She studied him as he slept, noticing that his glasses had slipped to be slightly crooked. His hair was its usual mess, making her want to comb her fingers through it. She studied him and for once, maybe because the knowledge that he'd carried her up to her room was still warming her heart or maybe simply because he was safely asleep and she didn't need to fear that her expression would reveal her thoughts, she didn't even try to deny her own reaction to looking at him. Didn't try not to acknowledge the way her heart fluttered, her breath became a little shallow, her skin heated. She didn't even try to deny that she wanted to kiss him, that she just wanted him…
He stirred and then blinked his eyes a few times before his gaze focused and met hers.

H/Hr Fic Recs
About a month ago (I think? and I’m sorry it’s been so long!), @sothinky and @redheadgleek asked me for Harry and Hermione fic recs. So, I am finally getting around to putting together a list.
Let me say that these links go everywhere. Portkey.org is now gone, very sadly, but a wonderful person archived most of it at portkey-archive.org, and a lot of these links go there. A couple of them go to AO3; a few of them go to FF.net. MUCH of the H/Hr fiction I read has never made it to AO3; it’s worse than Glee in that respect. So just realize that these recs are from three different sites and are therefore a bit haphazard.
The Truth About Love by Bingblot. Hermione Granger was his best friend-- until one snub, one hint of scandal changes everything-- and their simple friendship is complicated by marriage. AU Regency fic. I love a Regency AU! And this is one of the absolute best for this ship. :)
No Greater Love by Bingblot is also very good. Greater love hath no one than to give one's life for another... It was the power of love, the power of sacrifice... the power Voldemort knows not.
(Also, I really enjoy Bingblot’s writing of this pairing in general; if you search by author on portkey-archive.org you get something like 150 fics that she’s written, mostly completed. I don’t happen to know whether or not she’s still updating on FF.net; I do know that her stuff is not on AO3. She used to have an LJ; I don’t know if that’s still true. If anyone knows where to find her, I would love to know!)
A Marauder’s Plan by CatsAreCool. Alternate Universe based on prompt 'What if Sirius hadn't run away to somewhere sunny after escaping Hogwarts but stayed and tried to make Harry's wish of a home come true?' Sirius lives! It’s fun seeing him running the show, and there’s bonus Wolfstar.
Orange-Violet Blooms by Graziana. It's slower in coming certainly, but then all the best things are. Soulmate AU.
A Most Advantageous Match and A Scandal for Every Season by Amethyst. More Regency AU! Harry Potter must marry by his 18th birthday or risk losing his entire inheritance to his greedy relatives, the Dursleys. Who else could he turn to but his dear friend Hermione Granger?
That Old House by vanillaparchment. An old house sits at the end of a lane. Abandoned and forgotten, no one would have guessed who was going to buy it... or how full a life that old house was yet to live.

(I love everything apAidan writes for H/Hr; they are probably my favorite Harmony author. Just the right combination of humor, smarts, and poignancy.)
Shadow Walks by lorien829. In the five years since the Final Battle, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley have struggled to cope with the mysterious disappearance and apparent death of Hermione Granger. There are deeper and darker purposes at work than Harry yet realizes.
Soul Thief by Walter Sobchak/Barton Fink. 5 Years after defeating Voldemort, a simple error of judgment leads to catastrophe for Harry Potter. Hermione has to battle to reclaim her dearest friend and Harry must uncover the conspiracy that threatens them all in order to save a once bitter enemy.
Better Never Than Late by Witherwings01. 'They, who knew the steps I took, long ago, to guard myself against mortal death.' Lord Voldemort, 24th June, 1995. Voldemort's quest for immortality sets in motion a series of unintended consequences that even he could not have predicted. A 'what if' story set in year seven.
The Needs of the One by Witherwings01. Twelve years after the war and Hermione is still waiting for her happily ever after to begin as she cares for a mentally tortured Harry. She has a plan to save him but must choose between the needs of the many or the one. Timetravel with a twist. AU.

to the anon who asked if there's a 3x16/17 story after they're together. 'diving into it together' by bingblot is about them being together in season 3.. the last chapter is about 3x15 but I am pretty sure 3x16/17 will follow soon. it's a sequel to 'feels like home' where they get together in season 2... maybe it doesn't count because it's not technically about 3x16/17 yet but maybe it is by the time anon manages to read all the chapters ha ha
