I figured I’d finally draw the outfits Luke has for his various occupations over the years in the How Things Change Au.

From his early 20s to his early 30s, he takes after his adoptive mother and becomes a police inspector. He garners quite the reputation too, solving unique cases like he used to with the Professor. But this time, he’s solving cases with his adventurous assistant Lucille Layton and his number one apprentice Hershel Bronev by his side.

Then Targent happens, he’s captured while Leon and Rachel escape with their kids and gets taken to whoever their base was. None of his years there were particularly good, but his first few were the worst. As an inspector he’d been working against Targent and not only that, but he let the archeologist they were after escape and they wanted to make him regret that. At the start, the only one who had his back was a reluctant follower of Targent by the name of Raymond.

Then the group he’d acquired manage to escape, but not without casualties on both sides. Emmy, who was only a child at the time, lost her mother, leaving her an orphan. Targent lost their leader (and a few buildings). They were on the run for a while but when things settled down to a somewhat normal, Luke used the training he’d gotten in Targent to get a medical degree at Gressenheller University. While there he ends up befriending a certain quartet of younger students.

god i have so many ideas about Professor Layton and I can’t even begin to draw them all nor do I know how I would even visually get my whole idea across but consider.

what if Descole did get captured by Targent at the end of Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy starts out with Layton helping out Grosky investigate a series of missing Archeologists, among which is of course Desmond. (there’s a whole ramble in the tags oops)

#professor layton #descole #theres more to this but thats the gist of it #the idea being that layton stumbles accross targentis/Targent by himself (and emmy and luke) early on in the game #he finds out that one of the missing archeologists is implied to be Descole by some targent agents or something #whom the group manages to free in order to get back out of targentis and also for info on targent #emmy stops them though and reveals her status as targent agent right then and there #they manage to escape regardless and layton talks descole into helping them out w targent/maybe descole suggests it like in canon??? idk #and thats about where the plot of tye normap azran legacy with aurora and all kicks in #the idea being that suddenly someone they trusted (emmy) becomes a villain #and someone they don’t trust becomes the only one they can trust (descole being the only one safely cleared of not being a targent agent) #emmy is very relucant aboyt all this and shes obviously shown to not be happy about what shes doing #ITS ALSO REVEALED HALFWAY THROUGH THAT DESCOLE IS BRONEV’S SON but NOT that layton is his brother!! #i think that wouldve made that reveal more interesting and spaced out #since desmond can talk about how he had a sibling and then refuse to elsborate bc he doesnt wanna tell layton #and the red herring being that you think its emmy bc she considers bronev her dad #aaaaa #also the angst of desmond being forced to work for targent in between miracle mask and azran legacy
