Chris Van Dusen for The Hollywood Reporter
“I wanted the first words you hear out of Kate’s mouth to be in Hindi,” says Van Dusen, who notes that the phrase “baap re” is similar to what English speakers might identify in Kate’s delivery as an exasperated “oh dear.” “We were always looking for ways to honor the Sharmas’ South Asian heritage, to infuse this world with certain details that were specifically linked to the family’s heritage.” This, Van Dusen says, is the most fun aspect to writing Bridgerton. “We want to show and hear things that aren’t traditionally seen or heard in this genre. That’s what makes it Bridgerton — we do the unexpected.”

Ranking of “BRIDGERTON” Season Two (2022) Episodes
Below is my ranking of the Season Two episodes of “BRIDGERTON”, Netflix’s adaptation of Julia Quinn’s 2000 novel from her Bridgerton Series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me”. Produced by Shonda Rhimes, the series was created by Chris Van Dusen.
1. (2.06) “The Choice - Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton's duty to his family wars with his desire for Kate Sharma. The latter’s younger sister Edwina Sharma ponders her future, when her wedding to Anthony ends in disaster. Eloise's rendezvous with printer apprentice Theo James stirs suspicion.
2. (2.03) “A Bee in Your Bonnet” - The Sharmas arrive at the Bridgertons’ country estate, where Anthony seeks to win Kate's approval of his pursuit of Edwina, amid bad memories and a ruthless game of pall-mall.
3. (2.05) “An Unthinkable Fate” - Rattled by Anthony's hasty nuptial plans, Kate receives advice from Lady Danbury. Eloise meets Theo for the first time and spars with him. Emotions run high during dinner party attended by the Bridgertons, the Sharmas and Edwina’s maternal grandparents, the Sheffields.
4. (2.02) “Off to the Races” - Facing heated competition and a prickly Kate, Anthony steps up his courtship of Edwina. Eloise makes a Lady Whistledown discovery, as Colin Bridgerton returns home.
5. (2.01) “Captial R Rake” - In the season premiere, Anthony begins his search for a wife, Eloise braves her society debut, the Sharmas arrive in London from India, and Lady Danbury helps Queen Charlotte choose a diamond among the season's debutantes.
6. (2.08) “The Viscount Who Loved Me” - In the season finale, Anthony lashes out at his family, as he awaits news about the injured Kate. Eloise turns to Theo for help in her Lady Whistledown hunt. And Portia, Dowager Baroness Featherington plans a grand ball to boost her family’s profile.
7. (2.04) “Victory” - As guests gather for the Bridgertons’ ball, Anthony and Kate clash during a hunting party. Colin pays a visit to his former crush, Marina, Lady Crane. And Lady Featherington sets a trap for the new Lord Featherington and her daughter Prudence to be caught alone in order to force them into an engagement.
8. (2.07) “Harmony” - Scandalous rumors swirl around the Bridgertons and the Sharmas, following Anthony and Edwina’s aborted wedding ceremony. Queen Charlotte’s ire over Lady Whistledown lands Eloise and her best friend, Penelope Featherington, in a quandary.

Hating on Edwina is a hobby for people who don't acknowledge the equal bastardization of Kate and Anthony's characters on the show. I expected way more from them too and they disappointed me. They should've stuck to book! Kate and book! Anthony. 🤷🏾♀️ Shonda made it a re-write of Scandal when the book was right there!!!!

Totally Youthful Tuesday
I just heard about this urban legend on a podcast, and then I stumbled onto this book about the same legend. It seems to be a sign. I'm not sure what kind of sign it is at all, but, it feels like it's a sign. Either that I am William Taft, or that my tastes are so eclectic that they have come back around on themselves like an Ouroboros serpent.
So, William Taft, the 27th President of the United States was not a small man. So, the legend is that he once got stuck in a White House bathtub. And, this picture book has the whole government on the job trying to get the President unstuck.
What can I say, I’m a sucker for a bathtub picture book. And this reminded me so so much of my favorite of those, King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub. Do I believe the legend? Probably not, but it's a hilarious story for kids to enjoy.
You may like this book If you Liked: King Bidgood's in the Bathtub by Audrey Wood, Click, Clack, Ho Ho Ho! by Doreen Cronin, or Granny McFlitter by Heather Haylock

I am once again thinking about how they did the Sharmas (especially Mary and Edwina) so dirty and how I will never recover from the betrayal

The Queen Charlotte prequel is actually being written by Shonda Rhimes, unlike the Bridgerton series where she has no writing credit (on IMDb atleast).
I wonder how evident the difference in writers will be.
