When her grandmother had schemed to get her sent to the King in the North as opposed to Renly she hadn't dreamed that the relationship would have evolved like it had. She wouldn't change it though. A smile on her lips as she looked up at him. "Oh? Do you just like the way I look so should I just stay like this or are you looking for something else your majesty?"

ya ever think about how the lannister sibs all have big secrets kept from each other, like huge life-altering experiences? jaime's is the most obvious, the most talked-about, with the full story of his kingslaying and everything he endured from aerys leading up to it. it's clear enough to me that brienne was the first he opened up to about that, including either sibling. they never asked, but unlike ned stark and the rest deriding him as kingslayer, their lack of curiosity is no offense in itself bc as tywin's other children they would never judge him for turning his cloak purely out of family loyalty. ned's assumption of jaime's motives is directly tied to his judgment of jaime, but it's the judgment that rankles jaime so. choosing your father's life over a king's is hardly the worst crime in itself. how can he explain all the other reasons without prompting when its not just about his crime but all his trauma too? is there any basis for that in his relationship with cersei, who always relied on him for comfort and consolation but seems less adept at providing the same to him? or even with tyrion, his only real male friend for years, but also his baby brother, the one he was meant to protect and take care of, who was only 10 at the time of the kingslaying? even to fully share all with tyrion years later, both adults, could be something of a role reversal, forever shattering tyrion's image of him as the strong invulnerable golden big brother by revealing his own broken inner child. jaime can't break out from those sibling roles and patterns, so neither can ever understand that part of him, never knowing the early life he had at court without either of them with him.
and tyrion, who trusted jaime more than anyone in the world before learning the truth about tysha, still could not confide in him freely even when all that trust was still intact. jaime must have heard some story of what tywin did to tysha to feel the need to confess his lie, but he def didn't hear it straight from tyrion bc imo there's no way he could still think confessing would help anything if he understood how scarred tyrion was by what he witnessed and esp not knowing that tywin ordered him to participate at the end. tyrion could reveal all that to bronn when they barely knew each other but not to his beloved brother, his first and best friend. how can the most abused child explain all his unknown abuse to the golden child, the big brother meant to protect him who couldn't always do so? how does he even begin to reveal the deepest trauma that happened to him when jaime wasn't in the room, esp when the story does start with jaime apparently trying to help him by fixing him up with tysha?
and then there's cersei and all her secrets. she always turned to jaime for consolation, or at least when he knew she needed it, but how many times did he not know? how personally could she confide in him as they grew older and their paths diverged? we know the first big secret was maggy the frog's prophecy, her first big scare, which came on the cusp of puberty, an experience she couldn't share with her twin bc he would prob just laugh and make a joke of it. in their first real scene together, in bran's pov, he mocks lysa's motherly fears and likens her to cersei. ("I think birthing does something to your minds. You are all mad." He laughed.) then he makes light of her marital discord, ("And whose fault is that, sweet sister?"), having no idea of the depth of pain she'd suffered from robert, beyond his infidelities. he later blames her for being robert's queen, not his, only thinking of how she managed to arrange his kg post, that power to forever tie him to her in secret, never grasping her lack of control in marriage, that "a queen is only a woman after all". in her pride it was hard to reveal all she'd suffered as a woman, but she also couldn't rely on jaime's response if he knew of her abuse, knowing he would kill robert and get himself killed too, only making her and their children's lives more precarious. she couldn't trust him to listen about securing the throne before dealing with robert or that as robert's victim it was her right to decide such matters, to choose his fate, not jaime's place to avenge her without her say-so first. all bc they were both too stuck in their idea of jaime as her sword, nothing more, with jaime determined to protect her and tyrion, always a bodyguard before he ever donned a white cloak.
something something tywin did his best to play his children off each other and the most effective thing he did to divide them was by setting jaime up as the golden child and family protector. the designated lannister sword only pointing at threats outside their house. a knight serving his family whose protection was always limited, who could never protect them from the person who first hurt cersei and tyrion and made them who they were at a distance from him, bc ofc he couldn't fight his own father, much less slay him with a sword.
something something maybe the reason that joff+marg+loras was a surer recipe for kingslayer stew than robert+cersei+jaime is all down to that tyrell lack of abusive structure. not that loras cared more about marg, was more willing to kill for her than jaime was to kill robert, but that there wasn't a chance of marg hiding her misery from him if/when her husband abused her in their shared household. it's not like he understood her to the point of mind-reading but when their previous royal marital household involved her bearding for his boyfriend then they prob had a pretty good basis of open communication. in that sense, the lannicest twins with all their sexual and physical intimacy still had less emotional intimacy than the tyrell queen and her kg brother.

“Be careful, I don’t want you to choke.” - robb @ Margarey
Tumblr media
✿ Dark irises of the Tyrell heiress slightly widened from the caring but dominant words from the young lord. Her gaze shifted from the jewel covered goblet that was resting in her gentle grip. Swallowing hard all of a sudden made the heiress almost choke on the divine wine she'd been gulping down a little to fast. The young lord was right, if Margarey went on at this rate, she'd end up drunk off her arse, and choking from just how fast she was gulping down the wine. This dominant side of the young lord made the lady's cheeks become just a little bit dark shade of pink than what they already were thanks to the wine.
"I. . . I -- Um, I do apologize my l -- lord." Margy placed the lovely jewel covered goblet on the table in front of her. Now trying to avoid eye contact with the young lord.
"How un-lady like of me. . ." She trailed off, those words weren't meant to be spoke aloud. Those were supposed to be inner thoughts.

Fragrances I think Margaery Tyrell would wear…
Tumblr media
Delina by Parfums De Marly
Tumblr media
Ok, so I have three rose perfumes on this list for Margaery, because A: She’s a classy lady and what is more the embodiment of class than a rose? B: I love roses. C: House Tyrell’s sigil is literally a rose, D: I love roses. I don’t think we need any more reasons than that. So let’s move on, this perfume house, I mean there's a reason parfums de marly has boomed in popularity as much as it has, their fragrance collections, from the bottles down to the juice, are just the embodiment of beauty and class. So there are exactly three perfumes in this Delina line. Delina, Delina Exclusif, and Delina La Rosée, they are all rose focused perfumes, rose is the main character in all of them but the original has the most florals in the notes so i decided to go with the original Delina since Margaery gives me the vibe of being a floral lover. I can see her also wearing the flankers of this depending on her mood, but I picked the original to be her main since there's more of a floral party happening in the notes. So house tyrell of high garden, rules over a region in southwestern westeros which is noted to be highly fertile land and highly populated. So this has me thinking Margeary would adore perfumes that are floral or give a vibe of spring. Spring is a fertile season and everything is in bloom, so she would have a preference for scents that smell elegant and lush. I have only seen the television series and in almost every scene she was present, the weather or vibe was never cold and harsh so i can’t see her wearing something rich or cloying like a gourmand for example. Her choice or taste in perfumes would lean very floral, if i can imagine her smelling like anything it would definitely be flowers. Another interesting fact is that Delina is a popular choice for many brides, it’s a popular wedding scent and our girl margaery gets married three times, if my memory serves me correctly. I think this would be her pick for her second wedding to Joffrey. It’s light, it’s feminine, it’s sweet, it’s unassuming and that’s exactly how Margaery wants to come off to the Lannisters. She doesn’t want to step on any toes. She wants to be subtle and calculating with every move she makes, and this perfume is perfect for that because it is non threatening. It’s just feminine and demure and that’s exactly how this woman wants to be seen, or rather needs to be seen if she’s going to play the game. So now we arrive at the notes, the top notes greet you with a juicy burst of lychee, rhubarb and bergamot they give it a sweetness, and a sharpness there's a spicy kick from the nutmeg so the opening is quite lively then it settles in the middle with the florals, we have Turkish rose, peony and petalia which are delicate almost powdery florals all wrapped in vanilla and musk this combination is light and creamy. The middle notes, especially with that rose being the main character here, give this perfume it’s notorious feminine elegance, which I think are qualities Margaery highly embodies. Now we get to the base notes where this perfume gets very fascinating, we have vetiver which is known to be a masculine leaning note, this grants this fragrance an assertiveness despite it starting off as quite demure, tell me the way these notes are layered on top of each other isn’t representative of margaery's mask and how we are slowly unravelling the mastermind beneath the doe eyes. Beside the vetiver we have cedar, incense, and cashmeran. They give this perfume such depth and margaery isn’t just a pretty face, she has depth and she’s making big moves to secure her place on the throne. This fragrance remains to be one of my favourites to this day because of its feminine complexity, and I think it is so Margaery. This perfume has bright girly and sweet notes at the top and middle which is the image she so very well wants to be known for, the impression she wants to make on others, the deeper notes at the bottom I think are reflective of her scheming side, and also represent how she felt around Joffrey. Definitely a wise choice wedding scent for the purple wedding.
À La Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Tumblr media
Alright, so for the second choice I went with something extravagant but not as complicated in the notes as our first choice. This perfume is gorgeous and is one of my favourites from this house. Another rose based perfume, as evident in the name but this one feels more simple than Delina. I feel this would be Margaery’s choice for her third wedding to Tommen. He was sweet to her and she felt safer with him, so she would go for a simple fragrance that is honest and doesn’t have all these complex layers to hide behind. I know I keep calling this perfume simple, but trust me that is not a bad thing. It is one of my favourites and if you are a rose lover like myself, you would indulge in this too. Again, it’s very lush and I think this perfume is best suited to warmer weather and like the price of the bottle, it smells expensive. It is said that the perfumer behind this fragrance, Francis Kurkdijan, said that each bottle is made up of 250 centifolia roses, and 150 damasca roses. So if this isn’t a rose explosion in a bottle, I don't know what is. And what is more fitting for house Tyrell? We have bergamot and california orange greeting you at the top, the bulgarian and grasse rose notes taking centre stage in the middle accompanied by other light florals such as violet and magnolia, and everything is enveloped in sensual musk and cedar giving this fragrance the clean, effortless and classy femininity it’s so known for. She would definitely wear this to her second wedding and it would be more obvious that she’s feeling more relaxed and happy because this perfume does just that, brings your mind to a safe space and makes you feel beautiful and feminine. I definitely associate this perfume with positive memories and feelings and i am sure it would do the same for Margaery.
Atomic Rose by Initio Parfums Privés
Tumblr media
Now we’re taking a more darker elegant tone with rose. This perfume is an ambery rose, and definitely what I would class as a deeper rose compared to the first two perfumes. Where the first two have a youthful elegance, this one is more sensual and deeper. This perfume has intense projection and lasts you forever. This is a sophisticated fragrance and it is the most assertive on this list, hence the name atomic. It really encapsulates the beauty and danger that is House tyrell. Because every rose has thorns, and this perfume is just that with it’s projection. I feel this would be a perfume Margaery would spray on to feel powerful. Top notes include, pink pepper, hedione and bergamot and the opening has a kick to it, the middle notes are soft florals, bulgarian rose, turkish rose and egyptian jasmine and the base notes offer it it’s warmth with vanilla and amber. Definitely a “Don’t mess with me.” kind of perfume and something as thorny as this is fit for a lady trying to secure her place on the throne.
Fox In The Flowerbed by Imaginary Authors
Tumblr media
We’re taking an unexpected turn now. This is now a change from the rose focused perfumes on this list, however I have kept it true and consistent with this still being a floral. I have decided on this one after debating the many other directions I could have gone in because it reads very Margaery to me. Imaginary Authors is a cruelty free brand that takes their inspiration from stories and authors, hence the name. If you are a book lover or you want something cruelty free, I recommend giving this brand a try, they have many unique perfumes and all of them have an interesting story to tell. Margaery is a clever and well read or well informed lady, and we need a perfume that is as clever as she is. So my choice was this. Foxes are quite stereotypically known to be sly, and clever and they are basically the living breathing form of “working smarter and not harder”. Being the cunning beauty that she is, if this perfume isn’t Margaery, I don't really know what is. The fact that it’s called “Fox in the flowerbed” is almost alluding to hiding behind an innocent mask of sorts, in this case the flowerbed being the mask and the fox being the wearer. Kind of like the “Wolf in sheep’s clothing” idiom. I also like how the bottle is this baby blue and looks very happy and bright. We often use colour to portray character and mood, especially in media. The villain often sporting darker colour palettes in opposition to the hero etc. Margaery’s signature colour is a light blue or some shade of a green which not only match the branding of the house of Tyrell, but also these colours are non threatening, which you would want to appear as, especially when manipulating the shit out of a house as domineering and powerful as house Lannister. Which brings me to the scent and the notes, this perfume is very airy. The juice smells just as “innocent” as the bottle looks. I’d describe it as a bright dirty perfume. Happy and bright yet very earthy in quality. The Jasmine gives it this dirty edge but not in an unpleasant way, more of in a natural way. The honey and pink pepper notes really sweeten and brighten this fragrance. There are also very green notes, thistle being one of them and the tulip which is a floral that leans quite green and fresh when compared to other flowers. We also have a frankincense note in here, it adds a sort of mystery to it (I love me a good Olibanum note.) especially when in contrast to the unique mountain air note in here that provides to it a crisp freshness. This perfume is both bright and calm. Can I describe a perfume as ambiverted? Haha, it’s strange because it has the perfect balance of bright and serene notes. It can calm you and uplift you. This is for the girl who wants to be perceived as innocent but can play dirty, and I think this description is Margaery to a T. This fragrance isn’t heavy or overwhelming at all, don’t let that jasmine note fool you. It is actually very light and can be an everyday fragrance. It’s airy and floral, I'd describe it as earthy air in a bottle. Very refreshing and pleasant.
🌸 As always if you want to see more fragrance match ups for characters you love or for yourself, hit me with an ask! 🌸

taking it out completely would change the entire course of the whole series, but i am taking out cersei’s continual interest in incest. after being away from jaime when he’s captured by the stark army, cersei has time to think about her actions and what they have or could cost her and her family, and realizes that the only reason she was interested in jaime in that way is because he was the only person she trusted. she has since learned to separate trust and romance/lust. she still tests her new perspective with her cousin, lancel, but is disgusted with herself afterward not only because of the incest, but her true sexuality.
cersei has always been told that what is expected of her is to marry a highborn lord, prince, or king and have his children, and therefore she put all of her efforts into achieving that. however, from as early as her preteen years, cersei has had a vested interest in other women in a romantic way. she was in love with her childhood best friend for a very long time until she was sent off to marry robert baratheon, and her friend was also sent away from lannisport to marry a lord. cersei has since bed whores from time to time, without anyone knowing except her siblings. she is not romantically or sexually attracted to men at all, she only forces herself to act like it in order to keep up appearances.
instead of being promised to loras, cersei is promised to margaery and loras’s cousin tobias tyrell. when the tyrells come to king’s landing, cersei immediately tries to bed tobias to secure her spot at his side, but he – like her – is gay and does not adhere to her advances. tobias instead catches the attention of her brother niklaus, while tobias’s sister desdemona catches cersei’s attention. cersei and desdemona become close in a matter of a few weeks, and are consistently sleeping together in secret. tobias, tyrion, margaery and niklaus are the only ones that know about cersei and desdemona.
desdemona is betrothed to niklaus while tobias is betrothed to cersei. niklaus also attempts to bed his betrothed when the tyrells arrive in king’s landing, and he succeeds only once until tobias catches his attention. a few weeks later, desdemona is pregnant and yet still unmarried, as klaus refuses to marry her. cersei devises multiple plans for the baby, all of which include her taking it for her own and saying it belongs to tobias. when desdemona starts showing, cersei keeps her locked away in the red keep as well as herself for the duration of the pregnancy. she pays or threatens the castle guard and staff to keep it quiet, and by the time the child is born, ravens are sent out to congratulate cersei and tobias on a secret wedding that never happened, and a new baby.
cersei and desdemona name the baby girl liliyana, and while she is technically niklaus’s child and cersei allows him to know her, she fully views herself and desdemona as lily’s parents. when niklaus flees king’s landing with tobias and hope to join tyrion in essos, he does not dare attempt to take lily with him. cersei would kill him.
in relation to her imprisonment and public shaming by the church, it is still canon that lancel is the one that outs their night together, but he also outs her relationship with desdemona. cersei offers herself to the church in exchange for keeping desdemona’s life and title safe. desdemona’s reputation is not harmed and she is able to stay in the red keep, but cersei is still imprisoned in the church for a time and only returns to the red keep by her walk of shame through king’s landing.
when cersei takes the iron throne after tommen’s death, she names desdemona her hand of the queen and liliyana as her heir. by this point, desdemona has had another child (through jaime) that cersei claims as theirs. she is named joanna lannister ii.
as far as season 8 goes, jaime still comes back to help cersei escape with her life (because he believes daenerys will kill her), but only as her brother; this is the last time she sees jaime, niklaus, and tyrion for several years. she and desdemona are banished from westeros with lily and joanna, and they go to essos to live out their lives together. after around 7-8 years, daenerys grants cersei and desdemona pardon and they return to westeros to live in the red keep as family of daenerys's court.

rhaenyra targaryen/alicent hightower. actual otp idc they rot my brain with the kind of intensity i haven't felt since i was twelve years old. kinda wish i could actually pronounce their shipname though every time i try and say it i just land on "renaissance"
willow rosenberg/tara maclay. they are in fact the intensity that rotted my brain when i was twelve years old
cassandra/andromache (yes that would be the trojan prophetess and her "archetype of the dutiful woman" sister-in-law). i am the only person who ships this, i only ship them because of a throwaway line from a middlegrade retelling of cassandra's shit life about her being vaguely annoyed by andromache and i have thought about them every day for the past four years. i am absolutely in the wrong for this and i have no desire to be right.
cersei lannister/margaery tyrell. i have not watched got in years, but this was a lane i was willing to die on when i was 13, and i was in rarepair HELL. in many ways i like to think of them as foreshadowing the rhaenicent truthing we're seeing now, and i like to think of all the rhaenicent content as my positive karma for my unwavering devotion to my silly silly adolescent ship
Last song: "missus piano" by rio romeo!
Currently reading: very offensive of you to assume i can read smh. uhh last book i finished was king lear.
i currently have just about 30 books i need to read for my degree, including a chapter called "criticism and attachment in the neoliberal university" by mir ali hosseini, (which is a very disheartening essay about the crisis in the practice of humanities/literary studies at a university level. the prose is engaging but it's not one of these critical essays that has artistic value in its own right (think "the death of the author", "visual pleasure and narrative cinema", "the laugh of the medusa", eve kosofsky sedgwick, &c) and frankly it does not make enough of a contribution to literary discourse to warrant reading for anyone outside of The Academy (tm))
Last movie: the princess and the frog :D

Texto disponível no meu blog:
Bom, vamos ao blá-blá-blá:
Tumblr media
-Cersei, AFFC.
--Sansa I, ASOS
Ele a queria e a teria.

“I cannot speak for others, but you have friends in house Tyrell and in me, if you would like. I promise you will never be truly alone as long as I draw breath” Margaery offered her friend a soft smile as she took her arm, hoping to cheer her up from such gloomy thoughts. She did not like anyone to be sad in her presence-- least of all one she counted as a friend.

What’s your fav GOT storyline/era/quote everyone had on their FB status for a year?
lmaoooo i can tell you my least favorite quote was "I drink and I know things." it just diminished Tyrion's character imo and the fact that Peter Dinklage said that with a straight face is why he won so many Emmy's. I think my favorite storyline though was the death/resurrection of Jon Snow. Maybe more because of the "no he's not coming back! he's dead!" insistence HBO/D&D/Kit/the entire fucking cast had to give us for like a fucking year despite the fact that he was heavily used in promo leading up to season six and we all saw the leaked photos. It was a Time(TM) here on t u m b l r d o t c o m - like truly we all went a little feral I think - it was beautiful. Season six of GoT still feels like a fever dream to me, especially since season five was mostly a garbage fire (Hardhome is a notable exception) and while I don't hate or massively disagree with the ending (except Bran as king???)
