i hate when someone will voice a very valid complaint about the misogynoir present in hotd and how it sidelines baela and rhaena only to follow it with “baela and rhaena should have been angry at rhaenyra for stealing driftmark from them!” um, no, these were never feelings they had towards rhaenyra in the books and it tells me you don’t actually care about them as characters, you simply want tools to make Rhaenyra look bad.

It’s so paper thin, especially when these posts fanatasize about Baela and Rhaena hating Rhaenyra for stealing their birthright and not Corlys. You know, the one who named Luke as his heir? Or how about Laenor, the one who never wavered on the assertion that they were trueborn? You are not complaining about their personalities that were erased, their hobbies, their likes and dislikes, even their bland and uninspiring styling, just that they aren’t a mouthpiece for your anti Rhaenyra opinions. You don’t care about them as characters in their own right which makes you just as bad the writers who sidelined them in the first place. Sorry 🤷‍♀️

Cole's fans forget that he is a grown man Bullying children aged 6 to 8 who arrive to be ironic because they are the same people complaining about the bully that Aemond is like saying only the green ones can suffer at the hands of the evil black people

but yeah, it’s hilarious how there will be thousands of words of meta of how traumatized aemond is because he was “bullied” by Luke & Jace, but evidently Luke & Jace themselves were never affected by their bullying at the hands of a grown adult. (And I’ve already written about the misdirected anger over Aemond’s bullying here)

Not just a grown adult, but their teacher. A Kingsguard, men who are supposed to honorable knights who are looked up to as examples of chivalry and honor throughout the realm. How confusing it must have been for two little boys to have been maligned by someone they probably looked up to, someone they wanted approval from. There was not just the psychological aspect of the favoritism that hurt them, but a physical one, where Cole sics Aegon, an older, bigger, and stronger teen against Jace, a child who is barely able to defend himself.

And why is the bullying of Luke and Jace never brought up? Well, because they are well adjusted when they grow up, because Rhaenyra was a great mother, one who allowed them to grow up emotionally mature. They never bring up their mistreatment at Cole’s hands, because they have moved on. In fact, Jace is able to tactfully bring it up during his toast without having a meltdown, saying he has “fond memories of their childhood.” He’s trying to be diplomatic (as befits an heir to the Iron Throne). Meanwhile Aemond loses it at Luke merely smiling at a roast pig because he hasn’t had a healthy family unit around him to help him process his childhood feelings. He then attacks their legitimacy, something that unlike the pig, actually threatens their life.

Aemond flips out at a mere reminder of the pig but Jace and Luke don’t freak out at the mention of Cole. This gives the fandom some kind of odd confirmation bias, where they come to the conclusion that Aemond’s treatment was worse because his reaction was worse; really, Luke and Jace had it much worse because they were mistreated by an authority figure and not peers, but their trauma is minimized because they were able to actually cope with it.

The "RHAENYRA IS SO SPOILED AND ENTITLED!!!!" argument is the worst take on her character and is so exhausting. She was a damned Princess and Heir to the throne, of course, she was spoiled. If she's such a spoiled brat, what makes the rest of Westeros's privileged nobles? Also, Queen Alicent used her own power and privilege to act out and abuse Rhaenyra. Aegon got away with literal assault and had his crimes covered up by people who indulged him, Aemond whined that he took his lessons seriously and read philosophy but acted like an impertinent little toad, blaming everyone but himself for his own misfortunes and using Vhagar to act out like an overgrown toddler with a gun. Who's the real spoiled one here?
