Magnificent and Historic Natural pearl and diamond tiara/necklace
"One of the most important tiaras to appear at auction in recent years, this royal tiara dates to the second half of the 19th century. Steeped in the rich history of the House of Savoy, this tiara hails an extraordinary provenance. Likely to have been presented to Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo in 1867 as a wedding gift on the occasion of her marriage to Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, later elected King of Spain as Amadeo I (1870- 1873), the tiara, which has remained with the family for over 150 years, is believed to have been created by Musy Padre e Figli – Court Jeweller of Turin, and one of the oldest goldsmiths in Europe.
Composed of graduated scroll motifs set with cushion-shaped, circular- and single-cut diamonds, framing eleven slightly baroque drop-shaped natural pearls, the jewel has more recently been seen worn as an elegant necklace.
The tiara is designed as a succession of eleven graduated scroll motifs, each composed of a natural pearl surrounded by old cut diamonds. The surmount rests on a detachable band composed of cluster and bar motifs set with cushion-shaped diamonds. The scroll motifs are detachable and may be adapted and worn as a necklace. The tiara, which was created by Musy, belonged to Maria Vittoria Carlotta Enrichetta Giovanna dal Pozzo della Cisterna (1847-1876), Duchess of Aosta and Queen of Spain."

"EARLY 19TH CENTURY DIAMONDS 'EARS OF WHEAT' TIARA, ATTRIBUTED TO NITOT   EARS OF WHEAT or épis de blés in French, were one of the most prominent decorative themes in jewellery under the First French Empire. This period was stylistically marked by a revival of classical antiquity, inspired by recently excavated archeological sites such as Pompei and Herculaneum. In fashion this translated into simple dresses with high waistlines that were a canvas for elaborate parures. Ears of wheat are an attribute of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, the harvest, fertility and prosperity. Ears of wheat were often executed as separate diamond, gold and silver brooches that could be arranged freely on a dress or hairstyle, either separately or bundled as wheat sheaves.   PAULINE BORGHESE (1780-1825) was the second sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. Her first husband, General Charles Leclerc, died after only a few years of marriage. In 1803 she married Camillo Borghese, Prince of Sulmona. Pauline Borghese was known for being fun-loving and extravagant, as suggested by the famous statue of her realized by Antonio Canova. She was also the only Bonaparte sibling who always remained faithful to Napoleon and visited him in exile on Elba. The provenance of lot 1 can be traced back to Pauline Borghese through family inheritance." Emerald tiara, transformable into three brooches and Made of emeralds, diamonds, gold, and silver. Circa 1840-50. This emerald tiara is composed of emeralds, diamonds, gold, and silver. The crown section is constructed with diamond and emerald-set oak leaf branches, and it can be converted into three brooches. The diamond oak leaf brooch exhibited, adorned with gold and silver, symbolizes verdant and flourishing essence with its diamond-studded serrated leaves.
Upon closer inspection, you will find that these two jewelry pieces feature 16 gemstone acorns. In Europe, the resilient nature of the oak tree is regarded as a symbol of royalty, while acorns represent the protected people. Whether it’s a palace ball or a grand banquet, these patriotic-themed accessories are the perfect complement to formal attire.

Sunderland's Royal Jewel Vault (18/∞) ♛
↬ Countess Wynn's Meander Tiara
The majority of the tiaras in the Sunderlandian collection were inherited through members of King Louis V's family, mainly previous queens Matilda Mary, Anne, and Katherine. This meander tiara however represents the current Wariwcks' French heritage, as it belonged to Queen Irene's mother, Marguerite Wynn. Countess Wynn was born in 1914 as Marguerite Delphine Lucie Chevrier. She was the eldest of four children born to industrialist  Phillipe Édouard Chervrier (1880 - 1950) and his El Salvadoran wife, Consuelo Romana Gomez (1892 - 1979). Margurite's family claims ancestry from both French and Spanish nobility, although the bulk of their impressive fortune was derived from Phillipe's ceramics factory in the south of France. Much of Margurite's early life was disrupted by the First World War, during which the Chevriers settled in Mexico City with Consuelo's sister. Following the war, Marguerite flourished in high Parisian society, becoming well-versed in the arts and fluent in several languages, including English and Spanish. Expected to marry into the French aristocracy, Marguerite made waves by instead marrying John Wynn (1911 - 1973), a career soldier from Sunderland whose great family had fallen on hard times following the deaths of John's three older brothers in the war. When the couple met in 1931, John was on a mindless trek across Europe, in search of a wealthy bride. Despite their differing backgrounds, Marguerite was smitten by John's optimism and good humour. The pair married a year later, with John even converting to Catholicism to appease Marguerite's parents. Their wedding was held at the Chapel of the Palace of Versailles, one of the last grand society affairs of interwar Paris. The tiara, which featured a Greek key design punctuated by a central emerald-cut yellow diamond, was among Marguarite's wedding gifts. The jewel is ambiguous in origin but is agreed to be an early twentieth-century creation, likely from Cartier. It became a useful tool in Margurite's arsenal as she erupted in Sunderland as one of the country's wealthiest society ladies. Pearlie, as she became known, was noted to be arrogant, intelligent, and ravishing. Pearlie is more "royal" than the rest of us combined. She drenches herself in jewels as if she were the ghost of the last Tsarina. — Queen Katherine, 1970
The Countess owned the tiara until 1968, when she gave it to her youngest daughter, Lady Irene, also as a wedding present. Irene's marriage to the future King Louis V was Pearlie's greatest life achievement and she became increasingly boastful. Maman Wynn, as she was called by the press and public, was known to meddle in royal affairs, especially the personal lives of her daughter and son-in-law. By the early 1980s, she was on bad terms with both. Irene was never seen wearing her mother's tiara, but she kept it in her own personal possession for almost thirty years. In 1997, Irene continued the tradition by gifting the tiara to her only daughter, Princess Jacqueline, ahead of her wedding to Lawrence Belmont. The wedding was coincidently the last public appearance of the old Countess Wynn. She died peacefully at Chester Palace the same winter. Since then, Jacqueline has worn the tiara regularly at state functions and in official portraits. It's among the princess's most cherished pieces.
The Countess Wynn wears the tiara in a portrait, circa October 1943, eight years before the birth of her youngest daughter, Queen Irene

The Wessex Aquamarine Necklace Tiara
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tiara made its debut in 2005. The occasion was an enthronement celebration event for Prince Albert II of Monaco. Sophie, then Countess of Wessex, donned the dazzling tiara for the opera gala held on November 19, Monaco’s National Day.  The piece was reportedly made for Sophie by Collins & Sons, who also had a similar convertible necklace available for sale to the public a few years ago. Other jewellery writers have speculated that the central aquamarine can also be worn as a pendant on a simple chain. ~ The Court Jeweller

Royal Tiara Challenge 2024: Favourite Danish Tiara

Queen Mary’s Necklace Tiara
One of the few tiaras that I believe looks good in both necklace and tiara form, this convertible piece was bought by Queen Mary on auction in 2012 while she was still Crown Princess. It was last worn by Queen Mary in November 2023 for the State Visit from Spain.

👑 Day One: Favorite British Tiara
The Poltimore Tiara
Details from The Court Jeweler:
The tiara gets its name from its original owner: Florence Bampfylde, Lady Poltimore. It was made for Lady Poltimore by Garrard around 1870, and it can be either worn as a tiara or broken down into a necklace and a whopping eleven brooches. As a tiara, it can also be worn in its full glory or in a slightly smaller version. That’s a seriously convertible sparkler.

Favorite Swedish Tiara: The Modern Fringe Tiara
This is such a gorgeous piece and it truly flatters everyone who wears it. It's also gorgeous as a necklace (Our first convertible tiara!). My only mild complaint is the height at the base, so that it seems to float a little bit above the head (even on the Swedish ladies and their amazing tiara hair).
