth grade when she had tripped down the stairs at school and he had been the only one to stop and make sure she was ok. Helping her collect the binders and papers that flew everywhere in the chaos. Or had it been when he started leaving gentle touches on her skin in passing. A brush of his hand against her wrist, his fingers pushing her hair away from her face when they lounged on the couch together when he returned home on leave. Perhaps she had been fooling herself this whole time and Billy always held her heart in his hand in some sort of way.
Billy Russo was quite the character, much different then he was as an awkward teenager when the two of them first met. Now he was the charming, painfully attractive, CEO of Anvil and had just that air of danger surrounding him that had women flocking to his side in droves. He could have any woman he wanted, and he did on many occasions. All he had to do was flash that devilishly handsome smile and they were all like putty in his hands.
Which is what he was currently doing now, flashing that brilliant smile of his as he wandered around the party. A gaggle of women trailing behind him, hanging on every last word that came out of his damn mouth. She would never be on par with any of those girls, and she definitely wasn't about to try either. Mattie knew her place in the hierarchy of attractiveness, and it was somewhere teetering on the verge of plain Jane and homely. Depending on the day and the lightning she swayed in one direction or the other.
"You're doing that thing again." A voice from beside her broke her free from the self deprecating thoughts she found herself drowned in. Tilting her head she noticed Curtis sitting beside her, a knowing smirk playing at his lips.
"What thing?" She asked before grabbing her glass of champagne and downing what little was left. It was terrible, certainly not the high priced liquor the people attending this type of event expected. But Mattie never turned down free booze.
"Torturing yourself." He reached out and took the glass from her and set it down next to himself. Fingers drumming at the base of the intricately blown champagne flute. "You could, I don't know, tell him how you feel?"
Curtis was good, too good at reading people. His years as a counselor made it incredibly hard to get anything by him. His eyes were always watching, taking in people's moods and body language. It was quite the party trick if it wasn't pointed directly at yourself.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Curtis." Mattie smirked, playing stupid with his pointed accusation. Much like she always did when he brought the topic up.
Quirking a brow up in utter disbelief, Curtis tilted his head in the direction he had watched Billy wander off too. A herd of money hungry women were more than likely following closely behind the exceptionally dressed man. Afterall the news headlines before this event were wild with the notion Billy was the most eligible bachelor in the city now.
"Look Ms Masochist, I was just stating an obvious end to,” leaning over towards her, Curtis used his knuckles to rap on her thick skull gently, "whatever you have going on in that head of yours."
"You mean daydreaming?" She huffed dramatically, as she pulled his hand away from her head and placed it down on top of the table. Her fingers squeezing his hand reassuringly before letting go. "I appreciate the concern Curtis, I really do, bu-"
"But?" He added in before she could finish her sentence. His eyes panning her face with a quizzical gaze, taking in the subtle shift of her lips and the quiet sadness radiating from behind her own eyes. "Billy really cares about you, Mattie. Kid will not shut up about what you two get up to when he stops by the meetings. Even got some of the other guys invested in your little adventures. You really think he'd not give you a chance?"
"Give who a chance?"
Mattie internally cringed when she heard Billy's all too familiar voice, her eyes only drifting in the direction after a few moments of staring Curtis down. A silent threat looming behind her eyes that told him if he opened his big mouth she was about to be charged with murder and she didn't particularly care.
"The weird champagne." Mattie attempted to recover, picking up the bottle the cocktail waitress had left behind earlier. "Curtis says it tastes like static." Holding it out to him, she gave the bottle a jiggle hoping he'd take it from her. "Didn't you, Curtis?" Using her leg that was hidden under the table she kicked his foot, trying to get him to play along.
"Yep, static." He agreed, noting it was easier to play along then have Mattie angry with him. The girl could hold a grudge worse than Frank, so that was saying something.
Mattie watched as Billy furrowed his brows in confusion, taking the bottle apprehensively from her grasp, clearly not expecting the conversation she had just forced with Curtis. But she decided not to push her luck and quickly rose from the table. "Now that you're here, and not being hunted for sport by those women, I just want to say congrats on the award." Grabbing her small canvas bag from the edge of the chair, before pushing her seat back underneath the table.
"It's truly amazing they even let you over here, Russo." Curtis stated from behind her.
Mattie sighed softly, knowing exactly what Curtis was referring to. Whether it was a party or all of them casually at the bar, they were always on some form of borrowed time. Before some skinny little number came walking up in her barely there outfit, inserting herself in whatever conversation that was going on to get Billy's undivided attention. It got so bad, Frank started ignoring anyone who walked up to the table, including the waitresses. He put all his drink orders through Karen, the saint of a woman she is.
"I told them I'd be back." Billy shrugged nonchalantly, looking over his shoulder with a smug grin tugging at his lips. Mattie followed his line of sight, seeing the trove of women clustered together, waiting on bated breath for him to make his way back towards them.
"Well I'm headed out then." Mattie took this opportunity to reach up and hug Billy goodbye. It must have caught him slightly off guard because his hand instinctively wrapped around her waist, keeping her securely in place. "I have work tomorrow, and I really need to get out of this get up. Its fucking uncomfortable." She gestured to the too tight black dress she had underneath one of her studded leather jackets. She had tried to leave the house in her usual jeans and sweatshirt, but Karen had stopped her dead in her tracks. Showing up at her door unannounced, knowing Mattie would try to get away with the bare minimum for this event.
Before Mattie even opened the door Karen barged in, turned her right back around and forced her into an outfit Mattie detested for the most part. Even the shoes, a pair of black leather booties she had bought years ago and never wore, were cutting off the circulation to her feet.
"Didn't you just get here?" He drew his attention back to Mattie, arm still wrapped around her waist almost possessively. Billy's obsidian eyes locking with her own, the blackness of them always drawing her in like a moth to a flame.
"Yes she did, our anti-socialite here is trying to get out before all those boring acceptance speeches." Cutis' voice pulled Mattie out of her slight daze. Allowing her to slip from Billy's grip and take a few steps back.
"I don't belong here, you know that. Billy asked if I'd come and I did, my end of the bargain was held up." Mattie chuckled softly, remembering those few weeks back when Billy practically begged her to attend the party for a bit. She agreed only if she was allowed to sneak out when things got too much for her to handle. Crowds were never really her thing, especially crowds of people who she didn't know.
"I'll walk you to your car then." Billy shoved his hands in the pockets of his perfectly tailored slacks, shuffling his Louis Vuitton shoe against the marble floor.
Raising her brow in question, Mattie looked at Billy like he had grown three heads. She searched his face for a moment, trying her best to read his dark eyes, wondering what had gotten into him tonight suddenly. He never willingly walked away from his strategic game of cat and mouse he played when he was in the mood for some pussy. Perhaps he had already secured his evening's closing act, and didn't feel the need to prowl like a hungry cat anymore.
"If you insist." She shrugged her shoulders, before looking over and waving her goodbye to Curtis. She would have to ask him at the next meeting how the rest of the party went. Get all the juicy gossip about which guest got the drunkest and made an absolute fool of themselves.
The two of them secretly already took bets on the woman with the cherry red lipstick and dressed in the all white evening gown. She had been stumbling around, laughing at her own reflection in several of the mirrors the venue had when Curtis and her had rode up in the elevator before this shindig even started. The look the two of them gave one another was of shared amusement and Mattie knew Curtis would keep a tab on the alabaster woman.
"So what were you and Curtis really talking about?" Billy casually asked, pulling Mattie from her thoughts.
"Champagne." She didn't miss a beat, knowing he was prying for the truth. Billy was too smart for his own good, but Mattie knew when he was fishing for answers. One of the perks of being friends for so long, his tells were more obvious to her.
"You and I both know that isn't true. So would you like to try that again?" Just as easily as she read him, Billy could read her. Picking up on the small tells she gave off when she lied.
Huffing an amused laugh, Mattie thought about how she'd rather have teeth pulled from her skull then tell him any of that conversation. She wasn't about to risk a life long friendship over some stupid crush she continued to harbor, despite her trying so very hard to get over it.
Billy Russo didn't play the relationship game well, pulling away from any and everyone who wanted more than a fuck buddies status. She was actually surprised she managed to stay in his life so long with his fear of commitment, but then again she had been there from the beginning. And Billy never looked at her with the thought of a relationship, she probably wasn't even fuckable in his eyes. Which classified her in with his family, his brothers, like Frank and Curtis.
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you I'm afraid." She joked, diverting his attention away from the current direction the conversation was headed.
Smirking devilishly, Billy shook his head at her antics. "Fine, but I'll figure it out. I have my ways."
"Karen doesn't count, you know." Using her elbow, Mattie nudged him in his side gently. Wiggling her brows at him, knowing full well he was gonna run to Karen for answers. "Plus she has nothing to do with this." It was true, Karen wasn't privy yet to Matties feelings towards Billy. But the woman was hot on the trail, her journalism background making it all too easy to put pieces together.
"If you say so." He shrugged his shoulders, before motioning for her to follow him across the dance floor.
Their playful bickering quickly died down as they continued to walk. She felt his hand hover behind the small of her back, as he led her through the crowd of people mingling about. He gave a few obligatory waves, to what she assumed were high end clients of his as they made their way towards the elevators. All the while Mattie tried to ignore the pointed stares from a group of gorgeously dressed women who they passed by. Their eyes burning a hole into the back of her head, one large enough that Mattie subconsciously shrank in on herself. Pulling the edges of her leather jacket closed in a lame attempt to shield herself from their judgmental gaze.
Mattie was used to this happening, it came with the territory of being Billy's friend sometimes. Except she never got accustomed to the looks of pure hatred or disgust when their eyes panned from Billy to her. It bothered her more than it should have, but she'd never admit that to anyone. Especially not to Billy.
Mattie didn't realize she'd been staring blankly at the lit up elevator button before she heard Billy speak again. So engrossed in her thoughts, oblivious to the world around her, that she barely remembered how they came to be standing at the elevator doors. "You look pretty tonight." He reached up from beside her and tugged on the few loose strands of hair that fell from behind her ear. Trying to draw her attention up to him. "Who knew Mattie could clean up so well." He chuckled playfully.
"Yeah, who knew." She sighed, shifting her bag onto her shoulders. Tightening the straps as she looked up and watched their distorted reflections slowly disappear as the elevator doors opened.
"Billy, there you are! I have been wandering all over this place looking for you." Mattie tipped her head towards the femaine voice that shouted out from behind them. Her eyes instantly landing on a dark haired woman in a figure flattering, red strapless dress, with heels that would certainly kill Matties ankles if she ever tried them on.
The woman instinctually snaked her arm around his waist, inserting herself between the two of them. Staking her claim, on a man who probably wouldn't even call her back in the morning. Billy was ever the player, and very few of his hookups evolved past the first night, the commitment phobe he was. The lady was delusional if she thought she could change him, be the female in Billy's life that would finally tame the man enough to settle him down.
Mattie cautiously watched as she smiled sweetly up at Billy, batting her fake eyelashes, as if it would bring him to his knees before her. Then swiftly turned to give Mattie a scrutinizing once over. Her pretentious nose held up and a possessiveness darkened  her eyes the longer she stared.
"I told you, just like everyone else, that I'd be back." Even from here Mattie heard the annoyance laced in Billy's words. Though it appeared that fact was completely lost on the woman.
"She must not have gotten the memo then either." The snark in the woman's voice was enough for Mattie to want to roll her eyes so hard she wouldn't be able to see straight for weeks. But she held it together, knowing Billy's award party was not the place to act so immaturely, no matter how much she desperately wanted to.
After all, his clients and potential clients lined the room. People that had more money and power then Mattie would ever have, even if she managed to sell her soul to the devil for those two things exclusively. Last thing she wanted was to be blamed for a deal gone bad because she made a dramatic show when she should have just sucked it up and let the woman's condescending words run off her back.
"I was walking Mattie out, now if you'll excuse us." He made an attempt to push her away, but the woman clung on for dear life instead. Wrapping her arms tighter around his waist in protest.
"So this is Mattie, huh?" The fake smile that pulled slowly across the woman's face could have won her a well deserved Oscar. "Billy here," she lifted her free hand and gently patted his chest playfully, "just cannot stop talking about what the two of you get up to. He almost had me believing you were one of his buddies from the Marines."
"Nope, just an old friend." Mattie calmly stated, keeping her words curt.
"I was worried there for a split second, but Billy doesn't quite appear to be your type. Now does he?" It was the smugness that punched Mattie in the gut, knocking the air out of her lungs. Chest tightening as her anxiety once again spiked higher than any building new york had to offer.
At this point Mattie knew where this was headed, some backhanded compliments and a few fake words of endearment, that frankly she wasn't in the mood for tonight. However, her escape route of the elevator was no longer accessible. The doors had shut since so much time had passed.
Not taking her eyes away from them, Mattie hit the call button a bit overzealously, the smack of her skin against the metal button loud enough it caught the attention of a few people nearby. "Never thought about it. Like I said, he's just a good friend." Mattie nervously tapped the toe of her boot against the marble floor, desperately wanting the elevator doors to open up and save her from whatever was happening.
"I'm sure you think that." The woman chuckled.
Mattie slammed her hand on the call button once more. Wanting to get out of there and away from the woman. It had been awhile since one of his floozys grew a pair and came after her for being so close to Billy. Laying the seeds of doubts in Matties head, not that she needs much to push her over the edge in that direction of thought. It however was new that someone did it in front of him, so openly and blatant. They were usually much more passive aggressive, cornering her in a bathroom or just giving her the stare down from across the room.
Mattie didn't give Billy a chance to respond, or worse take the side of the woman, the ding of the elevator doors instantly had her stepping inside. Running away from problems was her forte afterall. "Have a great night, Billy, and congrats on the award again." Mattie gave an awkward little wave before slamming the close door button.
"Christ, Matt..." She watched as Billy pulled the woman's arms off him, and rushed towards the elevator doors. "Wait, will you…"
Thankfully they closed before he could stop them. Instead she watched Billy's figure disappear behind the reflective metal, before taking a step back to lean against the handrail and heaved a heavy sigh. Her hand coming up and running down her face in exasperation. It was no wonder why Frank ignored these women, they were all insufferable.
*******
It didn't take her long to make her way to the parking garage, weaving her way up the ramps until she got to the floor she parked on. In truth she was in no rush to get home, remembering the long trek up the twelve flights of stairs to her apartment she more than likely had.
There was a newly wed couple a few floors below her that enjoyed hitting the emergency stop while they got all hot and heavy inside. First of all, it gave her the absolute creeps and she refused to touch anything with her bare hands when she stepped inside the damn elevator anymore. Secondly, it would not surprise her one bit if she walked into her complex and the elevator was off at this time of night.
Maybe she would swing by Karen's and crash the night on the couch. She always had a stash of clothes in her closet and Karen had never turned her away before. Not to mention Frank was more than likely still up at this hour, which would mean someone would hear her if she knocked on the door.
Deciding that was the best course of action, Mattie reached around and shifted her bag onto her side. Allowing her to dig through the worthless contents until her fingers grazed her phone that had sank to the bottom.
"I was starting to think I was at the wrong car?"
With the night so quiet and the concrete garage muffling the noises from the city, the voice that called out made her jump slightly. Causing her to fumble with her phone, dropping it to the ground after a few failed attempts to catch it.
For a brief moment Mattie was all but certain she was going to be murdered and end up on one of those true crime shows she had become addicted to. Girl alone in a parking garage, late at night, no one around to hear her? However, when she looked up she saw Billy leaning against the side of her Jeep. Arms crossed over his chest as he stared at her, a sly smirk tugging at his lips.
"Well I thought I was gonna be murdered, so I guess we were both wrong." She sighed to herself as she leaned over and picked up her phone. Giving it a quick once over, noticing the corner of her screen now had a huge crack in it. "What are you doing out here anyways? Don't you have a party… I mean women to woo?" Standing up, she shoved her phone back into her bag.
Quirking an eyebrow up, Billy pushed off the side of her car. "Why? Someone jealous?"
And there he was, the Billy she never really cared for. The one shot of tequila to many, overtly arrogant, smug son of a bitch that made her want to recoil. He didn’t rear his ugly head too often in her presence but on the occasions he did, Mattie hated it. And she really hated that it happened tonight. Especially since he had been so good twenty minutes earlier.
"If you just followed me down here to harass me, Billy, I'm not in the mood." Running a tired hand through her hair, Mattie gave him a pleading glance. Hoping he would see and have some mercy on her.
She watched as his eyes flickered around, taking in the surroundings before finally settling on her face. To which he lifted his hands in surrender. "I just wanted to make sure you were ok. I understand you get caught in the crossfire more than I care for when it comes to the women following after me. Just want to make sure you didn't take anything she said seriously, Mattie."
"Comes with the territory, I'm used to it by now." Mattie shrugged her shoulders, pushing off his concerns like she so often did. Wondering why Billy was even down here telling her all this.  What was so different about tonight, that he felt the need to follow after her? To, in a roundabout way, apologize for some floozies actions? That certainly wasn't the Billy Russo she knew.
"You shouldn't have to be used to it though," he took a step towards her, his dark eyes honing in on her own. "Frank always called me stupid, and I never realized why until tonight." Billy sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. Pushing the stray strands that had fallen in front of his face back in place.
"Frank's a little instigator, he likes pushing your buttons." Subconsciously Mattie took a half step back, keeping some distance between them. "He likes pushing everyone's buttons for that matter." Frank was not particular about who he bothered, whether it was Curtis or Karen. If he saw something you were ignoring or trying to hide he'd call you out on your shit, which caused many an argument.
Shaking his head, Billy glanced at the ground as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his perfectly tailored trousers. "No, Matt." He peeked up at her, a flash of nervousness appearing behind his eyes for a fleeting moment. It happened so quickly she wasn't sure if her mind made it up. Billy Russo and nerves weren't exactly synonymous with each other. "How often do things like that happen when I'm not around?" He cautiously asked, seemingly hesitant to know the truth.
His question took her slightly aback, letting out a sad chuckle as her mind started to mentally tally up the incidents. However, like always, she tried to divert the conversation onto another topic, avoiding answering him. "How much have you had to drink tonight?" She asked, her chest tightening with each word she spoke. A flaming heat starting at her feet and creeping up her body as anxiety consumed her entire being.
"What? Mattie, I've only had three glasses of champagne. I promise you I'm not drunk, if that's what you're implying." Taking another step towards her, Billy reached out trying to take hold of her arm. But Mattie side stepped him, reaching in her bag for her keys instead.
"This just seems out of character for you, is all." She admitted, looking Billy over with a scrutinizing gaze. Wondering if she would be able to read his body language enough to steer this conversation in another direction.
"Me caring about you is out of character? Mattie, I'd do anything for you. You know that, right?"
"Well you don't have too. I can take care of myself." Running her free hand through her hair once again, she let out a heavy sigh. "Why don't you just go back to your party, Billy? I need to get to Karen's so I can get some decent sleep before I start work in," she clicked the home button on her phone, lighting up the screen to read the time. Noticing it was almost 1 o'clock in the morning, far later then she realized. "5 hours."
"Karen's? What's wrong with your place?" He stepped closer once more, closing the distance between them further. Placing himself in front of her car, making it difficult to maneuver around him. "You can stay at mine, it's a lot closer and you don't have to kick Frank off the couch."
Shaking her head, Mattie finally decided to push him aside. Her hands rested against his chest as she tried to move him. Like if she used enough force he would take the hint and just let her go about her evening. "Like that's gonna go over well with your hook up tonight." She tilted her head, giving him a pointed look. "I can see that tantrum coming at me like a bullet."
Billy opened his mouth to make a retort but quickly snapped it closed, knowing she was more accurate than he cared to admit. She always was. Mattie had always been the realistic friend in his life, the only person who called it as she saw it with him. Her being at his apartment would have put a damper on any evening romps. But for the first time in his life, Billy didn't want one of those women waiting for him upstairs. No, he wanted Mattie.
Frank always called him stupid, and in truth Billy thought it was Frank being Frank. Busting his balls for not being the brightest bulb in the box. That wasn't entirely the case though, Frank was stating the obvious. Billy had feelings for Mattie. He’s had feelings for her since he left on his first tour as a Marine. They were both eighteen and, as he hugged her goodbye, he noticed the pained look in her eyes. It was the first time in his life that he ever felt loved, truly and unconditionally loved by someone. Like if he died in combat there'd be somebody to mourn his loss… And that both terrified and excited him.
Growing up in a group home, being abandoned at such a young age, only being wanted for his looks left him a mess emotionally. But Mattie didn't care about any of that bullshit. And despite his feelings towards her, he would rather eat a live grenade then follow through with his thoughts. If he lost her because he sabotaged everything good in his life, he'd never live with himself after that.
Tonight, however, was a catalyst for him needing to change that. Billy knew the women he typically went after were catty and possessive, but he had no idea they'd have the nerve to go after Mattie. It was clear by her desperate attempt at leaving, as if the building was on fire, that this wasn't the first time this had happened. And that thought alone made him feel like the biggest piece of shit.
Shaking his head, he cautiously reached for her hands laying against his chest. Lamely trying to push him away. "I'm not taking anyone home tonight but you."
"Billy…." She started to protest, like she always did. Putting his needs above her own in every situation.
But he was quick to cut her off, using his hands, he pulled her against him hard. Head dipping down to place his lips against her own. Billy half expected Mattie to fight him, and she did briefly, her hands gripping into the fabric of his dress shirt. Tugging at it in hopes to pull away, but Billy refused to let her move. Needing her soft, warm lips that sent a ball of heat through his entire being when they touched. It was far too good to end it so quickly. Soon though she settled down and he couldn't help fighting the smile that spread across his face, mouths still melded together as she no longer fought him. Instead moving her lips wantonly with his.
After a few breathless moments he pulled a hair's breadth away from her, eyes searching her face for any sign of what was going on in that constant turning mind of hers. It was a rare moment that Billy couldn't figure out what Mattie was thinking, but this was one of them. Her eyes were narrowed in contemplation, staring at his chin, refusing to meet his own gaze. Her tongue poked through her lips, gently licking at her skin where he could see the sheen from their mixed saliva.
"Gonna say something?" He playfully asked, hoping it would break her from her trance like stare.
Instead of words, she lifted her head up to look at him. Matties eyes glossy, and teeth now sunk into her bottom lip as she seemed to struggle with herself.
"Hey." Billy moved to pull her to him again. Brows furrowed in deep concern seeing her this distraught. He would have never done what he did if he thought this was the reaction it was gonna provoke. "Mattie, talk to me?"
She sidestepped him, hand coming up and viciously rubbing underneath her eyes. Trying desperately to will the stinging threat of tears away. "If this is some joke, it's not funny Billy."
"Joke? You think I would kiss you for some joke?" He for the life of him he never expected that accusation, and it left his mouth open slightly in disbelief. "You really think that little of me? Christ, Mattie, I know I can be a dickhead sometimes, but I'd never do something like that to you."
"Then why now of all times?" She crossed her arms over her chest, dropping her head as her eyes panned the cracked concrete floor.
Running a hand through his hair in exasperation, Billy hesitantly moved closer to her. "Ever since I've known you, I've put you in this untouchable category in my head. Something I can't taint by fucking it up."
"How considerate." He could see her eyes roll even with her head being down. The typical amount of sass in her voice when she was mildly annoyed.
"Let me finish." He warned, taking on a dark tone. Not exactly in the mood to play these games with her anymore. "I've loved you since we were eighteen years old, Mattie. You've been the only person in my life I've known thats given a fuck about me. But I fuck up everything I put my dick near. I didn't want to lose you ‘cause I did something stupid, ‘cause it would have happened. I would have fucked us up, and in the process lost the only good thing in my life."
"Why is tonight so different then? What happened upstairs that made you change your mind all of a sudden?" She asked cautiously, however she didn't leave him time to answer as she continued on. "What made you decide I'm not 'untouchable' anymore?" Feeling like he would rip the carpet out from under her feet at any moment Mattie looked away from him again. Unable to hold his dark gaze out of fear.
Shaking his head he let a sad chuckle escape his lips. "I should have known all along the way some of those women treat you." He reached out and gently grasped her upper arm. Using his thumb to sooth circles against the leather of her jacket. "How cruel they are. How fucking righteous they think they are, pretending like they speak for what I want." With his other hand he nervously ran a hand through his hair for the hundredth time that night. "I…" He started but couldn't bring himself to finish his thought as he watched a stray tear roll down her reddened cheek.
Instead he stepped closer and, with a gentleness Billy didn't know he had in him, used the pad of his thumb to wipe away her sadness. "Talk to me, Mattie, please." He whispered almost in desperation after what felt like hours of silence between them.
With sullen eyes she peered up at him briefly, allowing Billy to get a glimpse of the torment behind them. "I can't hold a candle to the women you've been with Billy. You and I both know that this," she vaguely gestured between them, "won't work."
If there was ever a question that Billy had a heart, he certainly knew it now. Her defeated words slapped him across the chest like spiked lead weights.
"Do you know how long I wished you'd see me as something other than a friend?" A dry, pathetic laugh escaped her lips as she finally admitted her feelings out loud. Only to pull away once again, recoiling at how stupid it all sounded. "Years…" He barely heard her answer her own question. "But even after all these years I knew I'd never be on the same level as you, Billy. I don't fit your playboy, millionaire lifestyle and I never will. It was a nice daydream but that's all it ever was. I'm much better friend material."
Shaking his head at her words he wished he hadn't wasted so much fucking time convincing himself she was the one that deserved better then him. That he would fuck up whatever relationship developed between them, but here he was ruining their relationship anyways. He was practically seeing it crumble away like dry sand in the desert right before his eyes.
"Mattie…" He started, keeping his voice as soft as he could muster. But she stopped him from continuing, raising up a hand to silence him.
"Just drop it, please." There was a desperate plea hidden behind her eyes. An emotion Billy only ever saw once before this moment and that was when he had been seriously injured on one of his first tours. "You're drunk, don't do something you're gonna regret."
She thought she was going to lose him, and this was her way of protecting herself.
Furrowing his brows, he stepped a few feet away from her to give her space. "I'm not drunk, Matt, you out of anyone knows what I look like wasted." He held his hands up, trying to get her to calm down. Knowing she was moments away from jumping in her Jeep and driving off. "This ain't it." Pointing a finger back at himself.
"Then don't do something you'll regret tomorrow morning."
Shaking his head, Billy took note of how her shoulders sagged in defeat. "The only thing I regret is not realizing how much I've hurt you." He took a hesitant step back in her direction when he noticed she wasn't moving anymore. "That me not being able to trust myself with you, made you think you weren't good enough."
He closed the gap between them, gently grabbing her hands that were fisted at her sides. Feeling them tremble ever so slightly in his own, as his eyes tried to search her down cast face. "Mattie please…"
She didn't pull away from his touch, which gave him a little bit of hope. If she wanted out she would have ended this conversation and left him standing alone in this cold ass parking garage.
"Billy!" A woman's voice echoed through the parking garage, causing Mattie to stiffen. "There you are! They're looking all over the place for you upstairs. I told them you probably just needed some fresh air." As the woman grew closer, Mattie realized exactly who it was, making her pull away from Billy almost immediately. "Come on Billy, you can walk me back upstairs. Show me off to the crowd a little." The high-pitched laugh had Mattie cringing as she reached for her keys once again.
She didn't have the willpower to deal with the girl's judgemental looks for a second time that evening. Once at the elevator upstairs was enough for a lifetime.
"I'll be up in a minute." His eyes bored into Mattie as he watched her physically shrink in on herself. Wondering if she was always this visibly bothered by people interrupting them, or if he was just more aware of it because of the current state of things between them.
"Everyone's waiting for your speech though." She added while placing her hands on her hips. Clearly annoyed that Billy wasn't just immediately following her command.
"Well they can wait." He snapped.
"Billy, it's ok, really. Go do your speech." Mattie sighed softly to herself, using her hand to push some hair away from her face. Allowing him to see a redness growing in her eyes and her bottom lip trembling before she sank her teeth into soft flesh again. "It's important to Anvil."
"She's right, now let's go." With an outstretched hand the woman beckoned Billy towards her. A devious smirk pulled across her face thinking Billy would jump when she demanded him to. But that was far from reality.
Mattie expected him to turn on that professional charm of his, straighten his suit coat out and head back to the elevators to finish the evening out. At that point the woman might have thought she had been the one to convince Billy, but Mattie knew he'd be doing it only because she asked. However Billy didn't move, nor did he even pay much attention to the woman as she stood there tapping the toe of her high heel against the concrete floor impatiently.
Shaking his head, Billy ignored the woman behind him. Instead he took hold of Mattie's hands once again, his fingers prying her keys from her vice like grip she had on them. Placing them down on the hood of her Jeep once he got them free.
"You're more important to me." He whispered softly. "There would be no Anvil or Billy Russo if it wasn't for you, Matt." Billy admitted, seeing her head shake ever so softly in refusal at the facts.
It was the truth, whether she wanted to hear it or not. Billy would have turned into some punk ass jerk, probably locked up behind bars right now, if she hadn't been there to pick up his pieces. If Mattie didn't straighten him up and push him to be the man he was this very day. As for Anvil, when he pitched the idea to her she had been so onboard for him to try the venture. Deep down Billy knew as long as he was out of the military Mattie would have gone along with basically any of his half-baked ideas.
Mattie wasn't well off but he remembered her reaching into her bag that night, whipping out her checkbook so she could write him a check for what little she had been able to save up. It was a couple thousand dollars, an amount he certainly didn't deserve and didn't want, but she had insisted. Practically shoving the check down his shirt when he tried to give it back several times.
"I know you don't want to believe that but it's true." He whispered again, his face inches away from hers now.
She was torn, a part of her desperately wanted to fall into his arms and be swept away like she had always dreamed of. However the realistic part of her was still apprehensive, treading on paper thin ice as she tiptoed towards him. Waiting for the ice to finally crack beneath her weight and send her spiraling back into a reality where Billy would never in a million years stare at her like he was doing currently.
Mattie was never a risk taker in life, and with the glowering eyes of the woman behind them she wasn't going to change that aspect about herself now. "If I mean that much to you, go upstairs and sweet talk those investors. If not for yourself, but for me." She reached for her keys Billy had placed on the hood, gripping onto them tightly, grounding herself in the action. "I'm not worth throwing all that away for." Her words were barely audible as she leaned up and kissed him on his cheek.
She felt him try to reach for her again, his hands desperate to pull her back to face him. Mattie shrugged them off though, walking quickly around to the drivers side door, clicking the lock button so she could climb inside. "I'll see you around." Was the only thing she could bring herself to say, before shutting the car door and driving off. Leaving the two of them standing in the parking garage alone.

-⭐️
summary: Frank shows up unannounced and hurt at a ridiculous time, but he's lucky that you're willing to put up with that.
tws: injury and wounding, swearing
Oh, Frank was buggered as he hung onto the doorframe and waited for you to answer, doubting that you would; it was hardly dawn yet, the sun only just starting to get up onto its throne, and the chilly wind that whispered so softly made him growl and hang his head, agitated wounds never did like the cold. But then he perked up a little, knowing the song so damn well and fucking grinning when he heard it as the door opened.
'Treat Me Like the Dog I Am', Mötley Crüe. You said nothing as you dragged Frank's sorry ass inside and made him sit down at your kitchen table; he didn't want to talk, not really, but Billy Russo had told him that you were next. He didn't want to go anywhere else even though he had plenty of friends who were qualified for this sort of thing; he didn't like the thought of you being safe. Not when you had come so far in your transition that he was floored by how proud of you he felt. Not when you had always been the most handsome man in his life. Not when you were the only one who could make him blush and grin with little more than a smile; he hadn't done that in so long, before he met you, there had only one person who could do such a thing. Maybe she sent you Frank's way. Maybe not. He wasn't really into that sort of thing; religion was never really his scene.
Still, right now, there were two things on his mind; the first was getting those damn wounds patched. He could do it himself, he had done it before a thousand and one times, but he missed having someone take care of him; the doctors and nurses that he had alliances with could have done it, but Frank felt like he needed to be here with you. He felt like he had to stay, just to keep you safe and sound, just to guard you and shield you.
As you sat down with him, you tore open a packet of plasters and antiseptic wipes, sighing heavily as you chewed at the inside of your lip; sure, Frank had been there for you more times than you could count. He taught you how to present yourself in the way that you felt most comfortable when you asked, he supported you with everything - from your transition and how you saw fit to do so, all the way through to telling you which haircuts would suit you best and even through to the little things like giving you words of reassurance and softness when you needed them - without hesitation, he was there in a heartbeat if you ever needed him. Like when he had brought over battenburg cake at three o'clock in the morning because you wanted some; you weren't sure how he had gotten it when all the shops were closed, but you didn't question it. But it was more than that.
Frank meant a lot to you, a Hell of a lot, and even though you often worried about him, you knew that you had no right to; your feelings for him would never be returned, you had no right to worry when he was the Punisher and you were little more than just some guy who fancied him. You never had any right to worry, but when he clenched his jaw and growled at the sting of the antiseptic, you swallowed thickly and sighed.
"I'm sorry, Frank, but it's gonna hurt like a bitch."
"I'm fine," he replied, "as long as I got you, (y/n), I'm fine."
'Far from the Fame' by Sabaton started to play, and Frank actually relaxed a little when you started to hum along to it, even daring to smile when you sang the chorus to yourself.
"As the war rages on, you are our guide, far, far from the fame, far, far away from the fame but we still remember your name, Karel Janoušek, we mourn the day that you died so be our guide, Czechoslovakia’s pride..."
Frank really missed moments like this, moments when he could actually relax just because he was around you, and he could hear you quietly sing along to the songs you loved so much; he didn't even pay attention to how you patched him up, lost in the sound of your voice and the gentle grace of your fingertips. He licked his lips, and just as he was about to speak, you beat him to it.
"You're all done," you told him, patting his shoulder. "Just don't go getting stabbed and shot and God knows what else again."
He nodded, stealing a look at you and swallowing thickly. "Y'know, I always did like hearing you sing."
You scoffed as you raised a brow, shaking your head. "Of course you do... you want a coffee?"
"Yeah, please," he agreed, watching you walk away as you went about putting the medical equipment away. He heard the rush of the boiling tap and he heard the clink of the spoon against the mug, and before he could thank you properly, you set a cup of coffee in front of him.
"You might as well stay for a while," you told him. "Y'know, so I can keep an eye on you."
Frank hummed, tracing the rim of the mug with his finger as he did his best not to look at you. "Yeah, course... I might as well anyway, someone's gotta protect you."
"I don't need protecting," you muttered. "But if it makes you feel better... sure. You can even sleep in my bed tonight."
"Sounds good," he dared to crack a smile. So broken and jaded and hardly even a smile, but to you, it meant everything. "Besides, if I don't protect you... how can I make sure the only guy I wanna be with is safe?"
You furrowed your brows. "The fuck do you mean?"
"I mean..." he ran a hand down his face and grumbled. "I've been thinking, (y/n), and if you... look, I'm never gonna be a perfect boyfriend, maybe not even a fucking good one, but... if you want me, you can have me."
You nodded slowly, swallowing thickly. "I can have you?"
"If you want me," Frank said quietly. "Otherwise I won't say shit about it again."
"I do," you admitted, daring to grin. "Fuck, Frank, why didn't you say earlier? I mean... shit. I'll tell you later."
"No one's ever gonna get you, though," he growled. "No one. You're mine, no one else is allowed to fucking touch you, and I'll make sure of it."

“There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met.” - Jim Henson

Hazel smiled as she sat next to Billy's bed, it had only been a week since she had started reading to him but it had become a welcome moment of peace. She took his hand in hers and placed the next book on the bed, it was Death on the Nile this time, "it looks like we're opening up next week."
Billy was elated, he wanted to cheer but he couldn't. He knew his friends would love Hazel. He could see the meeting in his head, Frank would wrap her in one of his bone crushing bear hugs, Curtis would extend his hand with a smile and Karen would insist on drinks at the bar with Matt and Foggy.
Each time Hazel's voice had floated into his mind and her warm hand linked in his, he had focused all his energy on just one squeeze but so far, it had been fruitless. His frustration grew as he always managed to do it when she wasn't there. Sometimes it was a moment after she left, sometimes it took all day for him to manage a twitch but he was going to do it.
He knew the other voice too, Lizabeth's, and he wondered if she looked as fed up as she always sounded, "you should tell me about your day, he's probably getting sick of your murder mysteries by now."
Hazel huffed, "I don't think he wants to hear that."
"Of course I do." That was all he wanted to say but he couldn't even manage a sound. He wanted far more than what Hazel had said about herself in passing.
Lizzy sighed, "just give him the spark notes, then you can start the book."
Billy heard Lizabeth leave the room and he waited for Hazel's soft voice to fill his ears, "she won't let up until I do," Billy believed it, "well, it started bad because I spilt my coffee and it was the last of what I had at home so I had to brave the subway uncaffeinated. I thought I was going to commit homicide because the person next to me was chewing too loud."
He wanted to laugh, to tell her stories about being stuck in holes with men who behaved like pigs.
"Then I got a call about Barry's fancy food, it's on time so he'll get his clams before he grows legs and lungs and eats me in the middle of the night." Barry was Hazel's pufferfish, although Billy thought she was talking about a dog the first time she spoke of him.
He could say so many things, he wondered if she would be shy or smile and toss him something back.
"And I'm pretty sure a doctor just asked me on a date, I said yes." Billy could hear his huff, a woman that beautiful should know when she's being asked out.
"But he's kinda of ass so I'm just going to be nice and call it an early night. I'm far too busy to date right now, he'll you're the only man who listens to me and you're pretty much in a coma."
Billy could feel a charge in his chest, had he been awake, this would have been easy.
"Now that's enough about me, let's crack open a fresh book and settle in."
****
Billy knew it was coming, that dreaded chime, but he was planning on it. Days of matching each word with the passing seconds until he could count down until the bell rang, "well Billy, I'll be back tomorrow."
For the last twenty minutes, he put all his attention into just closing his hand. He thought it was another failed attempt as he felt Hazel's hand leave him but his hand ached and his fingers shifted and she paused.
Billy waited for her dismissal but it never came, "can you do that again?" He had a feeling that was coming and put every ounce of willpower into fulfilling her request. He must have done it because he felt her jump.
"Ok, alright. I going to get Lizzy in here, umm" Hazel's hand slipped for his briefly and he heard the call bell, "in a bit, Lizzy's going to swap with me. If you're doing this intentionally you need to squeeze her hand too, that's all I want you to focus on."
He steeled himself, just a little longer and he could rest. He heard footsteps, "what is it?" Lizabeth sounded worried.
"He squeezed my hand and I got him to do it again, I'm pretty sure this isn't just a reflect." Hazel sounded so hopeful, he wasn't going to disappoint her.
He could almost feel Lizzy waving her hand, "give him ere, Russo, I know we're not on as good of terms but can you let me know you're not bullshitting?"
Billy liked this woman, her hand was different from Hazel's, still warm and soft but different. He focused on Lizabeth's hand in his, going over his fingers as he willed them to move, "holy shit you're right."
Lizzy's hand was gone and Hazel's was back, "I'm going to go get the Neruo, you stay right there."
He was so proud of himself, it had taken every bit of his strength but he got to hear joy in Hazel's voice. "You won't need to do any more today, they'll let you have some time to get your strength back but they'll want to do some tests. I'll stay until the docs get here and when I get back tomorrow, we'll pick up where we left off. You did really good Billy. Your friends are going to be so proud of you."
The next few hours were a blur of tests and doctors. Hazel was right, they didn't ask him to do anything else but they talked him through everything. Just when he thought he couldn't take any more, it stopped and he was finally left in the peace he needed to prepare for the next day.
****
Hazel came in the next day with excitement in her voice, her hand sliding into his with a familiar warmth, "today's going to be a lot of work but I know you can do it. The docs are going be in here with us are they're going ask you some yes, no questions. All you have to do is show me what those answers feel like and we'll go from there."
He gave her a quick squeeze, "ok, you've got this, don't worry. And if you don't feel like it today, we can try again tomorrow."
There were footsteps, ones he had learned well in all his time at the hospital, "Hello Mr Russo, I'm doctor Waston, I think you've heard my voice before. Can you show Hazel what a yes is?"
He focused on holding on for a second longer than he had been, "yes?" He did it again, "ok Dr, long squezze for yes."
Now that his brain had a mission, it felt like his thoughts were racing and he tried to visualise things he wanted.
"Can you show Miss Moreau a no?" Billy
Billy's brain was working overtime now that he had her last name, he could focus on learning more about her. All he needed to do was get it to Frank. He clenched his hand and let go as fast as he could manage, "ok, short for no, can you do it again to let me know?" Billy was anxious to get this moving.
Hazel's voice grew clearer by the second, "yep, short squeeze for no." There was a pause and Billy thought he could hear something being passed to Hazel, "do you remember where we first met?"
He imagined clasping her hand in his as they walked down the street, hoping the vision would keep his fingers tensed, "yes. Was it on boat?" He released his hand and gave her a short squeeze.
"Was it on a train platform?" He was sitting across for her at the table inside the chocolate shop she had told him about. Hazel inhaled, "yes, good work Billy. You don't have long left now and then we'll let you rest. I'm going you ask some questions about your time here and I need to tell me if you remember, can you do that?" When the doctor realised that Billy was ready to communicate, they called his friends for questions they could ask him about conversations they had throughout Billy's stay.
He was still sitting in the chocolate shop. Hazel had a foam moustache and a fleck of chocolate on her plump lower lip, "do you remember when Frank told you about the new iPhone?"
Of course he did, Frank wouldn't shut up about how stupid it was, "that's good. Do you remember when you moved here? Frank and Curt were with you, they told you all about the room." He thought for a moment, white walls, lots of flowers, the nurses were dressed in light blue scrubs.
Billy searched his brain for something else, he was dancing with her at a fundraiser, she had carnations in her hair and her fingers were laced in his, "Great, that's really good Billy."
There was quiet for a moment, "I'm not asking him that, I think we should take a break." Hazel sounded angry, he didn't like it.
"Of course, I told you we'd take you lead on this."
But Billy didn't want to stop, he wanted to prove he could handle anything. He clenched his hand and then let go, hoping Hazel would pick up on what he was saying, there was a pause before she spoke, "ok Billy, I understand. Do you remember what happened the night you were hurt?"
As Billy tried to find the memories, he felt his heart race and then suddenly he couldn't feel Hazel's hand, all he could feel was agony, searing pain and breaking bones and the sound of Frank screaming his name over an unbearable ringing. Things faded fast, the darkness of pain dissolving to just darkness, he was grateful that the last thing he felt was Hazel's hand on his cheek.
****
Billy didn't sleep at all that night, the moment his awareness returned, it was like he couldn't stop his heart racing. All he wanted to do was open his eyes, to ground himself in the real world rather than the one that was pounding on the inside of his skull.
Waiting for Hazel's late afternoon visit was torture, he had spent his spare moments learning the sounds of everyone's footsteps, and Hazel's was by far his favourite.
Her hello made his heart skip, she had good news, "Hello Billy, I have good news and better news. The good news is that they're going to move you into one of the rebab rooms so you'll have more people to talk to, the better news is that the hospital will be open for visitors on Sunday."
He clenched his hand, hoping that the long press gave away that he was happy, "alright, now that we can talk, I can ask you if you want me to keep going with our murder mystery train, so you wanna pick up where we left off with Agatha?"
No, Billy didn't want that, he wanted to hear about her, he wanted to know how her date with the doctor went. He closed his hand then let go, "alright then, I'm hearing you loud and clear. We can figure this out, do you want to watch some TV? Your plan has all the channels."
Billy gave her another short squeeze, the frustration made him want to punch something. He racked his brain for an idea, combing through his thoughts until something popped up. He focused all his energy on lifting his thumb before tapping her skin quickly twice and once for longer, dot dot dash. He did it again, Hazel was an intelligent woman, she would understand that he was trying to do something even if she didn't understand what he was saying.
"Billy, are you using morse code?" He closed his hand hard, "ok, ok. U?" He could almost see her thinking, "oh, you want to hear about me?"
There was surprise in her voice, Billy couldn't decide if he liked that sound because, of course, he wanted to hear about her, "ok. Well I gave Barry his clams and he made a huge mess of his tank so I'm trying to teach him how to clean up, it's not going well. I tried a new coffee too, it's called rainbow bark roast, it's alright but I think I'm going to sign up for one the those subscription services where they send you different beans every month."
Billy wanted to tell her about the coffee he had at Anvil, about how his first frivolous purchase was an expensive coffee machine that looked like something off a steampunk spaceship. He was surprised at all the small things he wanted to share with Hazel, the little parts of his life he never thought mattered to anyone but he knew that would have mattered to her.
"Oh and I went on that date, not date, I told you about." He was happy at the disappointment in her tone, "it went exactly how I expected it to go, he talked about himself nonstop and then complained about the wine being too floral. I mean we all know wine tasting is bullshit, it's just fermented grape juice, I'd rather drink whiskey."
She liked whiskey, Billy thought to himself. There was a bar a few blocks away from Anvil that she'd love if he could only tell her about it. "You look like a guy Gin guy, I've never been able to get into it, it kinda smells like the ER on a busy friday."
He squeezed her hand then let go and she laughed, that was a sound he did like, "no? Then what do you like?"
He struck a blank, he knew what W was, he just couldn't remember it, "just take your time, all I need is a few letters." All the happy feelings vanished, he couldn't remember something as fucking simple as a letter. It didn't matter, Hazel was there with a solution.
"We can figure it out together. B for bourbon is one dash then three dots," he knew that, "S for scotch is three dots," he knew that too, "and W is.."
It came to him in a flash and he tapped it out as fast as he could, "there you go. Does that mean you're a whiskey man?"
He imagined sitting next to her on the couch, her hand in his while he enjoyed a quiet night with a glass in his hand, "ahh, a man after my own heart. You're pretty smart, you know, it would have never occurred to me to ask you to try Morse code. I have an idea, how about we got through the whole alphabet together? That was when you're friends can visit, you don't have to think so hard. Does that sound good to you?"
He hoped the force of his squeeze let her know all on its own, "great, let's start at the beginning."
****
It was slow going, but being able to tap words out opened up a whole new world. Hazel was fantastic at putting small things together. She learned Billy liked watching MMA, and the next day, she had the rundowns of all the fights that had been on since the lockdown. He was getting stronger, too, and he was slowly getting better at expressing his feelings through how hard he would squeeze her hand.
Billy's favourite times were when he got to talk about his friends, Anvil and all the places he had been. The information he could give was basic, as much as he wanted to pour his heart out, it was hard when it sometimes took him twenty minutes to tap out a seven letter word. That didn't matter to Hazel, she was always patient with him, he never felt like he couldn't answer her but she always gave him just enough of a challenge and helped him rise to it.
Sunday came in what felt like hours but Hazel never entered his room. He held on for visit her all day and the joy of hearing his friends did little to overcome her absence. Nevertheless, Frank's hand in his dulled the ache.
"Hey Bill, it's good to see you again, although from what your nurses said, you had plenty of company while we were away."
Billy wanted to tell Frank all about Hazel and once again, the frustration at his limitations was back. If he couldn't tell Frank, he would have to show him. He tapped out her name as fast as he could and Frank's laugh filled his ears, "oh, so you haven't seen me in two months and the first thing you want me to do is get your new best friend, that's cold Bill."
There was no malice in Frank's voice and the chime of the call bell filled him with hope. Lizzy's footsteps followed and Billy's heart fluttered, "yes Mr Castle, what can I get for you?"
Frank chuckled, "can you go get Hazel? Billy's asking for her."
Lizzy smiled, "I can, she'll be taking her break soon."
Billy heard her leave the room, and Frank's voice filled the space, "we were really glad to hear you had someone with you. Karen was trying to get in here without getting us into shit, but all she could come up with was a story on the hospital's cafe."
Hazel had told him about it, he knew that story wouldn't be a good one.
Frank's tone changed just as he finished telling Billy all about how Anvil was going and Frank's hand shifted from his as he stood up. "You must be Hazel?"
Billy's body filled with anticipation, "I am. It's so good to finally meet you. Billy speaks very highly of you."
Frank chuckled, "oh, I'm sure he does. I can I ask where you were today? Lizzy told me you're normal here in the afternoons."
Billy wanted to hit him, Frank was going to scare her off, "oh, I didn't want to intrude, I'm sure you two have so much to talk about."
Billy could hear a chair moving then Hazel's hand appeared in his free one, it was a strange sensation, she always sat on his left side.
"So Hazel, tell me about yourself." Billy understood where Frank was coming from but it didn't stop him from wanting to kick the shit out of him.
Hazel felt like Frank was trying to look into her soul, "there's not much to tell, I work in the peds ward which is just through the door and across the sky bridge, I live in Hell's kitchen and I have a fish named Barry."
"Why not work at Mercy if you live in Hell's Kitchen?" Billy was growing worried that Hazel would feel like Frank was judging her.
"I work with kids, Mercy's peds ward is pretty basic, plus I have some qualifications that fit better here."
Billy could tell Hazel didn't like where this was going, there was something in her tone that worried him, "I don't mean to be rude because you've done a lot for Bill but why did you want to help him?"
Hazel's hand left him and Billy felt powerless to do anything, "I met Billy on my first day in the city. Without his help, I would have spent the whole day lost. I never got the chance to thank him."
"So you did all this just for a few minutes of his time two years ago." Frank realised his slipup far too late
Billy felt the change in the air, "wait, how did you know it was two years ago?" Billy's thoughts were racing, the last thing he needed was for Hazel to be scared of him, where the fuck was Curt? He would have handled this so much better. "it was nice meeting you, Mr Castle but I think I better head back to work. I'm sure I can see Billy some time tomorrow."
Billy could tell she was scared and doing her best to hide it, he hoped to God Frank understood his as he clenched his hand and let go. Frank's chuckle filled the air, "that right Bill?" He did it again, "stay please. I'm sorry, you gotta see where I'm coming from?"
The tension faded from Billy's body and her warmth returned to his hand, "of course. It doesn't take a genius to know that Billy has a lot of money and you don't want someone you don't know taking advantage of your friend. I'm telling the truth when I say that all I want is to repay his kindness."
She sounded sad, Billy hated it, "that's all I wanted to hear. I probably wasn't the best person to do this, Curt's much better at the people thing than I am."
Hazel laughed, "yeah, I thought I was about to get yelled at. No offence."
Billy could feel the tension leave the room as they both relaxed, "none taken. Bill wants you to stay and so I do, plus you still gotta meet everyone else."
Hazel let out a nervous giggle, "Billy have me the rundown on everyone, Karen's your partner and Curt's your friend. There's also Matt and Foggy, and David and his family am I right?"
Frank nodded, "yeah, that's about it. We'll have to get you over to Avnil too, some of the guys want to thank you for all you've done."
Billy squeezed Frank's hand, hoping it was hard enough to hurt him just a little and Frank huffed, "you can't keep her all to yourself Bill."
If Billy could punch him, he would. "When do you need to do back to your shift?"
Hazel's absence didn't seem so bad now that he knew she was going to keep coming back, "twenty minutes but I'll be back at around six for my two hours with him."
"That's great, Curt and Karen will be here when they get off work. They can't wait to meet you."
Billy was suddenly unbelievably tired, the anxiety and fear fading to exhaustion, "the feeling is mutual."
When Billy came to again, he could hear more voices, all filled with affection.
"How did you manage to work out talking to him in Morse code?" Of course, Karen would ask that.
"It was all Billy, I was just there to catch it." Billy wanted to chastise her, she was the one who gave him the time of day and her faith, he wouldn't have been able to do it all by himself.
"We'll have to have you over for dinner, Sarah's been insisting that we should at least bring you lunch the moment the hospital reopen." He hoped Curt would be more subtle but he knew how it would go with the others, Frank would grunt out a request and Karen would give a demand that sounded like an invitation.
"Thank you for the offer but I couldn't possibly intrude. Maybe when Billy is up and moving around, we can revisit it." Hazel sounded a little taken aback.
"Of course, but I'm sure Billy's going to be more insistent than us." Billy was glad Curt didn't push it, he was smart enough to know that things couldn't get too personal or the ethics board was going to start pocking around, he had a plan for that but now wasn't the time.
Billy wasn't upset when the chime came, "Sadly, I have to head home but I'll be back tomorrow."
Hazel's hand left his, "you can't stay?"
Billy wanted to laugh, he knew Frank would warm to her quickly, "no, I can't stay on hospital grounds any longer," she paused, "I can rearrange my day tomorrow so we can talk more if you like?"
"Sounds good, we'll see you tomorrow."
Billy didn't know how to put his feelings into words, but he had a new mission, open his eyes and say hello.

It’s been four weeks since Jessie broke up with Billy. The transition for Ben had been hard at first with many tears involved and a few sleepless nights. Thankfully Steve was around to help his son during this transition. If anything this made Ben and Steve have a closer bond. Jessie loved seeing them interact with each other and hearing their laughter fill the room. There was no denying Ben was close with his dad.
Now that August rolled in that meant school was back in session. Steve insisted on driving Ben to his elementary school to make up for lost time. This would give Jessie time to shower and eat before heading to work with Clint following her on his bike to make sure she was safe. Jessie would work an easy nine to two pm shift so she could get Ben in the afternoons. Then they would head home so Ben could get a snack and play.
On the weekend the biker club would get together to have fun. Even Winnie, who was everyone’s favorite, would go to cookouts just to spend time with what was known as family time. It was always a blast seeing everyone for Jessie. These were the moments she missed when she ended up with Billy. Now that she was single she got to spend time with everyone including Steve who was still living in her spare room. She often wondered what it would be like to get back with him. Could they build a future together? She snapped out of her thoughts and watched as Ben ran around the front yard with Steve. The little boy would squeal in delight as his dad caught him, picked him up, and swung him in a circle. Steve was exactly how she pictured he would be with their son.
Steve put Ben back on the ground and the little boy ran to his mamaw for snuggles. This gave Steve the opening he was looking for. He walked over to Jessie and smiled. “Can I talk with you in private?”
Jessie nodded her head and took the hand Steve offered. Their friends were whistling as they walked to Bucky’s garage and a yell of “you better not do what I’m thinking” came from Bucky. Steve laughed as he put his hands up assuring his friend it was innocent. Jessie and Steve walked into the garage in silence.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Jessie asked cautiously. A part of her was nervous as he had sounded serious.
“It’s nothing bad I swear. I was just thinking that we have been spending so much time together that I was wondering if you want, maybe we could start dating again. I know the breakup with Billy was difficult but we have a past that I thought we could explore again. What do you say?” Steve was nervous that she wouldn’t be ready yet but he was ready to try and fix things for his little family.
Jessie briefly pondered what Steve said and in her mind, it was a no-brainer. “Yes, I would really like to try this again with you.” Steve grinned and scooped her up into a huge hug and kissed her with such passion it made her toes curl. Steve put Jessie back down and they walked hand in hand to tell their family the good news. Everyone congratulated them and wished them the happiness they truly deserved.
Bucky hugged Steve and spoke threateningly, “Break my sister's heart again and I will end you punk.”
Steve chuckled, “Not gonna happen Jerk. This time it’s forever.”
Winnie was in tears as she hugged her daughter telling her “everything is now the way it was meant to be.” The night went on with everyone talking and eating. Life couldn’t have been more perfect than it was now. This is what life should have always been like from the beginning. They were finally a family unit now. Ben had stability, Jessie felt safe again and Steve was happy to get his family back.
Tumblr media
Sunday mornings were made for cuddle times with Jessie and Ben. Ben would come into her room around seven A.M. and crawl into the bed with his teddy bear all sleepy. Ben would then snuggle with his mama while she slept.
An hour later Steve was up and heading to where he would find his family. Steve walked into Jessie’s room and watched as Jessie and Ben both slept peacefully. He smiled big as he made his way into the room. Looking at the empty opposite side of the bed Steve couldn’t help but crawl under the covers. This moment with his son and Jessie would forever stay in his mind forever.
A half-hour passed and Jessie started to stir in her sleep. As she slowly opened her eyes she saw Ben cuddled next to her as he held his teddy bear.  As her eyes drifted behind him she smiled bigger seeing Steve laying on his side looking at her.
“Good morning Steve.”
“Good morning my love.”
Jessie couldn’t help but feel her face heat up over the nickname. “How long have you been here?”
Steve grinned. “Just long enough to watch you sleep a little. I couldn’t help myself, you both looked so peaceful that I had to join you.”
“You’re always welcome to join us. Little man here has been doing this since he could walk.”
“Shhhhh, mama I’m trying to sleep.” Ben gave a whine from being disturbed.
“Ben, did you see Daddy joined snuggle time?”
Slowly Ben opened his eyes and turned over to face Steve. Grabbing his bear, Ben buried himself against Steve. Jessie couldn’t help but giggle at the way their son was already back asleep and cuddled against Steve.
After another hour of sleeping in, everyone got out of bed and changed for the day. Jessie announced they were going to Mamaw’s home for breakfast as usual. Ben was cheering as he ran through the house. Once they were ready they piled into the truck and headed over to Winnie’s home.
Once they arrived they were greeted by Winnie who stood on the porch. As usual, Ben screamed her name and ran over to her. Jessie and Steve laughed at their son who was already in Winnie’s arms and asking about breakfast. Within minutes Bucky and Nat were pulling up on his Harley Davidson. Sunday breakfast was a tradition now for the Barnes family to get together and enjoy their time together.
Nat hopped off the bike, followed by Bucky and the four of them walked into the house together. By the time everyone hugged and started to sit down to eat Jessie noticed a ring on Nat's left hand.
Jessie softly smiled. “So Nat want to tell us about that ring?”
Everyone looked between Bucky who was grinning and Nat who blushed. “Well Jessie, everyone, Bucky proposed last night. Obviously, I said yes.” She held up her hand to show everyone. Winnie was up out of her seat and hugged Nat. Jessie got out of her chair to hug her best friend next while Steve and Bucky hugged.
“What can I say? I'm in love with the fiery redhead who has a heart of gold.” Bucky declared as Nat gave him a side-eye.
The rest of the morning was spent eating and talking about the upcoming wedding. Nat and Bucky both agreed they didn’t want to wait another year so the plan was for next month. Talks of venue and dresses had Jessie thinking about when she was engaged to Steve. If everything had gone to plan they would have been married five years now. She looked at her left hand which was bare and glanced at Steve who was staring at her. His blue eyes said everything she felt. What if?
As it approached the afternoon Bucky and Nat left to go for a Sunday drive. Winnie offered to watch Ben so Jessie and Steve could have the night together. They agreed and drove back to the house to get his Harley. Once they got home they were off riding to a destination unknown. With the wind in their face and the sun at their backs, it didn’t matter where they went as long as they were together.
By midafternoon Steve stopped for gas at the gas station on the edge of town. While filling his tank he heard another motorcycle leaving their town. He watched as the bike drove out of sight. Steve thought he recognized the man but he wasn’t sure. Could it be the biker gang Hydra from the next town over? Topping the tank off Steve took this as a sign to head back into town.
Tumblr media
Later on, they headed to the bar to meet up with their friends. As they walked in they were met by Bucky, Nat, Tony, Thor, Clint, Sam, Wanda, Peter, Loki, Pietro, and Rhodey. There was a new woman there sitting next to Thor who they never met before. Going up to the group everyone greeted the couple and made room for them at the table. Thor was the first to speak.
“Steve, Jessie, I would like you to meet Jane. She is a science teacher at the high school in town. We’ve been dating for a little while quietly so I decided now was the time to introduce her to everyone.”
Jessie smiled softly at the couple. It was about time Thor found love again. “It’s very nice to meet you, Jane.”
Steve grinned at the couple. “It’s a pleasure Jane to meet you.”
“Thank you both. I’ve heard so much about you and everyone else. I’m so happy to meet you all finally.”
“Hope it was all good,” Tony replied.
Thor rolled his eyes. “Of course it was. Except for you Tony.” Tony made a shocked face as everyone started to laugh.
The day turned to night and everyone was having a great time. Club business was briefly brought up about making Peter a prospect since he turned twenty-one. All nine men voted it through and Bucky stood up giving Peter his prospect cut. Everyone cheered and whistled for him, congratulating him on taking the step to join.
It was now ten o’clock at night when the bar was picking up with customers and the club decided to part ways for the evening. Sam and Wanda worked the bar as everyone started to walk outside. As the men started getting on their bikes Steve pulled Bucky aside.
“Hey, when Jessie and I stopped for gas earlier today I saw a biker leaving town. I could have sworn it was Jack Rollins but I’m not 100% sure. We need to continue to keep one of our men on Jessie at all times just in case trouble is starting.”
“No worries Punk, no one will get close to my sister without us knowing. I will talk with the guys about this tomorrow. If it is Jack I would say he is up to no good.”
“That’s what I’m afraid of.” Both men shook hands and waved goodbye.
Steve got on his bike and waited for Jessie to hop on. Deciding to leave Ben at Winnie’s for the night the duo returned home to the house.
Tumblr media
Once home the pair got themselves changed for bed and parted ways for the night. Jessie tossed and turned for an hour in her bed. A part of her wanted Steve in her bed to hold until she fell asleep. Memories danced in her head of them years ago of making love with one another. Her hand slowly drifted to her breasts as she lightly played with her nipples. Soft pinches had her breath hitching.
The bedroom door creaked open and she instantly stopped when she saw Steve’s silhouette in the doorway. He was standing shirtless and in a pair of sweatpants. His tattoos littered his chest and down his arms, they made her lick her lips in excitement. Who knew his tattoos would make her weak in her knees?
“Steve?” she quietly asked. Her eyes roamed down his body taking in every muscle that flexed.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t sleep and I was thinking of you. Your soft curves and warm skin against me.” He entered her room closing the door behind him and slowly walked to her side of the bed. Jessie sat up, her heart was beating faster in excitement.
“I want you, Steve,” she whined.
“Oh yeah? How bad?” He questioned.
“Let me show you,” she stated. Her hands wandered from his chest and then down his stomach until she reached his pants. She pulled his pants down over his slim waist until they dropped to the floor leaving him naked in front of her. Steve kicked his pants away while Jessie climbed off her bed and knelt in front of him. Her hand wrapped around his cock and she slowly started to kitten lick his slit. Steve let out a groan as her lips wrapped around the tip and she swirled her tongue around him. Taking him fully into her mouth Jessie slowly started to bob her head up and down on his cock as her hands lightly fondled his sack making him shudder from the pleasure she gave. Steve’s hands ran through her hair and he fisted his right hand in it as he tried to ground himself. With every up and down motion of her head, Steve let out groan after groan as he tried to hold himself back. Jessie then took him all the way to the back of her throat and slightly gagged around him. He could feel himself getting closer and closer to his release the more she bobbed her head, so he gently pulled her off his cock gasping out, “As tempting as it is to cum down your throat I would rather cum deep inside you.”
Jessie smiled up at him. “I’m desperate for you. All I dream of is being with you. Make love to me, please.” Jessie all but whined out the last word. Steve helped her stand before him as he grinned at her.
“God do I love to hear you beg for me.” Their lips clashed together as they fought for dominance. Steve quickly stripped Jessie of her tank top. Little moans escaped her lips as his mouth took a nipple into it and he nipped at it lightly. They both fell to the bed as hands were caressing one another.
Steve’s hard cock ground against her clothed core. He rubbed himself back and forth a few times as they moaned in pleasure. It took all his strength to pull away briefly so he could pull her shorts off and throw them over his shoulder. He started to kiss his way down her body to her wet pussy.
Once he reached his destination Steve slowly started to lick his way through her lips before he started to feast on her. Jessie arched her back in pleasure as her moans started to build. This was always one of her favorite things Steve did in the bedroom. Every time he dipped his tongue into her pussy Jessie would gasp and shutter. Steve moved his attention to her clit, sucking it lightly as he pushed two fingers into her core. The combination of his tongue and fingers had her already cumming as he rubbed against the spongey wall inside her, moaning Steve’s name to the heavens. He continued to eat her out until he pulled a second orgasm from her. Jessie mewled and shook in pleasure as her hands fisted in the bed sheet.
“Just as good as I remembered,” Steve growled out as he licked his lips of her slick and repositioned himself. He was now caging her into the bed as he smiled down at her.
“I need you, Steve,” Jessie begged as she watched him lower his body over hers.
Steve slowly stroked his long, thick cock a few times before slowly burying himself into her. They both groaned as he rocked his hips back and forth. Steve couldn’t believe this was finally happening after all these years apart. He had dreamt a lot of being inside her sweet cunt and bringing her nothing but pleasure. He would do whatever she asked of him and more.
Jessie wrapped her legs around his waist and rolled her hips every time he thrusted into her. Her nails dug into his shoulders as they made love to one another. She chanted his name like a sweet melody to his ears.
Steve knew he wasn’t going to last long since it’s been years since they had sex. Stopping briefly Steve rolled to his back and let Jessie ride him. She looked so beautiful in his eyes, hands on his chest, head thrown back as she moaned over and over with every bounce on his cock. He reached up to grab her by the neck and brought her face to his so they could kiss.
“I’m so-so close Stevie.” She panted out.
He reached in between them and started rubbing her clit with his other hand. “Cum for me. Don’t hold back and let go.” Steve whispered huskily in her ear.
Jessie came hard moaning his name as her walls were tightening around his thick cock. This triggered Steve to cum deep inside her, painting her walls and womb white. Jessie collapsed against his chest and Steve held her tightly.
“God, I love you, Jessie,” He confessed.
She smirked big. “You’re just saying that 'cause I rode your cock.”
They both started laughing at her response. “I mean it, you're my everything. I can’t picture my life without you in it. Say you will always be mine.”
“I’m yours Steve now and forever. Ain't nothing gonna change it.”
Jessie gently slid off him to go to the bathroom to clean up. Once she was done Steve watched as she strolled out naked, her hips swaying back and forth before she climbed into bed.
Steve was starting to get hard again. “I’m not through with you just yet darling. Tonight we make love until sunrise.”

Billy’s POV
Nobody talked while we waited. The vastly decorated conference room was far too large and exquisite for the four men who occupied the seats. We simply stared at each other, silent, calculating all the ways bones could break seemingly as an accident. I lay on the back of my chair, relaxed. The barrel of my gun poked my side, but I didn’t move.
The door suddenly opened, and Richard Alcaide walked through it. He was smiling at us, but his tense shoulders revealed his true nature; he was fucking terrified.
‘Mr. Russo,’ he walked to me, his arms wide open.
I stood up, fixing my suit as he welcomed me into a quick hug.
None of his affections were real, that much we all knew. I could feel his arms slightly patting my back, an innocent gesture to the untrained eye, but I knew better. His fingers quickly grazed the rear sight of my gun, now dangerously close to falling down, but his hand didn’t shake. I too had glanced at the two holsters under his arms when he approached me, knowing he wouldn’t come unprotected. So had the two men sitting at the other end of the table, the spitting image of the man now walking to the other side of the room, sitting down at the head.
‘Thank you for coming, Billy,’ he started. There was hoarseness in his voice. It sounded tired, almost primitive. It was fitting for the man. ‘You’ll understand the secretive of the meeting,’ he looked almost relieved. But in his eyes, the ghost of fear was still present.
‘Of course, Richard,’ my smile was wide. One second. Two seconds. Three seconds. Shift to the right. Shift to the left. Nod at them both. ‘Believe me, you and your family couldn’t be in better hands. Anvil is the world’s leading agency for a reason,’ smile again. Nod.
Richard Alcaide’s frown dropped and turned into an all too well-rehearsed demeanor. We were both doing it.
‘And I thank you for it. Too many people have tried to come for my business before, but this…’ he paused. His index tapped the table, nervous, anxious. ‘This is different.’
I nodded, my face filled with a compassionate understanding I certainly didn’t feel. ‘The attacks were certainly too premeditated. I can pull a few strings, see what the FBI knows. I already have a few ideas about who’s behind the bombing, but it’s still essential that you remain in the city. Show that you’re not afraid.’
‘I am not afraid, Mr. Russo,’ Richard’s warning was hollow. He too knew he was alone.
‘Anvil will take care of everything. Our top agents are already securing the perimeter and this building. I will be supervising every operation under your watch, and even Mr. Castle here will ensure the protection of your family.’
One of the younger Alcaides laughed. The sight was wicked. His eyes were cruel, mocking.
‘This little guy over there?’ he pointed to Frank. He had been silent the entire ride, and his scowl had only gotten deeper the longer we waited for Richard to grace us with his presence, despite being the one to have called the meeting.
‘I can assure, Mr. Alcaide, that Mr. Castle is most capable of protecting everyone around him. Not only is he my best agent, but my closest friend too. There’s no one else I would trust with my life,’ I pressed my hand on his shoulder, a silent warning.
Calm down.
Fuck off.
I knew what his answer would be even without a single glance. Frank’s eyes were staring at Richard Alcaide hard. He hadn’t been too happy with his discreet cry for help, but even he couldn’t deny the important sum we would all get out of this.
I couldn’t care less about Richard Alcaide. All I cared about was his money. The city would certainly be better off without him and his puppets, but some other equally-stinking rat would soon rise to the top, only for the cycle to be repeated once again.
‘My entire family is at risk here, Mr. Russo. As you can understand, my top priority is them,’ Richard directed the attention back to him. Of course. ‘They have their own trusted guards for their protection.’
He didn’t like Frank. Only a few years ago, Frank had almost murdered him in his revenge, only for Homeland Security to show up seconds before he could pull the trigger. They had had some sort of truce these past months when I recruited Frank so he could bail prison. The Alcaides, despite knowing this, had reached out to me personally for help.
It’s not like he can go to the police, Frank had joked.
Half the city has tried to kill him at least once, I had added.
We had laughed immensely over it before accepting the offer, not without doubling the fee first.
Everybody in that room had every reason not to trust one another. But the danger was making the adrenaline pump hard and fast through my veins. Frank could deny it all he wanted, but he felt it too. The hunger, the thirst, the desire for action. War does that to you.
‘Is there anything we should now, Mr. Alcaide? As you can tell, I’d rather not send my men to certain death, if I can help it,’ I stared at him.
His enemies were many, and the search for the responsible for the latest crimes against him would be exhaustive. But no one could refuse Richard Alcaide. Not even me.
‘I know my name is well-known amongst the terrorists, but I have a hunch this is much more local. Probably a rival family. Maybe some unsatisfied customers. Fired ex-workers,’ he waved his hand around, pondering. But his fingers still shook, almost imperceptibly. ‘Power always comes at a price, Mr. Russo, and I’m willing to pay for it. But I need you to hold up your end of the deal.’
The three Alcaides had their gaze fixed on me. Their scrutiny did little to unnerve me. It wasn’t the first time I had made deals with the mafia, and I knew how to hold my ground. That’s what made me such a reliable customer.
I put my hands up in the air, my palms showing. I laughed softly. ‘An exchange’s an exchange. Now, let’s get down to business. Any idea where we could start?’
···
‘You sure about this?’ Frank asked once we were back at our office.
A couple of workers remained at their desks, their eyes dropping slightly as they stared at the screens before them. Frank followed me into my office, crossing his arms as he stared at me, waiting for an answer.
I shrugged my shoulders casually while I took off my jacket, dusting it off slightly and placing it delicately on the back of my chair.
‘We need the ammo,’ I answered, rather simply.
My body felt tired, despite having sat at my desk most of the day. I glanced at the clock on my desk, the time marking three in the early morning. The Alcaide way of doing business no one was to know.
‘But this is illegal,’ Frank protested. He didn’t move from his place.
‘I know.’
I didn’t know what else to say to him. I walked to the side, picked up two crystal-clear glasses, and filled them with scotch. I handed one to Frank, who took it with unsteady hands after looking down at it for a couple of seconds, debating whether to take it or not.
‘I hope you know what you’re doing with this, Billy. Something seems off,’ Frank downed his glass in one sitting. If the bitterness of the alcohol burned his throat, he didn’t show it.
‘Too calculated,’ I agreed. I took a small sip of my glass, looking at a fixed spot on the wall behind Frank.
‘Yeah.’
I know,’ I repeated with a smile. ‘I invented that. The small tremble of fingers. The shakiness of the voice. The rapid swallowing.’ I listed off the little quirks I had noticed about Richard. None of them existed before. And none of them were real, either.
‘Why are we doing this for, then?’ Frank asked once more, pouring himself another glass.
‘Because we also need the government on our side,’ I smirked.
‘We take the money and dip?’ Frank suddenly understood.
‘Imagine bringing down the Alcaide clan. We’ll be heroes,’ I took another sip. I enjoyed the burn. The fire in my stomach.
‘It’s a bit too late for that,’ Frank grinned in disbelief, downing his glass once more. ‘So, where to next?’
My smirk got wider, knowing Frank was in it for the ride. ‘Well, they mentioned a disinherited daughter… Maybe someone wants revenge on daddy,’ I joked.
Frank’s eyes widened. ‘I do remember some talk about that when I…’ he coughed. I nodded for him to continue. ‘Something to do with his wife’s death.’
His voice had gotten lower. It would forever remain a sensitive issue for him.
I drank the rest of my glass, setting it on the desk and retrieving my jacket. ‘Then we already know where to start.’

At The Dawn Of Our History
Tumblr media
Chapter title taken from here
An Inception AU
Pairing: Billy Russo x Ignis Redwood (OFC) Warnings: None Wordcount: 621 Summary: You never remember the beginning of a dream. So why do I remeber the beginning of this one?
Tumblr media
"What exactly do you want from me here mister Rawlins?" Ignis asked sharply as she stared down the man in front of her.
"Inception."
"That is impossible," she cut him off, "no one's ever been able to pull it off."
"Your file says otherwise miss Redwood," Rawlins answered calmly, hardly fazed by the exasparation of the woman in front of him.
"Of course it does, and if you could read, you would know I failed."
"Miss Redwood, you are here because you are good at what you do. I know you like to push the limits of what is possible, to find the true limits of the mind."
"That doesn't mean I can make Inception work."
"Perhaps not then, but I know that you have tried to make it work far more times than is officially on record. You are a woman of ambition and I like that about you. You don't give up after the first few setbacks and we all learn from our mistakes, don't we? Given your track record, I reckon you are a fast learner."
"Mister Rawlins I appreciate your praise, but I am afraid you are overestimating my abilities. Inception cannot be done, this is tried and true and I am willing to make peace with that fact. You cannot fake geniune inspiration."
Rawlins hummed in disbelief. "So you are completely willing to put the knowledge that you were so close achieving the impossible to bed? To never know if maybe, just maybe you could have done it?"
"Yes. Because I am not a fool... and I am wiser than Icarus will ever be."
"Ah, the boy who flew too close to the sun. I see... But there is no sun here is there, miss Redwood? There are only dreams."
"And people always conviniently forget that nightmares are dreams too."
She knew what he was doing, she'd used the same technique herself all too often, but she wouldn't fall for it. Her hubris had ruined enough lives already.
"Miss Redwood I can offer you double the funds of whatever comes knocking at your door next. Let's not lie to ourselves, we both know you will not stop trying until you have pulled it off, and I for one, will welcome you with open arms, should you decide to try again," he said as he put a check forward with a number which every normal person immediately would have taken. "See this as a compensation for your troubles so far. We can discuss further payment at a later date, should we go through with this."
"I don't care for money,"she said coldly as she made ready to get up, to leave the man offering her what he thought to be the chance of a lifetime. "And I certrainly don't care for the people that are trying to patronize me,"
"Then how would you like not having to look over your shoulder every minute of your life, afraid someone will put a bullet in your head and erase the progress you have made for the Extraction community? As we speak there are at least four men observing this building, waiting for the moment you leave, to get a shot at killing you."
His certainty took her aback. Surely he knew her file, that in her persuit for the dangerous and the impossible, she'd pissed off powerful people. People who had not hesitated to order a trigger be pulled on her. She had to admit it was getting exhausting. To never know if she were safe or not, to always have to double check her orders or look over her shoulder to see who exactly surrounded her.
With a resigning sigh she reached for the check.
"Who's the target?"
