CHIKURIMON:
A Digimon that lurks underwater or under the shade of rocks, it doesn't move around very much while it waits quietly in one place. Although it has a habit of attacking those that come near, it is never belligerent and won't attack those that stay away from it. Because it proliferates abnormally when the temperature exceeds 30°C, Chikurimon can often be seen thickly crowded into lakes or around rocks with the coming of summer, and Digimon that come to drink water are often attacked.

Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 35: The Glowing Angewomon (Review)
Thoughts on the thirty-fifth episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.
For an episode about Hikari and Angewomon, there was a bit too much Taichi and Agumon . . . but I guess that makes sense, seeing as the entire series is one big advertisement for everyone’s “favourite” one-dimensional character.
LMAO what a cheat! The kids and their Digimon can talk and breathe underwater because MarineAngemon “shared” this power with them. Wow. OK. Are they forever immune from drowning now? I’d steal MarineAngemon and have her spread her “magic” over the other kids, too. :P
Takeru and Patamon are still so cute. *SQUISH* I just need Yamato to be with them . . . :(
It was really nice of Toei to let Sora be observant with the fact that the bigger the body, the bigger the target for Chikurimon to attack. Thanks for throwing my girl a bone. It’s better than nothing, I guess?
Tailmon’s inner turmoil is nice and deep, but also just a tad too heavy? It seems like an emo dump. Perhaps spreading her emotions out over several episodes would be better.
So Tailmon confirms explicitly that she was SkullKnightmon / DarkKnightmon. Cool. It still would’ve been better to “confirm” it during the act a few episodes ago. :P
Can I just say that Komondomon’s whine is really annoying? :P
MarineDevimon looked awesome. But . . . that’s it. He just looked cool. But he just stood there, waited patiently as Hikari and Tailmon bonded to overcome her darkness . . . and then died. Toei, strike another good decision off your list! :P
Tailmon being “saved” by Hikari was the highlight of the episode - and it should be, as it’s Angewomon’s episode. XD; I found it really touching - and Hikari actually came off as really cute, instead of creepy. That’s progress!
Angewomon was nice, I guess. What else can I say about a half-naked woman in a kids’ show? :P
. . . And the episode ends with Koushirou being a buzzkill with his ISS drama. This still bores me. :P
I guess this was an OK episode? But I only really liked Tailmon and Hikari’s “chat” before Angewomon’s evolution. I don’t have much to say about this episode. XD;
But the Digimon Encyclopedia in this week’s episode showed a silhouette of a Digimon that might be considered a spoiler, so warning ahead: SPOILER! I’m going to be speculating about things based on this spoiler, so . . .
SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
Next week’s Digimon Encyclopedia is BlitzGreymon. Does this mean we’re going to get him next week? And Taichi gets two Mega evolutions before the other kids even get one? LOL. But it’s a definite possibility. The preview showed Koushirou, and the episode title does not indicate Koushirou’s Mega evolution or BlitzGreymon . . . but the fact that he’s next week’s entry for the Digimon Encyclopedia has me raising my eyebrow. So maybe?
If we do get BlitzGreymon next week, are we going to get CresGarurumon soon? But he has to happen after MetalGarurumon, right? Sora wasn’t in the episode preview at all, so maybe she flew off to search for Yamato, Mimi and Jou? And the episodes can be split between two groups again, and Yamato finally gets some focus back with two Mega evolutions?
And, then, the other kids and their Megas can finally happen after that.
PURE SPECULATION. I don’t read spoilers. :P
But this possibility has me more hyped than the last several episodes of The Taichi Show featuring Hikari. XD;

Digimon Adventure 2020, episode 22 reaction (and over-analysis)
Of all the things that could happen, I did not expect Yamato to get less intense when Takeru was around and in constant danger.
The episode was full of great fights and some great characterization for Gabumon. The problem is that the emotional core of it all is Takeru, and he simply doesn’t work for me here. It’s one thing to be brave, it’s another thing to actually run in the direction of the dude that’s trying to kill you until you’re literally climbing him (and for some reason this dude doesn’t try to kill you while you’re literally standing on his weapon). Later on he tells his brother that seeing him and the digimon fighting to save Tokyo inspired him to be brave, but this falls flat because not only have we never seen him not be brave, but this is the very first episode where he behaves like an actual character (instead of “sad little boy to motivate Yamato”, or cryptic psychic Deus-ex-Machina from last episode), and it feels like way too soon for such an scene to be adequate. His psychic connection to the Holy Digimon is better executed here than last episode, at least, since he actually addresses it.
It sort of feels like they’re leaning very hard on Takeru-as-audience-surrogate. He’s fearless because that’s what kids watching this would want to think they’d be like, and he states he’s inspired by Yamato’s group and the digimon because that’s presumably the effect the showmakers want to make on their audience. He has no recollection of anything that happened between the feather appearing on his apartment and Yamato waking him up, because of course nothing would have happened to him that the audience didn’t see.
Yamato himself is... weird. Much like last episode, he seems very calm about Takeru being in the line of danger now, which, after 19 episodes where his main motivation was preventing even the slightest chance of Takeru being in danger (to the point there had to be character development for him to worry about anything else), feels very out-of-character. The moment he tells Takeru that he would have done anything to keep him away from it all if he had been able to is pretty sweet, though.
Outside of all of that, though, the episode is very good. SkullKnightmon’s fight with Greymon and Garurumon is excellent, among the best fights in the franchise, as he proceeds to both overpower and outskill the two main digimon, always with another trick up his sleeve. It loses a bit of steam after his evolution, but even then it’s still top tier for this show, with the protagonists trying everything in an attempt to defeat him, only managing to buy some time (but that’s enough). Speaking of our villains, both of them are pretty good here, with Devimon’s cryptic words taking a more personal edge when he refers to Poyomon as his old friend, to which he offers a kind of salvation, and SkullKnightmon actually speaking (I was beginning to worry he wouldn’t), and seeming to treat Devimon as more of an equal rather than his boss. Calamaramon... exists.
Gabumon is the other protagonist of this episode, and his characterization is mostly excellent, because of course Yamato’s partner would want to protect Takeru after seeing everything Yamato has done to keep him out of danger (when he wasn’t a regular part of the show, I mean). His power-up was based on his own determination and feelings, rather than Yamato’s, which is very rare for this franchise, and it was done well enough. Curiously, the mode change was still unable to truly defeat DarkKnightmon, only briefly clashing equally before running out of energy, at which point they’re saved by Poyomon being born (because Holy Digimon are so powerful in this season that even their birth is powerful). Speaking of which, I hope Eldoradimon is okay, because they just destroyed the castle on top of him.
As far as the B-Team goes (and they are the b-team, no point pretending otherwise), we get more characterization for Mimi, with her knowing Tokyo’s streets very well, and her driver commenting on how her grandfather is like that too. Jou doesn’t get anything new, though at least the comedy done with him here doesn’t humiliate him but rather emphasizes his desperation to arrive at the meeting. Calamaramon is sending data to Devimon (much like Eyesmon absorbed data from the human world to the digital world), and is hacking onto the navigation programs of an entire fleet to send it crashing into Tokyo. Seriously, if we get yet another countdown to Tokyo’s destruction, I’m going to be mad.
Other notes:
More emphasis on Koushiro as the most important character outside the Taichi/Yamato team, with the “previously on” section referring to the B-team as “Koushiro and the others”.
Agumon implies he gains courage from knowing Taichi is by his side. After the previous episode, it’s very easy to see why.
Takeru is first in line when moving through the enemy base. It’s very weird to see the one with no partner digimon at the front, even though he “knows” the way.
Gabumon uses hand-to-hand moves to defend Takeru from the Chikurimon, rather than his own Petit Fire. Reminded me of WereGarurumon.
There’s a deeply silly scene where they’re seemingly climbing up a wall and they looks as if they were sticking to the wall like Spiderman. It’s either that, or they’re crawling for no reason at all and the camera just turned 90° because why not.
More eye-motif for the villains. Hopefully this prevents any of the 7 Great Demon Lords from being the final villains, because dear lord, they are just as over-used as the Royal Knights.
Generally speaking, a very fun episode that for me fails at what should have been the very emotional core of it all. Next week we see NeoDevimon in all his glory.
