A little bit more of the Avatar AU. I've tarted a series following this short comic of Dilla and Caleb meeting baby Miles/Spider:

It did not take long for Dilla and Caleb to adopt Miles, they had fallen in love with the tiny baby immediately ❤️ They decided to keep the name Miles, to honor the choice of his late birth mother Paz Socorro.

Since the baby was too small for a breathing mask, Caleb and Dilla would at first take turns staying with him at the human facilities. Later Elyon, the head of the facility, arranges for a shack to be placed in the Omatikaya village so Dilla and Caleb can finally take their son home, and care for him there. As Miles grows up, the shack also serves as a resting space where he can take off his breathing mask, eat and sleep more comfortably e.t.c.

When Dilla gives birth to Kai the baby brothers create a bond right away, always snuggling together and crying when separated. Unfortunately at the start they must be separated often since Kai, like all Na'vi and avatars, cannot breathe in human spaces for an unlimited time, and he himself is too little for a mask. It breaks their parents hearts to keep them apart during this first times, but they still make sure they spend as much time as they can together.

"Zola'u nìprrte' ma Miles. Welcome to our family." After watching Way Of Water and reading “High Ground”, It broke my heart how neglected, left behind and pushed aside Miles/Spider was by Neytiri, Jake and basically everyone else besides the Sully children, despite him being so loyal to them and having such a gentle kind heart. 

To make myself feel better I just had to include him in our Avatar AU, in which Dilla and Caleb definitely adopt him wholeheartedly, and Miles finally has a mother, father and brother to belong to 💙

Human Caleb X na'vi Dilla doodles for our Avatar AU, wanted to draw some romantic intimacy between them without Caleb being in his avatar for a change 💙💙

the last one is rather random and cheesy, but I had the idea that since they can't bond in Tsaheylu here, Caleb puts Dilla's queue against his chest so she can feel his heartbeat instead 💙

Young Caleb and Diego.

Caleb and Diego were both found by Julian, a while after the rebellion against prince Phobos broke out, they grew up together in the middle of all the chaos, living the struggles that no child should be able to endure. Despite Julian becoming a caring father figure to the boys, he was also busy leading the whole resistance and thus he had to prepare Caleb and Diego for the upcoming war, which forced them to grow up far too quickly, relying on each other, and the rebellion for survival.

Caleb of course grows up to become the next rebel leader after Julian is lost in battle, and Diego his right hand man.

Their pose was inspired by the painting "The Princes in the Tower'" by John Everett Millais, 1878. The whole story and melancholy of the piece portraying the children facing the dangerous unknown together reminded me of our boys ❤️

@katerinaaqu 's written work featuring Diego (and Caleb), her portrayal of this original character of ours is always fantastic ❤️:

I've not been posting much lately I apologize for that, life was keeping me... and recently much to my frustration my motivation is just dying, even tho I really want to draw... there's no better way to put this, I overall just feel like shit... just lost, empty and sad.

But regardless I decided to try and fight against all these nasty shadows over my head and force myself to create something, anything, hopefully more will come.

One step at a time I suppose, may it all get better.

 Diego and Dilla adore each other to bits, and they don't argue ever. In Caleb's dreams of course. In reality they are usually at each others throats😆

Diego's dislike and jealousy of Dilla is not really connected to how he feels about her as a person, but rather it all boils down to her relationship and romance with Caleb, which stings Diego's complicated feelings that he never admitted to Caleb, or even to himself. Dilla can perceive such feelings and has compassion, but even her compassion is not enough when Diego throws his unhinged nasty attitude and insults at her, and she often bites back. Dilla also fails to communicate with Diego, pressing on certain wounds without meaning to at times.

One more for the piles of AUs me and @katerinaaqu created, and it's apocalypse AU time, with a pinch of body horror.

top: Dilla before and after infection

bottom: Dilla with fabrics and a cloak covering her face. 

A virus changes people into rabid flesh eating monsters. Poor Dilla tragically gets infected when she gets separated from her group, however during the process of her transformation she is pregnant and gives birth to her and Caleb's son Kai, and that plus her great resilience to protect her child somehow prevents her from loosing most of her sanity and awareness. Kai is born uninfected, and Caleb and the group find Dilla transformed but consciously protecting the baby (if this reminds you of a plot of a manga which is floating around, that's because me and @katerinaaqu  took inspiration from it 😆)

Infected Dilla maintains her full humanity and awareness as long as she is not starved, but if by some chance she runs out of food her new found instincts will eventually overwhelm her, and she will lose complete control of herself and enter a dangerous frenzy, attacking anyone around her indiscriminately, unable to recognize friend from foe(or prey), because of this (and after a tragic accident that will be revealed later) she becomes extremely careful with proper feeding, for she is terrified of hurting others, especially her loved ones.  

Dilla needs flesh to eat because of the infection, therefore she mostly resorts to hunting other dangerous infected people who attack uninfected survivors.

Dilla's body changed because of the infection, and her face became disfigured, her mouth especially ripped apart from her cheeks almost up to her ears with rows of sharp teeth. Unfortunately this made most people react in a fearful, discriminatory and sometimes even violent manner with her, so to avoid scaring other people, or provoke tension when walking out in the open, Dilla uses fabrics, scarfs and a cloak to hide her mouth and face.

The only ones to whom she openly shows herself and her face to are her beloved Caleb, their son Kai, and later her brother Ballard and his companion Cornelia. This is a rough one for the poor sweet girl and her loved ones, a lot of trauma, hurt and comfort ❤️‍🩹

Decided to try and redesign the Na'vi just for fun, using our dearest character Dilla! I wondered how Na'vi could have looked like if their anatomy had more connections with the environment and most of the living beings on Pandora. Dilla’s milky white eyes are something she keeps in every AU as a reference to her original design.

I will continue to use the normal Na'vi designs for our Avatar AU drawings, this was just something random I wanted to try.

I quite love how she turned out tho!! Quite different and intimidating looking, but still the same sweet lively girl! Please don't make her mad and give her lots of hugs instead, she'll return them in double 💙 💙 Caleb and her still utterly in love of course 💙

Concepts for Caleb's armors ✨

In the main story Caleb starts working as tutor/trainer of the lads that are to be the future royal guard of the Queen.  Elyon requested this from him, since as the ex rebel leader Caleb has direct experience and knowledge in combat and harsh warfare among other things.

At this point Caleb is living with his beloved Dilla in her village, and he very much prefers to be around the Tribal Galhots who he considers his new family, people and home, rather than to mess with Meridian's royal affairs. He still frequently visits the town to share drinks with his ex comrades and friends, but mingling with nobles was never his favorite activity. However, he decided to accept this job as a favor to his queen and friend, and also by Dilla's advice that it could be good for the continuous healing of his body and mind.

Since Caleb was in need of an armor for this task, the people of the village offered themselves to make it for him. Tribal Galhots' great talent for blacksmithing is well known, admired and very sought after throughout Meridian and Metamoor, and most people rush to buy all the high quality jewelry, armor and more that they trade in towns. Caleb gratefully takes this offer as a great honor.

The style of blacksmithing of the Tribes is very diverse, picking up techniques and looks from their own culture, but also from various other cultures of Meridian, among them of course is the medieval-like armor and weapons that even the Tribal Galhots wear themselves, and it's the usual style that is commissioned from people from towns such as Meridian, however Caleb for such a kind gift, only requested that his amour was made in any way that the artists and blacksmiths of the village saw fit for him, which delighted them greatly. And thus the unique pieces were then created.

So me and @katerinaaqu were looking at these beautiful and so very interesting armor pieces from Bronze Age Greece. The shapes and looks are so unique, that we decided to take inspiration from them for the armor Caleb uses to train the lads of the royal guard in our story!

We decided that it would be an interesting alternative concept from the medieval-like armors that are usually seen in high fantasy scenes. 

Since in our story Caleb's armors were made as a gift from the Tribal Galhot people of the village where he is living with Dilla, I tried to take the references that @katerinaaqu has showed me, and translate them to the materials and styles that would be used in this scenario, in this case Iron, gold, furs and leather, and of course tusks and horns of animals to adorn the helmets (which was perfect since Mycenaean helmets and armors already fit so well).

Also a bit extra, but since we are checking out Iliad and the Odyssey, and our version of Caleb shares so much with the narrative of Odysseus, especially in his great journey and struggles, we realized that Caleb kind of almost became the Odysseus of Meridian in Chronicles of Metamoor by accident 😆❤️✨

Aww Opal eyes!! I love that ❤️❤️

Yes Dilla is blind, she and her twin brother Ballard were born blind and had to train hard to sharpen their other senses so they could survive and thrive as part of the Omatikaya clan.

Her eyes are also something we have chosen to keep from her original design to this Avatar AU. In our original story she's a Tribal Galhot, a fantasy race of people who are all blind but with very developed hearing and other senses:
