I got inspired and did the next two already I am proud of these two hah  these are...  Deep Saver and Wind Guardian Impmon!  Close to finishing the project now, can't wait to see them all together but I still need to figure out the last two...

Regalecusmon

Xiangpengmon (not officially a Deep Saver but its a fish and a dragon and a bird that lives in and rules part of the Net Ocean)

Jumbo Gamemon

i wanna show off my three new digimon pendulum z. Nature Spirits isn't here in the photo because i gave it to my gf.

Surprisingly Al*Express came in clutch. If you want to get one of these at least 20-30 dollars CAD cheaper and can wait a few weeks for them to arrive, get them there. They're legit copies, just being resold in China. This is as of 2024 though, prices may vary over time and availability?

Only downside is the packaging has labels stuck on them which kinda ruin the collectibility. You can see i tried to remove the sticker from Nightmare Soldiers with no luck :(

Nightmare Soldiers is my main game because I adore armagedemon and it's the only available on the pendulum Z as far as i know.

CHIKURIMON:

A Digimon that lurks underwater or under the shade of rocks, it doesn't move around very much while it waits quietly in one place. Although it has a habit of attacking those that come near, it is never belligerent and won't attack those that stay away from it. Because it proliferates abnormally when the temperature exceeds 30°C, Chikurimon can often be seen thickly crowded into lakes or around rocks with the coming of summer, and Digimon that come to drink water are often attacked.

I started reading another novel last night to cope with having finished rereading David Copperfield and it is just not the same man. I don't have something I laugh at on every other page. I've read 45 pages so far and I haven't giggled once. This hurts

#not every novel has to be funny but geez ouch i feel a deep lack of joy #tales from diana #i dont even feel like naming the novel bc it's not this book's fault it's following up an all-time fav #......... #but it is my ántonia by willa cather if your curious #i bought it at savers years ago and it's been sitting on my shelf since 2019 #i haven't read any novels since abt that time anyway #it's been almost entirely poetry plays and nonfiction. i need to get over my novelphobia #i have so many ive wanted and meant to read forever #i was in the swing of doing it p regularly and then i made friends #and i need to downsize my book collection (and plan to!) but i wanna at least get these ones read first #what seems disappointing to me is that not all novels are nearly as worthwhile as my favorite novels #but u can't know how worthwhile they are unless you read them #torturous!

🗝₊˚⊹♡ — thinking of daughter of hephaestus!reader awkwardly trying to flirt with luke castellan

luke first approached you in need of a new sword after some child of ares completely shattered his old one.

at first, you were confused as to why luke chose you specifically. but after the initial confusion wore off, butterflies immediately flared up deep within your tummy when the realization hit. luke chose you.

of course, you tried to rationalize the decision. all the other hephaestus children who were on blacksmith duty clearly had busier workloads. you, on the other hand, had your schedule cleared.

but still... the way luke smiled so politely at you, spoke to you with a gentle respectfulness — you were almost convinced he was thinking of kissing you. almost.

usually, your clients would leave and come back when you were finished, but luke stayed and watched your every move. asking you questions, humming in agreement and nodding his head, keeping his eyes on you. the whole exchange had you on edge, but every time you cracked a joke and heard him laugh, your already tense muscles loosened up just a smidge.

luke watched in awe as you hammered the glowing metal into his desired shape. you made it look so easy, and you didn't even flinch when some of the sparks caught on your uniform.

"and this... doesn't hurt? like at all?" luke asked as you handled the metal forged from fire.

and all you could do was smirk at him, sweat appearing on your hairline. "not at all, pretty boy,"

you gulped as those words left your mouth, but luke didn't seem to mind as he let out a breathless chuckle and looked down and away. was he... blushing?

you took the nearly-finished piece and plunged it into the bucket of water sitting off to the side, hearing it sizzle and watching the water boil almost immediately.

"sounds like a benihana's!" you commented, voice raised over the sound of sizzling metal. your face burned as luke looked at you with confusion and your face fell. "you never... been to a benihana's before?" luke shook his head, and you wanted stick your head into the forging fires.

when you handed luke the finished product, his face immediately lit up. taking a step back, he began to test it out, and you watched with slightly parted lips as you took your front-row seat for luke's swordsmanship.

"this is incredible," luke said, genuinely. "thank you so much. you're a life-saver,"

before you could say anything else, luke was already off to who-knows-where, but not before he's stopped by a couple of aphrodite girls who began to ooh and ahh at his new toy. dressed in all pink, smelling like luxury and springtime.

you pressed your lips together tightly before forcing yourself to swallow down the lump in your throat.

no time to feel like shit about yourself. you have to get back to work.

Cheaply.

Watercolor sets made by Crayola. Acrylics made by Crayola. The brushes these kits come with are frustrating, cheap brushes are typically $3-5 each. You can spend as much as you want on a brush, the cheap ones are surprisingly good. This is extremely common advice, this isn't just from me.

When you find "ah I like this" go with a student grade of whichever you prefer. Or both! I find watercolor frustrating. I find acrylic doesn't look graphic as much as I want. I fell in love with a paint called gouache because it is very flat, layers nicely.

I would not start with oil paint. It is expensive, requires a lot of special care to keep you safe. Fumes, cleaning agents, etc. Fall in love with painting, then if you want, give oil a try. Be prepared for days (weeks, months, literally) for paint to dry. This isn't to scare you off it -- it's great -- but I wouldn't start here.

Oil has tremendous variety of things you can do with it.

Watercolor is ethereal.

Acrylic has great graphic qualities, lots of range.

I like gouache because it looks almost animated (there is a reason for that, it was/is used in animation background sometimes). It's tricky and tempermental.

Paint by numbers kits if you don't draw. Maybe even if you do and just want to dive into painting.

Mixed media sketchbooks. Lets you experiment a lot, cheaply. The big thing about sketchbook paper is it comes in a few forms -- very cheap (newsprint) and takes dry media (pencils, etc.) well, cheap (mixed media, lets you experiment quickly and a lot), and expensive (hot press has no texture, cold press has a texture).

Painting needs something that can get wet and not fall apart.

Start with a cheap mixed media sketchbook and see how you like it. Move on from there.

Ton of videos across lots of social media and much content. Has the advantage of multiple perspectives, you don't get trapped in "I think this is crap" or "This is the best" versus your thoughts.

Start cheaply.

Art stores and product manufacturers exist to make money. This is a neutral statement. The point is they are a store, they will sell you whatever you think you need, whether you need it or not.

Conversely!

Some things that are not universally useful but sold in art stores are great labor savers. Some people look down at disposable palette paper, others need the flexibility because they have a hard time washing palettes... etc.

Start cheaply. Look at hardware stores, lots of duplicate functions in items.

I come from a background of digital art and a lifetime of business where "ah where the BONES ARE WE GOING TO FIND MONEY FOR--"

Have fun.

Get in deep and frustrated and then drink the frustration (but not the paint water) because you realize you're frustrated because you can FEEL how it should look but you can't get there yet.

The journey is amazing.

I've started looking at the mountain of business problems I have been sorting through for the last few years.

"Okay. How is this supply chain issue with stationery compared to a painting I want to do of the piranha plants of Super Mario Brothers?"

This is literally something I asked myself.

It took me out of the problem (supply chain issue, boxes, our office size, the number of stationery items I want to design) and forced me to look at it as a painting (structure, where does it stay simple, where does it get complex -- what makes sense -- ah, PDF downloads).

Paint.

Learn by doing.

Start cheaply.

Keep going. Build up.

BLUCOMON: A Small Dragon Digimon that resides in areas isolated from the outside world by ice. Its physical strength has been tempered by cold, harsh environment, allowing it to lift objects larger than itself with ease. However, because its body is made mainly out of ice, its body will shrink and its power will weaken when exposed to high temperatures. Due to being brought up in areas with small populations, they will tend to form very strong bonds even with Digimon of different species that they encounter. It is especially close to Penmon.
