Some of you may know that I have two little parrots who I loveee. I’ve had them for nearly three years. I wanted to give them the best care possible so I did as much research I possibly could. Somehow my bedroom is now a birdroom😭. Currently, I am following a course to become a diplomated parrot behaviorist! I never thought I’d end up on this path but I love it regardless😩

Are you doing the birdroom Reno you guys all by yourself? I mean... You're screwing, painting, scratching walls and all that stuff! I mean , unless you somehow have experience in tinkering it's difficult isn't it? How did you gain that kind of experience? (Sorry if I'm not using proper eng words to describe it, it's not mother language)
Yep entirely by ourselves!
Jack had renovated her townhouse back in BC so she’s got experience in that regard, her grandfather built his whole house and passed along a lot of that knowledge to her.
I have no prior construction experience so I just Google what I need answers to or ask Jack 😂
Most of what we did to the room is just surface stuff so it’s not quite as complex and precise as building actual structural elements of a house. Lots more room for error and the capacity to learn from trial and error really.

Was a perfect Sunday morning, in the midst of beautiful scenery and sweet views from the room terrace at our bed and breakfast. New room and cage! The renovations in my room at my parents’ place are finally done! No more drywall dust and paint fumes means that we can all go home. We have a brand new cage for the budgies, a window perch, and a cargo net for everyone to enjoy once we set up toys and more perches. I’ll finally have proper lighting for my bad photography 😂 Despite being born in this room I doubt Lily will recognize anything but the view. Bell has never had a window before, I can’t wait to see how much she likes it. I'm still bitter about this so who wants to hear about my dream?
the answer is everyone so here you are
I was in the bathroom playing games with a tennis ball (?) (not doing anything that you would normally do in a bathroom) and at some point I noticed Pierre sitting on my bathtub (and treated it like it was the most normal thing in the world to have race winners materialize out of thin air in your bathroom) and he gently took my hands and guided them to be like they would if I was helping him train for boxing and then he kissed them (🥺🥺) and then we were in my bedroom and he was feeding me strawberries (?) and then he kissed me and I was about melting at this point and then I went and woke up

I actually live in a house with FOUR cats and still have a bird we just don't let them in the birdroom (aka bedroom). But I presume you do let your cats in and/or want your cats in whatever room the hypothetical bird would be? Orr that you have super insistent cats that would try to get into hypothetical bird room?? But if not then idk fam get a bird.
BOTH OF THOSE LAST THINGS ACTUALLY
also just because i’d have nowhere to put said birdy except my bedroom which.... dash sleeps and cuddles with me on my bed every night so there’s no way i could keep him out lol (plus it would make me sad to make my room suddenly forbidden to him and also this cat knows how to open closed doors. he’s too smart and also too big so he’s tall enough to turn door handles)
ONE DAY MAYBE... one day... perhaps when i move and get a bigger place..... i can get birb

I have sad news.
Yesterday, Lina our Serama Bantam was killed by a raptor. We only found her feathers outside the coop so it seems she flew out of the enclosure again and couldn’t get back inside in time. It’s super sad especially since she was doing better health wise. But there is nothing we can do about it now. We constantly strive to improve the fences and enclosures we have for the chickens and the last attack was a while ago, so we thought it‘s finally enough. But there’s always room to improve.
Lina was a special case, too. Our bantams are crazy good flyers so almost no fence would be enough to keep them inside. That’s no excuse for what happened to her but usually we keep a close eye on them while they free range. We will build another shelter for them and hang up the sun protection. Hopefully that will be enough for now.
Her flock and especially Bruno were super distraught this morning. He probably warned her and tried to protect her but couldn’t get to her. I told him it wasn’t his fault. All of them are more alert and quiet today. She leaves a big hole.
To make things worse, Connie the budgie is gone. I made a mistake which cost her life and I will forever beat myself up about it. She flew away because I left a door open and my mom scared her. She then flew out of the birdroom into my room were the window was open and immediately outside into a tall tree. We tried to get her to fly down by putting her cage and the other budgies outside aswell. But she just stayed up there for a few hours and contact called the others until she disappeared. She also was taken by a predator which is so sad. I didn’t do her justice.
But on the bright side it seems like we will soon have our own place so everything will be easier and at one place. The amazons and chickens are at Franzi’s place at the moment and the budgies are at my place where we live. It‘s only a five minute drive from here to there but it’s stupid anyway. Once we have our own place, everybody will have a nice and safe space with new equipment.

Ok, guys. Let's talk shit! You've all seen it. Splattered white streaks on buildings, statues, windshields. Disgusting, corrosive, filth, with damage to the structure clearly visible when ever it's cleaned away. It pocks metal, pits stone, and eats paint. Pigeon shit is just inherantly acidic, right? Look at the photos of my birdroom before vacuuming. That's 48 hours worth of poo from 15 free flying young birds. Don't see much splatter there, do you. Pigeons fed a healthy diet of grain, seed, and legumes in a sufficient quantity to sate them have small, compact poos that are generally dark, firm, and of mid range ph. The brown part is comprised of digested plant matter. The white is urate. So why is it so nasty in cities and parks? Because pigeons are strict seed eaters and there is not much in the way of access to good grain based feed for city pigeons. Garbage is a lot easier to find and better than nothing, but very little of it can they actually digest, and the severity of their perpetual malnutrition shows in their sloppy poo. All that white with so little brown... entirely concentrated uric acid, with hardly a trace of digested food matter.
