I'm testing Glaze on an old sketch, and I wasn't mentally prepared for how Heavy Artillery™ this software is lol
The apps are multiple gigabytes and the libraries they use are gigabytes more. I'm running this test on its lowest, fastest setting but the ETA is still over an hour and my CPU is roaring.
Update: it works! Glazing took 45 minutes. Also tried shading, took another 25. I'm keeping these tools, but I don't think my poor PC would survive doing it regularly.

No. 36 - Riyadh Air
No, they are not changing their name to Saudi Arabian Airways, but there is a new development on the Saudi Arabian flag carrier front.
Tumblr media
That's right, Saudia is dead, sayonara you w-
No. That isn't true, that was a joke. But what isn't a joke is that Riyadh Air is a planned second flag carrier for Saudi Arabia.
Tumblr media
That's mostly a joke. Other countries have multiple flag carriers, though that comes with a couple caveats. Usually when this happens one is full-service and international while the other is domestic and/or low cost. The UAE has two flag carriers, but one is Dubai's and the other is Abu Dhabi's, which feels like an important distinction.
Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, just has decided they want to operate a second airline instead of doing the normal thing and putting all their resources into one really good airline. I don't understand it. The plan is to keep Saudia based in Jeddah while Riyadh Air is based in Riyadh...again, plenty of airlines have multiple hubs, so I don't see the point. They claim to be the first "digital-native airline", which is shaped like words yet means nothing (also, take that up with David Neeleman and Breeze). They've nabbed Etihad's old CEO and bought a bunch of 787s, and the stated goal is to become the largest carrier in the Gulf region at an unprecedented blistering pace in order to increase tourism. Given Emirates's numbers...well, it's probably still more likely to happen than a startup airline operating exclusively A380s managing to turn a profit, but that's not saying much.
Anyway, they've got a livery! Apparently this is the first of two, so expect a follow-up post when the second one drops, but for now there's plenty to talk about as is.
Unlike many - nay, most - of the subjects I cover, Riyadh Air has made me do absolutely zero research. You do get modern liveries like jetBlue and Lufthansa with little style guides to weakly attempt to back up their relatively mundane graphic design choices and things like condor and Icelandair's lovely little webpages, but Riyadh Air has done them all at least one if not several better by not only explaining in detail where they got their inspiration but also giving me a high-res 3D model of their airplane that I can rotate and zoom in and out on.
Take care; my computer is fairly underpowered and I do have an absurd number of tabs open most of the time, but this did crash my browser multiple times. Even just opening the main page of their website makes my CPU sound like it's spooling up for takeoff.
Okay. First I want to discuss the logo. They've got a video up on their thought process. I had transcribed it, but it looks better in motion, and thankfully they've stopped making it autoplay (presumably because, as I mentioned, this website absolutely guzzles processor as is) and in the process made it possible for me to simply left-click it off their website and into this post. Don't worry about it killing your browser. It's a normal video in a normal tumblr post without a 100 million dollar website chugging along in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I've taken some screenshots in case anyone does have trouble with the video.)
Now this is how you design a logo. The airplane window thing feels, in retrospect, so obvious I can't believe nobody had done it yet. I think it pairs gorgeously with the R, and I love that they chose to take inspiration from Arabic calligraphy, which is not only a massive point of pride for cultures which utilize the script but also just generally gorgeous. (It looks a bit like a stretched backwards hamza to me.) The shape of the bird's wing is the part I have the most trouble actually connecting to what I'm seeing, but sure, I'll give it to them. What the heck. This logo is nice.
I mentioned when discussing China Airlines that very few airlines use lavender as a primary color. Well, here's one that does! They actually discuss this on their website as well:
Inspired by the lavender blossoms that carpet Saudi Arabia, we've chosen this color because it symbolizes Saudi generosity and its authentic hospitality.
And this is, again, pretty fantastic. This is a thoughtful choice which isn't lazy or arbitrary. It has the potential to really pack a visual punch, and it does the thing I love when flag carriers do - references a feature of its home nation.
Tumblr media
An upside to the fact that the livery page takes eons for my computer to chew on is that I get shown this lovely loading screen, which demonstrates the fantastic combination of blues and purples which make up the full scheme of this airline's colors. I love the combination of these colors. Light saturated colors are rare enough, but to see extremely dark blues and purples together like this is a rare delight. It definitely has the potential to get eyestrainy, but if done well it could look absolutely breathtaking.
But will it be done well? After all, a good idea isn't always well-implemented - see condor - and China Airlines's livery fails for me because it's barely got any lavender! So does Riyadh Air fall into the same pit? Let's check the browser-destroying 3D model they've lovingly provided us.
I love that 3D model, by the way. Instead of looking for a bunch of pictures of airplanes that happen to be in the correct lighting and at the right angle to demonstrate the exact thing I'm attempting to discuss I can just...zoom in while putting the plane at the specific angle I want. Normally I actually try not to rely too heavily on things like style guides because a piece of flat-colored concept art isn't actually going to communicate how a plane looks in motion and with light on it, but this is a really really robust model. Sure, it's not quite as maneuverable as I'd like it to be, it's still not a perfect representation of real life, but it's really well made. It even sways side to side a bit and if you zoom in close enough you can see they bothered to model the external sensors and the engines are even turning! Don't worry about the fact that if you zoom in even further you can tell the engines are just a fan suspended floating in a cowling. They even added ambient engine sounds. This model is so cool it legitimately took me several minutes of turning it around and muttering "wow..." under my breath before I realized the environment it was sitting in was just some very stretched and crunchy jpgs.
Tumblr media
Mmm, those reflections.
To be honest, I also just enjoyed playing with this thing. It's almost like having a real model plane, but doesn't cost more money than I have! But enough of that.
Tumblr media
So they definitely didn't chicken out when it came to the lavender. This plane is as purple as a Breeze Airways plane is blue (it is very purple). It's not just a purple tube, though. Even from a distance you can see that there's added detail here.
I love the wordmark, first off. They've really committed to the billboard look with this gigantic text in both English and Arabic. I love it. With such an overwhelming main body color it feels prudent to make sure the name is as visible as possible so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
Tumblr media
And with this gigantic, recognizable logo plastered on the bottom you'd be able to identify it just as well from below (and this is zoomed out as far as the website let me!). In fact, the depth of the design really shines best from below. That's not necessarily a good thing, because your plane does have to be parked sometimes, but it's not a dealbreaker either. I just need to say that this is probably my favorite design for an engine nacelle, ever. It's gorgeous, and you can see in the first picture how well it flows into the main design. They don't go together quite as well from the bottom, and from below the plane does look a bit rear-heavy and the wordmark peering in is a bit awkward, but none of those ruin it. I would be stunned if I saw this fly overhead.
The website provides a few details about the design if you zoom in and click little black dots. It took me ages to realize this. It's neither intuitive nor accessible and I truly despise it, so I've taken the liberty of transcribing the bits that matter.
Tumblr media
You can turn this plane in any which way you'd like, zoom in and out, and the details on the bottom never stop being beautiful and coherent. It truly does remind me of calligraphy. As they describe it:
Rooted in our Heritage The controlled, smooth linear profiles make up our signature "Canopy Twist". A perfect balance of our rich local culture and our modern global outlook, connecting the city of Riyadh to the world.
I love the name 'Canopy Twist', to be honest. And I love the design, too. My one criticism of it is the colors. They already have an established secondary shade of purple. That they used the text color for the highlights makes sense, but why couldn't they have used their lavender instead of a third shade of purple? In the quantity used for the underside it feels disconnected from the rest of the livery and they could have fixed that very easily by just...using their already existing secondary shade of purple? I think it would make for a very nice bridge to the tail as well, and it just feels like a colossal missed opportunity.
Tumblr media
You may have noticed that the bulk of the fuselage body is a color a bit darker than what might conventionally be considered 'lavender'. This, too, is noted.
Indigo Livery Inspired by the ever-changing colors that paint the sky from dusk till dawn. A symbol of tranquility, harmony and integrity.
(This color is obviously purple, not indigo, but I will not belabor that point.)
I love the description, the idea of the transition between dusk and dawn. Much like the window as a basis for a logo, this makes me go "why in the world has nobody thought of that before? That's brilliant!"
Tumblr media
It makes me think a bit more could have been done in the details. Maybe the canopy twist could be a gradient, like the gradient of the sky while the sun is rising? Just a thought.
Tumblr media
And ultimately it's the canopy twist that is my only real sticking point with this livery. It is beautiful and unique and well-designed and it is simply a color that sticks out like a sore thumb. It's the only warm thing creeping into a design otherwise full of beautiful cool tones, it has gorgeous flow within itself but breaks up the feeling of consistency through the airframe as a whole, and I just...I really wish it were lavender.
Tumblr media
If that's my main issue you can do a lot worse. And overall I do like the Riyadh Air livery. If that one detail was changed, this would easily be an A. This review would be all but uncritical. Except for the fact that it could use a bit of canopy twist up top, too (maybe just a tiny bit on the top of the nose, flowing in the same direction) in order to make the plane feel less rear-heavy (though it already beats out the vast majority of liveries in that sense), the issue with the color is my only big criticism. But it's the main detail of the design, isn't it?
It's wild. So much of the time my reviews are "good details, bad when you step back". But this is the opposite. Fantastic, but there's that one detail that sticks with you. And the details by and large are far from bad too. I mentioned the nacelles, and I think it very elegantly transitions the tail into the body. It would be more elegant if the design on the body was the same lavender, though!
Tumblr media
A few more nitpicks: the centering of the logo on the tailfin is a little strange, the tail would look better if it had a bit of a gradient to make it less matte-seeming, and the combined effect of those is very luxury-hotel-towel-monogram. Okay. I'm done complaining.
Tumblr media
So it falls short of being one of the best I've ever reviewed, but I still really, really like it. The calligraphy inspiration creates these elegant sweeping lines that are perfectly at home on the 787. The deep purple looks luxurious despite the fact that Riyadh Air doesn't plan to offer first class. It's eyecatching. It's stylish.
And, now that I've covered all this, let's look at the colors in person! That's right, they've already had a plane delivered in full Riyadh Air colors.
Tumblr media
The deep purple with the lighter canopy twist, combined with the tiny white dots of the various probes and such, make this plane look like an animal camouflaging itself against the night sky in a place untouched by light pollution. The light lavender contrasts sharply in this particular image, sharply enough that it feels like a slice cut out of the plane.
Tumblr media
This continues to be an issue from other angles and in other lightings, but the cool-toned light makes this purple look like true indigo and the blueish cast improves the look, giving an almost fluorescent appearance to the transition between the twist and the tail. The way the light reflects off the dark paint makes it look rippling and shifting and alive in a way it never could off white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In shadow, the plane looks as dark as a city sky. In light, the vibrant purple of a fresh eggplant. This paint job adapts wonderfully to its environment. Much like Vietnam Airlines's, each light brings out a unique beauty.
Tumblr media
And sometimes, the tail, detached though it may look, does so in the way a shining arm of a spiral galaxy neatly transitions into the black expanse around it.
Tumblr media
Riyadh Air's planes range from ultraviolet to supervoid, but they are never lost in their environment. The principles behind the design remain consistent, and beautiful, and alone in a sky full of planes which refuse to embrace the dark skies they fly in on red-eye journeys.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, I think Riyadh Air's livery feels a bit overdesigned. They added one color too many, and a few decisions feel like they don't belong together in the same picture. Just think about the amount of colors here, the balance of major features, and think about Vietnam Airlines, and you'll see what I mean. I'm not a fan of minimalism, but sometimes the only way to keep a story straight is to minimize loose ends. A secret becomes exponentially more likely to be exposed with each new person who learns it.
But before I looked closer, before I zoomed in and out on a little 3D model while my computer screamed, I saw this livery for the first time and my jaw hit the floor. And the average person isn't going to think about this the way I do. Ultimately, my critical eye is usually something I defer to, but I can't argue with the fact that this livery is going to be to someone else what China Airlines is to me. And, like China Airlines, when they come back and look closer at it they'll notice it wasn't as perfect as they thought, but...we've come so far, if this is someone's China Airlines. And as much as I nitpick at details the package counts, too. If you asked me why China Airlines got a C- instead of a D+, my honest reason would be...it struck me enough that I singled it out to begin with, even though that started to fall apart when I looked closer.
Tumblr media
Why am I giving Riyadh Air an A- instead of a B+? Because this plane will stun people 5,000 feet below it, and they'll think to themselves that it's the prettiest plane they've ever seen.

MC still doesn't know how to hack
Shadow: We need to hack this. If you can handle hacking this file I can handle the rest.
MC: Uh huh, sure. No problem.
*Switches Chats*
MC: Jake why do hackers keep thinking I can hack stuff?
Jake: I did make a simple system for you. Does it work for the file?
MC: Yes! Thank you! Once again you are the best!
Jake: :)
Shadow: Ok you hack one tower I'll do the other two.
MC: Uh. Yeah got it.
*Switches Chats*
MC: Jake does your program make it possible to hack towers?
Jake: No. That's a bit out of the scope of the program. Give me a moment.
MC: Ok.
Jake: *Minutes later* Done. The tower is hacked for you.
MC: Love you!
Jake: :)
Wolfe: Alright. You hack the one tower I got the rest.
*Switches Chats*
MC: Jake I swear they overthink my abilities again.
Jake: Already done.
MC: You're amazing. Thank you!
Jake: :)
Wolfe: Keep up this work and I'll just have to hire you.
*Switches Chats*
MC: Hey Jake I got you a job offer!
Jake: I'll pass.
MC: It'd be funny though if I took him up on his offer only for him to figure out I have no idea what a CPU was.
Jake: I can explain if you'd like.
MC: Maybe after the killer bird man is caught.

In Which The Actual CPU Has A 'Shower' Scene (due to popular demand )
It had happened gradually, drop by drop, and then all at once.
Some humans have a tendency to ignore everything that is wrong inside of them - discomfort, odd pangs of pain, etc - when entrenched in their interests. Fivemind was very similar. It had had its 'eyes' and 'ears' focused on anything but its own CPU - its units, the security cameras outside the base, and communications with the little bird that had them on speed dial.
It was only when this storm hit that the presence of a mysterious leakage was made known in the form of the seemingly sudden appearance of ankle deep water. By the time the AI had gotten its units to pinpoint and seal the leakage, the room that Fivemind's primary terminal was in was knee deep in water. Which...would not sound bad on paper but in reality the machine was bogged down with system notification after notification that it's insides were wet.
A leak directly above the terminal had decided to make itself known, dripping dirty water onto its screen and -worst of all- onto the little vinyl figures that it kept on top of its terminal.
It was all so soggy.
Even now with the water drained out, the floor mopped, and the leaks sealed, it was still soggy. The closest thing to a physical body that Fivemind had burned to the touch after all that multitasking in such a sub-optimal situation.
Now all was quiet. The only sounds in the room were the squelch of a sponge and a mop, and the whirring of cooling fans.
Rivulets of soapy water dripped down over its screen as its blue ranger dutifully sponges down the primary terminal. At least the vinyl figures were cleaned first. Fivemind barely cared if soap got through the cracks in its screen, half of the monitor was barely functional anyways and it wasn't like anyone looked at it. Hadn't been the case in decades and will continue to not be so.
Maybe now at least it'll be cleaner than ever, sequestered away in a room no one will ever see.

everything past 'keep reading' is ooc!
Otto, along with the other robots in his cpu, are medibots. Formed by the assembly lines that were once owned by Gray Mann, something from within caused him to gain the ability to feel, to think, to love, to become sentient.
Shortly after his 'awakening', he learned that they weren't the only one. So many more robots were alive, just like he was, and some have even been around for longer than they have! They were just the first to make themself known.
Tumblr media
Otto is mentally around 14 years of age, and goes by he/him and they/them. He is the host.
Udo is the same age as Otto, and goes by exclusively they/them. They are the current co-host.
Oswald ranges from around 6 to 10 years, and goes by mostly they/them while occasionally using she/her.
Florian is one of the oldest of the system, being around 15-16. They generally enjoy taking a caretaker role for the system and others, and goes by he/him and they/them.
Klaus has the hottest temper out of anyone in the system, generally taking over when someone else gets angry enough, and exploding at whatever's gotten them riled up. Generally goes by only he/him.

The Promises I’m Making (2024)
Sheesh, this year it was even harder than last year to make promises. In particular, I really wanted to focus on promises that wouldn't cost as much money as in prior years, so I tried to steer clear of too many promises that would cost above the basic spending amounts... But it turns out it is really hard to make resolutions if you're broke. 😂
So here's what I'm going with:
2024 Promises
1) Step down from my administrative position and return to being a full-time faculty member. I literally cannot take the clown show that is admin at my work anymore. It is actually killing me.
2) Related to this, redecorate my new office as soon as they decide where they are going to move me.
3) Apply for new jobs!! APPLY FOR NEW JOBS!!!
4) Train my replacement in the chair position well so they are super prepared to take over in fall.
5) Put a new sink/vanity in the downstairs bathroom of the Utah house.
6) Get both bedroom floors sanded in the Utah house upstairs.
7) Finally get rid of the dirt pile in front of the Utah house.
8) Take down the remains of the wooden fence posts at the Utah house.
9) Fully clean out and prepare the Utah house to be rented out to new renters. Hopefully the next people won’t sneak in a parrot that poops all over the floor… RIP…
10) Clean off my back patio/car port area so I can park my car there again.
11) Call the plumber and replace the faucets. Even if I end up having to do it myself.
12) Get the dead tree removed from the Texas house yard and call the internet company to see about the cable around the tree root.
13) Plant roses where the old ones died in front of the Texas house.
14) Replace my CPU fan; the bearings are going out and it’s making an annoying noise.
15) Organize my documents (especially student papers)—my desktop and documents folders give me nightmares just looking at them.
16) Related to that, lose at least 20 pounds. 2020-2023 was not kind to me and the stress eating was real.
17) Do at least one artwork to actually use that paint program I bought.
18) Pay my credit debt down by at least $2000. I’m still paying off the hell year, but I hope I can make progress on this.
19) Buy all the Noragami volumes I am missing and do a complete re-read of Noragami now that the series is finishing up.
20) This is super nerdy, but my bro got me the FFXIV cookbook and made me promise to actually use it, so I guess I’d better at least try to make something from it.
21) Finish at least five books this year.
22) Update HaaH at least once. Please, Echo???
23) Reach the new level cap with all jobs in FFXIV!
24) Go to the graduation ceremony for my family friend.
25) Catch up with hanging up all the charms/pins I’ve gotten recently on my corkboards; these are just sitting in boxes/bags around the house. D;
26) Fully deep clean and vacuum/detail my own car at home. No more of the “It doesn’t make sense to clean it out now; the dog is just going to go back in it.” The dog is always going to go back in it. Clean it, Echo.
27) Help my parents tear out the carpet in my old childhood bedroom.
28) See at least three new species of birds. Doesn’t matter where, just three new ones!
29) Reach 3500 followers. Can I do it? You should follow me if you’re not already; I’m pretty cool. Just sayin’!
30) Cancel all the subscriptions I don’t need. There’s literally no reason to sit around letting companies passively profit off me when I don’t even really use the services/the services keep getting worse while the costs keep going up.
31) Go out on at least a day trip to take pictures with my friend. We haven’t done this in quite some time. I need to touch grass.
32) Repair the lovely one-of-kind ceramic plate that my dog broke with kintsugi. I want to try it at least once!
33) Really look hard for my passport in my house. It’s been missing for like a year and a half now, and I don’t want to have to pay for a new one.
34) Put all the small prints, postcards, and stickers I have collected in my new mini-print books. I can even use up washi tape to decorate too. (Finally, a purpose for the washi tape…)
35) Shred the million pieces of old mail I have lying around the house. I finally got the shredder so it just makes sense to use it.
36) Have more follow-through with chores. It’s not enough to wash the clothes or do the dishes if I then procrastinate on folding the clean laundry and putting the dried dishes back in the cabinets…
37) Put reminders for birthdays and major events in my phone as well as set a monthly reminder to check these promises. Maybe I’ll be able to keep more promises if I look at the list more often throughout the year!
38) Since I can’t afford to go to the salon, spa, etc. too much this year, I should at least do some self-care days at home. Will this be the year I finally manage to use all the fancy scrubs and face masks and bath salts I keep getting from people?
39) Use up one whole notebook. It doesn’t matter what goes in the notebook, but I gotta use the whole thing from cover to cover. I have so many pretty notebooks that never get used just because they’re pretty.
40) Change the burned-out lightbulbs in the recessed lighting in the Texas house ceiling. It’s like twelve feet high and the lightbulb charger stick I bought didn’t work, so I’m going to have to find someone with a ladder. Save me, handyman. Save me.
41) Build the pretty koi paper lantern my brother got me, or the Korean temple model my coworker gave me after his trip to Korea.
42) Actually use the yoga mat I bought forever ago. At least a few times, please???
43) Finish watching the Fruits Basket remake with Kacchan. I think we stopped in the second season, RIP.
44) Spend more time with coworkers—go out to lunch more often.
45) See about removing the PMI from at least one of my house loans to try to save money. I’ve been paying on these loans long enough I shouldn’t need PMI anymore.
46) Practice my German skills (or I guess other language skills?) by translating something at least once a month.
47) Get a new bookshelf. The current ones in both my office and foyer are already overflowing. @_@
48) Make more time to call people and talk on the phone. Texting is not the same. D;

(Part 2 of everyone getting a Pokémon partner for the Holidays!)
Ana: A Rookiedee with a sky blue bow! This tiny birds Boi has a lot of promise and the sharpest eyes, it will be quite the adventure training him!
Sombra: For you, a Rotom with a set of appliances that it can posses! Rotom are just as talented with hacking as you are, Sombra!
Moira: A Ditto! This genetic blobs of purple slime are practically impossible to understand but fun to have around, just like you are, Moira! Merry Christmas!
Reaper: For you, A Greavard with a black bowtie! This spooky good boi can suck the vitality from anything it stand close to, he also loves playing fetch. Merry Christmas, Reaper!
Doomfist: Behold, Machop! These Pokémon train since they day they were born, they practically live for getting stronger! They’re also the perfect workout partners!
Ramattra: This is Magearna, she is an artificial Pokémon who was created by humans 500 years ago, the only one of her kind. She is a gentle, curious soul who wants nothing more than to be friends with everyone, Pokèmon, humans and maybe even Omnics. Happy Holidays Ramattra and believe me when I say that Magearna will help you see humans in a new light.
Sojourn: An Eevee with a maple leaf themed scarf! Dependable, adaptable, loyal, friendly and a fast learner. No matter which path you take, Eevee will always stay by your side and grow alongside you. Merry Christmas, Sojourn!
Kiriko: What better a Pokémon to be your partner than a Fox? More specifically, a six tailed, red furred fox like Vulpix! It maybe a fire type, but many mysteries surround Vulpix and it’s evolution Ninetails. It’s loyal, graceful and powerful! (P.S. Don’t touch it’s tails unless you want to be mega cursed.)
Lucio: A Lotad with a big love for music! This Pokémon and it’s evolutions love to dance and have fun, at all a party with the Lotad line is a great one! They love dancing so much that Ludicolo (Lotad’s final evolution) dances without music 24/7 and is overjoyed doing so! I couldn’t think of a better Pokémon that matches your energy, Lucio! Merry Christmas!
D.Va: Oricorio, more specifically, Cheer form Oricorio! With a pep in their step, an electric personality and a desire to cheer for their friends, Cheer form Oricorio is the perfect hypemon to have by your side in your hardest of times! But don’t mistake their support to be their only specialty, because Oricorio are masters of Dance, and that includes Dance Fighting! Merry Christmas, D.Va!
(Part 3 coming soon!)
Ana: Another one? Well, I'm sure I can just about squeeze one more in.
Sombra: hmm… I owe you one for this. Consider your dirty secrets safe, Hannah. For now.
Moira: Practically impossible to understand, you say? I'm sure I'll have it solved within the month, one way or another. Then again, perhaps it would be wise to keep them in working order for now. If only as their abilities seem… useful.
Reaper: Hmm… I don't have time for a dog. Then again, they work well with my asthetics. A grim reaper and his loyal hound… They can stay.
Doomfist: At last, someone who understands that which is important. I could do with sparing with someone who has more self respect than Mauga.
Mauga: Hey!
Ramattra: You believe that giving me a pile of gears who grovels at the feet of humans is wise? Truly believing that you can melt the cold CPU of this Omnic Grinch? I will take her, of course. If only to keep her away from the likes of all of you, and help her see the true colors of the world!
Sojourn: Hey! Ya hear that, Murphy? You've got a play mate! Maybe now, I can get some peace.
Kiriko: Well, I already have a flying type fox, so it's good to have type balance! Also, I was already sold, but the curses? That's a nice touch.
Lucio: Damn, I think you've found the only thing in the universe with a bigger love for dance than me! I dig it man! I wanna be just like them!
D.Va: Perfect! I've always wanted a channel mascott! The fans (and I) will love them! Oh, and I can even dress them in cute outfits, and they can come with me to conventions! I have so many ideas! Maybe we could cosplay as Bastion and Ganymede!

A bird in a fishcage | Viewpoint 1 - The Aviary
Restored Archive - 28/02/2024 - 12:30
Name : Colibri Biographic Memoirs - File N°194
Author : Cirrus
Archive's Date - 06/2020
“Cirrus, can you hear me? Is the connection working?”
“Yep, everything is working great over here Colibri, are you ready?”
“Of course I’m ready, we’ve been planning this one for months now, it’s going to finally be a big hit!”
“Okay, but be careful, we can’t let you be spotted yet, we need to stay undercover for now.”
“… Don’t worry about that, I’ve got everything under control”
“So the coast is clear?”
“Yes, no one here to see!”
“Then prepare to glide down, I’m ready for some action!”
London was quiet for once, the never-ending chatter that the city was usually filled with was no more since the lockdown, and since the night had fallen, no one was outside anymore, no one except Colibri.
She was perched atop one of the towers from the Tower Bridge, ready to glide down, while Colibri was no stranger to it, she had never done such a big heist before, where she was mostly content with taking back unregistered artifact from private collections, so they could be studied by specialists instead of being exposed in the living rooms of some Billionaire, she didn’t risk much, because you couldn’t say you were stolen something that wasn’t registered.
But today, she wasn’t stealing an unregistered artifact, she had to make an impact to find more allies, to make a name for herself, and what better way to get known across the globe than was stealing one of the Crown’s jewels?
Colibri had a target, she would get one of the central diamonds, a rare jewel stolen from India when it was still a colony, so she could give it back to the Indian Treasury, with just enough evidence for the world to know she existed.
“Are you making your move or not?” impatiently said the voice in her earpiece, “Time’s Ticking down!”
“Oh, I’m making one Cirus,” answered Colibri before jumping off the tower she was perched on, “and this one is going to leave a mark.”
“It’s 22 O’Clock! Enter now!” screamed cirrus as he was mashing buttons on his keyboards, one of his eyes always locked on the surveillance system the other trying a way to divert the power back to the entrance without activating an alarm.
“Go left, and after that it’s left again!” he said, the buzz of an overworked CPU almost covering his voice.
“Got it, still no movement on the cameras?”
“We’re all clear, the guards are still two levels above you.”
“Uh, Cirrus?” Colibri paused for a bit, “You said left right?”
“Yes, What’s the problem?”
“There’s no door to the left.”
“Oh for god sake!” Cirrus exasperatedly shouted after a loud paper sound covered the transmission, he knew the plan he found was obsolete, small renovations had been made two weeks before, but didn’t think it would cause a problem. “You need to find a way to go left!”
“Why? Are the jewels supposed to be th–?” The sounds of footsteps could be heard coming from the left, stopping Colibri in her chat as she muttered in her earpiece “Cirrus! You said no one was at my level!”
“Nobody is supposed to be here! I have no visuals on anyone at your level!” Colibri was looking around as she heard Cirrus’ keyboard before his voice came back, “You need to go above, whoever is here doesn’t want to be seen as well!”
Colibri had little time left, and the hallway she was in had only one way out, and that’s where the footsteps came from, she had to delve deeper into the unlit corridor, but every door she tried to open were either locked or led to closets and empty rooms, until she came across something else, “I have an idea Cirrus, but I’m not sure you’ll like it.”
“Well I don’t really care right now, you need to get to the level above, as quick as you can!”
“Could you open the elevator’s doors then?”
“That’s such a bad idea…” Cirrus audibly sighed, he knew this was probably the only choice, but it would be a risky play, “I could, but we won’t have time to wait for the elevator to come at your level.”
“I have wings, remember?” responded Colibri in a taunting voice.
“But an elevator shaft? You really think that’s a good idea?”
“We don’t have time, someone is on this level and really doesn’t want to be seen!”
Cirrus sighed again, before going back to mashing his keyboard, “I can’t redirect the current without activating an alarm, but I can invert it’s polarity!”
“And what does that mean?”
“It means that as soon as the doors are open you need to hit the fire alarm, on the right of the elevator and enter the shaft immediately, it’s going to stop the alarm but also close the doors!”
In a flicker, the light that where previously off all turned on in some sort of wave toward the elevator, lighting the hallway letting the silhouettes of two persons, way too colorful to be guards, appear before the light turned back off. The fire alarm blared as soon as the power got to it and immediately after the door opened, Colibri shot the red button on the wall with her bracelet-like taser, giving her just enough time to jump in the empty shaft, the elevator being stuck two stories lower.
Without another choice, Colibri sprung two massive wings from her back, covered in pure white and gray feathers, as if they where ones of a dove, before hitting themselves on the sides of the way-too-small-for-flying-straight-up funnel, forcing colibri to partially close her wings, so she could at least break her fall on glide down, the sounds of banging on the metal doors pressing her to find a way out, quickly.
