- because of this, some people not technically named as admins are included here, but functionally they're all either admins or some other form of second-in-command

Hell yeah!!! You KNOW i have so many thoughts about him. Ask game here! I'm still up for answering more :3

1-My first impression of them

I've known about him for ages since he is the main antagonist of one of the games but I never really thought about him all that much until PLA and Cyllene. I love Cyllene and I found the parallels and differences between the two of them very interesting but I just straight up didn't like Cyrus. I thought his whole plan made no sense and I thought team Galactic's theming was silly (and still do but it's silly affectionate rather than silly derogatory). Here's an image I made from my Cyrus hater era:

I do stand by it though Cyllene is just objectively cooler she can swordfight. Get on it blue boy.

2- When I think I truly started to like them

I remember exactly when and why. I'd come to think about him more just as his own character but he wasn't a blorbo, just a vaguely interesting guy I put in unpleasant situations. I found him disappearing into the distortion world and never being seen again fun since woah local antagonist meets a fate worse than death. I still didn't like him all that much or understand him though. Until I was poking around and found the stuff from the platinum manga, Cyrus bleeding from the eyes and dead on the floor and cradling shaymin and stuff and I was like holy shit. this is cool. there's way more to this guy than I thought (helps that the distortion world fucked him up and me and Ren Giratinaplushie love to put a guy in the distortion world). And from there I decided to go have a look at RR cyrus and "Had I met you sooner... Would things have been different for me...?" as well as his interactions with the Rotom Dex hit me like a fucking truck and the rest is history.

13- Your favorite friendship they have

His friendship with the Commanders is very important to me. It's one sided because. Well he's Cyrus. But I like to think he cares for them more than he thinks he does, and doesn't even realise it. I mean three guys who care about this depressed assshole loner so much they would end the world for him? Come on. He's got FRIENDS dammit. Also him and Sophocles in masters is real important to me. He sees himself in Sophocles and Sophocles is so desperate to help him and AUGH........ Sophocles is very much what Cyrus could've been.

15- Worst storyline they had

His anime plotline. Next question. (phrased so as to be amusing)

20- A weird headcanon

hm, I don't know if this is 'weird' but I like to think that he just kind of has a natural affinity for Rotom. Like they see him and just. wander right over and cozy up on his shoulder and he has no idea why. They love him for no real reason. I like to think of Rotom in the pokemon world as Lazarus taxa (since they're in PLA but presented as a recent discovery in Platinum), and Cyrus the one to rediscover them as a child and that's how he did it. Such a rare and elusive pokemon just wandering right up to him possessing one of his toys.

26-When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?

Hmm... Difficult question. I think that in terms of like. meta characterisation he's pretty consistent (barring anime cyrus but we don't talk about that), but in terms of like in universe, i do think that a lot of his public facing facade is an act. He's not personable, he's good with speeches because its pre-prepared and he presents a deliberately constructed face to his people. I guess in that vein when he's being most 'himself' would probably be when he gets pissed off and rants at you on top of Mt. Coronet, and in Masters when he's speaking with Sophocles about machines and stuff. Admittedly for totally different reasons but yeah.

MR. MISTOFFELEES AND RUM TUM TUGGER PROPAGANDA! [ For @catboy-showdown ] ✨️

I didn't expect to have the energy to make very good propaganda, but considering how sucked into it I've gotten, I was thankfully wrong!

⚠️ Warning for a long post with gifs and FLASHING LIGHTS below the cut! ⚠️

Let's start with Mr. Misteffelees, since he's already up for votes!

His song and the poem it gets its lyrics from are SO much fun. Like, the way they adapt the traits of a cat into this distinct magician character is so good.

The poem treats him like a masterful magician and illusionist for being sneaky, for moving about and moving things about without notice.

"He is quiet, he is small, he is black / from the ears to the tip of his tail / he can creep through the narrowest crack / he can walk on the narrowest rail"

"He can play any trick with a cork / Or a spoon and a bit of fish paste / If you look for a knife or a fork / And you think it was merely misplaced / You have seen it one moment / And then it is gone / But you find it next week / Lying out on the lawn"

These are the attributes of a quiet, nimble, and all-around skillful little cat! But the poem takes these traits and compares them to that of a magician, which is then expanded on in the musical. Mistoffelees uses his abilities to rescue the Jellicle Cats' leader, Old Deuteronomy, after he is kidnapped by the villainous Macavity.

Aid from Mr. Mistoffelees is suggested by Rum Tum Tugger, who's quite popular amongst cats. He's a bit of a rockstar, a flirt with a big ego and a flamboyant persona, with the female cats fawning over him during his song.

Tugger is another great example of a cat of a cat! The poem is about a troublesome, indecisive cat who always wants the exact thing he doesn't have, then wants the other thing once he's got that. Who likes to cause trouble just for fun.

The musical uses these traits to personify him as an immature, prideful cat who loves to show off and get attention, living it up in the moment and having FUN! He's curious, he's indecisive, he is who he is, and nothing can be done about it!

"If you set me on a mouse then I only want a rat / If you set me on a rat then I'd rather chase a mouse / The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat / And there isn't any need for me to shout it / For he will do as he do do / And there's no doing anything abou-a-wow-t it / The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast / My disobliging ways are a matter of habit"

"If you offer me cream, then I sniff and sneer / For I only like what I find for myself / So you'll catch me in it right up to my ears / If you put it away on the larder shelf"

"The Rum Tum Tugger, doesn't care for a cuddle / But I'll leap upon your lap in the middle of your sewing / For there's nothing I enjoy like a horrible muddle"

Now I'd like to finish setting the stage (hah) for his support of Mistoffelees. In some productions, such as the 1998 film of the show, another cat named Quaxo remarks that Tugger is "a terrible bore." He is the only cat in the number to notably NOT sing Tugger's praises. Quaxo, in certain productions, Quaxo IS Mr. Mistoffelees! Mr. Mistoffelees is his stage persona.

This makes Tugger's suggestion to seek his help all the more interesting, as not only has Mistoffelees called him a bore, but the song Mr. Mistoffelees, Tugger leads the cats in singing Mr. Mistoffelees's praises. The only other cat who Tugger praises through solo portions of a song, aside from himself, is Old Deuteronomy, who all of the cats think highly of (though Tugger's solo in that song highlights a softer side to him that really gets me when I listen to it)

Due to Rum Tum Tugger's praise for Mistoffelees and other aspects of their dynamic, many fans of the show interpret the two of their dynamic as being very gay. The giant rainbow fabric circling around Tugger in the 1998 film highlights this so beautifully.

I believe this is something some actors who have played them have acknowledged and embraced, or at least one of them. I don't remember where I found a quote about that, so take this part with a grain of salt.

So yeah! That's my propaganda for two gay cats from Cats the Musical! This musical holds a very special place in my heart, as it's the musical that got me into musical theatre! I remember being little and being absolutely mesmerized by the show, and Tugger and Mistoffelees's numbers were big highlights even then. Skimbleshanks the Railway cat was another, and it's my father's favorite number, so I plan to create propaganda for him too if I have the time and energy!

I doubt these three will make it far given who they're up against, but if I can get even one person to give Cats a chance (even if you don't end up liking it), I'll take it!!

(P.S.: If you've only seen the 2019 versions of these numbers, I HIGHLY suggest the 1998 versions! They're far better from what I've seen, especially Mr. Mistoffelees. But PLEASE be warned that there's a lot of flashing lights!)

NORDIC BUNNY YOU DAMAGED LITTLE FREAK WHAT IS YOUR DEAL 😭😭😭🤘🔥 omfg okay so i'm gonna give some background after digging for a bit for the uninitiated who will read this...the above clip is of the villain Nordic Bunny from the unreleased 2010s Disney pilot Shred Force!!! it was created by Matt Maiellaro, co-creator of Adult Swim shows like Perfect Hair Forever and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. which you can really feel - it's giving severe Venture Bros. and Kick Buttowski vibes, and it feels like Metalocalypse for kids!!! 🙈💖

the animation is astonishingly gorgeous, especially for a pilot...my brain can't work out how they've done it!! reminds me of the movements from Storm Hawks 🤩 oh, and that marvellous voice work from the iconic Dana Snyder (Gazpacho from Chowder) as Nordic Bunny...and is that Danny Cooksey (Jack Spicer from Xiaolin Showdown) as Hank?! this kicks so much ass i am HERE for it 😭😭😭 and you're so right, we were robbed. everything is so fun in this pilot but the stand-out is that mental design for Nordic Bunny. what is he?!?! a sentient catboy guitar?!?! is he wearing lipstick and underpants on the outside of his...armour? or is that his body? the TAIL?!?! PLEASE!!! and oh my god he's so pathetic and whiny and crazy. i want an entire season of this right now just to see the deranged exploits he gets up to 😂 dude thank you so much for sending this pilot my way - i can see it's popped off severely on Twitter over the last day or so!!! all that lovely fanart 🥰 and the producer/director Matt Danner has been giving a lot of amazing background information on the show!!! who knows, maybe Disney would be willing to give it another shot...👀
